Christianity in wrestling

Besides Sting, Jericho, HBK and the like, who else is Christian in wrestling today? Doesn't Ted Dibiase have his own fed dedicated to The Lord?

ps- Waiting for this to be another shit thread... ;) :o

Mike the Metal Ed 02-22-2004 05:39 PM

Jake Roberts made a great born again Christian. :shifty:

Ricky 02-22-2004 05:42 PM

Um.. Christian. :shifty:

Incidentally, I think Shawn Michaels is basically pissing all over Christianity right now...

The Naitch 02-22-2004 05:49 PM

how so?

AJ Styles I know for a fact is a devoted Christian

MVP 02-22-2004 06:06 PM

Hacksaw Jim Duggan is very faithful as well.

OssMan 02-22-2004 06:09 PM

The Naitch 02-22-2004 06:15 PM

keep em' coming guys. I'm born again, and I need some inspiration from wrestlers that can relate to what I'm doing. Rey Rey is too right?

The Naitch 02-22-2004 06:32 PM

yeah, go away

Loser aside, it would make a sweet heel turn if he lost his smile again and started going off at God for being screwed out of the title or whatever.

Yup, damn you god for influencing the script writers.

Too bad Trips would probably make God do the job sooner or later.

Volchok 02-22-2004 09:14 PM

yeah goldberg is a jew....but i am a Christian and i was suprised when i found out that Jericho was a Christian and btw... the 25th of this month " The Passion Of Christ " comes out in the movies anyone who is thinking about or needs to think about Christianity should go see it..

Watson 02-22-2004 09:27 PM

Chris Jericho's religious? I didn't know that.

The Tool 02-22-2004 09:35 PM

I don't know what relevance a wrestler's religious believes are? Being a christian doesn't make anyone any better or worse of a wrestler/person than being jewish, atheist, agnostic, muslim, or budhist etc..

Watching a guy wearing a "Jesus" fish with his logo inside it battling in a blood feud against someone whom he hates hardly seems like it's very "christian."

The guy wears his religion on his sleeve (T-Shirt in this case) but exactly living it.

I personally don't think he should use his religion as a gimmick unless he's interested in acting the part. Maybe if he can't live up to that onscreen, he should keep the religious symbols out of the ring.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut that's just me, and the point's moot since I wouldn't be merchandising my saviour in his shoes.

Joe Kerr 02-23-2004 12:29 AM

isnt the million dolar man a minister now?

The Naitch 02-23-2004 12:34 AM

But KK, if he has no one to feud with, what's he supposed to do? Honestly, another Shawn Michaels/Undertaker feud would be fockin' SWEET!!!!! Maybe even against Kane.

The Naitch 02-23-2004 12:35 AM

Yes, Million Dollar man has his own fed. A christian type fed I think.

And what has that got to do with the whole Christianity deal here?

Rock Bottom 02-23-2004 01:09 AM

LOL, Michaels holding up a cross against Taker or Kane. That would go down as the most horrible angle of all times.

Joe Kerr 02-23-2004 02:07 AM

reverend devon

EazyMack 02-23-2004 04:01 AM

I believe you and all, but how do you know Jericho's a Christian? I'm just wondering. That is a bit of a surprise to me.

PorkSoda 02-23-2004 06:50 AM

Eddie Guerrero is a christian. He says it in Unscripted, and he mentioned he does stuff by the Grace of God the Smackdown before the PPV against Lesnar.

DaveWadding 02-23-2004 08:51 AM

LOL... "Jericho's a Christian?!?"

Some of you guys are total class...

Where do you think he got the name Jericho? Did he just pull it out of his ass or something?

Sephiroth 02-23-2004 09:23 AM

Lets see Sting, AC styles, Jericho, Million Dollar Man, HBK and Eddie are Christians that are the guys that i know of they are Christians...so thats pretty good IMO.

Spoon Bender 02-23-2004 10:53 AM

Hogan says his prayers...but then he also trains hard and takes his vitamins so I'm not sure what that makes him.

Ultimate Warrior is a Conservative, does that count? :shifty:

No wait a minute, I forget that Taker was sent as the angel of peace by God. Nevermind. And Kane is a playschool teacher who works as a vetenarian part time on the side.

The Naitch 02-23-2004 10:58 AM

Yeah, and Hogan actually takes "vitamins"

You need to lay off the crack, man.

Kane Knight 02-23-2004 10:59 AM

And maybe be more than a lip service Christian.

The Naitch 02-23-2004 11:04 AM

You're the second guy who told me that. Maybe there's something in my coffee.

Jesus?

The Naitch 02-23-2004 11:08 AM

On the serious, I figure that Taker turns heel, starts going Satanic on everyone, that's where HBK comes in. Most feuds today don't even have a reason, but atleast this one has some sense to it and that way, it can bring that "New Generation" feeling back. It will also be another classic good vs. evil feud. But the interesting part would have to be which side will the fans choose? This could be another Bret vs. Austin type deal.

The Naitch 02-23-2004 11:10 AM

And maybe Batista could even side with Taker or something. Remember when Reverend Devon preached agaisnt masturbation? LOL, he probably masturbated with Batista on the low low. :shifty:

Fryza 02-23-2004 11:14 AM

I don't see why it matters. Seriously, their religion really doesn't effect their wrestling abilities. *shrug*

Oh, and Father James Mitchell sounds pretty Christian. :shifty:

Batista also used to be Leviathan.

The Naitch 02-23-2004 11:17 AM

Has nothing to do with the wrestling. It could be used as a reason to back up a feud. Wrestling is scripted anyways, so why does it matter if they use Christianity vs. Satanism (couldn't find the right word, sorry) to back up a classic good vs. evil feud.?

You notice how BUFF Hulk was when he used to say his prayers? Then he went nWo and got all saggy?

I think God was a little peeved.

Wrestling didn't suck enough when they tried to throw in flag waving...Let's add in an endorsement of religion in a very cheesey and disgraceful fashion to the pot...

Nowhere Man 02-25-2004 10:28 PM

I believe Mr. McMahon used to be a hardline Catholic, but then got excommunicated over religious differences. See, the Pope's Catholic, and Vince is the Anti Christ.
