HOLY CRAP!!!---Rock Band
Credit: g4tv.com .......
Holy craps! This weekend, Harmonix, MTV and EA announced the development of Rock Band, a music game ala Guitar Hero that allows up to four players to jam out on four different instrument controllers. The controllers: two guitars (lead and bass), a drum kit and a microphone. The Jamming: in-the-room or online! But that's not, as they say, all. Rock Band will feature original artists playing their original hits as opposed to the fake versions from previous guitar and karaoke games. "Rock Band takes the core premise of Guitar Hero and expands it tenfold," says Alex Rigopulos, co-founder of Harmonix, which developed the game and the Karaoke Revolution games. "It lets you create a complete collaborative band." "Our vision for Rock Band is to completely change the way people interact with and enjoy the music they love,” said Jeff Yapp, EVP, MTV Program Enterprises. By joining forces with EA and the music industry's largest record labels and publishers, we are striving to create a groundbreaking new platform that allows people to connect with their favorite music and artists in ways they never have before.” The game will be available before Christmas (most likely) and is for the 360 and PlayStation 3. No tracklists have been released and no screenshots produced, but you can bet we'll give 'em up when we get 'em! TheFeed needs a shower now. ----------------------------------------------- All I can say is Holy Crap...I hope this is released this year. |
Just beat me to posting this. Gonna be awesome.
|
So the game comes with all the instruments, The mic, 2 guitars and a drum set...
How much do you think It'll be worth |
Ssssssssssssssssssexy
|
Wow this sounds sweet! I used to play the drums while my friends jammed out on Guitar Hero, but now that won't be necessary. I hope this isn't too expensive. :o
|
I was actually trying to predict how much it would cost...
Would be great if the Guitar Hero controllers could be used as the guitar ones for this game...then I would only need to pick up the mic and drum... But if its all the instruments together then im predicting over 200 |
Yeah, I'd be willing to pay 200 for this game though. It would be a blast.
|
Since it'll be on the 360 and the PS3, they should be able to put new tracks up for d/l. That would be sweet.
|
Would this be Guitar Hero 3? Can I use the Guitar Controllers already out? Is there a difference between Guitar and Bass Controllers? Will there be an online Battle of the Bands mode?
I want answers. |

No. The Red Octane controller will not work for this game. Money grubbing bastards.
Still getting the damn thing. |

I have two of them on hold at work for me to pick up early tomorrow morning |
No current controllers on the new game.

When the first one came out I wondered if something like this would ever happen. Apparently it will. Harmonix stole my idea.

Yes, we're very excited by the prospect of Rock Band, the music game that allows up to four players to rock out on fake instruments, but only because TheFeed are oil barons who routinely light our cigarillos with $100 bills; This game will not be cheap. According to gaming blog Kotaku, GameStop is taking preorders for the peripherals for the game, and if the listings are correct, putting together a full band with wireless equipment costs more than $300. Broken down: The microphone sells for $39.99 Standard guitar for $59.99 Wireless guitar $79.99 drums going for $79.99 Rock Band game for $59.99 These prices aren't set, but rest assured, it will won't be cheap. TheFeed's Frank Meyer recommends spending that money on an actual guitar, and actually rocking out. He points out that you can get a perfectly serviceable Epiphone Les Paul knock-off for about that price --------------------------------------------------------------- Well there it is....prices for the paripherals |
I'd be willing to buy a set of that for those prices, it will be fun.

This will be utterly badass if you can play online efficiently, especially if you can have a "battle of the bands" type set up with a set band.
Hopefully lag doesn't kill this. |
I'm assuming (hoping) that you'll be able to go through single player mode with one instrument at a time. Cuz there's no way I'm buying all those peripherals at once.
|
Can someone explain to me how they are going to analyze your performance on the microphone during the game
|
I don't know, they already have Karaoke Revolution, so I'd imagine it'd be similar to that. I forget how that works though, I've only played it once.
|
They have karoake revolution and games like that, so I'm assuming it will be along the same line as those.
|
I demand cowbell as a peripheral.
|
Ridiculous FakeRazor/el fregadero paradox within this thread
|
Tons of info, including 4 announced songs (THE WHO  )

THat my friend, is some hot shit.
When does this come out as opposed to GH3... BEcause I know the GH3 guitars will work for this, but the official guitars can do more... I wonder if the official ones will work for GH3 though, becauseI don't want to have to buy a shitload of fucking fake guitars. |
SON OF A BITCH
Five extra fret buttons will add alot to the experience. Jam session after songs for doing well as a team :D . Drum set sounds badass! I seen the CAW mode a mile away. I wonder if the Mic's star power has the crowd singing along with you... Otherwise this game is sounding like an awesome experience. |

SWEET |
I am so pumped for this. Gotta find some people who are down for the cause though.
|
They sold me at The Who.
|
Hard and Expert on drums is like playing the real drums.
Nice addition there. I do have to say...I'm STOKED for this. |

Anyone else concerned about 4 different note charts on one screen?
|
I didn't even think of how they will tell you what notes to play. Gonna be kinda confusing.
|
Gonna need a bigger tv.
|
Guitar and Bass on the right and left sides, drums in the bottom middle, mic scrolls sideways on the top.
|
I HAVE to get this game.
It's like, demanded of me. |
Scans of the Game Informer article all the info was taken from (taken from the Scorehero forums)

Very nice. Drum set looks wicked. I'm gonna be badass and pull double duty with one instrument and a mic.
|
looks like guitar/bass and drums for me :naughty:
I mean, I could prolly do vocals but I'm really not that great...then again they're prolly be a ton of American Idol rejects on the servers who make me look decent, so... |

That layout looks like it will work pretty well actually. I was kind of worried about all the scrolling bars on the screen, but it looks nice. I'm getting excited.
|
I never even thought of doing vocals and guitar at the same time.
But I'm totally going to now. |
Probably gonna have somebody in my "band" do that. Maybe whoever ends up on bass.

Gotta get a TPWW band together.
|
After seeing the pictures, I am pumped about this. CAN'T WAIT!
|
Req - you, DS, and I need to form a band. Fourth member optional, due to one of us taking on the role of singer/instrument.
|
 Can't wait to play some freaking drums. I will def. go in on this with you. Not sure if DS will go for it cause he isn't big on GH anymore, but if he doesn't we will find someone for sure.
|
Goldar and The Rangers
Josh is in, as am I. |
I hope a Battle of the Bands mode will play out like it is in my head. Can you imagine each band taking turns on verses from randomly picked songs? There can be no losers.
|
And when you guys say online bands, you mean XBLive, right? That's more reasons to get back online.
Halo 3 Rock Band Rock music and guns, how American is that. |

http://www.gamestop.com/gs/061907/co...0&mc_id=0619nl Not new pictures per se, but Gamestop has better quality pics than I've previously seen. |
Definitely gonna try starting a "band" with my friends. We'll each buy an instrument, and in between playing sessions we'll swap off instruments with one another so we can do all the different career modes and such.
|
Damn that guitar looks sweet.
|
I like how the 'high' frets are smaller to make hammer-ons and pull-offs easier.
I wonder if old Guitar Hero songs will return atleast for download. |
so, should i just wait for this instead of trying out gh2?
|
Definitely.
|
Kane Knight..
BE MY VOCALIST btw, I'm Jalpeno/Miguelwhatever. I can't type that n with the accent on this laptop. |

Drum kit looks sweet. |

Can't wait for this game, I'd definitely love to join a TPWW band. |
God, i have to get the guitar, and the drums....not going to worry much about the microphone.....hope this doesn't cost too much.

So today at E3 they announced that not only will you get to play singles by artists, but they are going to be doing digital downloads of full albums by certain artists. The first one they announced is The Who's "Who's Next".
The first 15 songs from Rock Band are listed below, with the new songs in bold: Artist - Song (asterisk indicates a cover version of a song): The Who - "Won't Get Fooled Again" Mountain - "Mississippi Queen"* David Bowie - "Suffragette City" Black Sabbath - "Paranoid"* Blue Oyster Cult - "Don't Fear the Reaper" The Ramones - "Rockaway Beach" Rush - "Tom Sawyer"* Bon Jovi - "Wanted Dead or Alive" Nirvana - "In Bloom" Stone Temple Pilots - "Vaseline" Weezer - "Say It Ain't So" Foo Fighters - "Learn to Fly" The Hives - "Main Offender" The Strokes - "Reptilia" Queens of the Stone Age - "Go With the Flow" Apparently Metallica's Enter Sandman will also be in the game along with other Metallica songs. |
STROKES, RAMONES, FOO FIGHTERS, STP
: orgasm: |
Oh and
OMFG @ being able to download and play Baba O' Riley |
Yea its been confirmed that you will be able to download complete CD's to play in this game starting off with one of the CDs from The Who...
Also "Enter Sandman" by Metallica is shipping on the disc with you also able to download the other songs off the CD to play in the game... OH MY GOD!!!!! Thats all I have been waiting for....I thought my pants were getting tight of hearing Guitar Hero 3 would have "Rock You Like a Hurricane"....Being able to play Metallica is gonna make me go crazy. |
If they end up putting even ONE Pearl Jam song on here, I will drive my happy ass to GameStop a pre-order a copy.
And I don't do preorders. |
So a game for guitar bass, drum, and vocals will first release a full album that is piano heavy?
Anyone else (But Wadding, who I just said this to) find that a little Screwy? |
Fuck. Not looking forward to having to drop probably $800 on this and a new console.
|
GODDDDDD I can't wait for this
|
Wow, this just blew Guitar Hero 3 away.
|
Bon Jovi?
|
Did I just read that Metallica will be in this game? Don't tease me...
|
Quote:
|
So this will prob be around $500 right?
|
On G4's E3 coverage, they asked one of the guys from Harmonix about what the price would be. Guy says "We haven't announced a price yet, but remember you don't need all the peripherals to play".
Which is basically saying, you'll be paying an arm and a leg for all of them. |
I'm saying $200 for the whole bundle.
|
I've read they'll have some cheap accesorries sold with it, but you're really going to want to go for peripherals that are sold seperate. Bargain basement vs quality.

I really can't wait for this game now, I was just going to get it for the guitar but I think I'll have to get the drums too now that I know Rush - Tom Sawyer is going to be on it. |
