Favorite Single Episode Simpson Character
Hank Scorpio?
Frank Grimes? Leon Kampowsky? You know what is. Make it happen, captain. |
I gotta go with Grimey, personally. Episode was like benchmark for everything that is/was good about Simpsons.
Second for Grimey.
First one that cmoes to mind is the Hank Scorpio episode. But I remember watching the episode when Marge becomes a cop recently and thinking it was amazing. So maybe that.
Scorpio off the top of my head. I'd have to think about it more....but honestly he'd probably still win.

Scorpio! He'll sting you with his dreams of power and wealth. Beware of Scorpio! His twisted twin obsessions are his plot to rule the world And his employees' health. He'll welcome you into his lair, Like the nobleman welcomes his guest. With free dental care and a stock plan that helps you invest! But beware of his generous pensions, Plus three weeks paid vacation each year, And on Fridays the lunchroom serves hot dogs and burgers and beer! He loves German beer! |
The guy who's trying to pitch "frame nudging" at the business expo
Mr. Black from Kamp Krusty
Jay Sherman, although he is technically a two episode character.
Its gotta be Scorpio or Grimey hasn't it?
Also Australia as a whole in the episode where Bart makes that collect call about the direction water flushes. |
Scorpio
Grimey and Scorpio were the goods
Not technically even a character at all, but mad props gotta go to Steve ..........Grabowski, from the WTC episode.
Oh CHARACTER.
lol Steve Grabowski |
I don't think it's as cut and dry as Scorpio and Grimes.
Mr. Bergstrom Lyle Lanley Dr. Wolfe ("Why must you turn my office into a house of LIES") Larry Burns John Waters Rex Banner Cecil Terwilliger Cooter and Spud Ray Patterson Seth and Munchie Red Barclay Meathook and Ramrod The Sheriff from "Kill the Alligator and Run" Buck McCoy Now of course all of them aren't quite up to the level of Scorpio and Grimes, but a few, particularly Larry Burns, Rex Banner, John Waters, and Cecil Terwilliger all made for pretty amazing episodes. |
Interesting sidenote: Scorpio, Grimes, Larry Burns, Rex Banner, John Waters, and Cecil all appeared in season 8 which IMO is the greatest season of any show ever.
Rex Banner is a darkhorse. He crossrine really steal the show here.
Darryl Strawberry
Rex Banner was Jawsome
And that's the end of that chapter
Didn't Cecil appear on some episode last season? Or this season? I didn't see it, but I heard that he had. Along with Bob and Cecil's father.
Scorpio and Rex Banner
"I'm peeing on the seat! Give me a raise!"
Also let's not forget the stellar performance James Woods gave as a Kwik E Mart attendant.
Mojo the helper monkey
I've seen plays better than this. Honest to God... plays.
I'm shocked at the lack of appreciation for Mr. Black
Pretty much most of these have been mentioned so far, but:
Hank Scorpio Frank Grimes Mr. Black Lyle Lanley Handsome Pete Mojo Pepi Rex Banner Cecil Terwilliger Race Banyon Jacques (I know he appeared briefly in other episodes, but he was only a key player in Life in the Fast Lane) Cesar and Ugolin (as above, I know they had a brief appearance in another episode) Lucille Botzcowski ("Ms. Botz") Llewellyn Sinclair Arthur Crandall/Gabbo Brad Goodman Space Coyote Mindy Simmons Malloy "Joe", ex-husband of Stacey Lovell ("I'll bomb your house to the ground, missy") Godfrey Jones Number One of the Stonecutters Security Chief Don Brodka, uh-huh, that's right Lucius Sweet Belle, of the Maison Derriere Dr. Foster ("In the den! Then may God have mercy on us all.") The Leader and his Movementarians Seth and Munchie Everyone involved in the Radioactive Man feature ("You're fired." "And with good cause!") Little Vickie Valentine L.T. Smash Worker and Parasite Kitenge The Singing Hobo and finally, although he wasn't in an episode, he did only appear the once: Russ Cargill. Man, that is a long ass list. If it had to be culled, you couldn't go past Grimes and Scorpio. But beyond that, it's anyone's ballgame. |
Banner or Scorpio...or Mr. Snrub
Hey hey Poochie's in the house
Also word on Mojo Mitch, pretty sure Lucius Sweet has been in more than a few episodes though:$
Cecil was only in the one episode, wasn't he? Sideshow Bob's brother?
If not him, then Grimey. |
Rex Banner. Or James Woods.

Scorpio or Rex Banner for me, but there are a ton of other great suggestions in this thread. "Hap" Hapablap is one of my favorites. "I'll tear you up like a Kleenex at a snot party!" I'm with whoever said Season 8 is the greatest season of any show ever.
Look at this episode list (I'm not just picking out the highlights, this is literally the list of every episode that season): Treehouse of Horror VII (The Thing And I, The Genesis Tub, Citizen Kang) You Only Move Twice The Homer They Fall Burns, Baby Burns Bart After Dark A Milhouse Divided Lisa's Date With Density Hurricane Neddy El Viaje Misterioso De Nuestro Jomer The Springfield Files The Twisted World Of Marge Simpson Mountain of Madness Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)cious The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show Homer's Phobia Brother From Another Series My Sister, My Sitter Homer vs. The Eighteenth Amendment Grade School, Confidential The Canine Mutiny The Old Man And The Lisa In Marge We Trust Homer's Enemy The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase The Secret War Of Lisa Simpson My Sister, My Sitter is probably the weakest episode of that season imo, but it's still a pretty good one. That is a ridiculous lineup of episodes. |
Scorpio, with Grimes as a close second.....though there are a million memorable ones, as others have said.
Wow I just realised nobody has mentioned Roy :'(
He wasn't that great, as one shot characters go. :(
I honoustly cannot remember Roy
