So, is there a reason why we all hate Mysterio now?
I hear alot of negative stuff about Mysterio lately. Just wondering where it all came from. IMO, he's the best high flyer in the history of professional wrestling and probably in the top 5 when it comes to hard work and dedication to the business. This stemming from anything?
|
Probably the whole riding Eddie's Death's Coat-tails thing.
|
Well, I suppose but that was more the writers than Rey himself. Dunno, I actually liked his title run.
|
Under a prior name, did you use the phrase "MAKE IT or BREAK IT" a lot, and describe Rey as "New and Innovative?"
|
Hey, I still like Mysterio as well, but then again I don't watch Smackdown regularly anymore so nothing about anyone over there has gotten on my nerves.

I hate Rey because he sucks, he's old, and hes an average luchador at best. Plus he's like 150lbs.
|
I don't like him for riding Eddie's death. It may have been the writers' ideas, but he chose to go along with it. I can look past that, and focus on him only in the ring... which he hasn't done much for me lately. He was amazing as a luchador, considered the best in the world by a lot of people, but now he's just a high flyer. He's not bad by any means. he's probably better than 95% of WWE's roster in the ring. I just don't find him that entertaining anymore.
I'd say I still like him, but not nearly as much as him in WCW. |
I have no problems with Rey at all.
|
Not had any problems with Rey at all since he came back. Thought his match with Kennedy on SD this week was excellent and his match with Finlay the week before was even better.
|
He's Mexican
|
I've always hated him, starting from his WCW days.

But he's been boring for quite some time. He's not the entertainer he was in WCW, and I know that's pretty much the norm (Almost nobody's as good as they were in WWE), but still, he was a letdown. He can no doubt have some killer matches or whatever, but he's lost several steps from his WCW/ECW days. I did find it particularly distasteful the bit with riding Eddie, but whatever. That doesn't bother me about his title run so much as the fact that he was booked as a joke and a fluke. He looked like shit, the belt looked like shit, etc. |
mysterio is great to watch at times but his hi-flying is not unique (ultimo dragon etc).Riding eddie's corpse all the way to the heavyweight title is just unforgivable..and dont give me that"it was the writers..."Rey should have refused.

I still say they should've done that "Push Eddie's Casket To Mania" match to see who won the WHC title spot at Mania 22. Would've been so much better.
|
Dunno, always have enjoyed Mysterio and most likely always will. One of those characters that doesn't have a shelf life and can be carried on for quite the while. If Dominic gets into the business he could even success his father (the liklihood of that happening is probably low though). I just don't see how Mysterio is 'losing a step' like alot are saying. He's just as quick, just as agile, and just as fun to watch to me even after gaining all that muscle over the years. Yeah, the riding the Eddie's coat-tails was dragged out for a bit longer than it should have. I don't personally think it ruined the character though.

Tovo = new Rey fan.

Rey is the man. Fuck the haters.

I like Rey, and he's always been really good, but because of lack of exposure to other foreign wrestlers, most american wrestling fans think Rey is the greatest cruiserweight of all time. Far from it in fact. Like I said, I like him, and he IS good, but he's one of the most overrated wrestlers in the industry.
As for his title run, the eddie arguements are complete utter bullshit. You all say how disrespectful it is and whatnot, however, who the fuck are you? You didn't know edde, or what he would have wanted. Considering that his wife, nephew, and best friends all went along with it, seemingly without question, I'm going to assume its what he would have wanted. To be part of the show even in death. Then again I don't know. But neither do you. So it shouldn't be an issue. And anyone who thinks rey is better than Ultimo has never seen his work outside of wwe, or is certifiably retarded. |

That guy's gonna be pissed you used his bandwidth.

Also on the list of people being hated onby most people is Batista, Angle, Jeff Hardy, and entering the list; Ken Kennedy. :y: |
Ultimo Dragon should be named King Of The World
|
Then he'll fall flat on his face at the ceremony and be called a laughing stock.

LOL ULTIMO SLIPPED UP ONCE THAT'S NEVER HAPPENED TO ANYONE EVER.
I mean, seriously, that shit's pretty gaytarded. Ultimo slipped up. Rey Rey put himself on the DL. There's not even competition there. |

I don't know why I'm talking like that though, seeing as Rey was never actually champion. As for "why do we all hate Rey now," I've never cared for him. I don't really care about high-flying Mexican midgets (or high-flying Mexican full-sized people, or high-flying Japanese midgets or full-sized people, or Peruvian midgets or full-sized people either, for that matter.) The fact that he's ever been close to a main event scene is laughable and the fact that he is over with the common mark is thoroughly inexplicable to me. As for this... Quote:

So interesting. It's not disrespectful to fuck a corpse so long as you knew the corpse.
|
I believe people were pretty appauled at the angle as well KK, if I remember correctly.

I think its pretty easy to see why ppl are not liking Rey Mysterio.
The guy isnt what he used to be. He has like 50000 injuries and WWE are still pushing him like we all are suppose to care when in fact the only reason they do this is because a bunch of kids buy his masks. This guy has been around for AGES he was in the WCW before Vince bought it as we all know and WWE presents him like he was new to the scene back then and people get tired of seeing this one trick act get treated like he is amazing just because some little kids like to buy his masks! |
You realize that you're denouncing the exact reason Cena is still on top, right?
|
i want rey in the UFC ..lets see how well that flies.
|
Once he won the big belt that was too big for him I started to hate him.
|
I like old Rey Mysterio Jr. matches from WCW, ECW and Mexico. His work there was solid. It was new and innovative; even in WCW, which was filled with talented cruiserweights from all over the world, Mysterio stood out in a big way. The random Nitro matches they put on his recent DVD are just that; matches that were filler between NWO segments. But they were incredible, and Mysterio put them on over and over again, whether it was Nitro, Thunder, or Saturday Night.
He hasn't been quite as great since he came to the WWE. He was bigger, bulkier, wasn't as quick and agile. His best work has been with Kurt Angle and Eddie, with some excellent matches here and there during the Heyman booked SD!-era with those guys and others. His World Title run was grim to behold. As much as I loved seeing Mysterio, a guy I'd followed since WCW, win the big one at the biggest stage of them all, it was marred by the fact that they'd used Eddie Guerrero's death as part of the storyline. Even if Eddie would have wanted it that way, Vince McMahon should have realized that it was a cheap, and disrespectful way to go for his fans. Today Rey seems like a run-around VHS. Every match he hits the same spots, then he wins or he loses. It's nothing exciting. And those fucking contacts just bother me. |
