Baseball Trivia
You know, because it's fun.
Since 2000, 4 players have collected at least 200 base hits and 40 home runs in a single season. Name them. |
Todd Helton, Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez, and.... I can't come up with a fourth player
I'm going to say ManRam
Arod did it with Mariners and then later w/ Rangers. Helton, Pujols, and I am going to guess Soriano w/ Yankees. Might be Vlad but I don't think sp.
The Miz I'm disappointed you don't know the last guy.
Adrian Beltre is the last one
ding ding ding
Yeha like I pay attention to the Dodgers
This outfielder is the only played to ever be intentionally walked 5 times in one game.
Bonds?
Naw
I thought Bonds had pretty much every intentional walk record possible :-\
Andre Dawson, that was easy.
Google easy.
Name the two players to hit 50 homers in a season and steal 50 bases in another season.
well I know Bonds is surely one.
Brady Anderson is one of them I think
Brady ever steal 50 bases?
just looked, yup in '93 he had 53 stolen bases.
-weird career, that Mr. Anderson. 53 stolen bases in a season, but never again came close to those type of #'s, just like the 50 HR year. |
I think Bonds only stole 50 bases once and it was in the same year he hit 50 HR so that does not count. I think Willie Mays did it and I am gonna guess Frank Robinson.
it was Bonds and Anderson
Bonds only hit 50 homers once and that was his 73 year |
oh. new question
Who R the only two players with 50 doubles and 50 steals in a season
Craig Biggio and ???
Craig Biggo and Tris Speaker
:y:
Name the 6 members of the 300-300 club.
that's homers and stolen bases btw
Barry Bonds, Bobby Bonds, Wille Mays, Andre Dawson, Reggie Sanders, and Steve Finlay
Rickey's gotta be there....right??
nope he has hit 297 home runs
All the more reason for him to unretire and hit leadoff for the Mets
I argee
Is Griffey seriously not 300-300
He has only stolen 184 bases.
Who holds the record for the most HRs as a teenager
I have heard the answer to this before, I remeber it being an older player. I think Griff is second with 16
I know Ott has more than Griffey because he started playing when he was 17 but I'm not sure if he's #1.
Tony Conigliaro
It's amazing how easy it is when you use Google
Baseball-reference.com there, sir.
Isn't the point of trivia to see whether or not you know it. I know some handicapped kids that could probably look it up

No, it is not.
Name the player with the most World Series rings who never played for the Yankees. |
yeah, don't google shit :(
Make it hard/fun |
Tony C.
read up on him last year and a bit again this year, pretty interesting career. |
In regards to Supreme's question: Barry Bonds.
I'd think it's a Giant or Dodger. Most likely a New York Giant or Brooklyn Dodger
Hints:
-He never played for a New York team period -He is a Hall of Famer -He is in the top 30 all time in avg, OBP, runs, hits, triples, and stolen bases |
I'd think maybe an Oakland A from their 70's teams.
My guess is Eddie "College Boy" Collins
Eddie Collins would be the correct answer.
5 rings with the Philadelphia A's, 1 with the Chicago White Sox |
Shoulda been 2
Reds would've won anyway :shifty:
lol.
Collins hit like shit in that series. I thought it had to have been someone from the A's. I was going to post Stuffy McGinnis, but it didn't sound right to me. Miz :y: |
There have only been 15 times in major league history that a player has collected at least 240 hits in a season. Of those 15 cases, only 3 times did the player who had at least 240 hits win the MVP award. Name those 3 players.
Daren Erstad is not one of them.
Ichiro, Williams, Brett?
Ichiro, Cobb, Hornsby
Ichiro and Cobb are correct. Hornsby despite having one of the greatest individual seasons of all time in 1922 where he had 250 hits, .401 avg, 141 runs, 42 homers, 152 rbis did not win the MVP because nobody in the National League won the MVP.
The final person had 240+ hits twice. |
Joe Jackson?
Jackson never won an MVP. his 1911 season was very close to Cobbs though.
pretty sure it has to be Sisler. He won an MVP in the 20's and I'm just taking a guess it was the same year he had around 240 hits. |
I didn't realise Sisler won any MVP's, thought of him right away.... As for Jackson, no MVPs? Huh.
nope. his 1911 and 1912 seasons could be argued, but it went to Cobb and then Speaker.
Sisler is correct. He won in 1922 by hitting .420 with 246 knocks. He benefited from Cobb, Ruth and Speaker all missing a number of games that year.
Interestingly enough Ichiro and Sisler both had seasons with more hits than they did the year they won. |
Name the 4 sets of teammates who've each driven in at least 150 runs in the same season. One player did it with two separate teammates.
Gehrig and Ruth
Gehrig and Dimaggio  I have to think about the others |
Simmons and Foxx.
having trouble with the final one |
Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth
Jimmie Foxx and Al Simmons Joe DiMaggio and Lou Gehrig Ted Williams and Vern Stephens |
correct
you know when talking about greatest players of all time, Gehrig's name does not get brought up nearly enough |
Name the only person in baseball history to have 3 straight seasons of hitting 40 or more homers and striking out 40 or less times.
hint: he's not a hall of famer
Ted Kluzewski (sp)
Name one player post-1900 who has driven in over 100 runs and hit less than 10 home runs.
Note: Sam Thompson and Cap Anson did it, but this was before 1900 so those are not one the answers. Hint: At least 3 people have done it |
lol, you know those are dead ball era guys. let me think about it.
Wagner
Lajoie Speaker There's probably a ton more too. |
oh, you said one.
k, I'll do one until Supreme comes back.
Most baseball fans know about the 1919 Sox scandal and all the players from that team that were banned because of it. But here's my question. What other current (at that time) mlb player also recieved a lifetime ban from baseball along with the Sox players for being associated with the fix? |
Joe Gedeon of the St. Louis Browns...have heard that question before
I'll post a question later when I can think of one |
OK, another ban related question:
believe it or not - these two Hall of Fame players were banned from organized baseball for a short while before new Commissioner Peter Uberroth lifted the suspension in 1985 |
Mantle and Mays. That commisioner was a moron.
Why were Mantle ands Mays banned :?:
Mantle and Mays were both retired by 1985 :?:
cause they both worked at or were involved with a casino. it was stupid
also, you can get banned from baseball whether you're retired or not.
here's a cool one for you.
On the 50th anniversary of a particular all-star game, a Hall of Fame pitcher was on hand to throw out the first pitch. During the game, 2 NL pitchers combined to strikeout 6 AL batters in a row, an All-Star game record. That record broke the previous record of 5, which was held by the very same guy throwing out the first pitch. Name the HOF player who threw out the first pitch? Name the two pitchers who combined to strike out 6 in a row? |
I have no idea what the answer to that question and I doubt anyone else does so I'm going to do a slightly easier one:
Name the two members of the 30 HR/50 SB club. |
and after this season Hanley Ramirez might be the 3rd member
my answer was Carl Hubbell (struck out Ruth, Gehrig, Foxx, Simmons and Cronin)
and Fernando Valenzuela and Dwight Gooden Supreme's answer is Barry Bonds and Eric Davis |
Hanley got # 29 tonight. 51 SBs... Go Hanley.
Ramirez hurt his hand pretty bad today :(
Fuck, Eric Davis was so good. 86-87 combined for 64 homers and 130 stolen bases
anyway bringing this back lemme think of a good question |
Four players have had at least 130 runs, 130 rbi's, and 130 walks in a single season. Name them.
Ruth, Gehrig, Ted Williams, Bonds
Ruth, Gehrig, and Williams are correct. Bonds is not, although he did come close in 04 with 129 R, 137 RBI, and 177 BB.
Giambi? McGwire? Bagwell? :(
Mark McGwire is the final man. 130 R, 147 RBI, 162 BB in his 70 HR season.
Name the 7 clubs that have had 10 or more players win the MVP while on the team
multiple winners are ok, count the award not the player |
