PREVIEW FOR THURSDAY’S HISTORIC TWO-HOUR PRIMETIME DEBUT OF “iMPACT!” ON SPIKE TV
Featuring the TNA in-ring debut of Kurt Angle against “The Monster” Abyss

Thursday night on SpikeTV will be a historic moment as TNA Wrestling’s “iMPACT!” goes primetime with its new start time of 9pm ET! Don’t miss your chance to witness this epic two-hour event! The following is the official preview for the broadcast, including the two huge featured main events:

MAIN EVENT: THE TNA IN-RING DEBUT OF KURT ANGLE VS. “THE MONSTER” ABYSS
It will be the first TNA Wrestling bout for Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle, who faces off against the juggernaut Abyss on Thursday night! By winning the “Fight For The Right” tournament, Abyss has earned a shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Title at “Genesis”, but first he will have to step into the ring against Kurt Angle! Can Angle stand up to TNA’s premiere destructive force in his return bout? Without a doubt, it will be a moment the wrestling world will be watching!

MAIN EVENT: SIX SIDES OF STEEL BARBED-WIRE: “THE WAR MACHINE” RHINO vs. CHRISTIAN CAGE
Former friends now bitter enemies will battle inside TNA’s first-ever Six Sides Of Steel Barbed-Wire bout on Thursday night as “The War Machine” Rhino collides with Christian Cage! In order to win, you must escape through the cage door or climb over the top (where the razor wire will be blocking any escape). In an attempt to end the carnage between Rhino and Cage, TNA management has granted them this violent arena of warfare on the primetime debut of “iMPACT!”. Which TNA star will ultimately survive what promises to be a violent and bloody bout? Tune in and find out!

MLB WORLD SERIES MVP DAVID ECKSTEIN TO APPEAR IN A SPECIAL INTERVIEW WITH JIM CORNETTE
St. Louis Cardinals star and World Series MVP David Eckstein will appear on the primetime special in an interview with Jim Cornette to talk TNA! Eckstein is a huge fan of Total Nonstop Action and plans to attend several TNA events in Orlando, Florida, this winter! The interview was taped Tuesday at the Louisville Slugger Museum in Louisville, Kentucky.

X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: AJ STYLES VS. CHRIS SABIN VS. CHRISTOPHER DANIELS
Three of TNA’s no-limits, high-flying X style elite will face off on Thursday’s primetime debut with the X Championship up for grabs as titleholder “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles puts the gold on the line against former champions Chris Sabin and Christopher Daniels! Styles and Daniels are recent tag team partners, but that friendship will be put on hold in this bout with the title on the line! Plus, will Styles get revenge on Sabin for costing him a shot at the NWA World Title? Catch all the X Division action this Thursday night at 9pm ET!

THE LATIN AMERICAN EXCHANGE PROMISES TO TORCH THE FLAG
On Thursday’s “iMPACT!”, Konnan and The Latin American Exchange promised to create controversy on the primetime debut as they have vowed to torch the American Flag! The LAX have chosen the primetime stage as their platform to showcase their hatred and contempt for America! In addition, they have invited Canada’s own Petey Williams to take part in the torching! Will the LAX make good on their anti-American promise and cause huge controversy? Will anyone from the TNA roster attempt to step up and stop them? Tune in to “iMPACT!” on Thursday night to find out!

SAMOA JOE IN ACTION AGAINST JAY LETHAL
The TNA star that will challenge Kurt Angle at “Genesis” – “The Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe – will be in action on the primetime debut of “iMPACT!” this Thursday when he faces off against X Division star Jay Lethal! Just three days before he collides with the Olympic gold medalist, Joe will unleash his path of destruction on Thursday night on SpikeTV!

TABLES MATCH: TEAM 3D vs. THE NATURALS
After what took place on “iMPACT!” between Shane Douglas, The Naturals and Team 3D, both sides will battle on Thursday’s two-hour special in Team 3D’s specialty bout, a Tables Match! The Naturals are looking to step up against the best tag teams in TNA, and they picked a huge fight against one of the greatest tag teams of all-time! Can “The Franchise” lead his team to a victory against Brother Ray and Brother Devon? Or, will Team 3D get revenge on The Naturals by putting them through the wood? See it unfold on Thursday night on “iMPACT!”.

Plus, NWA World Heavyweight Champion Sting is scheduled to be on the primetime debut of “iMPACT!” on SpikeTV!

All this and much more this Thursday night on the two-hour primetime debut of “iMPACT!’ on SpikeTV, beginning at 9pm ET! Plus, there will be more news and matches announced for Sunday’s huge “Genesis” Pay-Per-View event!

I very much predict this will suck, and I'll be too busy watching Grey's Anatomy to find out - but you all have fun.

Testicle 11-16-2006 08:08 PM

the x title match might be good, plus tables are always fun

Destor 11-16-2006 08:09 PM

TNA is the Slapstick of wrestling.

Caged Heat18 11-16-2006 08:13 PM

I don't think I'll be watching. Maybe I'll flip to it for a little bit, but I doubt it.

Mr. JL 11-16-2006 08:13 PM

I'll be watching :) but by the end of the night I may wish that I didn't.

Skippord 11-16-2006 10:06 PM

PullMyFinger 11-16-2006 10:36 PM

LOL that whole segment with the flock and VKM is horrible.

The new Flock looked like a bad Halloween crew and Billy Gun looked like he belonged with them.

Oh damn, it's going that badly? Only match i'm interested in is christian/rhino.

What Would Kevin Do? 11-16-2006 10:50 PM

I'm going to be honest.... I went out of my way to watch this, and by 9:35, I've pretty much decided I have no desire to watch TNA again... At least WWE entertains me somewhat, and doesn't make me feel embarrassed to watch. THe commentary is unbearable, and there lame ass promos are driving me insane. Every promo is like a trailer for a halloween movie. So far, the only redeeming things have been Nash and Shelly ( I hate what they've done to Aries), and Homicide....

Seriously, I can't watch anymore. I'm going back to bed.

Kane Knight 11-16-2006 11:03 PM

Did Rhino F-5 Cage?

Batsu 11-16-2006 11:17 PM

No F-5 that I saw.

LOL @ Nash during this whole show.
But I hope we didn't just see his naked ass.

Skippord 11-16-2006 11:18 PM

That was more of Kevin Nash than I ever need to see again.

....nice ass tho

Blitz 11-16-2006 11:22 PM

WTF why is Petey Williams suddenly defending the American Flag?

McLegend 11-16-2006 11:23 PM

LAX is great.

You are honestly never embarrassed while watching WWE?

C'mon now

also I don't care if you like TNA or not, but let nots make outlandish statements like that ever again.

WWE has done stupid story line shit that has embarrassed me, yes. However, I expect it from them. TNA claims to be some sort of great alternative. Furthermore, it wasn't even TNA's storylines that embarrassed me, but thier god awful commentary and retarded lame ass presentation. TNA is like a bad, campy horror movie that takes itself way too seriously.

KingofOldSchool 11-17-2006 12:27 AM

TNA is the Eugene of the wrestling world.

What Would Kevin Do? 11-17-2006 12:27 AM

Oh, and Billy Gunn and Roaddogg thinking they're anywhere near the level of HHH/HBK is laughable.

Seriously, I've never watched WWE and been like "You know what, I can't take this anymore, I'm leaving."

And I've been watching WWE for years.

TNA made me do it in one hour.

I'm not embarrssed by watching TNA, becaue they haven't treated their audience like crap yet. I don't feel like an idiot watching it like I do while watching WWE. Mind you I'm not going out and telling everyone I watch TNA it still is pro wrestling.

Now yes their commentary is bad, but it's nothing to be embarssed about. TNA should seriously sign Mauro Ranallo the former Pride PBP guy. He has an excllent background in Pro wrestling, and with him calling the matches and Mike Tenay doing the analyzing would be a tremendous broadcast team. Then you move Don West to being a backstage interviewer and a hype guy for the PPV's would be smart move.

Now with all that said I like Don West, and I hope he stays in TNA for a long time.

Yeah the VKM is horrible. They aren't even worth talking about.

Also the fact that you have been watching the WWE for years is probably the big reason why you don't turn it off.

The reason why people don't turn WWE off is because they have been watching if years and they are use to it, and that right there is where a big disadvantage for TNA comes in.

The Naitch 11-17-2006 12:57 AM

Paul Levesque and Michael Hickenbottom are probably laughing right now

but then again, I doubt they even tuned into this crap, so I guess they havent watched it yet

VKM is TERRIBLE. VKM is a poor man's DX, if anything. And this is coming from a guy who thinks DX is utter crap

PullMyFinger 11-17-2006 01:16 AM

Yeah the last hour was good...but the VKM thing...wth was that? Embarassing on TNA's part. The War starts? What fuckin war idiots?

Mr. JL 11-17-2006 01:29 AM

My thoughts on the show...

I thought the opening segment was just retarded.

Team 3D, mainly Brother Ray fucking put over The Naturals so damn well in that promo. Only for it to be ruined by the lack of skill that The Naturals possess.

I actually enjoyed the VKM segment. Like, I KNOW neither BG or Kip are anywhere near HHH & HBK, but I thought it served a good purpose. The purpose being that TNA is waging war against the WWE. (Not that I think they should even attempt to do this, nor do I think there is a war, but since they are doing it anyways I thought it was an effective promo). Eh, maybe its just because I can't fucking stand the new DX and have not enjoyed a single segment of theirs since they began.

The Rhino-Cage match pissed me off with TNA coming back from the commercial with Christian busted open, and none of the television audience being able to see the action that led to it, occur live.

I thought the Kevin Nash and Shelley-Starr thing was absolutely terrible.

How many times has the X-Division Championship changed hands in the last month?

The Styles-Cage feud interests me though, and I think they should keep Styles out of the X-Division and start giving him feuds with guys like Christian, Raven, Steiner, Rhino, Joe, Sting and eventually Angle.

The Angle-Abyss match was a nice match, but why the hell would you book the #1 Contender for the NWA World Championship to lose THREE days before his big title match on PPV with Sting? Just fucking terrible booking.

Sting, the babyface comes in to hit the heel challenger with a baseball bat 8 times. Very good guy like of him to beat on his challenger with a bat, who has already wrestled a match for 15 minutes against KURT ANGLE non the less.
-----

I was considering ordering Genesis, but after that show... FUCK IT, I'll save my money and bittorrent it.

St. Jimmy 11-17-2006 06:10 AM

LOOOOOL. The overbooking and under-writing continues.

God bless Dixie Carter, and God bless Vince Russo.

Batsu 11-17-2006 06:14 AM

The show wasn't mindblowing.

In fact, it seemed a little muddled outside of maybe LAX, the Rhino/Christian feud and the Angle/Joe feud.

that VKM stuff looks like crap, though LOL @ the worked-shoot comments within it. I mean, to go so far just to make a "Vince"-related Angle? The James Gang is just a better name.

I don't think they should fire shots at WWE just yet. Even though Raw is so shitty nowadays.

Jeritron 11-17-2006 06:18 AM

That sounds like TERRIBLE booking. I'm glad I didnt watch that crap-fest.

Seriously, booking the #1 contender for an upcoming match against the debut star...what could you possibly be thinking?
And it sounds like the Xdivision championship is becoming the hardcore title in terms of credibility and reign-length.

Jeritron 11-17-2006 06:20 AM

as for TNA declaring war on WWE. Looks like they forgot to put ammo in their guns when they made their first attack.

Loose Cannon 11-17-2006 10:47 AM

I watched it. Now keep in mind I haven't watched a 2 hour or even hr wreslting show in a while.

I thought it was a fun show.

LAX is leagues beyond anything TNA is doing. I thought the 1st segment was rushed wayyy to much. Like it was a segment for Ritalin users. And that's one of my major problems with the production. It's so quick, that you don't have time to take it all in and get into it. But I enjoyed the whole story of them burning the flag and them Williams saving it. Good old wreslting angle.

Chris Sabin: LC's new favorite wreslter (behind the guy with Shelly, but more on him later). I hated Sabin as a generic TNA X-division babyface. He's got a personality now and it works. The new vest, the hair, and the attitude. I like. Good job. Too bad he lost last night though. That was his to win. I don't like how the Title is being thrown around also, but understand what they are doing. They keep making Sabin lose to where he keeps becoming more whiney and pissy. He'll get it next though.

Cage/Rhino: Good match. Nothing less then expected. Cage/AJ is going to be a cool feud.

Nash/Shelly/this awesome guy. Who is this other guy? He's very catchy. These three work very well together. I'm glad they tossed Devine because he was crap.

VKM: I dunno, I always like these shoots and I liked the segment. Be interested to see where they are going.

Angle/Joe/Sting/Abyss: It was ok. I thought they did a few things wrong here though. First, you don't put Angle against the guy challenging for the Title. They didn't need to have Abyss wrestling. He could of done a cool segment fucking up Sting without him wrestling. He's a sadistic guy. It's easy to film a backstage segment with him torturing Sting or something.

I didn't like that Sting came down to save Angle. Angle should not need any saving. Sting should be the one being saved. I did like Joe having Angle in his hold to end it though. The only thing is I hope they have Joe beat Angle at the PPV. With like a "Savage/Steamboat," "Bret/Piper" kind of endings.

Anyway, I think TNA has improved a lot from the past couple of months. It still needs work. Please SLOW DOWN. They are doing a much better job at giving X guys personalities. Young, Sabin, Shelly, new guy with Shelly, and more. I hope they make it to Monday Night soon.

BTW: Where was Robert Roode last night?

TerranRich 11-17-2006 11:31 AM

Voodoo Kin Mafia

VKM

Gee, what ELSE could that possibly stand for?

(Think Virgil being named after Virgil Runnels, then being named Vincent after you-know-who.)

What Would Kevin Do? 11-17-2006 12:00 PM

The guy with Shelley was "Austin Starr." AKA Austin Aries.

owenbrown 11-17-2006 12:06 PM

Is that all VKM is gonna do is cut worked shoot promos on the WWE?! :wtf:

Loose Cannon 11-17-2006 12:42 PM

That was Austin Aries? Wow, another guy I hated when he was just some old generic X-Division guy doing the same thing as everybody.

I dunno, pure wrestling just turns me away. It's bland to me.

Jeritron 11-17-2006 01:02 PM

I must agree.
Pure wrestling skill is amazing and I think I have a good taste for it. Bret, Benoit, Jericho, Shawn Michaels RVD HHH and Angle are my favorite performers ever, along with Austin and Rock for other reasons. However its the presence of great in ring ability along with great entertainment and characters in the world of the WWE that keeps me watching.

Stickman 11-17-2006 01:23 PM

I flipped back and forth to catch some of this. I couldn't remember anything other than the Cage match, Kurt Angle, and the retarded flag burning thing. I hate Connan. He just annoys me. From what I saw, I guess it could be alright, but there's too many little annoying things that I can't get over. The commentators for one. Abyss sucks. Bashing the WWE, like fuck, worry about your product. In my business we don't go around complaining about the other guys to my customers. And especially the 6 sided ring. The ring makes moves very awkward, you can see guy get whipped into the ropes but have to adjust their path; this occurs in every match.

I dunno, I wouldn't say TNA is any better than before, but it seems like the wrestlers enjoy themselves and boosting the talent with WWE guys is a good thing.

TerranRich 11-17-2006 02:32 PM

If WCW was the smart-ass kid that made fun of the popular but stupid kid (WWF) in class, TNA is the weak little puny kid following in the smart-ass kid's footsteps and failing miserably.

PullMyFinger 11-17-2006 04:47 PM

Even if someone totally hates TNA, there's no way IMO they can hate the Eye Spy segments...I don't know who comes up with the material for that, but it's so hilarious.

The Naitch 11-17-2006 06:09 PM

I'd love to see DX shoot back on VKM next week. But they'll probably pretend like nothing happened

Fox 11-17-2006 07:13 PM

Despite all the bitching in this thread (mostly from WWE marks ups, anyhow), tonight's prime time debut was much much better than anything I've seen out of RAW or Smackdown in years.

Great matches, entertaining angles, kept me watching the entire two hours. I didn't have to switch the channel for stupid shit like a Eugene match, a fat ass white guy in a thong, or a ridiculous DX squash extravaganza. I got a GREAT 3-way match between Daniels, Styles and Sabin, an impressive cage match between Christian and Rhino, and I got to see Kurt Angle step into a TNA ring for the first time.

Even if the show itself wasn't perfect, it's setting up so many great angles:

Sabin as a bitchy, cocky heel, having great matches against Daniels and Styles.

LAX being themselves, which is always entertaining.

Raven's new flock coming into their own.

The continuation of Sting's World Title run.

The push of Angle vs. Joe (which I know will go beyond Genesis)

Styles vs. Christian Cage

Petey Williams as a breakout singles face (the Canadian Destroyer is going to get him over with TNA's new, larger audience)

The only thing I really didn't like is the VKM shit, mostly because I feel that the New Age Outlaws are DEAD in the water of history. They only come off as pathetic, not funny, not interesting, not controversial. Pathetic.

Overall, great show and a great start for TNA. I just hope they can secure 2 hours sometime soon.

Innovator 11-17-2006 07:16 PM

I can see them doing something back at the Outlaws, but it would go over half of the audience's head.

Much as I hate to fellate WWE, the company that's made me personally LOATHE WRESTLING, they don't have to. And they won't, and that's smarter.

Most people are going to see all these shots at WWE for what they're worth: Very little. I mean, a few TNA marks will worship them for doing the only shtick they know how to do--Whine and attack WWE--but most people aren't going to care enough about some half-assed promotion taking shots at WWE, because it looks like sour grapes from bitter would-bes and has-beens.

WWE's in the driver's seat.

Naw, if DX shoots on VKM then it's basically giving TNA free advertising on WWE televison. It would set TNA as an actual competitor in the fans eyes. It's exactly what TNA wants. The best course of action for WWE is to act like TNA doesn't even exist like they've been doing.
