Survivor Series Thread

I noticed there wasn't one. Unusual, it starts in two minutes. I can't be bothered putting together a big intro though. Maybe there is one somewhere. Is ANYONE watching this???

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:01 PM

Well, Ric Flair, Sgt Slaughter, Dusty Rhodes and Ron Simmons w/ Arn Anderson vs. Spirit Squad w/Mitch to kick things off.

Blitz 11-26-2006 09:04 PM

Got the feeling that I will either do really good or really bad in Tipsters tonight.

Crimson 11-26-2006 09:04 PM

*cough*

Blitz 11-26-2006 09:04 PM

No I'm not watching.

The One 11-26-2006 09:06 PM

I remember a day when I couldn't even fathom not buying a Survivor Series PPV, now I can't begin to think of a reason WWE could trick me into ordering any PPV.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:06 PM

I'll do play-by-play for anyone who's interested.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:07 PM

I'm on a two minute delay though. Sky+, ya see.

Simmons and Mikey starting off.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:08 PM

Simmons counted out within seconds.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:08 PM

Mitch has been barred from ringside too.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:09 PM

Arn Anderson has ALSO been barred from ringside.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:10 PM

The referee is on a power trip in the first two minutes of this match, and the crowd is NOT happy with how this match is going so far, with chants of BULLSHIT.

The One 11-26-2006 09:11 PM

I think I speak for everyone when I say, thanks for the updates, but you could just do like one update after every match and give key notes there.

ClockShot 11-26-2006 09:11 PM

Was gonna order it. But I was going to ask the people here to swing me to do so. Too late now.

What the hell happened already?

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:13 PM

Johnny with a lame Johnny Go Round that blatently did not touch Sgt Slaughter, but Nicky pins Sarge. This match is a mess so far.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:14 PM

I'll forget these things though. My memory sucks. For the elimination matches I'll give updates throughout. For the singles matches, I'll just give you the result at the end.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:14 PM

Kenny pins Dusty Rhodes with a roll-up. Flair is on his own.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:15 PM

Actually I think Nicky got eliminated at some point but I missed it. Told you this match was a mess. It's 3 on 1.

Well, Flair's pinned Mikey now, so 2 on 1. I call Kenny as sole survivor.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:16 PM

Well, there goes my prediction. Flair pins Kenny with a cradle. It's Flair vs Johnny.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:17 PM

Johnny taps to the figure four, and Flair is sole survivor.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:17 PM

Can I just say Kenny looks the spitting image of Owen Hart.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:18 PM

5 on 1 mugging by Spirit Squad at the end of the match. No sign of the legends to make the save.

Benoit vs Guerrero is next.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:20 PM

Anyway I'm gonna go sit down and enjoy this show in comfort. It cost me fifteen quid! I'll check in with updates every now and again, if anyone actually cares about this PPV

Blitz 11-26-2006 09:22 PM

The Squad has been buried so deep they will soon begin to mutate into some variety of mole-people.

The One 11-26-2006 09:31 PM

Never liked Spirit Squad. So I don't give a fuck. I guess in the end I would take even modern day Flair over any of them. So...whatever...or something.

The One 11-26-2006 09:31 PM

Also, I like Benoit more than Chavo, but I am hoping Chavo wins tonight.

Rammsteinmad 11-26-2006 09:32 PM

A bunch of old has-beens has beating the Spirit Squad?

Also, Simmons and Andersons being knocked out straight away... I take it neither of them can pull out many moves then.

Rammsteinmad 11-26-2006 09:34 PM

Benoit VS Chavo COULD be match of the night. I want Benoit to win as I'm a Benoit mark, but I'd love to see this match elevate Chavo to the main event, where I feel he's belonged for years.

I think the only thing Simmons can still pull off is "DAMN!"

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:36 PM

Benoit wins with a Crippler Crossface over Chavo. I'm 6 minutes behind now though.

To be honest, barring a Cobra Clutch, Flair was the only "old has-been" to get much offence in during the match. Anderson was not a competitor in the match either, he was just a ringside enforcer. I agree it was pretty lame seeing Simmons and Anderson leave within seconds, especially considering Simmons got the biggest pop of anyone in the match.

Lita vs Mickie is up next...

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:40 PM

Backstage, Cryme Tyme steal all of Lita's belonging from her locker room. And the women's title match is on...

Boondock Saint 11-26-2006 09:47 PM

First Survivor Series I haven't ordered in about 6 years...sad.

Rammsteinmad 11-26-2006 09:49 PM

Was the Benoit/Guerrero match any good?

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:51 PM

Lita just hit the best moonsault she's ever performed... you know, it didn't look like she nearly killed herself for once. Shame she's finally learned to do that in her last match. Mickie hits the Impaler DDT for the 3 count and Mickie is the new champ.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:51 PM

Not really. A bit too short to build up any momentum.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 09:58 PM

Lita gets Lilian Garcia to demand a warm ovation for her final appearance. The fans boo. Lita says the fans don't show her any respect, and she can't think of a better crowd to leave in front of. Cryme Tyme show up with the box of Lita's stuff and says they are going to have a Ho-lesale. They start selling Lita's stuff to the crowd, including her medication for a "yeast infection". JBL buys Lita's panties and sniffs them. WTF? JBL gives them $100 and they stiff him on the change. They find her vibrator in the box. This is getting a bit sick really. A fan gives $25 for LITA'S USED VIBRATOR. Yeah, Attitude still reigns in the WWE.

Now they're out of items, and are selling Lita's BIG BOX. Yeah.

Lita doesn't get quite the sendoff that Trish did.

JBL says he will dig up Johnny Cochrane and sue Cryme Tyme.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:01 PM

Batista gives him best interview in years by saying literally nothing while Michael Cole reels off questions to him. They replay the contract signing attack from SmackDown. (Why has nobody ever learnt to be aware of a potential attack when signing a contract in the ring? I don't think I've EVER seen a contract signing end without an attack.)

Batista finally breaks his silence, with just one sentence. "I'm leaving tonight the World heavyweight champion". Best interview he's ever done.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:02 PM

"What an ovation for Team Xtreme" says Jim Ross as The Hardy Boyz make their entrance to near silence. Team DX vs Team Rated RKO is up next.

Rammsteinmad 11-26-2006 10:07 PM

Lol... Good 'ol JR.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:15 PM

Mike Knox is eliminated by a superkick within seconds of the match starting. Literally, it was the FIRST move of the match. There goes C.M. Punk's storyline reason for being there, huh?

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:16 PM

Crowd are heavily behind Punk, though, chanting his name, and he hasn't even set foot in the ring yet.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:17 PM

Nitro taps to the Anaconda Vice, and its 5 on 3

Skippord 11-26-2006 10:19 PM

Team RKO horribly buried

I smell a lawsuit

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:23 PM

Helms eliminated by Matt Hardy after a Jeff swanton, and its the whole of Team DX vs Rated RKO. Edge and Orton try to walk out on the match, but are sent back into the ring by Team DX.

HBK pins Edge with the superkick.

Ortons on his own...

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:25 PM

One pedigree later, and Team DX survive as a whole.

JR claims that no full team has ever won a Survivor Series match before. I can think of at least one off the top of my head (Jim Duggans team at Survivor Series '91) and I'm not PAID to know these things as a PROFESSIONAL. Even Lawler thinks Team DX is the first full team to survive.

The Genius 11-26-2006 10:29 PM

awesome keep the updates coming

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:29 PM

In fact, Undertaker's "Dark Side" team survived without losing a member at Survivor Series 1995, and Lawler was IN the match...

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:31 PM

It's now the First Blood match. Backstage, MVP says he has Kennedy's back.

Rammsteinmad 11-26-2006 10:38 PM

The DX/RKO match sounds crap. I was hoping for a nice long match with plenty of eliminations and stuff... oh well.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:38 PM

Man this "First Full Team To Survive" remark has been bugging me, so I just did some research, and a team called The Royal Family (Captain's name? Jerry 'The King' Lawler!) survived unscathed at Survivor Series 1994 over Doink The Clown's Clowns R Us team. And it was Lawler who was insisting that Team DX were the first full team ever to win a match at Survivors!!!

Man, the commentary pairing of JR and King are really treading water nowadays.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:44 PM

The Four Doinks (Bushwhackers and Men On A Mission) also won their match at Survivor Series 1993 without losing a single member, as did The Visionaries (Power and Glory, Warlord and Rick Martel) at Survivor Series 1990, for those who care.

So that's FIVE whole teams to survive.

Rammsteinmad 11-26-2006 10:45 PM

This is the exact same as how (I was watching Wrestlemania 19 the other day) Lesnar kicked out of the Angle Slam and Cole and Taz were all "OMG! No ones ever kicked out of the Angle Slam", never mind the fact that at the Royal Rumble just two months earlier Chris Benoit kicked out of two Angle Slams.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:48 PM

Undertaker bladed himself ready for MVP to hit him with a chair but MVP was late on cue, which meant Taker was standing there brawling with Kennedy for about 15 seconds with blood pouring from his forehead before the chairshot which allegedly bust him open.

Anyway, Missssssssssssssssta Kennedddddddddy wins this one.

Kenneddddddddyyyyyy.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:52 PM

Taker hit Kennedy with a rather sick chairshot after the match, busting Ken open. Then he hit him with the Tombstone piledriver. Random note: I wish Taker would go back to wearing the homemade rags he used to wear when he first debuted. They just added to his character so much more than the skintight spandex the so-called "Dead Man" wears nowadays.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:53 PM

How much do I want the Roddy Piper DVD they are advertising now? Man that looks great.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:55 PM

Team Cena vs Team Show next up.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:56 PM

Methinks Undertaker will be putting in another appearance to take out MVP.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 10:57 PM

Random fact: You know why they call him "Test"? He was a test tube baby. Genetically modified freak!

JR- "BAW GAWD, that's the first time Taker's ever been busted open by a chair shot!!!"

Rammsteinmad 11-26-2006 11:05 PM

You better be kidding me.

Rammsteinmad 11-26-2006 11:05 PM

Wait... you must be. This was a Smackdown match.

Evil Vito 11-26-2006 11:08 PM

Fuck.......I originally said Taker would bleed because of a chairshot, then I changed it to microphone

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 11:08 PM

Umaga eliminated early by DQ (within minutes) after going nuts with a monitor from the commentary table.

Kane with a chokeslam on MVP, RVD hits the frog splash, MVP is out.

Test then immediately hits the big boot and RVD is a gonna. It's 4 on 3.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 11:11 PM

Sabu pins Test with a Tornado DDT from the ropes.

Big Show then chokeslams Sabu seconds later for the 3 count.

This match seems very rushed.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 11:12 PM

Finlay hits Kane with a shillelegh, and Big Show chokeslams him for the pin.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 11:13 PM

Cena and Lashley vs Show and Finlay now...

I call a Cena win, to keep him strong going into his big match against.... Federline?? Okay, maybe not then.

Cena is getting a frosty reception from the fans tonight.

Cena FU's the Big Show, and Cena and Lashley win it.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 11:18 PM

Can't believe Cena can STILL F.U. the Big Show, he's bigger than ever!

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 11:19 PM

They celebrate, and Cena TURNS HEEL ON LASHLEY!

He's busted him wide open with the spinner belt. And now he's helping Big Show destroy Lashley.

Testicle 11-26-2006 11:20 PM

No shit, are you shitting me

Rammsteinmad 11-26-2006 11:20 PM

WTF!!! SWEET!!!

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 11:21 PM

Okay, 'fess up, who fell for it?

It's the main event for the World heavyweight title next, Batista vs the champion, King Booker.

Rammsteinmad 11-26-2006 11:22 PM

Rammsteinmad 11-26-2006 11:22 PM

Man, that woulda been awesome if he had.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 11:23 PM

Oh come on! That one line made you sit up and take notice more than ANYTHING that's happened on this PPV so far.

Maybe I should apply for Steph's job?

This was once a man who couldn't be beat in the hardest of hardcore environments, now being pinned by a "big boot."

:nono:

Just go to TNA Rob, this is disgusting. (Granted, he "fucked up", but still...it makes me sick.)

Dude, it's fake. Chill.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 11:26 PM

Fuck up or no fuck up, TNA would have him there tomorrow if they could.

And he would prob end up getting a bigger push than Angle, coz he's less injury prone and less likely to die.

Might sound harsh, but...

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 11:27 PM

Looks like WWE are going to let Booker/Batista go for a good 20 minutes. A mistake surely.

This big Booker/Batista feud, and not one mention of their legit backstage fight. Maybe WWE learned their lesson from the silence and confusion that greeted the Mick Foley/Ric Flair feud over the summer.

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 11:31 PM

Well I'm going to sit back and watch this match (which will surely be a CLASSIC  ) I'll be back with the result, and my overall opinions of the show, when the match is over (and I am now on a nine minute delay too).

I agree. I think there are a ton of people in TNA that RVD could have very high quality matches with consistently. Less work schedule = more high risk moves more often. Not this watered down version of him. I might actually watch wrestling again. Of course, that's just the RVD mark in me talking.

Thanks for the updates by the way, it's making my work evening go by quicker. :y:

RVD VS AJ Styles

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 11:44 PM

Batista nails Booker with the belt to pin him and take the title.

KingofOldSchool 11-26-2006 11:47 PM

:(

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 11:48 PM

Well, if this show had been free in the UK like a lot of our PPVs are, I would have been slightly more satisfied by it. However, fifteen quid for this show feels like I got ripped off a bit.

It felt very rushed, nothing much of note occurred, no storyline developments, no new notable feuds, no turns, nothing. The only lasting difference this show made was in crowning Batista as the new champion. Pretty weak PPV in all, unfortunately.

Gerard 11-26-2006 11:49 PM

Seems to have been a night for the faces, don't think a single heel won tonight. :-\

NeanderCarl 11-26-2006 11:49 PM

Oh, and the match I was most looking forward to (Spirits vs Legends) was a total mess! :(
