If Cena came back and won the WWE title his first night...

What would you do?

Bad Company 01-19-2008 07:14 AM

I would not be too concerned because he is the Number 1 Guy these days.

Chavo Classic 01-19-2008 09:34 AM

Be totally and utterly unsurprised, before returning to my usual apathy and occassional disdain for the current WWE product.

Destor 01-19-2008 09:35 AM

I wouldn't expect anything else.

Wrestle Mania 9 style

Kane Knight 01-19-2008 09:40 AM

Continue to not watch.

Whether anyone likes it or not, that's 100% true and why it wouldn't surprise me.

Chavo Classic 01-19-2008 10:01 AM

What might be a good idea angle-wise, if Cena returned but was placed at the bottom of the ladder. The evil GM or Commissioner (I hear it's Regal nowdays) would vow that Cena will never be champion again and the mountain would be too great to climb.

Put Cena through a series of squash matches with the lower-card to help his momentum, but then put him through a series of tighter encounters with the mid-card. The benefit of the mid-card is that the majority can work a decent match (Marello, London, Kennedy and Hardy), and where the squash matches would appease the casual fans and Cena marks, a few decent technical (or at least by his standard) matches with mid-card talent would help his credibility with the smarks.

Cena then chases Orton or HHH or whoever holds the belt by the time he's back at the top, and hopefully puts on a solid progamme. Maybe bring in a big-guy as a bodyguard for the Champ who pushes Cena to the limit, before he defeats his foe in a series of gruelling matches, perhaps a bloddy Streetfight or Cage match.

By the time Survivor Series rolls around he's got great momentum and maybe turned a few heads with his efforts, before cracking the perceived glass-ceiling as co-winner of a Battle Royal as both men are eliminated at once (perhaps Jericho, or even Hardy again). Have his new opponent put him through a series of matches before he finally gets a shot at the title around Royal Rumble time.

Generally, just make Cena a credible performer again. The big problem at the moment is that he's perceived more of a figure-head than a performer. It would help his status with the smarks to have him involved in a couple of decent feuds and challenging matches, while the heads of marketting won't be too upset as he's still got the momentum by squashing the lower-card.

KingofOldSchool 01-19-2008 10:05 AM

Go, "DUH".

Theo Dious 01-19-2008 11:00 AM

Cena is not going to win the title his first night.

He's going to end Ric Flair's career on his first night. :shifty:

Destor 01-19-2008 11:02 AM

That is something that would legitamently make me hate Cena

Slow 01-19-2008 11:44 AM

To come back and win it in one night...

I reckon i could get away with saying TNA is better than WWE without getting a beat down

Mr. Pierre 01-19-2008 12:28 PM

I'd be disappointed.

Heros Welcome 01-19-2008 12:38 PM

Mark out.....:|

The Lone Wolf 01-19-2008 01:14 PM

I'd say "Fuck You Cena" and that would be the end of it since it would not surprise me in the least.

No, TNA would reveal Abyss' newest secret that night...That he likes cuppycakes, and you'd still look like a retard.

Gerard 01-19-2008 02:02 PM

Kick a kitten.

Tommy Gunn 01-19-2008 02:46 PM

Watch more Smackdown n ecDUB.

Shaggy 01-19-2008 02:50 PM

be pissed and return to my "God I hate Cena attitude"...and be angry when I watch Raw.

Also I would have to be pissed because then that guy will start showing up to Buffalo Wild Wings again...He was always there when Cena was there and once Cena was out he hasnt shown up since. He would always show up in a ECW shirt and then when Cena came to the ring he would take his shirt off and show he had a Cena shirt on. He would then proceed to stand on a table and pose like cena.

God I hated that guy......

The Gold Standard 01-19-2008 03:10 PM

I would be upset, but it wouldnt suprise me because it would be something that would happen.

There must be similar people at all of those places. The BWW that I go to, there is always one guy who is a Cena fan who is louder than hell. The only difference I see between the two is that this guy is always decked in Cena gear the minute he walks in the door, complete with spinner belt.

But if Cena would win the title his first night back, I would be really pissed and probably want to throw something at the screen. Hell, I might even watch TNA, which I don't do now, if that would happen.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with cup cakes, they're convenient for gatherings and stuff. Fair play to him, the man likes his cake.

James Steele 01-19-2008 05:24 PM

I'd be more surprised if that didn't happen.

Volare 01-19-2008 06:15 PM

Hire a sniper to take em out

Lock Jaw 01-19-2008 06:20 PM

I'd lose my smile.

Mr. JL 01-19-2008 07:39 PM

I wouldn't be all that surprized.

Kane Knight 01-19-2008 08:01 PM

I'm surprised anyone really cares. Cena being on top is pretty much a fact of WWE at this point. Either it bothers you enough to stop watching or it doesn't, but either way, it is what it is.

Mr. Nerfect 01-19-2008 08:10 PM

Nothing would change. I'd probably make even less of an effort to watch, though.

Kane Knight 01-19-2008 08:19 PM

I think most people would.

James Steele 01-19-2008 08:27 PM

I can imagine what Jeff Hardy would be doing if Cena wouldn't have gotten hurt. (jobbing to Trevor Murdoch)

Smoking weed, smoking wiz
Doing coke, drinking beers
Drinking beers, beers, beers
Rolling fatties, smoking blunts
Who smokes the blunts?
We smoke the blunts
Rolling blunts and smoking 'em…

addy2hotty 01-19-2008 09:11 PM

I'd be done. Completely. Jericho's complete and toal burial has pushed me close what with the Jeff Hardy thing being my only reason to watch.

FourFifty 01-19-2008 11:09 PM

I'd preform forced abortion on the family of the writing staff upwards to 5 years post natal.

The Naitch 01-19-2008 11:12 PM

I'd rally up the Chain Gang for a round of nachos and quesidillas

My sentiments exactly.

However - I'm starting to get interested in this Jeff Hardy push. IF (and this is a big 'IF') he wins the World title on RAW, I hope he actually does something with it. We all saw how guys like Benoit, Guerrero, and Mysterio declined somewhat drastically (in a span of half-a-year....or less) in their popularity once they won the titles.

It's EASY for fans to cheer the underdog when he's in pursuit of something big. It's a whole different ballgame for the fans to CONTINUE to cheer that guy when he has the title.

Like fall off a ladder with it?

The MAC 01-20-2008 02:28 PM

Cena would come back probably cut a promo about how the belt is really his and he is coming to get it. He will then squash someone on raw and then win the belt at the next pay-per-view. "I hate Cena" threads would once again be the staple postings for this site.
In short the wrestling universe would return to its crappy self.

interforce 01-20-2008 03:35 PM

I would turn off.

If i am being honest the product is getting better and thats without the number one guy.

No one likes Cena he is a fag

If that were true he wouldn't be moving merchandise like he is.

Seriously, he may not be the greatest thing in what should be their main demographic, but he still is popular with the marks. And really, he is a great company man. He gives off a good vibe and I'm not ashamed to say that I respect him for what he does for the business. The guy, from all accounts, is very approachable and looks great whenever he's in a position to push WWE.

We shouldn't condemn him for what Vince and the writers are doing to him. He doesn't necessarily need to turn heel, he just needs a revamp. He's decent in the ring and can get a connection with the fans when they're into him - which is all a top talent really needs.

The writers are killing what could have been huge for the business, not Cena.

If this actually happened, I would turn Cena right after the match. Have him beat Ric Flair by cheating with brass knucks or a chair shot. After the match continue to beat Flair's ass and lay him out with a chair. Then have him get on the mic and turn on the fans.

I agree for the most part, but let's face it: T-Shirt sales aren't the only factor here. There's no real indication he's putting more asses in the seats, he's sure as fuck not getting ratings, so I mean, yeah, he's selling merch, but that alone doesn't mean he's actually over, just that his merch sells.

Of course, that is enough for WWE, so....

James Steele 01-20-2008 09:28 PM

If WWE is stupid enough to think John Cena put 80,000+ in Detroit instead of the WrestleMania event itself, they are fucking delusional. WrestleMania is on the same level as the SuperBowl, it will sell itself as far as tickets go.

Stickman 01-21-2008 04:12 PM

riot

Savio 01-21-2008 10:03 PM

I'd prob find out the next day on tpww and say well I'm glad I don't watch

Savio 01-21-2008 10:21 PM

althuogh i am watchin raw right now and there's 30 mins left.....who knows?

BigDaddyCool 01-22-2008 11:05 AM

I would be suprised. I'm expecting they strip the current champion of the title and hand it to Cena before he is 100% back, he is going to over come the odds of not even being there.

Ruien 01-27-2008 10:45 PM

Well he did the next best thing.....

SammyG 01-27-2008 10:46 PM

lol amazing

HTrain90 01-27-2008 10:59 PM

This thread is entirely too perfect.

RGWhat316 01-27-2008 11:43 PM

Well, I didn't get the chance to throw anything except for some middle fingers up at the BDubs screen.

Kane Knight 01-28-2008 09:59 AM

Oh look. Two hours free tonight.

D Mac 01-28-2008 03:13 PM

He'll win it tonight on Raw.
