Only the premeir of the greatest show ever written kicks off tomorrow night at 9pm est, and not one person has mentioned it on here. So to all you all bicthes tomorrow night, tune into HBO and watch the best show on TV today, and arguably ever.

The first 2 shows, and a season 5 preview have been leaked.

Season 5 premiere is on HBO On Demand. It was damn good, as always, and looks like it'll be another great season.

I dunno whether to recommend people tune in for season 5 or to just tape it and watch the first 4 season first, it'll make it a much more pleasurable experience!

Clark Johnson is in this shit? Man, I need to get into this show. I never really did for some inexplicable reason. I loved Homicide: Life on the Street, and The Wire comes from the same source.

Yeah he's only just come into the fold in season 5 though, definitely worth checking it out right from the start. The acting in general is superb and the writing is pretty much as good as it gets.

The whole "David Simon/Tom Fontana" network provides me with enough evidence to believe you.

Homicide: Life on the Street was greatness, Oz was greatness, I have no reason to doubt that The Wire would also be greatness. Definitely going to pick up Season 1 on DVD. :y:

Biggest tragedy of this series is the fact that Simon and co only got 10 episodes to do it, its still fantastic quality but as Simon himself admitted it feels a little rushed compared to the other seasons:-\


Also I'm guessing the theme for this season is essentially lies or lying, some casual fans have been complaining on the IMDB board about it being far-fetched, jumping the shark and such shit, I completely disagree, I think in regards to McNulty in particular the way he's gone is pretty logical considering his personality!

I can't see it happening at this point, he was only ever mentioned in season 1, if he'd been brought up again later on I'd think it more possible.

Watched episodes 4,5 and 6 and shits crazy.

I couldnt help it after I saw episode 4 I had to see the rest, I just had too.

Also, I've seen episode 7, cant wait to see the second half of the season.

Gotta say although its rushed I'm still really liking the way the media storyline is fitting in to the whole thing, It adds yet more subtext to the underlying themes of the whole series. This show is so much more than a cop/crime show it is untrue, real shame it gets portrayed as such because the political (ie anything non-street) storylines are so fascinating, I loved the scene in Episode 4 where Burrell cuts the bullshit with Rawls and tells it exactly how it is, also Nareese Campbell is brilliant. I'm loving the way Carver is developing too, his story may end up being the only positive thing to come out of the whole series, hope I've not spoiled anything there.

Another great episode! Sad death...

Richard Belzer portrays John Munch in this final season, I believe. That may mean nothing to some of you, but as a fan of Homicide (the show David Simon was previously involved in), this makes me want to ejaculate.

I think Munch is a one episode only thing, still pretty cool:y:

And finally, HAHAHAHHAHA, man I had to stop because the FBI guy describing the 'killer' and McNulty's expressions just absolutely put me into fits of laughter. Best show ever:D

I know, I was shocked myself, absolutley shocked, don't know If I agree with how it was done, but I wont pass judgement until I've seen the last 2 episodes. Setting up for something big to happen, also I still want to see a "No Heart" Anthony appearence.

And the McNulty part was priceless, also that dyke bitch Kima is gonna blow the whole thing up, I can feel it.

Its hard to see where the ending is gonna come from right now with what happened in ep 8. Either its on the cop side of things with McNutty and Lester or in Marlo's camp, who knows. Knowing this show though it will be absolutely inconclusive, it'll be left in such a way that we'll be imagining the universe they've created going on long after the credits roll. Wouldn't even surprise me if Marlo is still on the street and McNulty still in homicide when all is said and done.

I'm still worried about Michael though, I think Duke is safe now, but Snoop is an evil little motherfucker definitely didn't like what was coming out of her mouth in this ep:mad:

As far as the major event of ep 8 though, I think it was done right. It coulda been all guns blazing but that woulda been too cliche and not in fitting with his character or the show in general. David Simon has said before that his was the only character with any mythical elements to it, I think the fact that it got brushed aside by the Sun news room was a fantastic touch too, even more subtext highlighting the divides within the American city, the guy was a living legend on the Westside and just another black body downtown.

Also I see Clay Davis getting out from under all that shit, he's virtually there already but it looks like he's really gotten Lester hungry to go after an even bigger case and take down the whole damn city, starting with Levy:D

Ah well, I cannot fuckin wait...I think a major rumour amongst fans now is that McNulty is gonna die, possibly on the train tracks where he and Bunk do their drinking. I remember in one of the dvd commentaries David Simon said there is an incredibly subtle piece of subtext written around that area of tracks but its so subtle very few people pick up on it, so who knows

I don't know why I never watched this show. I saw an episode a couple weeks ago and loved it. Then I've now watched the last episode about 3 times now. I'll need to go back and start with season 1.

LC, it's easily the best show written in the last 20 years, and arguably ever. Fuck Sopranos, which is still great, but this show is just better in almost ever aspect. Truly amazing, and David Simon is a genius. I can't wait to see what he's going to do now.

I've read that he's into doing some sort of New Orleans based show, possibly centred around the music scene there back in the day, not sure of anything more specific than that but given his record thus far with Homicide, The Corner and the Wire it'll be meticulously researched and written with genius.

After everyone (ie me, IC and Boondock Saint) has watched the finale we'll have to do a little 'favourite character/episode/season/storyline/cameo etc' thing in true nerd style to commemorate the end of the greatest show ever:( Hopefully not too laden with spoilers:shifty:

CT, you should download the TV series "Intelligence". really good show. It's about the growing drug trade in British Columbia, and how he drugs and such affect the economy their.

Just watched the finale, amazing, no other way of describing it, absolutely the best way they coulda done it, anything outlandish or 'new day' like woulda completely undermined the whole premise of what Simon and co wanted to do from day one.
