NHL trade dealine thread
since a ton of trades are going down now we might as well just use one thread.
Nedved and Jussi are goin to the oilers for second round pick and a goalie prospect |
Good idea.
Hmmmmm so far we have Kovalev to the Canadiens, Gonchar to the Bruins, Dempsey to the Kings, Jagr to the Rangers (I suppose that's recent enough to be fitted in here), Zhamnov to the Flyers, Burke to the Flyers, Kozlov to the Devils... No real big goalie trades yet (apart from the Burke deal), so it'll be interesting to see what happens there. |
Kolzig to the Avs perhaps????
Could happen. :shifty: |
Do you think Manny Fernandez will be dealt? I doubt it now that the Wilds playoff chances are all but dead.
|
wouldn't shock me to see the avs pick up fernandez
|
Oh yeah, forgot to add the Lang deal to that list.
Anyways, I think the Avs are definitely going to get another goalie. Fernandez would make more sense than Kolzig though, since they'd likely wanna get a backup, instead of a starter, and they wouldn't wanna pay top dollar for someone like Kolzig for that role. |
I don't think Manny will be traded anymore, earlier in the year it looked like the Wild were going to need another offensive threat going into the playoffs, but since that doesn't look likely I assume they will keep Fernandez and start working for next year.

LEETCH TO THE LEAFS
|
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=74803
Maple Leafs acquire Brian Leetch TSN.ca Staff 3/3/2004 The New York Rangers have parted ways with one of the franchise's most celebrated players, trading veteran defenceman Brian Leetch to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Maxim Kondratiev, Jarkko Immonen and draft picks, pending a trade call with the NHL, TSN has learned. Leetch spent all 16 seasons of his NHL career in New York, with more than 1,100 games played with the Blueshirts. A two-time Norris Trophy winner as the league's top defenceman, Leetch was remembered most for his performance in the 1994 Stanley Cup playoffs when he led all skaters with 11 goals and 23 assists in 23 playoff games. He was named the 1994 Conn Smythe Trophy winner as Most Valuable Player in the postseason after helping lead the Rangers to their first Stanley Cup since 1940. Leetch, 36, has another year on his contract at $6.4 million US. More to follow. |
shit whatttttttttttt
|
Whoa
|
Looks like the Rangers are salary and age dumping
And I thought Petr Nedved coming to the Oilers was big enough today - but Leetch becoming a Leaf? That's news. I am still wondering why the Oilers would sign him? What's the story on Nedved, is he good? I too hope the Avs get another goalie - want to see the Cup being carried by Sakic again :D |
Good Lord - Leetch is on the LEAFS?!?!??! :nono:
|
all these trades should have waited till march 9th, woulda been one hot day

Sather is out of his fu</>cking mind. You don't trade a career-long Ranger for two prospects when he's the best D-man you have right now. |

Plus all your Naslund's and Bertuzzi's will be in Blue and White when the Canucks cant afford them. And in all seriousness the Leafs have some guys on The Rock and with the big club who are decent enough prospects. The rest can be bought, because as Ted Dibiase taught us, everybody's got a price. Only scary thing for the Leafs is where do they go with their Goaltending. If Eddie leaves after this year we could be in some trouble. |

Score one up for the good guys! |
I think Tellqvist is gonna be their number one guy some day, but they need a top tier goalie on their team until he's ready.
|
I thought maybe Vancouver would re acquire Nedved. Quack quack
|
Leetch was the Rangers, and I heard that he wanted to stay in NY. But I guess this way he's gonna get to see the playoffs for the first time in years.

Brian Leetch on the Leafs. bout time we get a veteran defenceman. If only it was the Leetch from like 10 years ago

NYLANDER

Watch the Pen's trade Morozov for like 4 players that they'll never used.
|
Hahahah Turek on waivers

The east is totally Stacked now. All of the contenders have made moves except for the NYI, who are expected to land Witt.
Ottawa: Bondra Toronto: Leetch Boston: Gonchar and Nylander New Jersey: Kozlov Montreal: Kovalev Philly: Zhamnov, Burke + Lightning: Sydor + maybe Prospal |
Canadiens get Dowd... meh at least they got a right-handed center like Gainey wanted.
|
Jim Dowd was traded? For who?!?
|
4th round pick

Leetch will head back to NYR when the season ends. He's a UFA at the end of the season. |
nah he's got another year on his contract Heyman he's there next year forsure.

I caught the 3rd period, Leetch had a pretty good game.
Scapinello, my hometown hero took a puck to the head. :p |
3 assists. hey heyman, you what was my fav moment?
when cloutier let in a shitty goal. so that would make my fav moment change after every canuck game. |
St. Louis get Mike Sillinger from Coyotes for Brent Johnson... not a huge deal, but Phoenix got a good goaltender out of it.
|
Rupp and a 2nd for Jan Hrdina
oh and Gonch scored last night and Nylander assisted  |
Corson was booted off the team. Bad influence.
|
Chris Simon was traded to Calgary. "It is the latest in a flurry of trades by the Rangers, who received backup goaltender Jamie McLennan, center Blair Betts and minor league right wing Greg Moore from Calgary and also sent the Flames a seventh-round pick in 2004."
The Rangers had better sign Simon when the season is over. |
Gonch scores again
 |
Blair Betts was a huge goal scorer in the WHL. He had some knee problems even in the WHL and some early in his NHL carreer. If he can ever get his shit together and even put up a third of the #'s he did in juniors he'll do well.
The only problem I really see is I have to hate him now. |
I'm not sure what message the Rangers are trying to send to Blackburn. They get rid of Jussi, then bring in McLennan. McLennan is an upgrade, but that's not the point.
|
Blackburn "expects" to return in time for training camp next season, but that's just an estimate.
|
Malakhov to Philly.
|
Carter to LA for Aulin
|
Anson Carter?
|
no, Joe Carter, hero
|
Well Carter is a pretty common name, and it's not like he's a huge blockbuster player, so it's not crazy for him to ask for confirmation.
|
Holy shit, Anson Carter gets traded a lot
|
Joe Carter can skate?
|
Barnaby to the Avalanche
|
V. Bure to Dallas :-*

I hear the San Jose Sharks are trading John Vanbiesbrouck to the Nashville Predators for Eric Lindros and half a meatball sub. Can anyone confirm this?
|
Ron Francis to the leafs for a fourth round pick :| who's butt fu</>cking ferguson over there...
|
if you add all the leafs ages together they're older then your hero now :(
|
is Gratton gonna be any good in Colorado (fantasy wise)
|
same Q with Francis/Toronto
|
Gratton in Colorado we'll be good on fantasy and Francis will probably be about the same. He'll probably lose a little playing time though.

What, not a mention that the Avs got a backup goalie or anything? Oh wait, that's my apathy for Salo leaving...:D
It was active until today but wow, the Rangers of old will no longer be. I'd hate to have season tickets for that team now. I'd pay a tenth of that ticket and still see the same quality team playing in the minors. Good for the Canucks to get some forewards, great for the Leafs to grab some players. The Avs have Aeb-Salo. And LA gets Carter. Still getting my head around Nedved being here though... |
Francis, Kilger and Johansson! I smell a stanley cup!
