Venture Brothers
This show is insanly underrated.
|
It's my favorite [Adult Swim] show. :D
|
Venture Brothers is by far the best cartoon on that network; the humor on the show is actually cleverly written jokes instead of just throwing random shit together or referencing stuff from the 80s (though they do that, too, but at least they're witty about it). It's the only [AS] original show that I can even stomach watching.
|
One of my favorite shows
|
Adult Swim sucks now adays, aside from Robot Chicken and Venture Bros. and the occasional Aqua Team Hunger Force.
But yes, the show is the goods. |
You're forgetting Harvey Birdman.
|
omg your right.
|
Yeah, awesomeness.

I seriously could not stop laughing for 5 minutes straight afetr the beginning of this episode. |
i got really into it the first season, but the two episodes i saw from this new season didnt do it for me. i'll have to check it out again.

I always liked the episode with Dr. Henry Killinger and his Magic Murder Bag. |

The new season is even funnier IMO. |
It's alright. As far as I'm concerned Aqua Teen is far above anything else. Harvey Birdman is a distant second.
|
While we're talking about Adult Swim shows, Frisky Dingo is the balls.
|
Wanna see that show so bad. For some reason AS doesn't start til midnight here.

hang on. 1,000th post.
|
okay. hey, has anyone seen Happy Tree Freinds and Friends on G4? it's a cartoon of cute little forest creatures with fairly bad animation. the twist being that every character is like Kenny McCormick in that they all die grusome deaths in every episode.
|
Yeah, I thought it was unwatchable.
|
it does get old pretty quick. it's almost like cringe humor. some of it is just so damn grusome that it's funny.
|
I guess. Have you seen Assy-Mgee? Cause I think the same people who like that would probably like Happy Tree Freinds.
|
FIGNUTS DID YOU SEE THE HALLOWEEN SPECIAL
seriously this show just keeps delivering. Season 4 was amazing. Halloween special was almost worth the two-year wait. Actually, for the developments alone, I will even go ahead and say it was totally worth it. |
I didn't even remember we had a Venture Bros. thread
|
You can't remember something from 6 years ago? You senile old fool.
|
getting old and losing my memory :'(
|
NO I DID NOT MITCH.VERY UPSET I MISSED IT. WILL NOW GO OUT INTO THE WORLD AND UNLEASH MY ANGER ON IT
|
One might even say I'm going to VENTURE out into the world.
|
Love the Venture Bros.

Nice. Found a torrent of every season in mp4 format in the process.

Hank dies at the end
thought it was a dark direction to go |
Ahaha this was great.
Really hope J.K. Simmons stays on. Loved Ben and Rico. |

Discovered this show via Netflix. Took me awhile to get into it, but I'm a fan. Great piece of mindless entertainment.
|
Too bad only season one is up on Netflix so far. You got a lot to look foward to, NBT. It only gets better.
|
Yeah, first season is good, but it's definitely the weakest.
|
it also gets way less mindless

yeah, they were obviously finding their feet in season one (the creators have even said they had no idea where they were going with the "rusty is pregnant" storyline when they began it, for example). but after, even a little bit during, season one, the tapestry tightens and, honest to god, it develops one of the strongest continuities and universes i've seen in a tv program. there is so much to it. so far beyond being mindless entertainment now.
so did any of you guys watch the premiere? thoughts? SPOILER: show pretty stupendous return, really. it almost felt like two years of my life hadn't passed between the prom and the pick-up. |
didn't realise fignuts had posted a link to the full episode. kind of makes my question redundant. WATCH IT, if you have not.
uh, and if you're up to speed on your venture bros. not gonna make a tonne of sense otherwise, i guess. |
For those that need a refresher:

where were you when I watched the premiere and had forgotten a lot of stuff since I hadn't rewatched the season 4 finale since 2010?
|
my lady and i cosplayed as the monarch and dr mrs the monarch for a con back in april. it was badass.
we ran into a 21 as well, so we got some photos with him, which i think are still on her camera. but that was cool. supposed to be a venture bros. group getting put together for the con in november too so that should be sweet. |
The "Soylent Green" bit was priceless. I thought they were just going to slip that under the radar with an offhand comment, and they went all the way with it. :y:
That's one of the joys with this show. |
|
Wonder if she's wearing the poisoned heels.
|
episode two was classic ventures. really liked the re-appearance of the shaggy/fred pastiches. nice touch. there were a couple of other blink-and-you'll-miss-it references and things that i'd have to rewatch the episode to properly recall - i'm pretty sure there was even a wayne's world joke in there (the "five, four, three..." *mouths two and one* countdown bit). ughhh this season is going to be SO FUCKING GOOD.
|
Hank as Jungle Batman
|
that was amazing. hank (and dean, actually) - frighteningly capable under the right circumstances.
also, going back to the premiere - i have been saying "eat the pennies, quizboy" like augustus st cloud a lot ever since. no idea why, even. |
Wait, where were the fred and shaggy clones?
|
Quote:
they were kind of like venturestein's 21 and 24, i guess? - they're with him during the flashback scene (when the two lead -steins, which are hank and dean clones, get blown up) - and then they're around a fair bit back at the temple complex where venturestein is holding doc and hatred. http://s.gullipics.com/image/b/i/l/8...64EVOLVEs.jpeg that's them dragging rusty away, left column, third from top. |
I also enjoyed the Human Centipede when all the abominations showed up
|
third episode was good, but i don't know if i liked it as much as the first two - which feels strange to say because the premise was amazing. just don't know if the execution was on-point. i dunno, might need a rewatch. i was a little thrown by all the new faces, i guess? not that i'm saying it was a bad episode. but afterwards i felt very much like the grand galactic inquisitor having seen rusty's dreams: that was a weird one.
|
The fuck, how is this not on piratebay yet?
|
it is. or it's at least on kickass.to
try there |
That was awesome. Was the black guy Tim Meadows?
|
yeah
Hank as the countess made me laugh every time. Also Cobra Commander guy was incredible. |
That's so raven.

Interesting how Jonas was both a very caring father AND a very neglectful one.
Speaking of children... yeah, got a good laugh with the "suspicious" looking kids showing up. Wonder how many more are around the world? |
HOLY CRAP!!!
|
Saw Paget Brewster had some voice credits in last night's episode.
Damn, I wish she was back on TV. |
So many little things I forgot about. Pretty sure Brock killed the guy whose costume Shore Leave used in a previous episode. Lots of continuity.

AND WE'RE BACK <3
premiere was fantastic. venture bros -- and archer, while we're at it -- utterly excels when it shakes up the status quo and burns down the house (literally, in this case). and the new setting of new york -- with a clean-ish slate, new characters, and reversed fortunes for everyone from the ventures and the monarchs to the entire guild of calamitous intent -- is crammed with potential and possibility and i am fucking STOKED so much good stuff in this ep - loved hank's rotating bieber wardrobes. - great nod with "mr reachmore" (vale mr reachy). - wide wale is a pretty great villain. strange portmanteau of kingpin and don corleone and... a whale... but probably a good replacement for the sort of 'white-collar monster-criminal' role mostly played sporadically by monstroso up till now. clearly gonna be a pretty big player (no pun) this season. - crusader action league were amazing. was nice seeing a distinct dc/marvel bent to the new york heroes. greatly enjoyed the fallen archer (A+ name) and his blatant fusion of oliver queen and clint barton. - loved "night dick". the whole thing. the concept and execution were beautiful. - was good to see brown widow back too, loved his exchange with his teacher-bully. - nice to see brock return as the ventures' bodyguard, but i have really fallen in love with sgt hatred over the past couple of seasons so i hope this yields something good for that character too. - "i don't even care about the breast thing, i wanna do you! ... what happened?" - h.e.l.p.er's feud with new/improved venture-bot thing was great, and had the exact resolution i wanted it to. nobody messes with h.e.l.p.er. - the fallout from the sovereign's betrayal is the most interesting thing to happen to the guild in years. kind of love how monarch and 21 have been left at home to their own devices while dr. mrs. is at work. also loved the swerve about wide whale being after his arching rights to dr. venture rather than the obvious sex pest angle. - meta joke about "diversity" in the council was pretty great. - also enjoying the heightened screen time for radical left. i know he's a blatant two-face homage but he's done pretty brilliantly. questions/discussion - i was stoked to see dr. z and red mantle/dragoon hybrid back on the council of 13 (or seven atm, whatever), but didn't they turn themselves over to the OSI in exchange for amnesty during the events of all this & gargantua-2? are they moles in the guild? or are we just forgetting that they did that? vb is a show with continuity too thick for a rookie mistake like that, i would think, so i expect there's a reason they're there - whether at the OSI's command or because they've since severed ties, idk. - where does this leave the order of the triad? orpheus was renting on doc's property; has he moved to new york too? will we ever get to see the sweet little magical pudding that is the alchemist ever again? only seven weeks remain of this season so let's all enjoy this while we can before we have to wait another three years for the next one and put up with amateur whiners like rick & morty fans ("boo hoo, a year and a half until season three!" - get fucked.) |
... and I'm digging this up because of GODDAMN SEASON SEVEN, BITCHES!!!
I legit had to go back and rewatch all three episodes thus far, because, damn. I can never mention enough how much I love this fucking show. |
I own all the seasons. I wait to binge them tho once the dvds drop

... and another cliffhanger for an indeterminate amount of time.
Of course, I will wait forever for more Venture Bros., but c'mon with the making way more unanswered questions! |
Just binge watched the entire 7th season.
Ridiculous how good this show is. Nothing on television is this consistent. Nothing. |
