Rate the megaman series' from first to last

Zero>X>Classic>Battle Network>Legends

X vs Classic was REALLY tough to decide. And even though x7 was awful, and there were no bad games in the classic series, X's jump to ps1 and the games for that system edge it out a bit. Even if no x game captured the magic of 2.(although the first x game came close)

And speaking of capturing the magic of 2, that brings me to my top pic. Zero. I beat the game in 2 days, the second staying up till 3 a.m. to accomplish the task. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. Seriously thought I was going to have a seizure the next day. It takes a major departure from the norm by adding upgradable weapons, missions as opposed to 8 robot bosses, and the cyber-elf system. But it adds SO MUCH depth to a franchise that never had a whole lot. All while retaining the amazing gameplay that makes megaman so awesome in the first place.

COME ON PEOPLE

Damn it, where the hell are funky and rdd. They'd be all over this shit.

Classic>X>Zero>Whatever the fuck is left

UmbrellaCorporation 12-09-2006 05:24 PM

I dunno, come on. I LOVED Legends, and think it should be higher than the Zero series.

Or not, I dunno. Zero series is amazingly awesome too. And while some of the X games (I'm looking at you, X7) seem a bit rehashed, I still loved it with every fiber of my being.

So I'm gonna have to go:

X > Classic /Legends (if nothing more than the Tron Bonne spinoff game) > Zero > Battle Network (even then being last, I don't see BN as being a bad series at all, as it completely amazed me. Megaman is the only series in which I have loved EVERY game, aside from RE. Thank you, Capcom.).

road doggy dogg 12-09-2006 07:12 PM

Ummmmmmm classic wins for music alone.

M-A-G 12-11-2006 04:26 PM

Classic owns it all. X was just too dark, Legends and Battle Network practically had nothing to do with Mega Man and I never bothered with the Zero series.

Fignuts 12-11-2006 07:41 PM

You should. Its awesome, albeit crazy hard. I like challenges though. Maybe thats why zero is my favorite.

Fignuts 12-11-2006 10:06 PM

Bass>Protoman

M-A-G 12-12-2006 06:52 PM

Haha, Bass always gets his ass kicked.

Although when you're talking awesome robots, look no further than my avatar.

classic>*

Gulak 12-12-2006 09:02 PM

The X series. And Sigma would kill Bass and Protoman.

Then the Classic, then battle network, then Zero, then Legends.

Arashi Kage 12-12-2006 10:48 PM

Only ever played classic and X, not any of the other 3.

The only problem I had with the X series, was Sigma coming back every game. It was like, "oh, Sigma is back again....... how many times do we have to destroy this guy?". Actually, I think it was X5 or 6 that didn't have Sigma, but at the end of the game, it hinted that he was alive. I may be mistaken, been years since I play any of them, and never played the newest X game.

Dorkchop 12-12-2006 11:11 PM

Classic. For it's time it was amazing. I still find 2 and 3 awesome to this day. I played X, found it ok. Never played any of the other ones due to no interest.

dablackguy 12-12-2006 11:46 PM

X>Classic>Zero>Legends> B.N.

again, REALLY CLOSE between the X series and Classic

To me, the deciding factor is the X series being slightly more challenging than the original. Otherwise they're basically even, about 4 good games or so in each series. I don't consider MM5 or MM6 to be anything more than average while MM1-MM4 ranged from great to excellent.

MMX-MMX4 were also great (X3 is a TOUGH game early on) X5 and X6 were mediocre. I won't talk about X7 because as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't even exist.

Zero is a good series and Legends had its moments. Never really got into B.N.

Fignuts 12-13-2006 12:15 AM

Yeah being that zero is such a departure from the normal formula, I knew I'd be in the minority. I mainly like it most because out of all of them it is the most challenging. But not to the point where its not fun. Its perfect. The boss fights are better than any other megaman game, with the exception of megaman 2.

Dr. Wily anyone? Even when it would've been good or wasn't supposed to be Wily, it was Wily. Mega Man and Bass was the worst offender of this.

OssMan 12-13-2006 11:06 PM

yo megaman 2 on NES was hard as krap. i forget the level but it was the one where you were constantly falling and you had to dodge the beams coming in from the side. Could anybody seriously beat that level.

What dablackguy said. It was that *@&(@(!*@#* robot named Quick Man. You could either beat the level by trying to land close to the next ledge you need to drop off or use Flash Man's Time Stopper to prevent the beams from firing.

Fignuts 12-14-2006 10:25 PM

Which meant you couldn't use it on quick man. Who is a bastard even WITH time stopper.

Batsu 12-14-2006 11:27 PM

Classic > X > Anything Else

Mega Man 2 had the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time) soundtrack.

I tried the new shits where Megaman is some kind of gay tamagotchi shits and was sorely disappointed.

Therefore, my rating is as follows:

X>classic>gay shits.

Fignuts 12-15-2006 12:48 AM

Classic is way too easy for me to consider it the best. I am a masochistic game player.

tucsonspeed6 12-15-2006 11:39 AM

I loved the Legends series also. I haven't played any other besides the classic series though.

Ideally, you should be able to refill the Time Stopper before you get to him. My trick is whittling him down to about half his energy with the regular blaster and then just switching to the Time Stopper to clean up.

I don't know, man. The fortress stages and Crash Man's stage kinda grated on me. I'd go with 4 or 5 as far as good music. Gyro Man, Crystal Man, Ring Man, Bright Man, and Stone Man had some nice tunes.

Fignuts 12-15-2006 07:31 PM

WHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

While I agree about crash man, The first fortress stage is one of the best Megaman tunes ever. There should be no debate that 2 had the best music.

Also, I want to try XZ. I guess the gameplay is like Zero except the story is set another 1000 years in the future, and it has a lighter tone to it. Which sucks, because i was really enjoying the story in Zero as well as the atmosphere.

The One 12-15-2006 09:24 PM

Oh and M-A-G...Bubbleman is nothing compared to the awesomeness of Metal Man.

Proto > Metal > Rush > Guts&Cuts (only for the cartoon) > Mega > The rest... (with Bubble ending up average at best)

And what the fuck was with turning GRAY for bubbleman? How dumb.

Fignuts 12-15-2006 10:21 PM

Woodman alread called green.

Dude, just whack Metal Man with one of his own blades and he's toast. Hardly 'awesomeness' if you ask me. Bubble Man's got the bubbles. THE BUBBLES, BY GAWD!!!

Mega Man 2 is the greatest NES game of all-time

Quickman #1

M-A-G 12-18-2006 04:55 PM

It's Quick Man. We're in America. :p

http://www.thereaper3000.homestead.c.../BubbleMan.JPG

OK, let's look at the top three contenders here. First, there's Metal Man. Sure, he looks rather pissed and evil and ready to cut you a new one and yeah, Quick Man below him ready to dazzle you with annoying as hell superior speed but just check out Bubble Man! He's got that nasty look in his eye and his cannon locked and loaded ready to pop a bubble in your ass if you're not careful. And if he's out of ammo, he'll beat the sh*t out of you with that surfboard thing on his back. I rest my case.

Fignuts 12-18-2006 10:39 PM

Crash man was always my favorite.

Blitz 12-19-2006 12:36 AM

Shadow Man.

Blitz 12-19-2006 12:36 AM

Followed very closely by Tornado Tonion.

M-A-G 12-19-2006 01:30 PM

The X Masters can suck it. I mean, Split Mushroom? Wire Sponge? Overdrive OSTRICH? WTF?

Fignuts 12-19-2006 07:06 PM

Phoenix Magnon, and Magma Dragoon were pretty badass tbh.

Pretty sure Bubble man was just a big green turd though.

Fignuts 12-19-2006 07:07 PM

Sting Chameleon was also way fuckin tough.

Getting back to the music, anyone remember Gemini Man's from part 3? Someone went funky on the synthesizer.

Nah, I didn't mean it like that. Hes easy to beat.

Also, maybe if bubble man layed off the cheeseburgers he wouldn't be such a fatty fat fat loser.

I have used the word 'funky' four times in this thread.

Funky Fly 12-20-2006 09:58 PM

Yeah, I'm gonna call gimmick infringement in a second.

Destor 12-20-2006 10:09 PM

Shadow man > Fignuts + M-A-G

Fignuts 12-21-2006 12:29 AM

Well I've actually never in my life died on Shadow man. So that is obviously false.

Destor 12-21-2006 12:43 AM

And you've died on M-A-G?

Fignuts 12-21-2006 12:48 AM

He's cheap as hell.

Shadow 12-21-2006 03:40 AM

What's with all the BN hatred? Sure it's not Megaman as we all know, love, and wish we were him but come on. BN was a kick ass series.

But in order, X>Classics>BN>Zero>Legends. Keep in mind that they all kick major ass, you have to rank 'em some how.

Here we see Magnet Man also attempting to find his inner groove but comes up short as Shadow Man is just untouchable.

Funky Fly 12-21-2006 06:50 PM

Man, I always used to get raped by Spark Mandril till I figured out that hhe jobs to Chill Penguin's ice blasts, followed by Storm Eagle's horizontal tornado thing.

Also, was anyone ever able to get that hadouken shot in Megaman X I kept hearing about it, but never got around to trying to get it.

Fignuts 12-21-2006 09:19 PM

Yeah its gay though, cause you have to go through hell to get it, and it only works if you have a full life bar. Which you never have in instances where the haduken would prove useful.

Funky Fly 12-21-2006 09:27 PM

Full life bar? Shoula figured there'd be some gayness.

Fignuts 12-21-2006 09:33 PM

You also have to input the haduken button combo. Good luck getting a boss to stand still long enough to do so.

M-A-G 12-22-2006 11:42 PM

You have to have everything in the game. All the weapons from the bosses, all 8 of the heart tanks, all 4 sub-tanks, and a lot of lives (at least 5). Once you have all the stuff, go to Armored Armadillo's stage. At the end where you fly off the track on the rail cart, make sure you jump off and grab the wall above the entrance to the Robot Master. Climb all the way up to the top ledge and you should just see an energy capsule. Immediately after doing this, kill yourself. Repeat this process 4 more times and after the fifth time when you climb the ledge, a pink capsule should be there. Enter it to receive the fireball. Like stated, you need to be at full health and do the standard fireball motion: Down to Forward + Y.

Fignuts 12-23-2006 12:45 AM

see?

gay

M-A-G 12-23-2006 01:39 AM

Oh, and you need that doohickey that lets you charge all your weapons. As if it wasn't hard enough. Getting the Dragon Punch in X2 was just as bad.

You can totally whack Sigma in just one shot.

Fignuts 12-23-2006 07:58 PM

Sigma was a little bitch in the first one though. Vile was harder imo. Now Sigma in X3 caused many SNES controllers to go airborne.

M-A-G 12-24-2006 12:34 AM

Yeah, X3 was just bleh and a half. The Beam Saber solved all of those problems. Zero sucked ass in the game anyway.

M-A-G 12-26-2006 02:54 AM

Since I'm bored and about half asleep, my fav robot masters from the games:

Mega Man: Elec Man (THE THUNDER BEAM, BITCH!)
Mega Man 2: Bubble Man :)
Mega Man 3: Gemini Man. Unique out of the bunch and his music was weird
Mega Man 4: Dust Man. And don't make no "he sucks" jokes
Mega Man 5: Tough but I'd have to go with Crystal Man
Mega Man 6: Centaur Man. Again, very unique out of the lot
Mega Man 7: Close between Turbo Man and Freeze Man but while Turbo Man is cool because of his attempt to kill through vehicular manslaughter Freeze Man gets the nod because he actually DARES you to bring it. That's just awesome!
Mega Man 8: Tengu Man
Mega Man and Bass: Tengu Man. Everyone else was annoying as hell.
