John Cena: Like or Hate

In the beginning it seemed everyone loved Cena. Now time has passed and people have begun to hate him. But no matter how much Cena bashing I hear on these forums their is always one or two guys that still back Cena up.

So here is the question...

Do you like or hate Cena?

Xero 09-26-2007 09:53 PM

I like and support Cena himself. I honestly believe he could have led the Attitude Era just as well as Austin and Rock did.

What I hate is the way he's booked. Creative is a bunch of spineless monkeys writing for Vince's pleasure and don't know how to book anyone strongly without having him completely dominate and almost never lose.

IC Champion 09-26-2007 09:53 PM

I like, no, LOVE him.

FourFifty 09-26-2007 10:00 PM

The person, the wrestler, or the push?

As a person I have a world of respect for him. After hearing about how he talked to a fan who held a "If Cena Wins We Riot" sign and how Cena was a good sport about it, he's gold in my eyes.
As a wrestler, he's better than Hogan, but he has the Five Moves Of Doom thing going on like Bret Hart had, only not as cool.
His push is what annoys me. The superman push for a year is fucking stupid. No one today should have that kind of push.

Exyle 09-26-2007 10:20 PM

I choose option three. No strong opinion either way.

mrslackalack 09-26-2007 10:22 PM

Seems like a good person, but I hate the way he is booked, especially the 5 million overcome the odds storylines. He doesnt have the best matches but can pull off a great match with the right person like the 55 min match with HBK on RAW and some of his matches with Angle.

mrslackalack 09-26-2007 10:23 PM

I choose option 3 as well.

CSL 09-26-2007 10:26 PM

The only thing I really have against him is his weak-as-piss-looking offence. I don't particularly like how he's booked sometimes but that's nothing to do with the guy himself. He seems like the model pro and a classy guy. Wrestling could do with more John Cena types.

CYCLOPTERSAURUS 09-26-2007 10:36 PM

I hate him in the ring and on the mic, and I hate his ridiculous push even more.

YOUR Hero 09-26-2007 10:53 PM

YOUR Hero likes him.

What he said.

Cena's got all the skills. We saw that he could go places. We all loved him because his heelish face was awesome, his freestyles got him over, and he was solid, if nothing amazing in the ring.

I love Cena the "person."

Then they changed him to a kissass, boring babyface, and then turned him into a superman.

I dislike Cena the "wrestler."

And cramming him down our throats? When he's being booed by half the crowd? When the ratings are tanking? This last week, they dropped below three again. This is bad.

I fucking despise Cena, the "push."

Vastardikai 09-26-2007 11:05 PM

I chose "Hate" only because I didn't see "I don't give a shit about him."

Jura 09-26-2007 11:43 PM

Like I said in the past, he's okay just as long as he doesn't try to be funny.

YOUR Hero 09-26-2007 11:47 PM

I believe without Cena, the ratings would be even worse off.

Devil's Advocate, or one born every minute? You decide.

chrisat928 09-27-2007 01:25 AM

I choose "like" because he's better than Batista and Khali, but his superman push is ridiculous, and he'd be much better in a dominating heel role, instead of a underdog face.

SammyG 09-27-2007 03:54 AM

I like him.

HeartBreakMan2k 09-27-2007 06:06 AM

I like him as a worker, and love him as a person. The guy loves his job, and it shows. He's a phenominal face for the company and everything I've ever seen he goes above and beyond for the fans and people in general.

The magnitude of his push and blandness of his character (both issues with the writing staff) however, I'm not a huge fan of though it could be worse.

Dave Youell 09-27-2007 08:31 AM

Cena has improved a lot over the years.

Personally I think the booking of this angle with Orton is great as he’s going down more of a psycho route where he doesn’t care about authority, but it’s justified, he attacked Coach because of what he allowed to happen to his Father, he did it with the knowledge he would lose the title and just went with his emotions.

I know it’s re-hashing Austin/McMahon again, but he’s an ok actor and I’m digging this feud, Orton is playing the perfect prick to Cena’s hero right now.

What ruined him in the eyes of the smarks was the poop jokes, it’s the same thing that could happen to HHH if he keeps going down the same route, that’s not his fault. But to be fair, He stopped being comedy Cena a few months back, probably from the Lashley feud onwards

As for his matches, by no means classic and his selling at times is questionable, he’s more than capable of giving us passable matches each night, he’s never going to be having 5 star classics all the time, but to be fair, not many of the guys they pic to be champion, can or do. It’s more about the drawing power, pure wrestlers don’t draw and getting the mix is hard.

Angle had it, Bret Had it, but neither of them were as big a draw as Cena IMO, the guys who are considered to be in the same overall bracket are guys like Rocky, now are the time everyone was saying what a shit wrestler he was, because he had 5 moves of doom and that’s it, but he did alright for himself in the end.

Kane Knight 09-27-2007 09:03 AM

Way to oversimplify, Youell.

Cuzziebro 09-27-2007 09:03 AM

I hate to say this but I like him. There I said.

I'm complacent with Cena and his push.

Theo Dious 09-27-2007 01:08 PM

I like John Cena. I hate his push and his title reign.

BigDaddyCool 09-27-2007 01:16 PM

He is entertaining. I sorta like him, but yeah. I'm not a fan.

Slow 09-27-2007 03:49 PM

Can't stand Cena, having beat Edge in a tlc match, Benoit in a submission match, and beating Jericho in his last match. I still blame him for Benoit.

I quite like the fact most people seem to be liking him now though, it should mean wwe will take the title off him if the IWC like him!

So basically you hate him because of his booking?

I do too, but I still think he's a great talent and can be a great asset if booked properly, like 80% of the roster.

Kane Knight 09-27-2007 03:59 PM

I hate slow.

Xero 09-27-2007 04:05 PM

Don't hate him because he's slow.

Xero 09-27-2007 04:06 PM

I think that's racist.

Speak for yourself. We both grew up on the mean Streets of West Newbury.

Yeah, who knew doing the job in one match would lead to several years' worth of brain damage and alleged substance abuse?

Crossrine 09-27-2007 07:32 PM

I hate Cena "wrestler" because he could honestly be so much more. I mean for fuck's sake for a man that ripped he should be able to do more than 5 moves. I hate his booking like everyone else here because I dont believe superman could hold the title this long. As a person I somewhat respect him for not being an ass to both his haters and his fans.

Indifferent Clox 09-27-2007 07:50 PM

He's okay.

Kane Knight 09-27-2007 08:01 PM

Anyway, I voted hate because there are only two options. I'm assuming we're talking about on Screen Cena.

Kane Knight 09-27-2007 08:02 PM

And on Screena, I'd like to see job to a steamroller.

Avenger 09-27-2007 09:29 PM

I like him.

Skippord 09-28-2007 02:29 AM

I like him as a person
Hate His Push
Hate His Character

I know.

Anyway, my point being that if you were top dog of the show when it came to submission matches, and proper wrestling was your passion, then you're made to job to the stfu, used by a guy who wore a padlock chain round his neck and can't wrestle, its gonna fuck you up a bit.

GD 09-28-2007 04:25 AM

Like him.

Lux 09-28-2007 08:33 AM

Don't hate the guy but mother fucker i want tp see two new faces in the main event, not cena's and another guys anymore GOD

Lux 09-28-2007 08:33 AM

PISSING ME OFF

Dave Youell 09-28-2007 08:38 AM

So based on this, everyone seems to like the human but not the way the human is being used. Shockingly then the problem isn’t Cena, but it’s creative. I’m stunned

Lux 09-28-2007 08:43 AM

Well maybe if he spoke up to the creative team... so in a way i hate him for not speaking up :shifty:

‘Hey guys, I know right now I’ve been on the push of a lifetime and I’m making more money than all the mid carders combined, plus I’ve been champ for longer than anyone in the past 20 years, but some folks on the net are not happy with me, can you take the title off me please’

If you're fucked up by a fake result on a fake show, you really should kill yourself. And probably any offspring you have, so you don't spread your pathetic genes. And anyone you've ever fucked, because your sperm may have corrupted them. Benoit didn't go far enough, if that was the case.

In fact, if you believe this, you should probably do the same.
