Fantastic 4: Rise Of The Silver Surfer

Okay, I wasn't an big fan of the first movie, hell wasn't even an big fan of the Fantastic Four comic, however, just learnt about the second movie, which I beleive the story has the potential to be alot better then the first, as they don't really have to go into an whole story about the FF learning there powers..

Plus, adding the Silver Surfer into the movie, to take on, what will be the villian of the movie, The Planet Eater, Galactus!!!

Any Throughts?

Blitz 11-02-2006 05:03 AM

Hopefully they don't lame up Galactus like they did Doom.

Destor 11-02-2006 05:03 AM

Galactus on the big screen doesn't sound like money...

Mister Sinister 11-02-2006 05:06 AM

Sure it does..

Costing them lots of it

Funky Fly 11-02-2006 05:08 AM

Yeah, despite being big in the comic world, the FF just doesn't translate well to movies. Especially with whoever wrote/directed the last piece of crap.

Mister Sinister 11-02-2006 05:09 AM

But I guess I'm just more looking forward to, the Silver Surfer then anything.

Plus, Yeah I somehow see them, making Galactus actually having to sell to the Fantastic Four, which he shouldn't considering, he eats fucking planets for breakfast

Douglas Jones?

Mister Sinister 11-02-2006 05:14 AM

I dunno, really didn't look up who was playing him, damn it's the fish guy from Hellboy (The Actor, not the guy who did the talking)

Damn nevermind, I feel even stupid for making this thread.

Dave Youell 11-02-2006 05:16 AM

First time I saw FF I thought it was a let down because of my high expectations, after watching it again recently I realised it's not THAT bad.

Best thing about it by far was Johnny Storm though

You realise how many times he's done that, though? I think Richards is one of the only reasons Earth is still standing. He's like MacGyver, only cooler toys and no mullet.

BigDaddyCool 11-02-2006 04:24 PM

Fantastic 4 has to be the second worst of the current batch of comic book movie, Hulk being the worst. I was watching F4 the other day, but I got to distracted by making cookies. I mean, it was so poorly put together I didn't bother hitting pause.

Are you counting Catwoman?

KingofOldSchool 11-02-2006 07:03 PM

And Elektra?

Funky Fly 11-02-2006 07:07 PM

Why did they give Electra a movie anyway? She's not the most exciting character in the Marvel Universe. I could see a mini series, but damn, not a whole shitfest movie.

Kalyx triaD 11-03-2006 12:06 AM

I want DeadPool!

Pinnacle Charisma 11-03-2006 12:16 AM

Yeah Deadpool is really the only comic book I want to see on the big screen now I dont really care about any other ones.

Although I wouldnt mind to see some more X- related movies

Blitz 11-03-2006 12:34 AM

God would I love a properly casted Deadpool movie.

Not real sure who should play 'pool tho.

El Fangel 11-03-2006 12:38 AM

Whoever cast Jessica Alba as the invisible woman is a fucking moron.

Yeah that one, it sucked

Dave Youell 11-03-2006 03:58 AM

Oh and any reason why we can't have doom in this one again? Yes he seemed crappy in the last one, but we know he's not dead, so chances are he'll be back.

Funky Fly 11-03-2006 04:02 AM

Deadpool would be cool. Maybe a tie in with Cable if they can manage not to screw up the whole "time travelling bionic commando savior of the world telepath" thing.

Pinnacle Charisma 11-03-2006 09:31 AM

Ryan Reynolds has been linked to play Deedpoll. But they are just whispers.

She's hugely popular. Unfortunately, they went for a huge suckfest.

X-Force would be kickass too. I loved some of the characters in that.

You know, besides just Cable. Plus, the whole fight with Magento and his was awesome.

Pinnacle Charisma 11-03-2006 10:29 AM

You know I reakon it would be cool to see an X-Factor Movie. Just so I can see some of my favorites on the big screen such as Havok, Madrox and Forge. Even though in Mystique as well

Kalyx triaD 11-03-2006 11:26 AM

Cable could be pulled off onscreen, they just have to cut every one of his signature themes to do it.

BigDaddyCool 11-03-2006 11:43 AM

I'm counting Electra, which was pretty shitty, but since it isn't as well known of a book, I let it off easy. I completely forgot about Catwoman, is that even remotely based on the comics?

Kalyx triaD 11-03-2006 03:41 PM

Catwoman was based on some white guy's wet-dream of Halle Berry after reading a comic book or two.

Blitz 11-03-2006 05:22 PM

Reynolds could work as Deadpool.

Funky Fly 11-03-2006 05:30 PM

Yeah, since Deadpool is pretty disfigured, there's no problem with Reynold's "nice guy" face interfering with DP's kickassedness.

Especially since he usually has his mask on anyway, and the focus is more on Deadpool's attitude than anything else.

It's not even close. I mean, it's been over a decade since I read comics, but I don't remember the Catwoman being a supernatural force or anything to that effect. Hell, Catwoman had nothing to do with Batman.

Well, I just assumed that if they were gonna do a movie about him, they'd at least give him an origin flashback, which would probably involve showing his face at some point.

For the most part, the comics themselves have avoided a true flashback. They managed to go decades without going beyond the whole "Weapon X" tie.

If nothing else, they could do something close to V for Vendetta. The Wachowskis made it entirely derivative anyway, so who cares about copying?

Blitz 04-19-2007 03:21 AM

What Galactus is gonna look like (no pics, just description):

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/32330

Come on.

Rammsteinmad 04-19-2007 03:34 AM

I guess I'll believe it when I see proof, for now that doesn't seem good enough. But none-the-less that sounds fucking awful if that's what it'll be.

I mean come on, this is only Galactus. IMO the second biggest threat in the entire marvel universe (I vote Onslaught as number one). A fucking cloud... you'd have to be insane to think you could pull that one off. :nono:

Funky Fly 04-19-2007 03:54 AM

If that's true,

Well that cloud needs work, I mean it doesn't want to get typecast just working on Lost all the time now does it?

Lara Emily 04-19-2007 08:26 AM

It better be a damn good storm cloud!

LMAO! I wanna see them justify that change.

People were pissed when they made Kingpin black and now they are turning Galactus in to a cloud.

Jon Kano 04-19-2007 08:42 AM

Its the smoke monster from Lost, it must be gettin loads of work now.

Mr Regal 04-19-2007 08:47 AM

That sounds pretty fucking dire. Who are the assholes who come up with this kind of thing?

And what is Rothmans problem with big robots? Fucking fairy:rant:

The Destroyer 04-19-2007 03:01 PM

Oh... dear. Lets hope this isn't true, as it'd be rather lame.

Boondock Saint 04-19-2007 03:40 PM

From Dark Horizons:

After some back and forth with Fox publicists, they sent along the following exclusive official comment on the whole issue:

"Laurence Fishburne is officially the voice of the Silver Surfer and not the voice of Galactus, as some other fan sites have stated.

There was never a Seattle test screening, period. Finally, moviegoers will have to wait to see Galactus in the movie, but fans definitely won't be disappointed."

Outside of the official statement, others have Fox have called around and again cite that "nothing was shown in Seattle or anywhere else." No comment seems to be made on the Galactus design short of them confirming they won't go on the record about it - makes sense considering it's the big finale of the film and they likely want to keep it under wraps until its released.

On the one hand, people pissing and moaning about Kingpin being black was incredibly fucking stupid.

On the other, it shows how petty and bitchy the fanbase is.

On the other hand, those petty and bitchy cunts will watch the movie three times by the Saturday of opening weekend.

But if Galactus is a cloud, I think people will still watch the movie. Doom was awful.

I dunno. Casual moviegoers will go. Rabid "as long as it's marvel, I'll buy it" fanboys will go. Jaded fans like me... that's a different story. I was really turned off by the first FF, and this new one hasn't done a lot (ie. nothing) to rekindle my interest.

Unlike its Hulk counterpart, they don't seem to want to correct their mistakes. I'm the kind of guy who will go on opening day in the middle of a storm for a movie I wanna see. This probable turd, you couldn't pay me to go to it.

Blitz 04-19-2007 11:55 PM

Was watching Attack of the Show today. On their news ticker, it said that this was just a rumour, and that Fox said it wasn't true. So who knows.

Funky Fly 04-20-2007 12:02 AM

Well, that's still just polishing a turd.

Hulk kinda was slaughtered. FF did well. Commmercially AND critically.

El Fangel 04-20-2007 12:14 AM

X-Men could have been so much better with an army of sentinels in it. It would have made it far more exciting.

Oh no doubt the bitching about a black kingpin was retarded. But given the outcry then I can't wait to see their reaction in this situation.

It had lots of action. Of course it did well, considering it was a summer movie.

I went to see it, but man do I regret doing it. No chance in hell I'm going to this one.

We'll see about the next Hulk. It seems like they're changing up a lot in this one.

Kane Knight 04-20-2007 05:21 PM

Well, my point is that's why they didn't bother to change FF, but did Hulk.

I'll probably see this movie in theaters. I expect it to be bad, but I always want to see Surfer on the big screen. I won't piss and moan about how awful it is, because I'll get what I paid for: Explosions, super powers, and Silver Fucking Surfer. But I won't defend it as good.

Would have been harder to do, most likely. Bigger action scenes. The problem with comic movies is that they make things smaller scale. Everything's less epic. Big fights usually last a few minutes.

They literally tone down the comics to make the movie. Probably because it's expensive to do. Sure, CG is cheaper these days, but it still costs a lot.

tucsonspeed6 04-23-2007 03:17 PM

What's with this rumor I heard that Galactus is going to be a big disappointment?

Kane Knight 04-23-2007 03:29 PM

You meant the one discussed above, or the one that comes from the common sense of looking at Doom?
