Blitz 09-10-2007 02:34 PM

Badass.

Jura 09-10-2007 02:39 PM

I still don't know about Downey being Tony Stark but hopefully he will change my mind. I like the beginning where I'm assuming terrorists or whomever has captured him to force him into building weapons for them and he has to escape so what does he need to do? Yeah, build a huge suit and fight his way out. That completed suit is fucking sexy btw.

KingofOldSchool 09-10-2007 02:58 PM

Sweet.

94 SVT Cobra 09-10-2007 03:01 PM

god that was fucking AWSOME

Innovator 09-10-2007 03:11 PM

TITS

Jon Kano 09-10-2007 03:12 PM

Apart from the special effects, its going to suck ass. Guarantee.

Tornado 09-10-2007 04:00 PM

Looks like it could be pretty ok.

Kalyx triaD 09-10-2007 05:23 PM

Nice.

ClockShot 09-10-2007 05:40 PM

Mr Regal 09-10-2007 05:47 PM

That is a fucking quality trailer! always loved Iron Man, this film will rule.

Jura 09-10-2007 06:04 PM

I love the sound byte at the end. It reminds of the video games with Ironman in them. I ammmm Ironmannnn. I hope they make that as a ring-tone or something.

Kalyx triaD 09-10-2007 06:46 PM

"Iron Man" by Black Sabbath

thedamndest 09-10-2007 08:14 PM

I distinctly remember an interview with one of the producers or someone that said they wouldn't use the song since it had no relevance to the character. WHO SUCKED WHO OFF??

Fryza 09-10-2007 09:19 PM

Looks good.

mitchables 09-10-2007 10:27 PM

That. Looks. Awesome.

Lock Jaw 09-10-2007 10:38 PM

Looks pretty sweet except for the fact that Robert Downy Jr looks and sounds absolutely GOOFY. Hopefully that's only BEFORE he gets kidnapped and becomes Iron Man. Hopefully after that he gets less goofy and more cool.

This movie's gonna suck then.

Sephiroth 09-11-2007 02:52 PM

The trailer looks aight, but i'll have to see the movie cause it could pretty well be another fuck in the ass.

Champion of Europa 09-11-2007 04:32 PM

The HD version is on quicktime.com in the trailers section.

Downunder 09-12-2007 10:18 PM

Ok that trailer did it - I really want to see this movie.

RDJ is awesome - I don't think I've ever seen him play a bad role.

Blitz 09-13-2007 05:30 AM

Seriously, I don't get some of the hate I hear about Downey for this flick. I really cannot think of a better choice for Tony Stark.

Mr Regal 09-13-2007 03:03 PM

I agree RDJ is a great bit of casting, don't get where people are coming from when they say it's a bad pick....why is it a bad pick exactly?

He looks the part and is a fucking fantastic actor. Not to mention the fact that he is more than qualified to play Tony Stark with all his inner demons.

RDJ = Tony Stark:y:

Jon Kano 09-13-2007 04:09 PM

Yeah ok, we get it, RDJ is/was a fuckin drunk so him playing a playboy drunk on screen....yeah great. But that still doesn't mean its a good choice. Or will be a good film. Because it won't be. As I said, guaranteed.

Mr Regal 09-13-2007 04:47 PM

And that's the bottom line cos KANO said so.

The fact of the matter is somebody is yet to say why he is not a good choice.....

Kano you need to take some happy pills and stop being such a pessimist, that trailer was awesome.

Funky Fly 09-13-2007 04:54 PM

Standard superhero movie cheese is there early on, it seems. Still wanna see it.

Actually that's incorrect. Because I say its going to be awesome, you see. And that automatically renders any opinion otherwise, a moot point.

I liked Downey in the trailer.

Downunder 09-14-2007 04:31 AM

Lock Jaw is after a certian type of cool

MVP 09-14-2007 10:46 AM

Yeah this movie is gonna be amazing.

Lock Jaw 09-14-2007 02:27 PM

I am after a kind of "imposing" figure. Which Downey is not. Especially with that goofy haircut.

Fignuts 09-14-2007 02:40 PM

Why imposing?

Okay, because?

Tony Stark was a bastard industrialist, not a football player or Greek God. I think Downey worked in the trailer, for a modern Tony Stark.

That would be the point of the big steel suit

Lock Jaw 09-14-2007 08:33 PM

I in no way, shape or form, mean "imposing" in a muscular football player/Greek God way. I mean... you should look at Tony Stark and go "Now there is a man with power".

HeartBreakMan2k 09-14-2007 09:20 PM

But Stark hasn't had that in any comic I can think of due to his demons.

Lock Jaw 09-14-2007 09:38 PM

In every comic I have read, he has been an imposing "powerful" figure. Although, I do admit to only starting to read Marvel around the time of Civil War, when I guess he would pretty much have to have been imposing and powerful.

Whatever. I'm still going to see this movie regardless of anything, and I shall reserve my final judgement until such time.

Like Bill Gates?

Jura 09-14-2007 11:00 PM

Bill Gates has a thousand virgins in captivity to do as he pleases with.

He's been a powerful man, but he's also portrayed as down to earth. Something thats captured really well the way he talks to the troops in the trailer.

Kane Knight 09-15-2007 12:53 AM

I dunno. I was under the impression that Stark was a Playboy through most of his time. He went through dark phases (When his addiction got really bad), but his public demeanor was mostly playboy-like, wasn't it? The trailer fits based on that.

Mr Regal 09-15-2007 01:35 PM

Yeah Stark is a play boy figure when in the public eye. Very different in Civil War, but that is for good reason.

br0ken 09-15-2007 07:53 PM

that wuz kewl

Because it was a ham-fisted and preachy storyline which forced Stark to break character for the sake of villifying him?

HeartBreakMan2k 09-16-2007 06:56 AM

They sorta made him the hero of that story :o

Mr Regal 09-16-2007 11:59 AM

Pretty much KK ya!

And i didn't find him to be heroic at all.

Oh and WWHulk is awesome!

HeartBreakMan2k 09-16-2007 12:01 PM

WWH is amazing. If for no other reason than the punch he gave to Beast.

Jon Kano 09-16-2007 11:08 PM

Regal, why do you think I am pessimistic to think so lowly of it? - lol it will be shit I can assure you.

Daredevil, Fantastic 4, F4:RoSS, X:3, - loads of films that look awesome in the trailer and then just fall on their ass.

In my opinion RDJ does not and will not suite or be able to pull of this kind of role for me to enjoy it - and for that reason and the one just mentioned, as well as others I can't be arsed to go into - it will suck.

Don't get me wrong, its not like I want it to, but it just will.

Mr Regal 09-17-2007 11:51 AM

RDJ can do ANYTHING and pull it off.

Jon Kano 09-17-2007 07:25 PM

OK well shall see, but rest assured I'll be bumping this thread back up when what I say comes to pass.

Skippord 09-18-2007 12:50 AM

Anyone who thought the FF movies looked "awesome" in the trailers and was let down by the film should bathe with a plugged in toaster.

Jon Kano 09-19-2007 01:51 PM

I don't literally mean they looked awesome, but they did look like they would've been a hella lot more better than the actual film. And alls I am saying is that this one fits the bill.

IMO, the only real superhero films that are really awesome and great that have been churned out during this period of superhero context reliability are X-Men 1, Batman Begins, Spiderman 1 & 2. Prob a few more but only they come to mind right now.

Like I said, we shall see. And we'll all remember who said what.

Honestly I'd say there has been more good than bad comic book movies. Granted you specifically said superhero, but even if you take out the graphic novels I'm listing, the count still is higher for good.

Good: X-Men 1, X-Men 2, Spiderman 1, Spiderman 2, Batman Begins, Blade, Blade 2, Sin City, 300, Hellboy, Ghost Rider was decent, Constantine was the Hell Blazer Comic, A History Of Violence, Stardust, V For Vendetta

Bad: FF 1, FF 2, Spiderman 3, X-Men 3, The Hulk, Daredevil, Elektra, Catwoman, Ultra Violet,

That's all that comes to mind right now but for me that's 15 I enjoyed and 9 I didn't.

Thats fair enough, but christ can't people just have an opinion round here for whatever reason and people be ok with it?

Never seen A History of Violence could you tell me why its in that category? I thought it was a thrille/drama about a normal guy/hidden past shit?

Sorry, but Ghost Rider was fuckin shyt also.

Lock Jaw 09-19-2007 10:01 PM

A History of Violence was originally a graphic novel by John Wagner (guy who created Judge Dredd)

You got what you paid for.

FF2 was actually better than the trailers. That's not really saying much, here, but FFS, to act all let down that the trailers were somehow misleading in terms of movie quality is ridiculous.

Jon Kano 09-19-2007 10:45 PM

I know, but in turn, thats kinda the point of trailers; in their best ability, sound and visually, to form a construct of what the film is about, and from the FF:II trailer, I got the impression is was going to have a much more pace, action and 'cataclysmic-ness' in the film, yet there was anything but.

I really wish this piece of shit was out now to be honest.

Skippord 09-20-2007 01:09 AM

Jon Kano is Debbie Downer

Jon Kano 09-20-2007 02:15 AM

Sometimes such a notion is needed for such a film. And like I said, ye shall see.

I admit it. You've finally confused me to the point I'm gonna walk away. This is one of the most inane lines of logic I've ever seen.

HeartBreakMan2k 09-20-2007 11:25 PM

What do you mean KK? The fact that he actually tried to use that logic and blindly ignores the fact that it applies to most movies (trailer making a movie look good, movie not good) or the fact that the wording behind it may be the most convoluted statement ever (prior to this one I mean)?

Kane Knight 09-22-2007 04:23 PM

Pretty much. My mind blew a gasket trying to figure out how he thought that it supported him any way shape or form.

KK let's get this clear, right now, if it hasn't already been universally acknowledged; you cannot start, contain, continue, maintain or just generally flat-out get into a war of words based on appearances with anyone, about anyone, ok.
