I'm reading The Death of WCW right now, and I've just been cracking up at how absolutely ridiculous everything turned out. Some of the stuff I remember, but some of the stuff I either forgot or never saw. Use this thread to post anything you remember about WCW. Good, bad, whatever. Your favorite stuff. I was always more of a WWF fan far and away, and I usually only watched the first hour of Nitro unless I was up for the replay, but I still have some pretty fond memories.

Remember whenever somebody tried to powerbomb Billy Kidman, he would flip out of it and drive their face into the mat? Well check this...

At a house show once, I ended up with 2nd row tickets. The match was Chris Benoit v. Billy Kidman. The entire match, I kept yelling "DO NOT POWERBOMB KIDMAN! HE WILL REVERSE IT! DO NOT POWERBOMB KIDMAN!". They obviously heard me from the second row. Benoit sets Kidman up for a powerbomb, and I scream "NOOOOOOOOOO!". Benoit looks RIGHT AT ME, then goes to powerbomb Kidman...and succeeds. Kidman didn't flip out or anything.

I thought that was pretty awesome. That spot had to be JUST for me.

I really miss WCW somedays, I know it was crazy, but it was crazy in a good way where you just had to laugh at it. Still confused by the entire Hummer angle, was always lost with that and never cared. PS this is a 5 star thread, each star for the amount of times Booker T/GI Bro held a world heavyweight title.

I forget exactly but I know him and someone else from the Howard Stern Show were judging some contest. Early on Kevin Nash and the Natural Born Thrillers ran into him backstage and Kevin Nash told him "Hey Elix, how's it goin."

Later on Jarrett ran into him and made fun of him, Beetlejuice calls Jarret Slap Nuts, Jarrett broke a guitar over his head, main event (I think Steiner vs DDP) was a hardcore match, Beetlejuice popped out of one of the garbage cans and cost Steiner the match. Steiner got mad and beat up DDP and put Beetlejuice in the Recliner to close Nitro for that week.

Sounds like a solid show to me.

Somewhere in 2000 when they were trying to reinvent the company. I was actually watching the episode sadly...I tuned in when he started the rant.

TNA is nowhere near as good as the WCW of 2000 onward. :-\

Only thing in WCW I remember being called Deadpool was Raven just before he told WCW to go fuck themselves and went back to ECW.

I guess Russo ran out of the better of the bad ideas then.

yea, the last years of Nitro are a bit of a blur to me...so much was fucked up, I was probably tuning it out or watching Raw...then again, I was getting bored of wrestling in general around 2000 or so. Some people keep saying it was one of the best years in wrestling, but nothing struck me like 98-99 (which is when I started to watch).

The Dead Pool consisted of Vampiro, Raven, and The Insane Clown Posse.

Sadly (and I know this is the WCW thread), I think TNA was better in the day when they were trying to recreate the WCW vs. nWo feud with NWA vs. SeX. I don't think they've been as entertaining since that time.

I thought Raven in that group was called Deadpool...again, started loosing track of what was going on then.

Fuck TNA. Let's talk about Ciclope, Sliver King, and Villano IV. Not Villano V, though.

TNA is the goods, currently.

WCW with Ernest "The Cat" Miller...liked him in the karate gimmick and the dancing gimmick. Wonder what ever happen to him.

Just seems people were so used to hearing the term "the wwf" it also got applied to wcw without anyone thinking how retarded it sounded.

Well first of all, he was a part of The Kliq, therefore he automatically gets a free pass to the front of the line in my book, but beyond that; he's an awesome talent. His matches with Eddie in WCW was wonderful...his 1-2-3 Kid character, while bring very one sided, was fun for me growing up...and more than most I credit him with the movement that allowed many fans to accept a smaller workers. Sure Rey and Juvi and Kidman got them massively popular, but it was Waltman who put the 220 and under wrestler on the map.

RAW wins that night after everyone hears that and turns over to see Foley win. Nitro wins the overrun meaning that after Foley won the title they switched back to Nitro.

LOL, speaking of Revenge, I just broke my old Handicap Match point record beating both Hogan and Hart with Jericho yesterday. God I love that game.

I never thought people would get so pissed off at Alex Wright just because he eliminated sixteen people and won a 40 man battle royale until I played Revenge.

I always loved how you could steal other peoples taunts. Countless times we'd do the rumble match and have everyone doing Disco Inferno dance. Nothing like Juvi, Hogan and Zybsko all doing some disco with DI.

I wonder what Yugi Nagata is up to these days.

I got satellite cable so I could actually watch WWE and WCW on TV. I would watch RAW and SD!, but on a boring summer night with nothing to do, I would catch WCW on TV

I really don't understand why WWE hasn't signed Roadblock yet.

God I miss WCW-era Jericho. Every promo that he did, there were 2 or 3 parts where I had tears in my eyes from cracking up. I can't think of any wrestling persona that I've enjoyed more. Was actually thinking about making a WCW Jericho Appreciation Thread, but just never got around to it.
