Sometimes I want to listen to really hard metal and can't find anything hard enough

It is hard to explain, but sometimes I just get in the mood were I want music to kick my ass and I can't find anything that can do it. And I go through all the usual suspects too like Slayer, Pantera and Superjoint Ritual, and a bunch of death metal and black metal and all of that, but none of it seems to be hard enough for me. I don't know what to do.

I guess I should just fight someone.

El Fangel 05-09-2007 01:13 AM

if you haven't tried already.

Children of Bodom
Killswitch Engage
Opeth

Blitz 05-09-2007 01:24 AM

Dude, if Slayer isn't hard enough, I doubt any of those are.

SammyG 05-09-2007 01:24 AM

i dunno, Slipknot?

The Naitch 05-09-2007 01:38 AM

try some N*Sync. SammyG swears by it.

Penner 05-09-2007 01:59 AM

Beneath The Massacre
The Acacia Strain

try those

Silent 05-09-2007 02:16 AM

Underoath's albums "Act of Depression" and "Cries of the Past".

Zao

ron the dial 05-09-2007 02:51 AM

Black Dahlia Murder
Immortal
Death

Although fighting would work, too.

Just for mention Opeth I'm going to ignore you. The people that like Opeth don't like metal.

ct2k 05-09-2007 10:29 AM

Dunno, only black metal bands that would come close to what you're after are someone like Immortal or if you're after a real ear-bleeder, Anaal Nathrakh.

As far as death metal goes try Nile, Immolation, Suffocation or Cryptopsy.

Thrash ain't gonna cut it if you're after something really extreme, only the odd song here and there. Pantera went pretty harsh on TGSTK though, always worth a listen if you're pissed off.

ct2k 05-09-2007 10:29 AM

Oh and another recommendation is Pig Destroyer, grind band as opposed to all-out metal but still, they're pretty brilliant. They make a noise like you'll never have heard before (I think) and without bass gits either, good shit.

Rammsteinmad 05-09-2007 10:43 AM

Marillion. :shifty:

ct2k 05-09-2007 10:54 AM

Yeah word

BigDaddyCool 05-09-2007 11:58 AM

I'm psyched, get to see Nile for free this summer.

ct2k 05-09-2007 12:27 PM

Nile do possibly the best song intros in the world ever x infinity

Blitz 05-09-2007 03:16 PM

Cannibal Corpse, even tho they suck.

Yes.

Also, 40 Below Summer are pretty good.

ct2k 05-09-2007 06:36 PM

Cannibal Corpse are not hugely 'hard', and they're actually pretty proficient musicians, they just don't tend to mix it up a whole lot:D

Kris P Lettus 05-09-2007 06:45 PM

Old Ministry like their self titled and Land of Rape and Honey..

OssMan 05-09-2007 07:54 PM

Saosin and Chiodos for hard bands that suck

Neurosis for a hard band thats good

FakeLaser 05-09-2007 08:08 PM

Howard's original band, blood has been shed, is also pretty heavy.

Yeah, they are way heavier then even KsE's first album.

Penner 05-10-2007 05:01 AM

Assman are you fucking kidding me with Saosin and Chiodos

Skippord 05-10-2007 05:53 AM

Seriously though Mayhem wins

Impact! 05-10-2007 09:47 AM

Depends what you want...like when you say heavy are you after grind, breakdowns, loud?

Stickman 05-10-2007 01:57 PM

Limp Bizkit.....i couldn't type that with a straight face.

Dunno how you can say a comically dressed black metal band with intentionally terrible, tinny production could be 'harder' than some good old Brutal death metal, eejit:foc:

BigDaddyCool 05-10-2007 02:32 PM

None of the stuff mentioned thus far are heavy enough.

BTW, I have impossibly high standards for metal and how how hard and heavy and metal it should be.

ct2k 05-10-2007 02:37 PM

If you want heaviness then the heaviest stuff is doom/sludge that kinda thing, metal is heavy but with most extreme metal the speed of it takes away from that.

I honestly think you're after something that doesn't exist though.

Penner 05-10-2007 03:09 PM

Yeah if Beneath The Massacre isn't hard enough youre nuts

Stickman 05-10-2007 04:25 PM

BDC likes it hard.

Black Metal owns Death Metal

Silent 05-10-2007 11:18 PM

Horde is a pretty good black metal band.

Kane Knight 05-10-2007 11:18 PM

I have the same problem with Rock. I listen to songs and I thin khow awesome they'd be if they were heavier. Instead of Heavier Rock, I get Heavy MEtal, though, and then I think how awesome some of that would be if it was just...HEAVIER.

Listen to the song Eucharist.

HankScorpio 05-15-2007 12:33 PM

How about some strapping Young Lad... they just get heavier. Perhaps even some old Carcass, try their albums Necrotism or Heartwork.
Vision of Disorder - Imprint
Will Haven - WHVN
Bongzilla - any ... they're DAMN heavy, but as the name suggests, DAMN slow

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-15-2007 08:03 PM

Cryptopsy's "Slit Your Guts" and "Emaciate" should pretty much eviscerate you from 200 yards away.

BigDaddyCool 05-17-2007 12:56 AM

So you pack of homos are really trying to tell me that if I don't think Slayer is hard enough, this shit is really going to be better? Really? You fags think so?

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-17-2007 10:28 AM

I like Slayer, but Cryptopsy makes Slayer out to be a bunch of old housewives at a Tupperware party.

Just John 05-17-2007 10:31 AM

40 Below Summer - Training Day is pretty good

Slayer really isnt all that hard :-\

Silent 05-17-2007 11:34 PM

I agree, some old school metal fans will think it's blasphemous but I think there's a lot heavier then Slayer.

They arent as hard as Black Metal or Death Metal

el fregadero 05-20-2007 07:12 PM

How is slayer not hard enough then, BDC?

Champion of Europa 05-20-2007 08:20 PM

This is all just really hard and angry stuff. Not sure if it qualifies as metal.

The Number Twelve Looks Like You
Daughters
The Chariot
The Jonbenet

Give them a go.

longboardAle 06-11-2007 09:02 PM

Arsis ( probably the best Death metal band to make a record since CS untimely demise )

Boris ( Japanese Stoner rock )

Khanate ( Brutal Brutal Drone Metal )

Anata ( Pretty wicked technical Death metal band )

Demilich ( Jazz metal with the lowest vocals you'll ever hear )

EYEHATEGOD ( Gold ole' Southern Sludge metal )

Gorguts ( terrific metal band, their album Obscura will blow your face off )

Sleep ( Greatest stoner metal band, Dopesmoker and Jerasulem rule )

Mithotyn ( Folk metal, but still 100x harder then any of the shit listed in this thread )

Sunn 0))) - no need to explain with such a kvlt name like this.

Ninti the Mad 06-11-2007 09:16 PM

Sepultura is my favorite for heaviness.

The Chaos AD album is the best shit ever.

Not thrashy but quick, technical, and tuned down guitars for a very heavy sound.

Skippord 06-11-2007 09:46 PM

Sepultura is awesome

Ninti, thank you. I keep forget Sepultura existes. They are probably good because they have been around for a bit and aren't some new piece of shit claiming to be hard.

El Vaquero de Infierno 06-12-2007 04:47 PM

Reminds me, i need to buy some Sepultura on CD.

If they are the same band I'm thinking of, then they are like Iron Maiden except with a huge amount of gay thrown in.

And while I love TDWP, I don't know if BDC is going to care for a christian metalcore band. :p
