After a three-season hiatus, 2K Sports and Visual Concepts have already made it known they'd be returning to the gridiron in a big way. Taking the Space Cowboys approach, 2K has signed on more than 240 legends of days gone by to pad out All-Pro Football 2K8's roster. With blown knees, torn ligaments, and broken legs mostly a nonissue, the question of who would grace All-Pro 2K8's cover remained up in the air, however.

Getting the old gang back together!

Today, 2K Sports pulled three names out of its pool of all-stars. A potent offense seems to be the theme, as John Elway, Jerry Rice, and Barry Sanders will be featured on the game's cover. Of the selection, Erik Whiteford, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports, stated, "John Elway, Barry Sanders, and Jerry Rice are well-recognized for their great competitive spirit, legendary talents, and passion for the game of football."

Also recently surfacing were details on All-Pro 2K8's soundtrack. 2K previously noted an "all-pro producer" would crank out remixes from classic artists, with DJ Z-Trip's mash-up of Rush's "Tom Sawyer" featured on the game's Web site. Recently, the company announced DJ Z-Trip will be bringing more of his brand of mix to All-Pro 2K8. With EA Trax dominating the Madden soundscape, 2K continues its line of innovative soundtracks by bringing the mixtape approach to the gridiron for the first time. In the past, 2K tapped producer Dan the Automator to mix the score for NBA 2K7, while another famed mix master, RJD2, provided the intros and outros to NBA 2K6's soundtrack album.

All-Pro Football 2K8 will be the first time 2K Sports has visited the pigskin after acquiring Visual Concepts from Sega in 2004. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's latest updates.

Hmm...I'm really bitchy about sports games though. I hate anything unrealistic and this falls into that category. I won't write it off yet though, interesting to check out.

This will own Madden. I've been vocal about this issue in the past. And if something like the recent Blitz revamp can get by...

I am very disappointed in myself for having never given NFL2K5 a chance. It really does feel better than Madden to me. I guess I had played Madden so long I didn't know how not to play it.

Madden is supposedly making pretty significant strides this year too, so the competition could be well worth it to the consumer.

F'n sweet. Those animations EA is boasting are all present in that trailer and 2K Sports didn't even say anything about them like, "Yeah, whatever." I will be honest, there has to be some type of developer rust there, so I'll predict right here and now that APF 2K9 will be the greatest football game ever.

I haven't bought a football game since Madden 2002 when I first got my PS2 but I'm pretty sure I'll be buying this.

I think they just mentioned RJD2 because he did the NBA one, I don't see his name on the list of artists for this game unfortunately.

Hopefully they will have Pre game in studio, Halftime highlights, post game interviews and shit. The whole nine.

If IGN are to be believed then this year's is the 3rd of 5 that will fall under the exclusive licence. Hopefully the NFL will have realised that competition is actually good and not sell it off to one party again.

I know today was the launch day and more than likely nobody here has played this, but just in case...anyone here played this yet and can tell me if it's any good?

Won't be able to get it 'til tomarrow, but the commercial is lame.

It lacks features but it's not horrible. It's just really plain. I don't care about mini-games (that's what I have a Wii for) but I do wish there was a franchise mode.

Is it just me or is the football really "floaty?" I've had passes that bounced off of players and go an extra ten yards, only to be caught.

I played it for all of 5 minutes, so I'll save my full judgment until I actually have some time to play it tomorrow. I'll say that it's basically any old 2K game with really good animations and collision detection. I just hate the fact that I haven't heard of like 75% of the players...so I had no idea who to pick.

GOT IT. I shall now commence in playing it. :cool:

Just played my first game online. No lag whatsoever. Won 14-13 when he missed an extra point.

I sent you a friend invite, Mac. We will have to play when I don't absolutely suck.

Yeah I beat DS 34 - 14.

I felt defeat as soon as you made that first touchdown. Kinda thought of just throwing hail marys for the rest of the game and then I got that touchdown from the kick return and thought I might still have a chance.

I guess it depends on what you want to do really. If you're into Franchise mode and mini-games and stuff as well as everything else then I'd probably go Madden. I love this one but I do wish it had a Franchise mode or something.

I don't mind just a Season mode. Due to the great customization in it. Finish a season with a team and create a whole new team for another season. Great replay value.

It doesn't look at this point like there will be a non-US release, so you'll have to have the PS3 version imported :mad:

K I won the championship and have no desire to start a new season. Guess I'll trade this in for Tiger Woods 08.
