One of WWE's biggest stars has decided to leave the company in the near future. Also, an important behind-the-scenes person is also planning on leaving the company. The names should be revealed within the next few days.

Just a guess, but I'm thinking its Rob Van Dam. WHo do you guys believe it is?

I gotta be honest, if Benoit left and went to TNA, TNA could get over just booking 60 minute Benoit vs Angle matches every show.

I'm going to interpret 'biggest stars' as in size. Therefore, I'm going out on a limb and saying Viscera's leaving WWE.

If it's biggest stars is in terms of size, I'm picking Kane.

If not I go with RVD or Benoit.

I'm going to go with Kane.

And I think the backstage guy who is leaving will be Mr. Dynamic Dude.

Everytime someone mentions this I always think about how funny it would be to see Kane come out to help seperate two brawling superstars like other agents do.

He could be like the go to guy for splitting up inpromtu fights!

That would be awesome, random brawl breaks out, then Kane's pyro and music hit, he comes out in a suit and throws himself between two brawling guys yelling "break it up!"

WO says "major stars" are leaving. Something of that magnitude would likely have in depth coverage, rather than leaving it open to interpretation.

In reality, they're probably banking on longshots.

To clear it up KK - it was taken from the Observer newsletter preview, the in depth coverage will be in that. It's just that sites waiting for it to come in the mail so they can post it as their own that added the "the names will be revealed soon" part.

I have the feeling "Major Star" means nothing...BUT...I can hope Cena has decided to pursue other things. Not that he's good at other things, just that he needs to get the hell out of the WWE.

Just thinking, if it was Cena, WWE would probably just throw in the towel and shut down, realizing they could never recover from losing such a star. :shifty:

According to PWInsider, it's going to be RVD.

Several sources are confirming that Rob Van Dam has turned down his latest contract offer to remain with World Wrestling Entertainment. As of now, his deal is set to expire over the summer (I believe but can not confirm late July) but until the deal has expired, there's always a chance that the two sides will come to terms. As of right now, I've heard that creative has been instructed to focus on CM Punk and Elijah Burke as the major players for the ECW brand so that if Van Dam does depart, it's not as strong of a blow to the ECW storylines.

Van Dam has been with WWE since July 2001 when he was brought in as part of the ECW end of the ill-fated Alliance contingent during the Invasion storyline. Van Dam has held just about every major WWE championship belt, although he was never pushed as a top performer for any extended period of time despite a large contingent of fan support, especially early in his tenure.

Should he leave the company, Van Dam's true legacy would be that he was the primary motivating factor in convincing Vince McMahon to revive Extreme Championship Wrestling for the 2005 ECW One Night Stand PPV event, which ironically, Van Dam missed due to a knee injury, although he did give the best promo of his career during the show.

When WWE decided to re-launch ECW as a third brand for the company, Van Dam captured the WWE championship from John Cena and was then awarded the resurrected ECW World championship. The original plan was for Van Dam to have a long run with the ECW belt while dropping the WWE title, but those plans were tossed aside when he and Sabu were pulled over for speeding and later charged with possession of a controlled substance. Van Dam quickly dropped both belts and was suspended by the company. Upon his return, he remained a top-tier ECW player but the brand was no longer built around him.

Prior to his WWE run, Van Dam worked for the original Extreme Championship Wrestling from January 1996 to the end of the company's existence, although there were times towards the end of ECW that he took extended breaks from wrestling when ECW wasn't able to pay him to perform. During his ECW run, he gradually graduated from undercard heel feuding with Sabu to the top babyface attraction of the latter days of the company. Van Dam also worked briefly for WCW under the moniker Robby V and toured All Japan Pro Wrestling.

Considered to be an extremely popular performer among die hard fans, Van Dam would be highly prized on the independent scene should he leave the company, particularly since he's had usage of the Rob Van Dam ring name from 1992 on and likely wouldn't be prevented from using it by World Wrestling Entertainment, as the former Dudley Boys, Team 3D have.

So we'll see reports over the next three weeks over the next guy that loses a few matches being "in the doghouse" because he plans on leaving?

If it's RVD, it's not news. Its been reported that RVD might leave for about four months now.
This brings a question.
If RVD leaves WWE and goes to TNA, do you think TNA bookers will be smart enough to stick RVD versus Jerry Lynn on Impact?
Show those X-division guys what a match between two "little guys" can be. Of course TNA would have to let them go at least half an hour.

If it's RVD, it's not news. RVD's unlikely to go anywhere anytime soon.

I've said this god knows how many times, but if Rob Van Dam leaves ECW before he and Punk have a sXe/420 feud I am going to scream bloody murder!

"Smart"? RVD/Lynn would HAVE to be on PPV.

But really, RVD would MAYBE get a huge push with one run as NWA/TNA (whatever it is at the moment) champion and be lost in the shuffle with bad booking like so many others have been in TNA.

It'll probably be a not so big big star like Finlay or Carlito or something like that.

Or, to be accurate, he finally got his push at the top, but fucked it up by getting arrested for drugs.

I think the ultimate twist and sign of the apocolypse would be Triple H signing with TNA. It would be the most unexpected and probably worst decision ever.

Bats seems like the type whos gotten all he would want out of the industry and has made enough to walk out on it and retire. Doesn't seem like the type who'd be getting the itch to wrestle in front of a live crowd while he has a cold beer by the pool.

Rob Van Dam isn't really news, so the article is pretty silly if it is referring to him. The only other guys I can see leaving are Kane, Chavo Guerrero and Chris Benoit. Chavo's contract is apparently coming up, and he hasn't re-signed (he's not exactly a big star, but you know how the headlines talk themself up). Kane and Chris Benoit are just two older guys I can see moseying off into the sunset.

Well Van Dam was touch and go for a while, they gave him the Mania win as a sweetener, but have apparently decided to offer him less money than originally planned, plus he wanted 6 month of to rest and a lighter schedule.

So expect Rob to job for the next 16 weeks ok?
