Okay, so what are some good PS3 exclusives?
 

I've got the cash to throw around, and a blu ray player would be nice (I have a HD DVD player, but there are exclusives on both sides). However, I own a 360, and most multiplatform games generally have the better versions on 360. You can argue that point if you want, but really, what's going to sell me on a PS3 is stuff I DON'T already have access to.

Problem is, I haven't been paying attention to the exclusives. Any that are worth the while? Keep in mind, I'm not going to be guying any FPS games. I just don't like them. Sorry, shooter fans, I'm not trying to insult you....

I hear a lot of the exclusives are pretty weak, and I know Sony's losing exclusives, but I keep hearing they've got some nice ones, too. Folklore looks interesting, but what else is there?

Final Fantasy XIII/Final Fantasy vs. XIII

If you're talking about games that are already out, the only ones that come to mind are motorstaorm, Ratchet and Clank, and Heavenly Sword. Although R & C is the only one among those which can hang with 360's top titles.

I will also be getting one soon, as I want a blu ray player, and there are enough games out now, and upcoming where I can now warrant purchasing one. Although I do like FPS games.

I hear Heavenly Sword's exceptionally short, otherwise I'd probably be all over that. R&C I hear nothing but good stuff aboot though.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune are both suppose to be pretty good. You can also get PAIN from the PSN which is really fun but not much content with it right now.

LittleBigPlanet is one to watch as well. It got pushed back but should still turn out pretty well...at least I hope. And Metal Gear Solid 4 will turn out worthy of the console itself. You might also Warhawk if you're going to play online. I'm not a fan of it but it seems to be liked amongst some. Another TPS but it mixes in air combat as well and that is by far the best part of the game.

Other than that there's not many exclusives that have done that well. Actually, there aren't many exclusives at all.

Ninja Gaiden isn't technicaly an exclusive.

Oh yeah, Uncharted was the one I was trying to remember. That shit looks HOT.

NG is a port of a game I already own. It has some new stuff, but it's not really an exclusive title. I think I've got enough stuff to make it worth my while.

Well. I was gonna mention Haze. But since you mentioned you ain't a big FPS fan, that goes out the window.

You might like Uncharted. I didn't care much about it when I downloaded the demo from the store.

On the multiplayer end, there's Warhawk. Pretty cool, but gets boring really fast. That might have gone away since the new expansion just got released.

Don't waste your money.

I'm digging uncharted so far. I'm thinking about grabbing Warhawk. The MP only element is kind of a turnoff, but at least online's free for PSN.

Also, I DL'ed the demo for Heavenly sword, and it looks like a less interesting N3. I like beat 'em ups, but this one just seems pointless.

How much of a difference is there with the blu-ray? Does it seem worth it?

I'll tell you the second I get a HDMI cable.

It's pretty amazing. Can't stand watching normal DVD's now. The HDMI hook up was worth the extra how ever much more it was.

I played some of Uncharted and just couldn't get into it. I ended up throwing on Tomb Raider Legend and having a much better time :D

I'm playing Ratchet and Clank right now and enjoying it.
I didn't dislike Heavenly sword, but it's really short, and I got the most fun out of shooting people with Kai.

If you like the series, downloading Tekken 5 DR wouldn't be a bad idea.
High Velocity Bowling is a fun party game... It uses the motion sensor, so it's a lot like wii bowling, but feels like it has more depth. For 10 bucks, it's a good buy.

Everyday shooter is a fun downloadable game too. Pretty cheap, nothing amazingly advanced, but fun.

There's some good looking games coming out this year though. The FF13 games have already been mentioned... Little Big Planet looks amazing IMO. Echochrome should be a fun puzzle game. MGS4 obviously. Infamous sounds like it could be really good too. The new Grand Turismo game if you're into that ( personally, I'm not.) The Agency could be interesting... It's a PS3 mmorpg done by the group that makes City of Heroes. Then again, it apparently mixes in FPS aspects, so might now be for you.

Anyway, you should get gamefly. I love it. It makes dealing with short games a lot more tolerable.

Yeah, I played the demo and wanted to shoot them. Of course, it's a LITTLE better now that I know how to counter effectively, but it's boring.

Hey Fignuts, HDMI-output makes the Blu-Ray look incredible. It's basically the exact same quality as my Toshiba HD-DVD player on my TV. It'd probably look even better if my TV wasn't cheap (Emerson model that I bought 6 months ago because the price was right), but I'm definitely happy. Especially since Warner is now backing Blu-Ray exclusively.

Yeah, Warner was the swing. With some HD DVD exclusives, they were helping Toshiba. But I think those are the only exclusive companies left.

I can understand why technological advancements may be appreciated, but saying someone is wrong because they're happy with what they have? It's a bit of a sheepish thing to do. They say jump, you say how high. We'll survive without HD or Blu-Ray.

A lot of the reason a lot of people were clinging to VHS in the early days was becaue they absolutely did not want to pay so much for something they did not need. Yes, DVD has almost completely replaced VHS, and the same will happen again, but people aren't wrong for not jumping straight through the hoops.

I'd go with Ratchet & Clank, KK. Loved those games on PS2, and while my only exposure to Tools of Destruction has been my friend's copy, everything seems to have evolved in appropriate ratio. Worth picking up, I'd say. :y:

I'm fine with that, as along with mgs4, R&K, Final Fantasy, The Agency, KK's endorsement of blu-ray, and the fact that firepro and king of colesseum has little chance of showing up on 360, makes me feel like buying a ps3 is a good investment for me at this point.

Which is probably bullshit, but it will remain exclusive for the time being at least.

That's how PS3 exclusive lists work, KK. :O If there's not enough out to warrant a solid list, then just list some games that aren't out yet / aren't actually exclusive / that I just made up.

As of the moment, PS3 has Ratchet & Clank, and Uncharted. I think that might be it. Everything else that's going to get listed is either a racing game, isn't out yet, or is an overhyped piece of shit (I'm looking at you, Heavenly Sword). I could be wrong, seeing as I'm not exactly a good representative for Sony right now, but if there was a good, long list of PS3 exclusives then I'd have already bought one.

I'm probably getting DMC 4 for the 360. Mostly because Sixxxaxis is teh ghey.

I'd buy HS just so I can whack it to that chick all day (yeah, I would. SO FUCKING WHAT?)!

I am a HUGE FF mark, so I'd go for it just for FF13 (to further THAT point, it was FF7 that swung me from wanting an N64 to a PSOne when i first played that game. AWESOME move!).

I'm thinking of getting a PS3, too, so I'm with you on this.

FFVII and FFXIII are very different beasts, and given the track record of recent Final Fantasies (shit, shit, shit expansion packs, shit sequels), I don't think it's quite too bright to buy a PS3 strictly for the blind hope that FFXIII won't be thirty gallons of mediocre.

good PS3 exclusives are a myth.

The only problem with FFXII I saw what that the dialog was a little convoluted, as in only the characters and SE were supposed to know what the fuck was going on at some points (and that may be just me not paying very close attention). It got a lot of things right (the no random encounters thing was a HIGHLY welcome change). There were certain things that made each FF game less than perfect (the Junction system in 8 was finicky and you have to keep track of EVERYTHING, FF9 had that dumb system that forced you to use a certain character for a certain job, FF10 was a little too linear, FF11 was threatened by massive gilsellers who wanted to fuck up the economy, though SE is trying to change that and is stepping up their game there, and you know my only beef with 12). 12 was a firm step in the right direction, though, and 13 could be a reason to get a PS3.

Only bad complaint about HS (as far as majority votes) I'm hearing is its length.

GT5 would be another one I would think could sell the PS3. They have gotten alot of things right in the series lately (sans that decision to not make GT4 online capable).

6 monthes after it's release it'll be on the 360 just like MSG3 was on the X-Box

To be honest, most of the time I'll take a hit to quality anyway. I'm thinking about getting Burnout Paradise, but I'll grab it for 360. I know it's one of the first games where the PS3 version's superior, but I hate the usual Burnout Soundtracks, and Custom Soundtracks is a real plus for me.

It's not exactly hard to see why it would be a different playing field this time around.

Thats assuming that they Actually push mgs to the brinks ofthe system, and this early in the console life I find that to be an-unlikely prospect.

It's not assuming it's pushed to the limits of the system, because the PS3 is vastly more powerful than the 360. It also has the convenience of not assuming that they'll dedicate a significant team to porting it.

But that aside...HOLY SHIT! DESTOR'S BACK!

Metal Gear Solid 3 was the only one I could actually get into long enough to beat it. Not only did I beat it, I thought I was going to cry at the end. Totally fucked up and awesome game.

MGS2 story was just waaaay too complicated, I didn’t know what the fuck was going on, was it all a training mission or what? Plus Raiden may possibly be the gayest character ever

MGS3 was back on track, but there was too much jungle for my liking and I hated the fact it was meant to be in the 60’s yet there were hover camera’s

MGS1 had a really good mix of decent indoor and outdoor zones and the story, although far fetched, was the easiest to get into

I've got to admit: MGS was the only one I played all the way through. I loved it. Got the different endings and still kept going back and playing.

MGS 2 was something my brother bought and I played a bit of it, but mostly, I got bored with it. When we were home on vacation (Spring break, I think), I watched him beat it, and aside from laughing at some of the plot "twists," I was nonplussed.

Haven't played MGS 3. Not so much that I'm against it, but I had other things to play when it came out, so I figured I'd snag it when it was cheap. I just haven't yet.

So needless to say, the first was my favorite so far. Wonder how much I can get MGS 3 for.
