NHL 2007-2008 Season Thread

Yeah so seeing as the season started (with Kings vs. Ducks in London), here we are. So make your predictions, etc..

Skippord 09-30-2007 03:07 AM

Avs will win the Northwest

SammyG 09-30-2007 03:11 AM

YEAH KINGS WHOOPED THE DUCKS. FUCK THE DUCKS.

weather vane 09-30-2007 04:15 AM

Who the fuck dropped Kopitar in the TPWW pool?

YOUR Hero 09-30-2007 12:58 PM

colour yourself lucky, Spilly.

Y2Ant 10-01-2007 12:01 PM

Ducks > Kings

kthx

Y2Ant 10-01-2007 12:03 PM

I so wanted to go watch those games :'(

Anyway, I predict that the Ducks will lose in the Western Final to either the Sharks or the Flames or the Wings. As for the East I see the Penguins and the Rangers in the final. I'd like to see Pittsburgh win it if the Ducks don't.

MVP 10-01-2007 11:56 PM

The Atlantic and Northeast divisions are gonna dominate the Southeast division all season.

Blitz 10-02-2007 04:57 PM

I'm worried. The Leafs have not looked good in the pre-season, and Toskala has been, to put it gently, shaky. I'd start Raycroft opening night. Got a feeling he's gonna have a good year.

By all rights, we should make the playoffs this year. And who knows how Bell will fit in once he gets back. Anyways, go Leafs.

*prays*

Hahaha.....that's for having faith in the Leafs.

MVP 10-02-2007 07:36 PM

I have no idea what to expect from the Bruins this year. I said last year that they were gonna have a much better season than 05-06, and it was only mildly better, if that. So I'm gonna go into this season with fewer expectations and hope that they surprise everyone.

Stickman 10-02-2007 07:48 PM

I've learned following the Canucks that there is no reason to think they're going all the way but with #1 in goal, Morrison and Naslund in contract years, the sky is the limit.

Stickman 10-05-2007 01:38 PM

Hey Blitz, don't worry, the leafs have 80 games to get back on track.

Splaya 10-05-2007 04:56 PM

HAHA

Supreme Olajuwon 10-06-2007 01:11 AM

Columbus 4
Anaheim 0

I'm willing to bet the Ducks would like to have Selanne and Niedermayer back.

Blitz 10-06-2007 01:47 AM

If the Leafs lose tomorrow, I'm changing the avatar, as it must be jinxing them.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, they were surely tired from the long road trip.

MVP 10-07-2007 03:16 PM

I hope Patrice Bergeron gets 90+ points this year.

Blitz 10-08-2007 02:05 PM

Jason Blake diagnosed with Leukemia :(

It's a treatable form, but still..... :(

Blitz 10-10-2007 08:52 AM

God. Look, I'm a Maple Leafs fan. But we fucking suck right now. I mean, really suck. Bryan McCabe got checked by the fucking net last night, for Christ's sake.

But I will stand by my team. Leafs :(

YOUR Hero 10-10-2007 11:10 AM

Carey Price is going to start for Montreal tonight. Guy's been a winner where ever he's gone. Young guy, hope he does well for the Habs.

Stickman 10-10-2007 01:10 PM

Canucks host Philly tonight for the first time in what, 6 years. Way to go NHL, you're schedule is AWESOME

weather vane 10-10-2007 03:39 PM

lol leafs

YOUR Hero 10-11-2007 10:54 AM

Canucks got raped by the Flyers

Carey Price beat the Pens.

Blitz 10-11-2007 11:02 PM

As soon as I change the avy/custom title, the Leafs get a huge win.

Fuck, I oughta put on a Sens avatar.

weather vane 10-12-2007 12:42 AM

Just keep Toskala out of the net and you should be ok.

Blitz 10-12-2007 03:21 AM

Another Flyer fucks up.

MVP 10-13-2007 01:34 AM

Nice breakout game for Phil Kessel, hat trick

weather vane 10-13-2007 05:00 AM

Fuck Manny Fernandez is shit. I am really liking the look of our offence this year though.

I have a good feeling as long as we don't play Manny too much or he somehow gets good.

Blitz 10-16-2007 03:16 AM

I'd just like to announce that I want to kick Bryan McCabe in the balls roughly 378603 times with a titanium toed boot.

MVP 10-16-2007 04:15 PM

McCabe is horribly overrated in defensive skills, and he's a wicked dink.

It's not his fault he was offered $7M a year when he's actually in the 3.5M range. He's no superstar but somebody was retarded enough to pay him that.

weather vane 10-21-2007 07:10 PM

also what trade Hero?

YOUR Hero 10-21-2007 07:46 PM

I canceled it. Had Brodeur and Seabrook going to you for Biron and ?Beachemain?.. anyway, I canceled it as Brodeur is a god.

Canucks are pretty bad too, I can admit that. Obviously I want them to do well, but the rest of canada is absolutely sick of the leafs been shoved down our throats at all times especially now when they are brutal. God forbid they actually do anything in the playoffs, it'd be declared a national holiday.

Pascal Leclaire is a freak of nature right now. Sure as hell didn't see that coming.

YOUR Hero 10-31-2007 11:08 AM

NAh he's always been a high prospect, just needs a good team in front of him. Plus he seems injury prone last 1-2 years so people sort of forget about him.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-31-2007 10:17 PM

I'm so glad Columbus made that star logo their main one. The CBJ one was so ugly and generic. Plus the hockey stick in the logo was neon yellow. There's no place for that in the NHL.

Bazooka 10-31-2007 11:34 PM

damn NJ Devils shut out TB Lightning 6-1. A win for the home team, something they have needed - too bad lightning were the recipients.

RoXer 11-01-2007 04:16 AM

How is 6-1 a shut out?

Stickman 11-05-2007 07:27 PM

Gotta be honest, I really hope Drury and Brierre get raped by rabid gorrilas.

weather vane 11-14-2007 02:44 AM

We are still hanging onto that playoff spot. I think we have a somewhat tight grip on it even with all of our injuries.

Bergeron, Fernandez, Ference, Ward, Thornton... not good

Fernandez has been cleared to practice so he will be good to go soon. Bergeron isn't going to play until AT LEAST the new year. We really need to trade Murray, he is really struggling. I hear Hossa is on the market and with Savard here it could be a possibilty. I have heard some rumblings about it anyways.

Dude no one but like Ottawa in the East has a tight grip on anything. Boston is a few game losing streak away from 13th, that being said they are also a winning streak away from 4th. So point is tight grips in the east don' exist heh unless thy name is Ottawa and maybe Carolina.

weather vane 11-14-2007 06:07 PM

Nah we have a tight grip. We play Toronto twice in three games. That is 4 points right there and if we can get a point from Montreal then we are all gravy.

Blitz 11-15-2007 12:06 AM

lol Jiri Tlusty.

Fignuts 11-15-2007 12:08 AM

Who was the moron who said losing Briere and drury wasn't a big deal for the sabres.

GOOD CALL

Zen v.W.o. 11-15-2007 12:45 AM

Ryan Miller kinda sucks this season too, though.

weather vane 11-15-2007 02:03 AM

Guys you also have to realize that it's November and all this doesn't really mean all that much. Any team can turn on the jets after the All Star break and make the playoffs.

Sure but if Toronto decides to actually play decent hockey again, it's a toss up. Being 4 points up on 13th is not a tight grip, regardless of who you are playing next especially since that team is right there with you.

weather vane 11-15-2007 09:44 PM

Yes it is somewhat of a tight grip.

weather vane 11-16-2007 05:07 AM

Nobody has done predictions yet huh? We should do some...

EAST

1. Carolina Hurricanes *
2. Ottawa Senators *
3. New York Rangers *
4. Philadelphia Flyers
5. New Jersey Devils
6. Boston Bruins
7. Pittsburgh Penguins
8. Montreal Canadiens

WEST

1. Detroit Red Wings *
2. Anaheim Ducks *
3. Colorado Avalanche *
4. San Jose Sharks
5. Minnesota Wild
6. Vancouver Canucks
7. Calgary Flames
8. Chicago Blackhawks

Zen v.W.o. 11-16-2007 05:38 PM

How can you pick Boston ahead of Montreal??? It's not possible when you factor in the Habs taking 16 points from their 8 games with the B's.

weather vane 11-16-2007 05:50 PM

Tomorrow night... BRUINS WIN

Zen v.W.o. 11-18-2007 12:14 AM

Absolutely. It's amazing how strange it is watching a great goalie play for Vancouver. Night and day difference.

YOUR Hero 12-05-2007 11:02 AM

Pens waived Recchi. Recchi helped Crosby mature last year, but late last year and this year so far he's really lost his touch. Doesn't help that he's always a healthy scratch, but that's life in the NHL... Calgary is mildly interested in picking him up.

The Kings might trade Rob Blake, give him another chance on playing with a contender... back to the Avs???

Forsberg's ankle is doing well and he's once again considereing an NHL return. I don't see it hapening this year as he's had like 2 setbacks on his ankle already...

Stickman 12-07-2007 07:43 PM

Crosby in Vancouver tomorrow for the first time ever. Fuck you NHL Schedule, why can we not see him every year, WHY?

Y2Ant 12-07-2007 10:32 PM

He's a Trasher now. It's sad how much he has lost.

YOUR Hero 12-10-2007 11:26 AM

Hockey is all about confidence. If Recchi gets back his confidence, he could be an asset. Sure his talents have diminished, however I doubt he's lost it all. Atlanta has a lot of scoring talent, he'll help. Plus he'll add leadership. I like this move for him, I hope he rebounds.
