Why Kurt is a Joke.

Angle will work the PPV tonight despite a back injury. During his match with Christian Cage at the TNA house show on Friday, Angle was slammed into a guard rail by Cage and a piece of metal jabbed into his back and cut him open. He finished the match and will work tonight.

^----This is why Angle is a self-destructive, mindless, raving lunatic.

...And ignorant, dangerous, creepy and unrespectible. "Unrespectable"? Or "ible"? Whatever. Whichever it is, he's not it.

Destor 04-16-2007 04:19 PM

:n: To you.

Let's face facts, all pro wrestlers ARE jokes to anyone outside our dwindling circle.

Destor 04-16-2007 04:23 PM

Then why point it out? Isn't it moot?

Destor 04-16-2007 04:24 PM

Hold on, gonna go post the Scotty 2 Hotty is a joke thread. "BRB."

DS 04-16-2007 04:26 PM

Was going to go to that house show but kept putting off buying tickets. Plus I didn't want to go alone. That's pretty sad.

I would change the title of this thread to "Why Kurt is a sad, misguided, self-detructive fool." Yeah, lot's of guys work injured, but few of them have as many injuries-on-top-of-injuries as Angle has. The truly sad thing is that when he cripples or kills himself in the ring, the pity for him will be very scant.

Destor 04-16-2007 04:29 PM

Dont get me wrong, Kurt's a joke. But this is hardly anything more than someone fishing for heat.

The One 04-16-2007 04:41 PM

I think I'm still in the death pool for Angle. Can't rememebr what date I picked, but here's hoping. :p

BigDaddyCool 04-16-2007 04:44 PM

I'm going to have to agree with the rest of the Kliq here.

Though, 10, 15 years ago, Angle would have been jobbed out to Nash in 3 seconds for the world title.

Angle is a joke because he expects us to believe all the stuff he spews about TNA being so much greater than WWE and how he can kick anyones ass in MMA.

Dude, at least allow the man the respect of 30. He's not Backlund, after all.

Don't tell me you think Kurt is the only wrestler to ever work with a severe injury.

I'm not saying I agree with it, but singling him out for something many wrestlers do is idiotic.

Kane Knight 04-16-2007 05:12 PM

Destor didn't make that thread on Scotty 2 Hotty. I'm disappointed.

Anyway, do other wrestlers work injured? Yeah. Does Kurt take things to a pretty harsh extreme?

...Yeah.

Pepsi Man 04-16-2007 05:14 PM

I respect people who have a drive to go to work.

Jeritron 04-16-2007 05:43 PM

Well Kurt is out of control but this is hardly a huge cause for concern. So he got a wound on his back and decided to go ahead with a 10 man match which he was headlining for an important PPV to his company...big deal.

I'd be more concerned about the fact that he's working with pre-existing injuries on top of other injuries and proness to further injuries that are far more hazardous than this.

KayfabeMan 04-16-2007 05:45 PM

I don't understand why Kurt gets so much heat around here.

What began all of that?

I don't like the whole steroid thing either, and he like the many others, lose respect points for that from me, but he's still a good performer, IMO, and I remember not that long ago everyone had been pressed against his balls for the longest time; then one day, I came back and everyone hated him.

Jordan 04-16-2007 05:51 PM

Who cares he is just trying to entertain you so what if he throws caution to the wind, its not your body, dont worry about it.

Xero 04-16-2007 05:51 PM

He's got Ultimate Warrior heat.

People were all over him up until he started going off in the "ultimate warrior" direction.

lort 04-16-2007 06:22 PM

I used to love Kurt until I learnt what he was like outside of his character and he seems like a complete jackass.

The One 04-16-2007 06:57 PM

Angle gets heat for the fallowing reason...

1) This thought; "I won the Olympic medel in 1996, now in 2007, despite working a staged fighting style for a decade, I'm pretty sure I could still hang with some of the biggest names in MMA today...sure..." People who have that thought, and to date I only know of Angle, deserve a little "Oh go fuck off" thrown in their face.

2) When you begin making INSAIN statements, such as Dixie Carter being a better business leader than Vince McMahon is. Yes, that's why Vince McMahon is running three brands of wrestling, airing nearly twice as many PPVs, and still, on his worst day is doing better than Carter's best day. Something's gone missing up top.

3) Abusing your own body and drugs to the point that your wife takes your kids and leaves...never a good sign.

4) Continuing to abuse your body and drugs and not reflecting on your own life and saying to yourself maybe being there for my family is more important, kind of being an asshole.

Is Kurt Angle one of the best in ring performers of all time? Unquestionably. Is he TNA's biggest star? Hands down, and with good cause too. Is he fucking up his life and making a complete ass of himself in the process? Damn straight.

Kane Knight 04-16-2007 07:43 PM

It's amazing how fast people will jump off someone's dick when they make insane statements and try to kill themselves. Smarks are so fickle.

1) Meh. Just a guy talking big about something he honestly doesn't know a lot about. Nothing to hate him about.

2) Sure, these statements are false, but Kurt works for TNA. He's just trying to put them over. What would you have him do? Say "Yeah, TNA blows. I'd rather be in the WWE, but since they let me go, I'm here."

Picturing this is making me laugh quite a bit. :D

KayfabeMan 04-16-2007 08:17 PM

Thanks guys :y:

I was just confused with what the hell was going on, as I was away from TPWW for a while last year and all that, and before I left everyone was a Kurt mark and when I came back, everyone was anti-Angle. So I was a lil' confused. Thanks again :y:

First of all, that's hilarious.

As for self-defense, my point is that no, regular, healthy, sane people do not work injured. You work when you're hurt, sure. But you lay off on an injury.

Kurt has lost his damn mind. You jar your back or get a stiff muscle from a slam, yeah, you might do a match the next day. But jabbed with "a piece of metal"? No, you wait that one out.

The man's name is kinda like a 747 with 4 engines, only 3 are on fire and the ride's goin' down. Yet, instead of calling for help, he says "Fuck the tower," and throws a goose at engine #4.

Lesnar left the company, and did his own shit.

Christian left the company and did his own shit.

Hell, Brutus "The Barber" God Damn Beefcake left the company and did his own shit.

Their success rates vary, as do their chosen courses, but none of them are nearly the flameout that Angle has become, and I can say with confident tone that his laughable situation is his own doing. Fuck the steroids, 'cause I don't give a rat's ass about that garbage. The man is trying to die, and if he's not, then may Darwin have mercy.

Pepsi Man's comments were not Bob Backlund authorized. :nono:

The One 04-16-2007 09:26 PM

I don't blame Angle though, he's trying to either die or cripple himself quick enough so that he will be remembered primarly for his time in WWE and not for his burn out life in TNA.

Xero 04-16-2007 09:32 PM

He'll be remembered as the wrestler who had a great WWE run, took steroids and went crazy.

Pretty much what Ultimate Warrior will be remembered for.

The One 04-16-2007 11:23 PM

Now i only we could combine Warrior's Promos with Angle's matches. :D

Afterlife 04-16-2007 11:35 PM

By the way, I find it interesting that the only person compelled to neg rep me for making an offhand comment about Kurt's progressive downward spiral didn't even bother to post in the thread.

Feel free to express your opinion, but don't attack me for expressing mine.

Yeah, but Warrior will still be alive in 5 years.

Warrior's funny. kurt's tragic, because there's a very real chance he'll be the next Eddie Guerrero....Or possibly Owen Hart.

I wasn't griping about the red dot. I was merely suggesting that if you've got somethin' to say, then say it. It's rather irritating get a mark of disapproval over something so trivial, especially without a reason.

There are two problems in that suggestion:

1. Owen's death was an accident.

2. Eddie had cleaned up his act and was taking care of himself; time just caught up at an inopportune moment.

Angle is basically asking to die, and that's where the tragedy lies. You're right, there chance of his expiration is incredibly real. The thing is, his won't be a fluke.

The idea was more that they were both active wrestlers.

You're overthinking.

Though on Owen, Kurt's death will doubtless be an accident. That's a stretch, but it wasn't my intended analogue, either. Just saying, you know, if you really want to overthink it.

We don't have to stop there. One was Latino and the other was Canadian.

Afterlife 04-17-2007 08:25 PM

No, I knew what you meant. What I'm saying, is that nobody foresaw the sudden end of Owen or Eddie. If you can't see Kurt's impending doom, you're either in denial, severely handicapped, or already dead, yourself.

And for the record, with the reckless way he treats himself, I won't consider his death an accident; he's doing this intentionally.

Kane Knight 04-17-2007 08:36 PM

Awww...Come on...I wanted to bust out "neither of them were bald, either!"

DISCUSSING DONT MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND!

Afterlife 04-22-2007 11:24 AM

Warrior, tho, is like "There are bats in my closet -- don't open the closet, the bats'll get out! They'll fucking get out!"kinda crazy.

Kurt is "I wanna die" kinda crazy, and that's not nearly as funny.

Kane Knight 04-22-2007 11:26 AM

Kurt's both, really. It's just the latter kind of detracts from the former.

Seriously, if I didn't think he was trying to kill himself, I'd be comparing him to Warrior pretty often.

Afterlife 04-22-2007 02:36 PM

You're absolutely right. Kurt's a silly mess, and you wanna giggle; but then you're like "aw...that's no good."

It's like being elbow deep in Taylor Hanson. First, you're like "Hey, cool; I'm hangin' out with Taylor Hanson." But then you're like, "Fuck, man...I'm elbow deep." And then it's not so fun.

That was kinda my reaction to the guy who shot up VA Tech when they started airing his videos.

I laughed for a split second at how apeshit crazy this fucker was.

Then I remembered that he killed over 30 people, and caught myself.

Afterlife 04-24-2007 11:08 AM

He came to a mutual agreement with WWE that his body is wrecked and that wrestling was going to do him serious harm. He was given his release and then went on to say that he wanted to really take some time off to recover and try to repair his family problems.

The next week he had signed with TNA, and went on to claim that Dixie Carter is a better busines mind than Vince McMahon, that TNA is going to surpass WWE in a matter of months, and that he can whip anybody's ass in MMA. He's also said a bunch of other stupid shit, but I can't recall it all right now. He's going to work himself to death in the ring, and he doesn't seem to care.

And damn that's a bright font.

Being away from "wrestling in general" for "a long time" would suggest that you don't know what we're talking about. The fact that you have to ask about the Angle situation while simultaneously gushing forth pompocity on the matter as if to indicate that you do know what we're talking about would indicate that you don't know what you're talking about.

I'd imagine a decent portion of the population is also trying to insulate themselves from the perspective future. It makes it easier for people to cope with it. Not necessarily to make it okay, but just to make the reality less harsh.

I mean, pro wrestlers are looked up to by a lot of wrestling fans. They're not just entertainers, they're icons.
