Here Comes A New Challenger
http://artfiles.art.com/images/-/Sma...C10140836.jpeghttp://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...85/chunLi4.jpg
"Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" is happening, and the above pics isn't my fan-casting either: Kristin Kreuk (the unofficial Mrs. Kalyx) has signed on to portray the greatest female fighting game icon in history (sorry Sonya). Expect more news throughout the year as its expected to drop sometime 2008/2009. Van Damme is not involved in this. Somehow, that news is awesome and terrible at the same time. Did I mention that I am hopelessly in love with Kristen Kreuk? Cause I kinda am. |
Decent casting.
|
Yeah but wtf a chun li movie? WHy the fuck don't they just make a street fighter movie?
That doesn't suck, I should add. |
Gotta agree with Fignuts.
I enjoyed the first movie, but if they're gonna do a modern one, at least make it about all the characters. |
I can only assume other World Warriors will pop up. This may be a good thing; character specific Street Fighter movies means we'll eventually get a true 'Shoto' movie with Ryu and Ken one day.
|

No more than SF 2 excluded other characters by focusing on Ryu. Chun Li, along with Ryu, Ken and Guile, is a common focal point and protagonist in all things Street Fighter. I'd like to see a Guile-oriented deal myself, but whatever. I mean, I love Ryu and Ken, but they're been done and done and done. |
Gonna be shit.
They got soooo many cool stories to focus on, Ryu, Ken, Akuma....but noooooo.....you think they have gone all 'the producers', where they are actually trying to piss everyone off? I think I might actually visit the set of this film and fuck it up. |

And by what 10 years of studying film and media has done to my ickle little brain of mine. And for what its worth, when it comes to films, I'm pretty good at it. But hell, I could be wrong, ye shall see. |
And your right, that was a lil too radical.
|
Yeah. You watched a lot of movies and went on Wikipedia for information. sound basis for critical analysis.
|
But also, and for Christ's sake, its Kristen fuckin Kruek, she should stick to that Smallville contract like it were her heart, because personally I don't think she has much of a film career to look forward to.
And for fucks sake - The Legend of Chun Li - how in the fucking sweet name of fuckin shit is she a legend? oh, whats that? oh the film will tell us how?...problem is like anyone fucking cares. |
You have access to my internet history files? think if you did, you'd actually know what sites I went on instead of using a kind of reverse protocol, whereby I bet infact it was you who went on wikipedia. Gettin pretty predictable there KK, might wanna change ya game plan(s).

No offense Kano. |
lol so just lemme get this straight, cus you know ole Kano, can't get things straight away. If my posts are longer than say...5 lines, and I use swear words, and some of what I say is negative towards someone or something, its a spazzout?!? OH RIGHT, thats it, you keep it up because it pisses the fucking shit out of me doesn't it.....doesn't it?!?....yeah great running joke you got there guys, I mean you invented it, right?!?
Naa good on ya, thats awesome, keep it up! |
Look I'm gonna be honest. I don't care if this movie is worse than Street Fighter and MK Annihilation combined, I will see just for Kristin Kreuk in Chun-Li gear.

Yeah thats what I said about DOA, fuckin Holly Valance etc, but still, it nearly killed me. I can tell you right now I'll be entering the following or something close to this on You Tube after the film is released:
Legend of Chun Li, best bits, kristen kruek bits, chun kruek, kristen li, show us titties and shit off this shitty new street fighter film |
Hopefully the gear that has the least fabric possible.

Nah man, your cool, you get vocal (as you can on a message board) about your opinions, and make good use of four letter words. I have no probs with that. ... and I did not invite it, Im also not calling it a spaz, more over how much you curse and how much you get into it. |

Actually, for those of us with sufficient brain cells, the irony's pretty apparent.
But what do I know, I didn't do any research or go to film school. [Looks up at his degree in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts] Oh, wait. |
So you got an opinion or not? You are wasting the pixels on my screen that render your message.
|
Dude, it ain't like any of us are expecting Citizen Kane here. At the very best it's a movie about a hot woman who kicks people's asses and wears skimpy clothing. And at the very worst, it's still a movie about a hot woman who kicks people's asses and wears skimpy clothing.
Street Fighter was a fun game franchise and an okay anime, but a film adaptation just isn't gonna work in any way except for a big dumb fight-sequence movie. So it'll either be fun-stupid or just regular stupid. Not worth flying off the handle like you've been doing, Kano. |
lol you people truely are fucking idiots. Just because I swear in my posts and may or may not be negative at the same time, its not me pissed, in a mood, 'flying off the handle' or whatever ok, its just my way of expression. Cus to me, you people need to relax, taking my language so seriously.
I'll try in a more TPWWer language.... The concept of a film focusing on the Chun-Li character as a protagonist is an idea I would rate as being pointless, lame and highly stupid. For one, Chun-Li is by far the least character I would consider being made into a legend. If I were to pitch an idea straight away, it would be to bring one of the anime films to live action. Ken & Ryu & Akuma story, hell, even one about Blanka and Guile would be better. This film is obviously going to try and compete with such spin-offs as Wolverine and Magneto - an attempt I cannot see even coming close to being competition. Apart from the points I have already made, Kristen Kruek is nowhere near any kind of status where she can carry a whole film as the lead role, let alone bring the film's attention to a new audience. Of course there will be the die-hard smallville fans, and the horny teenage boy TA, but come on, since when was that enough - Aeon Flux, DOA - it is futile. Of course, like I said, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure, a few months after this film is released, you will see this topic bumped up with a post from me with the words 'I TOLD YOU SO' in the centre of the page. I understand were not going to be getting a Citizen Kane here, and to think I would think that is very silly, but that doesn't excuse the asshole who gave the fucking green light on this piece of shit. Sorry I tried, we shall see. |
Dude, I was agreeing with you about the fact that the movie's probably going to suck. The 'fucking idiots' bit really wasn't necessary, and pretty much only serves to make you look like an asshole.
|
Dude, I am an asshole.
But seriously, you said I had been flying off the handle. My flying off the handle looks nothing like that. I think people just think I am more serious than I actually am purely because I swear, and because they think 'it gets to me', which in a way it does but only to the point where I am beginning to think they are being serious on their part. |
Well, that explains that then.
Back to topic: the movie's gonna be mindless brain-candy, but it can't be any worse than the video-game flicks Uwe Boll puts out. |
If you can call what he does filmmaking.
House of the Dead had potential. Not his version, just potential as an adaptation. |
Anything with Kristen Kalyx kicking is worth my attention. Akuma be damned.
|
Not enough tits
|
I'm a breast guy, but some things you gotta get over for love.
|
Bullshit
Gotta get tits, or no love. |
I'd bang Kristin Kreuk even if the MIB would erase that from my memory as a stipulation.
|
Then you probably already have. :( Hooray, child-bodied half-Asians.

There theres something for you to go research while your episodes of Torchwood are downloading you fat fucking fuck. |
Yeah, I can't imagine why anyone would think that Kano spazzes out on here...

So there was another thread on this I couldn't find, but casting thus far is:
Michael Clarke Duncan as Balrog Chris Klein as Charlie Neal McDonough as M. Bison Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas (!) as Vega The first 2 I'm ok with. The last 2...not so much. |
Oh ffs Chris Klein
Not actually sure why I'm complaining since I couldn't care less about this movie Kristin Kreuk is wow |
I support this Neil McDonough casting
that guy rules |
Allison Mack is hotter.
|
Diesel Mac is correct.
Also I guess I don't mind McDonough so much, but Taboo? As Vega? Fuck's sake, man. |
Seems like Chloe is more fun than Lana.
|
LOL at this thread
|
LOL indeed.
I'd destroy Allison Mack, BTW. |
She's cuter, face it.
|
Destroy = Ferocious Sex
|
Oh
|

|
More have been cast.
http://movies.ign.com/articles/861/861951p1.html Kristin Kreuk | Chun-Li -- Most famous for playing Lana Lang on The CW's Smallville, Kristin Kreuk plays the film's main character, Chun-Li. Will she be rocking the trademark "ox horn" hairdo? We've yet to find out. We've seen Kreuk fight on Smallville plenty of times and she's no slouch. Also, she's like totally hot. It works for us. http://moviesmedia.ign.com/movies/im...5044826749.jpg - L. Cohen/WireImage.com Neal McDonough | M. Bison -- You might recognize McDonough from bit parts in films such as The Hitcher remake, Flags of Our Fathers and as Lieutenant Hawk in Star Trek: First Contact. He was also in Band of Brothers. The guy has just the right look to play Psycho Power-using villain exponent M. Bison. http://moviesmedia.ign.com/movies/im...5044827452.jpg - Alexandra Wyman/WireImage.com Chris Klein | Nash -- Marine Charlie Nash will played by American Pie and Election star Chris Klein. He's totally not blonde like the game character, but that's an easy fix. In fact, as long as he doesn't transform into a mutated beast like in the prior version, we're willing to forgive just about anything. http://moviesmedia.ign.com/movies/im...5051447972.jpg Micheal Clark Duncan | Balrog -- Academy Award-nominated actor Michael Clarke Duncan, star of The Green Mile and Armageddon, seems well cast as boxer Balrog. First of all, he's freakin' huge. And Clarke Duncan's former-career training as a bodyguard for the likes of LL Cool J and Notorious B.I.G., will no doubt come in handy. We can't wait to see him do a Buffalo Headbutt. http://moviesmedia.ign.com/movies/im...5051446831.jpg Taboo | Vega -- Taboo, whose real name is Jamie Luis Gomez, from the Black Eyed Peas will play vain Spaniard Vega. We can't speak for his acting ability, but Taboo is a good fit for the part in many ways. His dance moves are often Kung-Fu inspired and he's known to be a practitioner of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do martial arts system. He shouldn't have any trouble adapting to Vega's arranged ninjutsu style, and we expect him to wear the mask and claws well. http://moviesmedia.ign.com/movies/im...5051444940.jpg Rick Yune | Gen -- Asian American actor Rick Yune, who has previously appeared in Die Another Day and The Fast and the Furious, will play master assassin Gen. At age 36, the good-looking Yune wouldn't have been our first pick for the gnarled, mystical warrior. They've either substantially younged-up the character for the movie or Yune is going to be in make-up for a long time. http://moviesmedia.ign.com/movies/im...5051446018.jpg Those are the main members of the cast, but we've also learned that Chinese actress Josie Ho will star in an as-yet-unknown role. |
Neal's gonna nail Bison, BET. He has fun being a badguy, and you have little choice but to ham up a psycho-powered madman.
|
LOL
|
He's Back:
Mortal Kombat's Robin Shou is officially cast as Gen, Hell there are already pics of him in character. Thumbs way up. I was just wondering what the Hell he was doing these days. I am very happy with the cast. |
Here Comes A New(er) Challenger:

The problem with casting Vega, is that the character is supposed to be from spain, yet looks absolutely nothing like someone from spain.
|
Chun-Li Revealed, And A Belated Gen Pic:
http://moviesmedia.ign.com/movies/im...3000719487.jpg Not in any costume or anything, but it looks like she seen some action. Kristin Kreuk looks great. http://moviesmedia.ign.com/movies/im...2015101564.jpg Robin Shou adds alot of martial arts cred to the cast. |
lol she looks nothing like Chun-Li.
I really cannot wait until everyone comes back to this thread and all will know it Was Kano who foretold the shitness of this. |
Hugh Jackman.
That is all. |

No, because if there is at all any Chinese/Eastern heritage in that bitch's bloodline, its been seriously demolished by some Western fucker who probably had one up on her grand mother.
Now, I don't want to get into the logistics of how bad and why this film WILL suck, and it will. I'm rather more perplexed at the amount of people who think its going to be good. |
Well, I never said it would be good, but I'm at least giving it a chance. No one here is expecting cinematic brilliance, but it could be good a popcorn action movie.
|
Ok well I guess what I am trying to suggest is that it won't even be that.
|
Hater.
|
dont hate the player, son, its the game, the game!
|
...Street Fighter 4?
|
Lui Kang!!!
|
Exactly, I'd much rather see Robin Shou making a decent MK sequel, which with the right money and director, they can.
LOL think I remember reading on some MK fan site, which looked quite reliable, that shooting for a 3rd MK would begin in fall 2005 lol and that was quoted from Shou at some loser film awards thing. |
Mortal Kombat Devastation was supposed to be under way recently.
|
Wait a minute, there were other films after the first?
|
Yep.
|
They must have been awful.
|
It was one but... yeah.
|
The downfall to the MK sequel was all the characters they introduced and how quickly they were all killed off.
That and the pussification of Raiden. Christopher Lambert as Raiden was pretty cool IMO. http://www.retrojunk.com/img/art-images/mortalk6.jpg |
MK:A was plain and simply bad writing.
Katana: Mother, you're alive... Sindel: Too bad YOU... will die. There's about a million ways you could've taken a possibly emotional turning point for Katana (who was cool and calm in part one) and made it a great scene on film, instead we get the above line of dialogue. There's alot of failed scenarios like that in the movie. |
Agreed.
But I still watch them from time to time. Plus I thought my man Kano in the first film was fuckin hilarious..... Kano: I love punctuality in a woman, don't you? Mr. Shang Tsung (making no attempt whatsoever to say the name with any regional dialect or correct pronunciation) |

Guys... that shit looks boss. Like better than I thought boss. I was scared with all the names involved but I didn't think it'd be that eastern in style (whereas DBE has a western slant). I like it.

I........WILL watch this.

Damn, better luck with Legend of Ryu, I hope. |
that looks horrible
|
Anyone else notice that the most recent commercials for this have been downplaying the "Legend of Chun-Li" part? All the announcer says is "Street Fighter", and you barely see any of Kristen Kreuk at all. That should be a MAJOR tell that the movie is gonna = teh suxors
