Linkin Park's Newest

New song, "What I've Done" plays on splash page.

Very different sound. Chester says there's no Nu-Metal in the album, and Mike Shinoda raps less and sings more.

I like the first single but... :wtf:

"Minutes to Midnight" drops May 15th.

Kane Knight 04-23-2007 06:31 PM

Oh, look. superificial changes to formulaic music.

Blitz 04-23-2007 06:34 PM

Looking forward to it very much. Love "What I've Done".

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-23-2007 08:41 PM

You would think they would have had the good grace to disappear already.

Requiem 04-23-2007 08:59 PM

Also looking forward to it very much. They're by no means my favorite, but I am a pretty big fan. Liked the new song the first time I heard it.

RGWhat316 04-24-2007 12:33 AM

I'm still looking forward to it. Like the new song, however if the new stuff is like the other new song "Qwerty", then I'll definitely like the new cd. It may not be nu-metal, but "Qwerty" is a nice and heavy song.

St. Jimmy 04-24-2007 01:53 AM

Lookin' badddd. Not that I ever though Rap-Metal or what have you was ever good.

Their first record, at least was good as a novelty.

As novelty - I shall agree.

I've always liked LP; not really my genre of preference, but it's a great change of pace when I'm in the mood for something different. I'll prolly czech it out.

If "they" referes to Limp Bizkit, then yeah.

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-26-2007 08:00 PM

Them too, and any other piss-wank mediocrity that should of disappeared five years ago.

thedamndest 04-26-2007 09:53 PM

This song is boring the hell out of me. The last good thing I heard from them was a Raven Riley porn that had the Linkin Park/Jay-Z concert in the background.

G 04-27-2007 08:32 PM

QWERTY is greatness

Kane Knight 04-27-2007 10:47 PM

Isn't QWERT one of the tags generally used to mark gay/pedophile porn on the net?

MAkes sense.

I cannot say anything bad, as LP got me out of the liking of my parents type of music, old rock (which is still good don't get me wrong), and country. It was the first rock band I listened to, and then it went to Metallica and grew from there. So yeah, LP always good IMO.

Vastardikai 04-30-2007 06:07 AM

I can't tell any difference. Except I saw the video and was amazed how a guy wearing Black Leather and Aviators while sporting a mohawk could look completely non-threatening.

Fuck that, give me some Corrosion of Conformity.

oh, and on a pathetic level: qwerty is like the first six letters on the top row of a computer keyboard.

Dave Youell 05-01-2007 05:40 AM

I know LP got loads of criticism because of the way they formed in the first place, but I loved the other 2 albums (I do not consider the re mixes albums) so I will buy this one, good to see they are trying to change with the times.

Shame Fred Durst couldn't do the same

M-A-G 05-01-2007 05:44 AM

Still think Meteora is their best one. Gonna have to check the rest of the tracks on this new album as their single hasn't really sold me.

Funky Fly 05-01-2007 07:54 PM

So I saw that video, and they've just become even more generic.

It wasn't bad, just really bland.

It's been leaked.

Just finished listening to it. Far and away their best album, to my ears at least. if you're looking for another Hybrid Theory, or even another Meteora, look elsewhere, cuz this ain't it.

I love it. First time I listened to Meteroa I wasn't sure if I like the newer sound but I ended up growing into it. This one I loved every song from the first listen, just like Hybrid Theory.

Right up there with Hybrid Theory.

Alright.

G 05-04-2007 05:16 PM

yeah i love it too. every song is great, and none had me skip forward to the next track like 99.9% of other albums do.

very good :y:

Silent 05-04-2007 07:59 PM

About 3/4 through listening to it as I write this, I am impressed. Nothing ground-breaking but it's a nice album, I like it better then their others.

G 05-05-2007 10:07 AM

btw, everyone should d/l LP Underground 6.0. For those that don't know, this is a cd for the paying members of the LP Underground. In other words, it's REAL. QWERTY live is fucking awesome. 6 tracks on it.

Requiem 05-05-2007 06:32 PM

I like this CD a lot. Wasn't a big fan of "Given Up" at first, and it's still not one of my favorites but it isn't bad. The rest of the CD is the goods.

They added the word fuck into a song, breaking their tendency to clean music.

They otherwise did what they usually do. Make the same record. The songs are all very similar, structurally, musically.

DS 05-05-2007 09:09 PM

Alright, Kane Knight, we get it. You don't like Linkin Park. For someone arguing sameness, you sure are saying the same thing with slightly different words.

Requiem 05-06-2007 12:52 AM

^LOL

Hit the nail on the head. All I read anymore from KK is whining about all these mainstream bands that he can't stand. Granted, he makes some decent points about -some-, but does he ever have anything positive to say?

Blitz 05-06-2007 01:44 AM

Req and DS, don't bother. You will never win this argument and it will only piss you off more.

Requiem 05-06-2007 02:30 AM

Oh believe me, I know. I'm sure he gets a hard-on the moment someone says something he can disagree with, just because in his mind he can't ever be proved wrong.

DS 05-06-2007 03:09 AM

How can you ever be proven wrong when you're always right about everything?

G 05-06-2007 10:35 AM

the clapping :(

Penner 05-06-2007 11:39 PM

doesnt sound too bad, at least its not the same old shit

JeRz 05-07-2007 09:14 AM

mixed feelings on this one. Of course, all I heard in the form of clips before it leaked, was Given Up and other harder songs so I was expecting it to be another HT-type album just a slightly bit harder. I like some of the softer tracks but I'm a bit dissapointed after hearing songs like Qwerty and assuming it would be hard. Never assume :(. But, definitely a decent album. It just better not be another 4 years until a new one surfaces.

Do you need someone to change your diapers?

For someone who spends a lot of time whining about me...

Requiem 05-07-2007 03:35 PM

Because we know that comments about you in a couple threads, contitutes whining about you. Compared to the whining the rest of the board does about you, that isn't even scratching the surface.

Kane Knight 05-07-2007 03:47 PM

You whine in a couple of threads the way I never say anything positive. That is, only in your made up little argument.

But whining that I won't change when you keep repeating the same actions? That's fucking funny.

Kane Knight 05-07-2007 03:51 PM

And by the way, to the little douches who are spreading the phrase "hate" around...Jesus. I must really have hated them to have actually downloaded the record, gave it a shot, and not said it sucked, but simply said it wasn't different.

Are you so sensitive about your taste in music that everything needs to be "original" or "different?" Or so deluded?

I mean, wow. If you complain when I actually criticise the musical structure, how badly would you all piss yourselves if I actually said bad things about the record?

yea, pretty much. I love this album. It is like a totally...well not totally, but a different direction and i like that in a group/artist. You won't get the same shit over and over. Haven't stopped playing it.

Requiem 05-07-2007 04:41 PM

You're the one making excuses for your actions. :y:

It's not that you critisize the music, it's that you bring it up around every corner, and then generalize about the person's taste in music. Don't even fucking deny it. You do exactly that. You go to another thread and see that someone who liked "X" band has an opinion on "Y" band, and make some smartassed comment about it, or some other BS.

And shut up with this stupid "I must really dislike a band to own their CDs or to have downloaded X CD" I own plenty of albums for bands that I no longer like. I've downloaded plenty of music to 'give it a chance', but before I downloaded it that didn't mean I didn't dislike them. I still most likely didn't like them before downloading it, but I gave it a chance and my mind wasn't changed so I deleted it.

Like downloading something was putting forth a lot of effort, as if you drove to the store and went out of your way to get it. You clicked a few buttons and let your downloader do all the work. Yeah, that's quite some effort you put into it there.

This is the quote that brought on my original comment in this thread anyways.

Try to claim otherwise.

Also, your claim that I keep saying the same thing all over the place too. Two threads, both comments used in the same context (because you hadn't responded to this one yet so I brought it up in the other thread).. Hardly near the extent that you do it.

You're not a bad poster when you're just posting, but you get in this mindset when you start arguing over something that everyone else is 100% dead wrong, and you can never be wrong about anything. That's not the signs of being a good debator. That's the signs of being an ignorant fuck who can't accept anything but what's already in your mind. Maybe you should go over and try to rule Iraq. You could be the next Muslim leader if you keep that up.

Kane Knight is a habitual non-conformist. Thats what his TPWW tenure boils down too. This was known like 3 years ago. I'm shocked everyone is just realizing this.

Kane Knight 05-08-2007 11:08 AM

Haven't read the responses yet. Has Requiem given his usual "It's your fault that I'm too stupid to stop making assumptions based on what's convenient!" argument yet?

Fuck's sake, Req, even animals are able to learn from their own mistake. I'd peg you at as least as smart as a dog, so how many times do you have to have your nose rubbed in shit for saying the same stupid things before you actually learn?

Or do you just have a hard-on for lying?

Requiem 05-09-2007 08:58 PM

Typical Kane Knight response. The moment he realizes he is wrong, he stops debating and turns to just attacking a poster.

Had a listen through and liked it, will definately be listening to this quite abit I think.

RP 05-10-2007 05:59 PM

I just listened to this and i agree with Kane Knight, its a peice of shit.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-10-2007 07:00 PM

Forget about Linkin Park, get the new Bjork album instead. Far better than anything those nancy boys can produce. :y:

Shaggy 05-15-2007 03:44 PM

I havnt heard anything about it and didnt even read this thread to see what yall think...

I picked it up today....listened to it...and was afriad to come on the boards and actually say that I didnt care for it. I was very let down from this CD but as I can see from some other peoples posts, they didnt like it either...

It just doesnt sound like Linkin Park anymore....there are only like two songs on it that sound like their old ways. Yes I know they are trying to go for a different sound now but it just doesnt sound right to me. They sound like they have gone perhaps too soft....

G 05-15-2007 03:46 PM

you should have downloaded it instead of dropping $15 for it. :y:

Shaggy 05-15-2007 03:50 PM

yep...actually it was 9.99...and I purchased Megadeth with it and used a 10.00 rewards coupon for being a member of the rewards group..

So technically I didnt pay for it...but then again I did and wasted a 10.00 coupon...

RGWhat316 05-16-2007 12:49 AM

Yeah, I decided to get it and the new Exies cd today, and I liked The Exies much better. There is only a couple songs I actually like on the new cd, and this really isn't what I expected from LP. Think its back to go back to the tried and true, cus this wasn't it. Sorry guys.

Vastardikai 05-18-2007 04:12 PM

Oh, so they have gone from lame, generic, and tired to even MORE Lame, Generic, and tired?

They should have crossed over to the Emo thing sooner. Papa Roach beat them to it. :p They'd still suck, but they'd corner the teeny-bopper audience that gotten sick of Nu-Metal bullshit.

Nu-Metal only lasted as long as it did because At The Drive-In broke up before they could follow up Relationship of Command, at the peak of their Critical fame.

Fignuts 05-19-2007 07:06 PM

Very different approach on some of the songs. A lot softer than usual. They don't even sound like the same bands. And the songs that do sound like LP are kind of generic. To me, anyways. Still enjoyable tho. I actually like the rap songs the best.

And doing it with pride for however the hell long I've been doing it... well, in between the long lapses of me falling off the face of the earth... and allegedly doing my "Powered Toast Man" bit (which I still deny to this day.)

I dislike them, for the most part. I did like one song they did, ever "Lying From You."

Then again, I can also take jabs at my own musical tastes, as I like some of Jack Johnson's work.

It was merely mockery.

I'd like to know how much money Shinoda has made. I've heard that Fort Minor song so much during the NBA playoffs I can't get it out of my head. Dude has to be breaking the habit...er...I mean...bank.

Kane Knight 05-23-2007 09:11 PM

What's sad is that he's actually had to tone himself down for Linkin Park. Have you heard the original version of In The End? Much better.

Guy's got some great rap skills, and he's being wasted.

Kalyx triaD 05-24-2007 03:27 PM

I love "Bleed it Out".

I agree with that. The demos are his best work and when I listen to those over the stuff that got released all out, I cringe. The guy has talent, no doubt.

Kane Knight 05-25-2007 12:32 AM

Keep in mind, of course, that I hate Linkin Park. ;)

Hate it so much I own their first two records, the first remix and live albums, a DVD, and have some of their demos. I hate them SOOOOOO MUCH because critical thinking is bad and if you don't gush over someone, you automatically hate them.

Oh, I hate them so much, I checked out that website you sent me a couple years ago. The guy who essentially covered.

But yeah, the guy has talent. I just can't stand the band. ;)

lol. Yes KK, I know you are an LP fan. I remember those conversations. It's kind of a shock really :p That guy just covered What I've Done in piano. Not bad either. He doesn't care for the song either but this guy has covered a bunch of LP songs and just decided it would sound better in piano which it...does.

I avoided criticizing you because I know your dark secret;)

Kane Knight 05-26-2007 10:08 AM

Naw. I'm just mocking certain stupid people who fail at critical reasoning. ;)

The unfortunate thing is that this record basically sounds like Linkin Park decided to rip off a Nine Inch Nails record. Superficially it's different, but it's really just the same old Malibu Stacy with a new hat. Which wouldn't be so bad, but I took LP off my MP3 player entirely because there wasn't enough stuff I wanted to listen to.

I heard people caling it different, and forgot that "different" means something...Welkl, different to the pop culture crowd.
