Triple H has suffered what looks to be another quadriceps tear in the tag team match at New Year's Revolution.

This sucks, because I was looking forward to a HHH vs Cena match at WM match.

We can only hope that there is a lot of swelling and its not as serious as first thought. He hasn't had an MRI or anything, so this is just preliminary

If Triple H is injured as bad as they think he is, he definitly won't be at Wrestlemania, which means Bret Hart's record of 12 straight Wrestlemania's will not even be tied by Triple H who is now at 11. It'll be the first Wrestlemania without Triple H since 1995.

If it's severe enough, this may have been his final run. It's possible, on the flip side of it not being that bad, that it could be career ending.

I wouldn't want to see Hunter to go out like this. I would prefer at least one more run with the title as a heel without Michaels.

In light of these new developments, I'd say that if DX were to face VKM now, I'd have to put my money on VKM

Also of note is the fact that he suffered this injury EXACTLY five years to the DAY that he returned at Madison Square Garden from his previous quad tear.

As I said in the NYR thread, this could well be a work in order to get HHH over for WrestleMania as the valiant hero returning from severe injury to recapture the WWE Championship.

Funny how, when I read that, I said "Fuck the championship run" in my mind.

WWE must have just shit themselves. What becomes of DX? What becomes of Wrestlemania? Who is their most established veteran star?
On the good side, Edge and Randy Orton just move up a notch each in the food chain...

I'm not going to lose any sleep over this. As much as Triple H is good at what he does, and as much as I'd never wish harm on another human being, all I can say is that from an entertainment perspective, no Triple H is not going to bother me. I'm sorry, but this D-Generation X shit ending is good, in my opinion.

I never considered this ending his in-ring career, but the guy cannot be poor. He's got a daughter now, he's got enough pull backstage. If the guy is really considering running the WWE when Vince steps down, maybe retiring from in-ring competition is the best thing? It's not like there are any dream matches left for him. It's not like there were too many in the first place.

Triple H had just tied Bret Hart for most consecutive Wrestlemania appearances too, so if this sidelines him for more than a couple months (most likely the case) that means no record for him. And as for the main event, I didn't think the plan was to ever have Umaga win that match or the title. Even if that were the case I doubt HHH's injury would have change things, as in the past they have had other things gone as planned and figured it out afterwards.

As for HHH's long term plans pre-injury, who knows what they were but my theory is they'll either work around them or just put someone else in his scheduled spot...most likely Shawn.

The biggest problem about him "stepping down" from in ring compettition is, in the eyes of him and the WWE (and they're probably right), the company needs HHH. He's the last remaining active superstar from the attitude era and thats why the gush over him so much. As much as they've pushed Cena and Batista, we know as well as they do they aren't as well known or bankable.

For the WWE, this couldn't come at a worse time. Mid-January going into Wrestlemania their biggest, most coveted star (technically I guess it's Cena, but their most go to is HHH) goes down. This is a nightmare for them, at least in their eyes. Triple H is down, and Angle has left. Those 2 were their go to guys for main events annually. This will mark the first post-attitude wrestlemania without those 2 involved in the nights main event(s).

If Undertaker and Shawn weren't planned on being used to lend credibility to the main events before, they are now. Technically, this is what you or I would say is a good thing for the sake of guys like Punk, Orton, Edge and whoever getting pushes. But for WWE it's a nightmare and they're just gonna go to their next top veterans.

You're absolutely correct, and I have made similar statements in the past to Triple H being kept at the top merely for the fact he was main eventing when Austin and The Rock were around. It serves the WWE right for not building up more talent.

John Cena vs. Triple H would have stopped me from ordering WrestleMania, honest to God. The idea just bores me. Of course, the WWE won't actually elevate talent in this time of "crisis", they will just bring back Hulk Hogan for "one more match!". :roll:

What are the plans for DX now? Isn't Shawn on a limited schedule as it is, and his whole "degenerate" gig is severely less than HHH who has been carrying the duo HBK once led.
It'd be nice to see Triple H on cruches and Shawn turn on him for being a cripple and go back to the cocky, arrogant, punk heel he once was and then win the rumble. They havent done anything good with Shawn since his return.

A lot of signs point to this being a work, ie. Orton and Edge working on his quad which they knew kept him out for ages, WWE saying they will report on it Monday afternoon, in time for RAW. The pictures of HBK near enough doing surgery on Trips in the locker room. It's probably a work.

However if not then it can't be too serious, not as serious as last time anyway, didn't he need helped up the ramp and all last time>

The reason I can't see it being a work is simply as the match went completely and utterly to shit after it happened. Trips clearly shouts 'knee' at the ref, and when he's by the turnbuckle Michaels asks him if they should do the ended they had planned (obviously the pedigree and elbow through the tables) and Trips says 'yeah'. The RKO was comical, as was Orton running in and running away with the chair...I'm still chuckling at that now actually...and moves just looked ridiculous.

As for Trips, he was helped to the top of the ramp, and then after the posing, helped again. Love him or hate him, he'd work through the pain in an attempt to make it look good. How he ever survived that Walls Of Jericho on the table the last time he did it, I'll never know.

That's legit. You can see how his leg buckles under him during the Spinebuster. His foot went one way and his knee went another.

I'm surprised that Hunter even continued, hit a Spinebuster and took the RKO, which could have fucked it up worse.

As for the chair, I guess Triple H called for it and since he got in during the Pedigree he didn't want to interrupt, probably because he thought he was going to end the match.

I guess Orton isn't very good with on-the-fly spots.

Kinda ironic considering that Directv aired a Royal Rumble Legends show hosted by Todd Grisham which chroncialed past rumble events and talked about HHH winning the 02 rumble after tearing his quad.

Sometimes, I look at Orton and think, "Wow, this guy is the future of the business" in a totally positive way...and then he does this shit and I say "Wow, how does this guy have a job?"

Christ, that match really went downhill after he hurt himself. Someone wasn't joking when they said that the crowd went dead silent for the rest of the match either. That was painful to watch. Especially after that RKO, if I was Orton, I wouldn't have done my cocky pose after that, I would have hid underneath the ring and died.

Why would anyone think that Orton doesn't deserve a job after this? HHH couldn't support his own weight during the RKO, and the chair was a matter of miscommunication.

The RKO wasn't Orton's fault, but that spot with a steel chair looked really fucking stupid. I mean, the guy was center of the ring, and he ran like a pussy for no reason at all. To be perfectly frank, I think Marty Elias should have been on his toes, and threatened to disqualify Orton or something, giving him a kayfabe reason for Orton to leave the ring, and explaining why Edge could just kick out of the Pedigree.

Orton really shattered the illusion in this match, and while I'm not going to hate on the guy for that (everyone makes mistakes), this says one thing to me: This guy is not ready to be the top guy, yet. With rumours of John Cena vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania making the rounds, I sincerely hopes the WWE scratches this one off their list.

You really have to believe Chris Jericho is aching to come back and show off his new haircut. I do not see why Jericho would not agree to come back if he got to win the Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant, and headline WrestleMania against John Cena. As much as I hate to say it, keeping the belt on Cena would probably be a smart move (unless Jericho signed a two-year contract, or something), and keeping his winning streak at WrestleMania alive is probably a good thing, but Cena vs. Jericho at Mania would be fucking awesome.

Probably going to wind up being Edge vs. Cena for WWE title, but not the main event.

You're probably right. I wouldn't complain about that match, as I think it would have a pretty good feel to it (both guys have undefeated streaks at WrestleMania, so that adds a little sizzle to the steak), and they have fantastic chemistry.

HHH's quad is torn, HBK's knee needs to be scoped..........so DX will be around for another what 8 to 10 months?

Orton should go nowhere near the title right now, a headlining match with Cena would only draw flies.

I got a chance to see the show last night, and it was an odd match. HHH looked serious at first, but then he was able to do the other spots fine, and walked up the ramp fine by himself. I'm not gonna say that this is a work, but HHH has been doing this a long time and he can perfect how he looks whether it is a real or fake injury. But if it is true, it sucks. I've been liking this DX run, and if it's only Shawn, I don't expect it to continue too much longer.

Thats what I'm saying, exclude the Walls of Jericho on the table. If it were truly as serious as before, then he never would have made it to the Table. He did a perfect pedigree on the table and on one of the pics at WWE.com, he was hugging Shawn, with just a look on his face. Just a normal look, not a "I just tore my quad" look

I'm in the camp that says it was a worked injury. It just seems too convenient that he injured his same quad as last time he was injured AND that he "injured" himself 5 years to the day after he returned from the last quad injury (Monday, January 7th, 2002 edition of RAW)...just my opinion, and I'll leave it at that as my speculation on this bizarre incident.

I'm convinced that he is injured just because of the angle his leg was at when he hit the Spinebuster.

Depending on whether they're going to have Edge or Randy Orton challenge, I can see either guy winning it at the Royal Rumble. The WWE is on Cena's dick, so I can see him losing the WWE Title to Edge or Orton, than entering the Royal Rumble at #27, or something, and winning the match, sealing the deal for WrestleMania.

It's a shame, really. I don't want to see Cena or Batista in the main events this year.

Shawn will just fill in for Triple H's plans. And whatever they were gonna have him do originally will be scrapped or reworked to be with the next available face.
Orton and Edge are heels, so I doubt they're gonna benefit from HHH going down. Most likely they'll do the same thing, but there is a chance they could get a bigger push as a result.
