The 2003 TPWW Wrestling Year End Awards Nominations
Ok it's that time of year again, time for the 2003 TPWW Year End Wrestling Awards. This year I'm going to do things a bit differently, instead of me picking the entries for each category, I'm going to ask for your guys help.
After each category, nominate your top 5 in each category. I will accept nominations up until next Friday. Once the nominations close, I will go through and take the TOP 10 nominations in every category and they will be moved to the actual voting which will start on the 22nd of December and will end on New Year's Day. Without any further adue here are the categories... If any of the Angle VS Lesnar matches are up for match of the year, it has to be the Wrestlemania match. The other 2 don't even come close, IMO.
And yeah, Goldberg is always really careful now everytime he does that punch/kick thing in his entrance. He rarely even does the kick at all know after he fu</>cked over at Summerslam. Haha. I'll do some nominations tomorrow. Can't be bothered now. |

Chris Jericho - The MVP of RAW, hands down. Brock Lesnar - Can't argue with multiple WWE Title reigns. Tag Team of the Year: Dudley Boyz - Sure, they're getting stale, but the crowd still loves 'em. Los Guerreros - The most entertaining duo of the year. Kyo Dai - Sure, these guys haven't wrestled yet, but...they're cool! La Resistance - So what if it's cheap heat? The guys are golden. World's Greatest Tag Team - The most appropriately-named team ever. Pay-Per-View of the Year: The only ones I saw this year were Royal Rumble and WMXIX. Diva of the Year: Molly Holly - The best. Period. Stephanie McMahon - Toned her character down, became more interesting. Trish Stratus - No one (man or woman) has ever improved faster. Victoria - The best gimmick in the women's division. Torrie Wilson - Playboy. End of story. Match of the Year: (Again, I didn't see many PPVs, so most of these were free) Angle/Benoit - Technical masterpiece Angle/Lesnar Iron Man Match - Best free match I've seen in years. <b>Wrestler of the Year</b>: I would have to say for wrestler of the year, I would go unanimously for <b>John Cena</b>. This guys gimmick is great, he plays well into it, his finisher I could live without, however, there is a lot coming for this man. If anything, he deserves this title.
<b>Tag Team of the Year</b>: Hurricane and Rosey is very tempting due to gimmick play, however I think that the not so long lived return of the Filthy Animals (Billy Kidman and Rey Mysterio) takes the cake. Great ring work. But there is still much more to be considered, such as sell to crowd, team work, and gimmick play. The winner of this catagory is <b>Los Guerreros</b>. <b>Pay-Per-View of the Year</b>: Unforgiven is one that would be nominated had Goldberg not been handed the title on a silver platter. This year's nomination is for <b>Survivor Series</b> because of the return of the classic Survivor match (Two Of Them!), and the Buried Alive match set up the possible return of the Phenom (sp?) Undertaker (which may be a catalyst for a possible Kane vs. Taker Inferno Match). A good show all around. <b>Diva of the Year</b>: The new comer <b>Gail Kim</b> takes it. Wins title on first night, has some good moves. <b>Match of the Year</b>: This one is so ****ing hard to choose. I will name various: <b>the Michaels-Jericho match at WMXIX, or the Angle-Lesnar match at WMXIX, Guerrero-Benoit-Rhyno-Tajiri at Summerslam, WGTT-Filthy Animals match at Vengeance, IC Battle Royal at Judgement Day</b>, so many of them. So I nominate all five listed here. <b>Shocker of the Year</b>: Of all the shockers, the one that really should be noted is <b>Shane McMahon's return</b>. Some of us knew, we just didn't know when. A few other shockers; Rowdy Roddy Piper's return, Lesnar misses SSP, and Triple H loses the title. <b>Most Improved Wrestler of the Year</b>: Randy Orton. Hands down. <b>Entrance Theme of the Year</b>: <b>Evolution's theme</b>. Both versions of it, Motorhead and Jimmy Johnson. <b>The Non WWE Promotion of the Year</b>: <b>NWA-TNA</b>. John Cena, Eddie Guerrero & Chris Benoit (tie) (3 greatly improved and underrated talents that carried SmackDown! for much of the year) Tag Team of the Year: 1. World's Greatest Tag-Team (Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas) (what a team) 2. Los Guerreros (Eddie Guerrero & Chavo Guerrero) (these guys are truly incredible together) 3. Chris Jericho & Christian (funny, talented, what more could you want) 4. Basham Brothers (Doug Basham & Danny Basham) (what a great rookie team, so much improvement since their debut) 5. Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley & D-Von Dudley) (consistently important to RAW) Pay-Per-View of the Year: 1. WWE WrestleMania (an amazing, memorable event) 2. WWE Royal Rumble (Benoit-Angle) 3. WWE Vengeance (lots of good matches from SmackDown!) 4. WWE Summerslam (Angle-Brock part 2 & Elimination Chamber #2) 5. WWE Survivor Series (Team Bischoff vs. Team Austin was definitely a classic) Diva of the Year: 1. Trish Stratus (gets better every time she steps into the ring) 2. Angle's stellar performance at Mania with an injured neck Most Improved Wrestler of the Year: 1. John Cena (wow, has this guy gotten better and more over or what) 2. Matt Hardy (what great performances this year against the likes of Mysterio) 3. Trish Stratus (carrying the women's division) 4. Randy Orton (still hasn't had that standout match, but still a joy to watch) 5. Big Show (actually enjoyable this year and starting to find chemistry as a big man in the ring) Entrance Theme of the Year: 1. John Cena (what a suitable and fitting theme song) 2. Evolution (catchy as hell) 3. Eddie Guerrero (crowd erupts) 4. Matt Hardy (the whole video package is truly one of a kind) 5. Victoria (certainly sets her apart from the other women) The Non WWE Promotion of the Year: 1. NWA-TNA (can't wait to see a TV deal) 2. ROH (the best of the indies) 3. UPW (Sakoda, Kazarian, Cena, Victoria, Heidenreich, all UPW standouts) 4. OVW (all WWE stars start somewhere, lots of them debuted this year; unfortunately, lots disappointed) 5. NWA Wildside (some good indy action and a refreshing change from WWE) Announcer of the Year: 1. Tazz (this guy is a joy to listen to and he can definitely make you laugh) 2. Michael Cole (starting to call the action like a true specialist) 3. Jim Ross (during every vital match, Ross proves he still has tremendous passion) 4. Mike Tenay (carrying NWA-TNA from an announcing point of view) 5. Josh Matthews (improved tremendously, actually a pretty funny guy) PPV Theme Song of the Year: 1-5. No Clue Blooper of the Year: 1. Brock lands on his neck with his first Shooting Star Press attempt in WWE 2. Nathan Jones slips on his WWE debut when attempting a modified kick 3. Goldberg slips on his way to the ring 4. Jackie Gayda's nipple slips on a live episode of WWE RAW 5. Scott Steiner slips off the ring apron Most deteriorated wrestler: 1. Ultimo Dragon (put on Velocity right away, not even given a chance) 2. Rhyno (Vince must really hate this guy) 3. Scott Steiner (a potential main event talent drained away for being a face too long) 4. Kanyon (not even given a chance since coming back from injury) 5. Sean O'Haire (Piper released, O'Haire buried, kind of a trend) Honorable Mention: Lance Storm (the boring angle was truly an insult to Storm) Best TV show: 1. WWE RAW (live excitement every week, show has improved a lot this year) 2. WWE SmackDown! (solid talent, solid action, week in and week out) 3. NWA-TNA (truly an alternative from WWE, something much needed) 4. WWE Confidential (interesting show) 5. WWE Velocity (a good place to catch a lot of the great stars on the SmackDown! brand that don't get a chance to shine: Paul London, Spanky, Ultimo Dragon, Funaki, Rhyno, Sean O'Haire, Kanyon, etc) Worst TV show: 1. WWE Bottom Line ( :-\ ) 2. WWE Afterburn ( :-\ ) 3. WWE HeAT (this show has truly become a waste of anybody's time) 4. WWE Velocity (a good alternative to SmackDown!, yes, a good show, not really) 5.
