ECW champions a new Punk era
Written: September 4, 2007ECW has a new bastion of extreme and he goes by the name of Punk. This past Saturday night at a television taping in Cincinnati, No. 1 contender CM Punk reshaped the Land of the Extreme by seizing the ECW Championship from John Morrison. Catch this competitive contest in its entirety as well as Punk’s celebration tonight on a monumental edition of ECW on Sci Fi.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been proud of myself before, and tonight I am,” uttered the newly crowned champion, just moments after his golden victory. “Ten years of sacrifice and hard work, one year in ECW, setback after setback — you think something like this will never happen. Tonight, it all paid off.”

After coming within inches of the title in several instances against Morrison, the tenacious Straightedge Superstar defeated three other competitors – Boogen, The Miz and Big Daddy V – last week on ECW on Sci Fi to earn No. 1 contendership. Persistent as ever, CM Punk walked into the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati and unseated the self-proclaimed Shaman of Sexy in the middle of the ring in front of thousands of elated Punk fans.

I meant they made each other tonight. Morrison/Nitro looked good in losing. He is strong because of it. After he comes back from searching his soul in a month, or whatever the reason will be, he will be a serious threat to Punk.

Damn, I didn't think there would be a thread since this was taped, or I would have joined in. I would say that was the best ECW title match, and they had it on free tv. This match was easily better than all of their ppv matches from the last couple months. But I will give Morrison credit, as he did not get buried in the loss.

I enjoyed the Punk/Morrison title match tonight. If it had live I would have been up out of my seat when it was going back and forth with near falls.

I will even go one step farther and say it might have been the best match of ECW since it became WWEs 3rd brand last june.

The Morrison Punk match last night was easily a 4 star match...it might even be 4 and a half. I just reserve 5 stars for really good matches, I don't like throwing them out all willy-nilly.

How long was it? I have to wait till tomorrow night, sounds good
