Coming out in October with episodic content in 2008. March 29th will be the first trailer. Figured I'd start this now.

Episodic content? What's that, like add-ons?

Man, I can't wait for this game, whether I have the console for it or not. :D

What new features and that will it have? How will it be different from other ones?

I dunno, gta became boring for me after I played vice city to death. Like, I got partway into San Andreas, and I just didn't care.

I think a big part of that is the fact that there are a lot of games that take the open enviornment formula of gta, and put it in a fantastic setting. Games like spider-man 2, Mercenaries, and Crackdown make the activity in GTA just seem tame and uninteresting.

With Cracdown out, and more importantly, Mercanaries 2 on the way, I could give a fuck about the next gta

Episodic content will be like more "chapters" to the story. So, yeah, like add-ons.

But other than the release date and the trailer date, everything about this game has been pretty quiet. The trailer will be the first look at the era, new features, and if we go back to being white. Or, possibly a customizable character this time. For some reason I think this is a big possibility.

They need to do one from the 60's.

The first expansion pack for GTA 1 was set in the '60's.

Yeah, or Rockstar could not waste their time since The Godfather has been out for months.

Mafia was out far longer than The Godfather and it was much better.

If its not new storylines then I probably wont be buying the extra crap...

Cant wait for the game though...since I own a 360...This and Guitar Hero 2 are the only two games im really waiting for..

The episodic content isn't just a new weapon or new car, it's hours of additional gameplay.

I would care if I actually played that game.

Nothing is known about GTAIV except that the trailer will be released 29th of March, and that it will use the RAGE Engine (Rockstars Advanced Graphics Engine) its what they used for Rockstars table tennis.

It won't be a teaser trailer because this is usually the time when they started releasing information for the other games.

Yeah I know, but beware that this time is very close to April fools day (1st) Its weird how we usually get screenshots in march, and a trailer in may.

Could have add ons like crackdown, new agents on crackdown but you could download or design your own t-shirt that would be bang tight :D

I don't have any doubts that this will be the first truly huge game of the next-gen (even bigger than Halo 3). I'm hoping it will be on a brand new engine, because while GTA 3-SA were awesome, the ground controls were always a little stiff.

Yo quick question. Why does everyoen credit open enviornment/free roam to GTA? Why would you not credit it to say... ZEDLA? Bugs me.

Damn it, i was doing so good not wanting any of the new systems too...now...i have to get one as the only time i actually buy damn systems is for the new GTA games.

Yeah, and the 3D style of gameplay you see now was actually done in Driver (The first one, although I know you couldnt exit the car until the second) whilst GTA was still top down. But as far as most people are concerned, GTA pulled it off better.

I suppose the same would account for the freeroaming sandbox gameplay.

There is a tech demo of the Euphoria engine, shown by throwing some Stormtroopers around. Looks lush as you can see.

They need to do either: Late '90s one (or was that GTA III) or just another location like Chicago, Hawaii, or Texas.

New features should be like you should be able to interact more with the city. You can go to sporting events, concerts, nightclubs (and actually drink and pick up a girl or something), go to the mall with girl/allies. You can fly to different cities (back to miami, NY, LA, Las Vegas, etc. since there will be more disk space). I'll think of more later...

There MUST be online play

It will probably have a lot of the same online types as the PSP games have had. Probably more.

I'm pretty sure there will be net play of some sort, I looked on the Rockstar North website earlier in the year (2006) and they were looking for net programmers to apply.

I hope the multiplayer is more like it was for James Bond for N64. 4 screens split and stuff. Different places like say a part of town where you can roam around. Like online you just roam around and you can either go into a part of land (ex. Los Santos, Sanfierro) and its free for all there...snipers and shit. That would be bombay!!

Yeah, thats partly due to people being idiots, and people that think of sandbox crim-sim as something totally different from a game with RPG like qualities. It just depends whats said really.

The GTA series is -very much- an RPG. With its mission structure, free roaming, 'faction'. Not sure how people can overlook that little fact. On the outside, it's not very RPG-like, but when you actually get into the features of the game, that's exactly what it is.

Hilariously fake, I'm pretty sure that footage is from Saints Row. Also note the GT-R on the Skyline, Rockstar dont use licenced cars in GTA. Not many people would want them anyway.

I only played San Andreas and found it pretty boring tbh. Were the first few actually better?

GTA3 and VC were brilliant games, I loved SA as well but it didn't have the same effect as 3 or Vice City. SA just didn't pull you into the world as much I found. GTA3 was a huge step up after playing GTA1 or 2, VC took what GTA3 had refined it and was one of the best games I've ever played, it really pulled you into the 80s atmosphere.

If you liked the watered down LCS, then I would imagine it'll be a safe bet.

Thats APB for the 360, all points bulletin... its an online only game you choose to be cops or robbers when you start and if your a cop you must stop crime, a robber you do crime...

actually never played LCS. last game i played was SA. if its a watered down version of VC, i will pass.

From what I played in LCS, it's basically GTA 3 with motorcycles, a bit of a tweaked control system and much worse graphics. It's a direct port from the PSP, so it's pretty bad in my opinion.

Finally got it to load. All I can say is wow.

Hopefully they're rendering it the same way the in-game graphics are, but even not, it looks like it'll be a truly full-sized New York city.

Looks like something bad happened to Liberty City and it's having to be rebuilt. I wasn't expecting this for another hour but now that I've watched it...it looks amazing.
