for some odd reason, i see this game being the one that MIGHT be the sleeper of the year and blows a lot of the current games out of the water.

Then again, im a mario mark so i could be horrifically wrong.

I'm amazed there's been no real promotion for it.

Anyone played the game in stores yet? A lot of the Kiosks apparently use the full game, and not just a demo.

I haven't really been paying attention to this game, and have only seen like a handful of screenshots. The ones that I saw gave me the impression that the game was too dark. Not dark as an like "deep" or anything, but literally dark. With all that outer space everywhere. Mario games should be bright and stuff.

I played and beat New Super Mario Bros on the DS though and that game is amazing. Platform games <3

Sunshine I hated at first and just stopped playing after the 1st level. Then picked it back up again two years ago and loved it. and beat it

it really is. Once you get the hang of it and just accept it's difference from past Mario games, it's awesome. I couldn't stop playing the last time

I remember how gratifying it was to finally find the last of those 240 blue coins. Good times.

Sunshine is fucking disappointing IMO. After facing Bowser multiple times in SM64, you face him once in Sunshine. I don't remember any of the other boss battles at all.

Galaxy makes me want a Wii too btw. I won't get one though.

If you have a Wii you have got to get this game surely.

Plus I’ve got my 3 year old to become a mark for Mario, so I know when I get it, I can play on it and he will think he’s just watching a cartoon. Ahh children are so naïve, it’s great!

Every review I’ve read basically saying this is better than sunshine and on a par with 64 and although the fact you use that blue thing to collect star shards is annoying at first you get used to it.

I don't think I can get this until maybe Christmas. It's a little difficult not picking this up considering all amazing reviews it's getting.

I think I beat Mario 64 three times through. I never got enough.

DYea, me and my friend tried it out for a few minutes. It's somewhat weird, but in a good way. If you walk off a wall, you'll fall onto another side and the camera switches to show a whole new platform.

Still, I'll probably wait till the popularity dies down then buy it.

Thought this came out next month.

What the fuck is Ghost Squad anyways. I've seen ads, and it looks like some poor budget version of GRAW.

Mostly, Guitar Hero 3 + Geetar and Ace Combat 6 + Flight Stick. Shit adds up.

It's an arcade shooter which has been out for a few years. Think Light Gun game.

I saw some Cubes at EB for about 50 bucks. It'll only be a matter of time.

When is the zapper due out?

Don't know on your side of the pond, but the Zapper attachment and the Ghost Squad game come out same day over hear, the 20th or something.

So since it's 20 for the zapper and 30 for GS, it's the same price as a complete game if you buy both. PLus you get that gay little crossbow training pack in.

11/19 for the crosbow game, 11/20 for GS.

For Europe, it's 07/12, and Fourth Quarter for GS.

Piked Up Galaxy. Probably won't play til later, though.

So think it was mentioned earlier in thread but to lazy. Toys R Us got the 25 dollar gift card with the game. Plan to buy a few copies, get the gift cards, buy some more and just flip em on ebay.

So yeah brought some mates with me to help with my plan. They weren't selling copies, only distributing pre-sales. The people who work there looked retarded though, so I left happy either way.

I bought it and it's pretty sweet.. It's kinda like 64 on gameplay alone, but each board is a galaxy.. Like you still have to do the little missions, to get stars, but you have to go from planet to planet.. The bad guys are pretty similar and it has the classic Mario "look" but it's just different.. Hard to explain.. It's def fun and I'm sure I'll get used to the "newness" of it..

Oh yeah, and what was the update my Wii had to do before I played it??

p.s. the graphics are freakin sweet..

KK, is that game (with the Zapper) worth getting?? I've been looking forward to the Zapper, but is the game good?? Is it gonna be compatible with games like Call of Duty/Medal of Honor?? Metroid??

Also, GS is a very fun game. It's short, though there are branching paths and playing out each path will take longer, but it's an arcade shooter and definitely not worth a full 50. Thankfully, for thirty bucks, I think it's worth a pick up. The Zapper comes separate though (Except in Japan, evidently), packed in with Link's Crossbow training. You can get it alone, but if you do, it costs the same as with Crossbow training ( :wtf: ).

I can honestly say I don't know about compatability with previous titles. The Zapper module is basically just a case you snap the Wiimote et Nunchuck into, but the way you hold the Zapper kind of makes the A, +/- buttons and D-Pad less accessible. So technically, it would work, but not necessarily if the game is heavy on the top buttons being used. At least, it looks it. I don't know for sure yet.

According to the Nintendo mag I get, the zapper will work with the new medal of honour game coming out and Umbrella Cronicles, guess it wouldn’t work that well with Metroid though, as you have to flick the numbchuck itself.

And I’ve heard they will bring out shooters on the VC, duck hunt baby!

This guy reviews the game much better than I did but that's prolly because it's his job..

They've been rumoring Duck Hunt since the Wii came out.

However, if you look at the ESRB site, there's proof that it'll be coming out (They had it rated for the Wii).

The one thing I'll say that he touched upon, and I really want to underscore is that yes, this is one of the best games for utilising the Wiimote functions. It feels organic, instead of forced.

I'm loving this right now.

My 360 got the 3 red lights, so I bought this to tie my over until I get it back. It's awesome. :drool: So much like 64 but with a planet you run around on. I came right here after I turned it off, and I swear the screen looked like a sphere and it was turning when I was scrolling down. You should try it, great eye trick.

This game moves pretty fast.. Like, I've put prolly four hours into it and already opened like atleast 10 galaxies..

It is a sweet game..

Well, the review on IGN says the quest to the minimum number of stars to finish the game is pretty easy. Getting to 120 is the real challenge.

Then getting the secret at the 120 stars, and having to redo it all over again to get the 121 star in the secret galaxy will take some time.

As long as none of the stars require you to collect 100 coins in each level, it shouldn't be that bad.

Can anyone confirm or deny the 100 coin star? It seems outlandish to ask you to get 100 coins this time around. Has anyone reached 100 yet?

I've "beaten" galaxies and that wasn't one of the stars.. You do have to find 5 star pieces like the blue coins though..

50 Star Bits = 1UP

Every 50 coins/star bits = 1up

I caved, went overdrawn, i don't care, totally worth it, only done a few hours worth, just beat that spider thing.

Quite impressed, it's not like OMFG amazing, so almost felt a little let down because of my own hype for it, but it's still a very very decent game

So I just beat it, only need like 60 stars to get to the final fight.


Now I'm gonna go back and get the other 181 stars to complete it 100%.

you have to get all 120 stars with luigi to open up the 121st star.

120 (mario) + 121 (luigi) = 241 stars - 60 (me) = 181 (left to get for 100%) :(:(:(:(

Towards the end of the game, you get a purple comet appearing in galaxies you have already visited. They let you do a "collect 100 purple coins" star.

I picked it up a few days ago, but finally got around to playing it last night. it's sooooo fun. The tutorial-ish level (levels?) was pretty blah, but it get really fun as you progress. Bee Mario is so damn cute.

I was worried it was too easy, but it's slowly getting harder.

The 2nd time you fight bowser is an aweosme level and the comets are a great idea to make the levels harder

and if Luigi gets lost one more time there will be murders!

This is probably one of the better buys I have made this year. Someone said earlier that it feels less forced with the control scheme and I would have to agree. Sometimes in Zelda to get the game to register a wiimote spin I would have to almost wrench my wrist out of my arm I was spinning so hard, on this game it is so much easier.

Mario 64 was too advanced for me.

I found the flying suit, can't actually see what the benefit is though.

Can't fly to any planets using it

and just started the planets in the garden

The more I play it the more I love it, i take back what I said earlier, quite possibly one of the best games I've ever played

I'm at 59 right now.

My only gripe is the gravity and the curvature of some planets are so infuriating sometimes :mad:
