One more day and it'll be a year. :nono:

I'm officially a Cena Mark.
RAW will now be good, and will be less dissappointing. |
Cena has held the title for a combined 1142 days.

Seriously, his title reign, has put him in a class he doesn't deserve, and even with the strap for 1142 days, the cock sucker still isn't over like he should be. If you ask me, if not for the girls and little boys buying his shit by the crate, he would be a flop. |
IC, his reigns have taken WWE's flagship show to record challenging lows. Even with that shit, he's a flop.

Dammit, let Y2J come back and win the fuckin title.
Now, that would be a mark out moment, imo. Cena sets Orton up for the FU, then Y2J comes in and puts him in the Walls Of Jericho. That alone would be a mark out fucking moment. |
Me.
|
It just brings a tear to my eye that Cena had a longer title reign than Diesel.
That's pretty messed up, even by vince's standards |

Countdown, Y2J, staredown, brawl. Sets up Cena's fall at No Mercy or whatever the fuck the next PPV is. |

Quote:
Yeah, that could give me a  moment. Y2J back in the WWE, is probably the best thing that could happen. |
It's longer than 12 years, obviously, since he's passed Diesel. It's the longest in 17 years, since Hulk Hogan held it for 364 days as well (4/2/89 to 4/1/90). If he retains tonight, he'd pass Randy Savage (3/27/88 to 4/1/89) later this week for the longest reign since Hogan's four-year run in 1984-88.
|
hopefully he will contract some kind of cancer from the metal used in the belt and wither up and die.
|
Quote:
|
Cena's only weakness is his prominently white upbringing.
|
But he has an advantage in that he's a PHD in Thugonomics.
|
I wonder what br0ken thinks about this :?:
|
Yeah I think he's dropping the belt tonight, unfortunately :(
|
My cousin is thinking that Orton is gonna nail the RKO when Cena flips him over in the FU....
That is what he thought would happen last time but hopefully it will happen tonight. |
Seeing Kane's one day reign depresses me. He was awesome back in the day.

I'm sure this will rev up all those Nash guys but I think it's funny as the two longest holders may be two of the worst champions on the list.
|
I think the only way Cena will drop the title will be if he is...
a) injured b) suspended c) goes to make another shit movie I think (c) is the most likely. |
Cena really isn't a bad champion, though. It's just the fact that's he's been the champion for so freakin' long.
|
But it better to have a strong title than a weak one having a championship change hands lots is not good. Many time the title stays with one person a long time so this is not new.
|
I really think it would soften the blow for a lot of people if the belt didn't spin.
|
I agree that it not a good idea to ever change to look of the titles. Cena is not the first one, but his is the most explosive change. WCW has the best ever belt with the name plate. That is what a belt should look like.
|
OK, because changing the belt makes it look weak. The person is never bigger than the belt. By chnging the belt for the person is wrong, makes the person stronger that the belg. **BAD IDEA**
|
Yeah, exactly. So Cena having the belt doesn't really make the belt look stronger. It just makes Cena look stronger. It got even more ridiculous when he dropped it to two different people, and they kept the spinner belt. Admittedly, Edge's Rated R belt looked pretty damn cool, but the fact that they didn't even bother to change the look of the belt seems as if Cena had set a new standard for being a champion.
|
So other people win the belt and keep it as a spinner :?: That is very dum.
|
Well, Edge did it and Rob Van Dam did it. No telling what the next champ will do.

If there are a number of guys right at the top of the card (like in the attitude era with Rock, Austin, Taker, Kane, Mankind, HHH) and the title keeps switching I don't see the problem. I think a lot of the credibility for a title is in who holds it (not how many people or for how long). So in this case, regardless of the length of the reign he has had, the WWE has little credibility with me cos Cena has it. |
Quote:
Although, if he wins it tonight no doubt the guys at WWE will replace the centrepiece with the nWo style RKO symbol. |

I too am a fan of Cena, but even still, I can see a title change being a good thing. I'm salivating at the thought of his eventual heel turn. It'll be amazing whenever it happens.
|
Wow, I also love how Cena is up there THREE times in the top TEN.
 |
Does anybody have Hogan's numbers previous to those?
|
Don't get me wrong, unlike a lot of people here who flat out hate the guy, I quite like Cena.
I just wish they'd run with something other than the "Good-as-gold-overcome-the-odds-even-when-the're-stacked-so-heavily-against-him Superman" gimmick. Which I imagine is the same way a lot of people feel. So basically... John Cena the person I like. John Cena the wrestler I don't dislike. John Cena pulling a HHH and filling the Main Event for 3 years I don't like. |
I only watch wreslting again for the first time in a long time. So I don;t know what Hhh did before all that well. But maybe people are just mad about HHH still and not about Cena.
All I know is I like Cena since I start watching again I find his parts better than the other parts. |
I don't hate Cena, but he doesn't deserve anywhere near the dominant run he has been given. Nobody deserves that kind of a dominant run, not right now in the WWE anyway. Also, it would be one thing if he was massively over and everybody loved seeing him night in and night out. He is not massively over though. He is thoroughly resented by a large amount of the fan base to the point where he alone has a large part of the responsibility of the rating being at some of the lowest points ever. People are just sick of seeing him and they really need to do something about it.
|
Quote:
Also, I still wouldn't call it pulling a Triple H though, because I really don't think keeping the title on him is ever his own suggestion. The company's just ridiculously high on him, and he didn't even have to start a gay relationship with Shane or Hornswoggle. |

I didn't mean just like HHH cos obviously that had a lot to do with politics. I know it's not Cena's choice. I imagine he begs to change things up a little after hearing the thunderous boos from the majority of the crowd. I just compared them with regards to their position and length of time rather than the reasons that led to this. |
Quote:
:y: |
Word....that's another thing I wonder about, though. Do you guys think that Cena ever pushes to drop the belt? Or do you think he just rides the wave? I imagine you get paid better as the champ, right?
|
Quote:
I look back and think about wrestling greats such as Rick Rude and Curt Hennig who didn't even get a sniff of the title. Guys that could out promo and out wrestle Cena but never got the chance at The Big One. |
It human nature to want to be the best so I don't think he would but u never know.
|
Quote:
I'd guess that Cena has probably had a few meetings with Vince and "Creative" about his situation. I doubt he would have wanted to drop the title but I could imagine him wanting to tweak his character or even turn fully heel. |
I swear to God if Cena drops the title tonight I'm going to donate 50 bucks to St. Jude's Children's Reseach Hopsital.
|
I don't see the correlation there, but a nice gesture none the less.
|
Quote:
I'm sick of seeing Cena with the strap, and I'm sick of the spinner belt. No, there is no connection with St. Jude's Children's Resarch Hospital and Cena as champion. But if he drops the title tonight I'll be so thankful that I'll donate the cash. It doesn't have to be to Orton. It could be the greatest work-shoot ever and have Kennedy take the title somehow, or even the return of the greatest midget ever, Dink. |
Max Mini > Dink

and people say I am dum :?:

Quote:

Dink is Canadian.
|
Im still pondering whether or not to waste 45 bucks on watching Cena lose.
|
OMG, are they really 45 bucks now?
|
If he ever does lose it will they even bother changing the belt? Or will he fly back into the ring and retain after 1 night??
|
Quote:

$39 American...
|
Yeah, It;s 39.99 plus tax.

Oh, right on...I was thinking there was no way they raised prices again. I remember back when In Your House was only 15 bucks. 2 hours, but 15 bucks.

nah dude
lol i thought hhh would've been at least 3rd |
God I hope Cena's not in line for a 7+ year Sammartino reign :o
Otherwise I'll just consider IC champ to be the champion of the company since the WWE Title is frozen |
I think the reason Cena is still champion is because WWE have no idea what else to do with him. He only works as a champion, and if not that then title challenger.
The WWE have failed to build decent heel main eventers with the exception of Edge and Randy Orton. They do have a hell of a lot of upper mid carders, but none of them have been given the right program to move up to the main event. The fact that Cena had two feuds with babyfaces this year should show how lacking Raw is in main event heels. |

The sad thing is, you'll just have to explain this again in three weeks. |

I will go out on a limb here and say, that Triple H's reign of terror was far better than Cena's. For two reasons; 1) He lost the title more often. Cena has had the title, what, once in the last two years or so? He's only been without the belt three months or so of the past two years. Triple H lost it more often, and then would regain it which at least left a little unpredictability in the matches and storylines. 2) The crowd began to resent Triple H, but NOWHERE near the mass resentment that Cena has gotten. I would venture to guess that Cena is one of, if not the most hated champions of all time.

cena > bret ?discuss

Quote:
So basically with the Cena's superman push, and Batista being constantly #1 contender for 5 months, they have basically cemented Cena as the only credible person on the entire roster. |
Quote:
Triple H was a heel. The argument was "He's SUPPOSED to get booed, dumbass! He's SUPPOSED to tank the ratings." And to be honest, the IWC is so fucking retarded that if John Cena were to insult the IWC, 80% of the wankers on here would fawn over Cena the way they fawn over Trips. |
Quote:
|
Quote:
I still cheer him these days more than rest of the roster, and he doesn't even win matches anymore. Seriously, wtf? Only muscular, giant monster we actually like, and he never gets anywhere...it's like WWE takes lessons from the Andy Kaufman handbook when dealing with fans. |
Quote:
|
But at the same time, we're talking about something that is apparent with only one of the two.
Heels should be resented, but the point remains, you can't tell if people are "resenting" a heel or want him off TV. Well, you can, but not by boos. A face getting booed is obviously not doing his job. A heel getting booed could very well be doing his job. In Trips' case, he hurt ratings by being on TV, and probably will again once the injury return is over. Cena, at least, has an excuse for being on top in low ratings. Now, his QHs may tank like Trips have in the past, but I don't have that information. However, the fact is, Trips was losing ratings back when the show was pulling in twice as many people as the show does now. Cena's on top in a lackluster show, and can't solely be blamed for the ratings. Cena might even look good if he had the equivalent of the Rock, Austin, a slightly less crippled Undertaker, etc. |

Quote:
But if Cena were around, say 7-10 years ago there would be no Rock, Austin, Taker, or anybody else. Not the same hated/resented Cena there is today. Either Cena would be sharing the main event with those people, or Cena would be mowing them down and dominating just as he is now. So The Rock or Austin continually jobbing to Cena wouldn't be the same Rock or Austin that we actually experienced, and it would have been the same then as it is now. It would just be A LOT better if at least one person looked to be his equal and could take the belt away for an extended period of time. They almost built Orton up as this person, but then have him win via DQ because Cena was beating him to mercilessly in the corner :| |
Quote:
Ummm...no. We don't like having stuff forced down our throats...even if at one point we liked it. We didn't like having to watch HHH dominate Raw for 2 years, dominate over every opponent till no one seemed a threat, and not leave the main event scene till an injury took him out. He was forced upon us every week, even though fan opinion was we didn't want him. The same goes for Cena now...he rose to the top at one point because he had a very entertaining character, but it grew stale...and when we started to boo to show we wanted something new...we were ignored as they just forced Cena to the top, gave him the more modern day Hogan gimmick, and...forced him down our throats. I still argue if the man had been turned heel when he was getting stale, and maybe even now in our rejuvination of hatred...we might like him again. But as long as WWE pushes him as the good guy while it's obvious we want someone new...we are going to boo, mock, and dislike him. |
