Updated no-mercy coming for the wii?

That might be enough to make me buy a Wii.
|
If that happened, I think I'd stop playing anything else (besides Brawl).
|
They would have to change a lot more than the roster.
|
Yeah, I posted this in the "WTF happen to THQ and Wrestling games" thread, but this rumor deserves its own thread.
So far this is only a rumor, so I'm not getting my hopes up, but if it's true, holy shit. |
This would mean all new arenas too I would assume, and higher-rez textures.
They could probably get away with selling it as a cheap Wii game if they updated it enough. |

I was thinking of picking one up this weekend for Mario....if this is released then that will just further my happiness in picking one up....
|
i too would get a wii if this happens.
|
The only reason I could see this not happening is that it'll surely pull attention away from the neutered Smackdown vs Raw coming out.
|
Did they ever fix that lag issue with No Mercy?
|
What lag issue?
|
Back on the 64 whenever there were 4 people in the ring it would lag like a bitch.
|
Huh. I don't remember much lag. Maybe a spike here or there but it wasn't bad at all.
|
The tag team ladder match was a little slower than a normal one on one match, but that was to be expected on the N64 and it wasn't that slow anyway.
I seriously hope this is true. |
Oh yeah. That was really the only place where I noticed the lag. Otherwise it was okay.

Strangely I liked the lag. It would throw timing off in the 4 way and Tripple Threat matches, making it more interesting.
Honestly, I'm taking this as a rumor right now, but it would be awesome if it happen. Might even convince me to find one of those N64 to GC adapters. Also...online play would be awesome. |
I don't know, I'd much rather have the old roster than anything from today. They should update the game itself and leave the roster alone.

Seriously. But on the plus side, No Mercy was 100% editable. The only thing missing will be themes. Could be much worse. |
I bet they'll lock out editing appearances of the main wrestlers if they release it.
|
Not if they know what's good for them. Otherwise it will probably end up with very few sales.
|
Right, because that was the ONLY reason anyone EVER played. They changed their appearance like "Barbie: The Game"...

Also, I'll throw a markish tantrum if they do. But I disagree with DN's notion that it won't sell well without editable rosters. It may lose some sales, but I doubt many. |
Maybe they'll get rid of the glitch that got rid of all your shit randomly.

Don't ask...long day. |

No Mercy wasn't 100 % editable... Just appearances. You were stuck with the moves the gave you.
|
this would be pretty cool.

When they say updated roster…
Personally I would love it if they kept the old roster and added in the new talent and/or updated the old talent, that roster would be huge! I’m confused with how the licensing works for the new stuff though, I would assume something would have to be paid to Vince to make this happen, so I wouldn’t expect this to be very cheap. But if they overhauled the graphics, kept the game play and tweaked the roster slightly, £25 ($50) for this as a download would be acceptable to me |

Ahh well So with the current music themes, like Edge's for example does the WWE own the rights to use that theme in other media, such as games, or are royalties paid to alterbridge for the use of the track? I know with some older Smackdown Vs Raw games they didn’t have all of the tunes that Bands made Regardless of music, I’d still be happy just having it |
Alter Bridge owns the song. WWE robably have optioned the rights for use in other media (They seem to have done that a lot of late), but they'd still have to pay money for that. The plus side is if theydid it that way, they don't actually have to license it again, so Alter Bridge can't say "No, we don't want our song in this game." They would have signed a contract that means "as long as we pay you to use the song, we can use it."
Otherwise, they need a new, separate agreement. I wouldn't worry too much, though. It'll likely be a solid game. Sadly, as WiWare, it'll eat up a ton of your storage. |

I would expect/hope they release some sort of USB mass storage device soon. The only other option would be delete the VC games you hardly play and whenever you feel the urge you can just re-download them for free. |

You can delete and redownload stuff, but it's a hassle, and with an SD card, you still have to transfer things back to the Wii internal memory to use them. They actually cancelled their storage device plans, they announced that like six months ago. Instead, you get "Check Mii Out" and "the Hat Channel." All they really need to do is release the code to allow USB HDDs, but they'll probably drag their feet on that, even. |
How much space do VC games take up? N64 ROMs take about 25MB. Even doubled that shouldn't really dent an SD card, as long as it's at least a gig.

Also, since you can't actually PLAY VC games from an SD card....

Virtual Console is specifically ports from old systems. As such, they will be comparable in size to the original games. WiiWare includes the Channels you may have already downloaded, and will includetitles that may be wholly original or may not be, but they will be more varied in size. Hell, the Check Mii Out channel just took a chunk out of my system's remaining capacity. All the content so far released as WiiWare has been comparably larger, though, so count on it. Especially if you're looking at a graphic update of No Mercy (Which may not happen). And hey, for NM, it may make no difference. Though I will point out again that you can't play directly from a memory card (Which they could easily fix with an update, and would be all it takes for me to stop caring about an HDD...). |
For those interested, some Wii Ware details were posted on Kotaku today:
More WiiWare Details (File Size, Budgets, Etc) <!-- google_ad_section_start --> http://kotaku.com/assets/resources/2...iiwarelogo.jpg Interested in learning a bit more about WiiWare? Course you are. Keep reading. On the latest IGN Wii podcast, a load of details on how the system will work were revealed, adding to the collective body of WiiWare knowledge. Probably the most important are that game's have a size limit: 40MB. How that Final Fantasy game's coming in under that, we've not the foggiest. Apparently most budget sizes are under $100,000 (ie peanuts), prices are being set by developers and those devs can only release one game a month. Consider our interest piqued. 40 MB? While that could make things easier, it seems like it could be potentially crippling.
