Porcupine 04-05-2008 08:49 PM

1. Shawn Micheals
- Didnt see enough of Ultimo, didnt see enough Charisma in him. Shawn is shawn.
2. Mr. Perfect
- Easy one here.
3. Big Show
- Like Big Show better as a total package.
4. Kurt Angle
- Angle is one of my top three or so.
5. Eddie Guerrero
- Another easy one.
6. Lance Storm
- Urgh. Two guys I'm really a fan of, but gotta go with Storm by just a little bit.
7. Randy Orton
- Two dicks. I choose the one that I watched/like more.
8. Takeshi Morishima
- Morishima is awesome for his size.
9. Undertaker
- Undertaker is another one of my top favs of all time.
10. Sting
- Sting did much more than Brock ever did. His work with Flair alone cements him here.
11. Raven
- Tough one. Will have to go with Raven for his promos.
12. HHH
- Small Joe! All kidding aside, HHH is more dimensional than Joe.
13. Kevin Nash
- Come on. Its Nash.
14. Diamond Dallas Page
- Was always a fan of DDP.
15. Scott Hall
- Did not see enough of KENTA.
16. Bret Hart
- Hart. Too many classic moments.
17. Mick Foley
- Foley. Another one of my top favs.
18. MVP
- MVP by just a notch...hope his potential turns out to be what it looks like.
19. Taz
- Giving the vote to Taz here because his ECW run is probably one of the best wrestling "pieces" of all time.
20. Ric Flair
- Flair is more dimensional. Rey lacks in Charisma area and isnt a good heel.
21. The Ultimate Warrior
- Squash!
22. Booker T
- Argh. Hate to vote against Pillman, but had more exposure to Booker and loved him all around.
23. Edge
- Jeff is not as good on the mic and screws it up for himself too much. Sorry Jeff.
24. Sid Vicious
- Because he has HALF THE BRAIN YOU DO!
25. Rick Rude
- A wrestler like Rick only comes once in a lifetime.
26. Owen Hart
- Owen. Bryan has yet to show me anything but awesome in ring skills. I like charisma too.
27. Rob Van Dam
- RVD. If only he didnt smoke pot so much.
28. The Rock
- Why are awesome women being pitted against legends? Sorry Trish.
29. Randy Savage
- OOH NO! His Rap album alone provided me with much entertainment. Poor Das Wunderkind.
30. Christian Cage
- Christian. Dusty never really impressed me. Maybe its because I mostly saw his crappy WWF run.
31. Kenta Kobashi
- Hard one, but I will go with Kenta.
32.Tully Blanchard
- Sympathy vote for Tully, once again because I only liked Austin as a heel. Hated, hated him as a face much like people dislike Cena in recent times.

Destor 04-06-2008 12:24 AM

Well to be fair I didn't make the brakets, you all did. This was done by seeding based on who got the most votes in the nominations. for example HBK got the most votes, because of this he got the person with the least votes (or one of them anyway) Ultimo Dragon.

while I'm on the subject does anyone think I should continue this as a tournement, meaning these are the brackets and the wil face the winner of the match below them, or should I keep seeding? Meaning who ever gets the most votes would vate the guy who got the least?

Dunno.

Jeritron 04-06-2008 12:27 AM

Sounds about right. You've done it for one round so you should just keep it that way until it gets narrowed down to 2 I suppose. Then obviously the poll vote would decide...or, just a thought, once it gets down to 4 you could have a poll with 4 choices which would make things interesting, since it wouldn't be a choice between A and B

CSL 04-06-2008 12:34 AM

I would randomize.

Also, how the hell did Big Show get seeded 3rd? Some people must really hate Floyd Mayweather

Destor 04-06-2008 12:34 AM

Keep it which way? Seeding? I mean really this thing just started so theres no standerd set yet. Doing the seeding to decide who goes in the tournament makes sense but looking at it the top half is going to be stacked. If I went with the seeding that means the quality bouts wouldn't happen until much later. We'd get a few, but they would be more rare.

They both have their negatives...

to keep the top half of the brakect from just being insane I put the second seed at the very bottom (SCSA) and then the thrid in the fourth match, the 4th in the 28th match. Etc by 4 so that the top guys guys would be seperated from one another. It made sense to me.

Destor 04-06-2008 12:43 AM

2 After you do so many it just bleeds together.

You still didn't answer my question though.

Jeritron 04-06-2008 12:44 AM

What was that?

Jeritron 04-06-2008 12:45 AM

Oh yea, I'd keep it seeding based on votes up until the end. Then either go with a 4 way poll or a 1 on 1 poll

Afterlife 04-06-2008 12:45 AM

Mickie. That's so ridiculous.

Jeritron 04-06-2008 12:45 AM

That's just my 2 cents, you can do it how you'd like. I just think since you've started that way it should continue and it seems the most fair and efficient way to do the matchups

Why? I guess I see where you're coming from but she's a woman wrestler and that makes her a wrestler. You can't judge her on the same level as Flair or HBM, just as a woman wrestler. And as that her and Trish are pretty much the best. As ludicrous as it sounds, Trish would be like the Ric Flair of Women's wrestling. Again, sounds ridiculous but it's true when you look at it logically

Yes, they are in different catgories. That is why the comparrison is ridiculous.

Destor 04-06-2008 12:57 AM

I don't think shes going to come back tbh. she's achieved all she can and anything she were to do people would just say "well she's really gone down hill," etc. she got out at the right for the sake of her legacy. As far as the HoF I'd imagine they keep her out for the next 5-10 years as I'm sure they are hoping she comes back, and once your in the HoF its pretty final.

if she's smart she'll stay out, but for my sake I hope she comes back next Monday. or any Monday. Her call.

Not in my eyes, but I'm not sexist when itcomes to wrestling. (Ironically I am sexist is every other facet of life.) But don't blame me, It's not like I can put in any one person on my own. People were free to vote for who ever they thought deserved to be in. 3 of which are women.

Jeritron 04-06-2008 01:01 AM

No. They are all wrestlers. They can't be held to the same standards as a male wrestler, but can be judged at how good they are at what they do. Thus, they can be compared for the purposes of this poll.

For example, CM Punk is obviously better than Trish Stratus if you watched their work as stick figures or something. However, Trish Stratus is the greatest of her kind. Just like The Big Show or Undertaker as big men are better than Khali or Test.

Jeritron 04-06-2008 01:02 AM

It's hard to explain what I'm saying to you, since if you don't get it from my first explanation you prob never will. Destor knows what I'm talkin bout

Destor 04-06-2008 01:06 AM

Oh yeah. It's that very mind set that Afterlife has that leads a large part of the IWC to hate all big men or brawlers. they judge all good wrestling on one set scale instead judging whos better at their stlye. (Not saying Afterlife does this just saying that his inability to judge women with men is the same.)

Jeritron 04-06-2008 01:06 AM

How about this? I don't even like or watch soccer but it's the best analogy I could think of. Most male players in the World Cup or MLS or European league or whatever there is would probably school Mia Hamm or outperform her. But she's prob considered one of the greatest soccer players and biggest stars/legends/favorites of all time. Moreso than a lot of the men who would school her.

Afterlife 04-06-2008 01:06 AM

Except that any man can go for any title, save perhaps the cruiser -- which is gone -- just because he's a man. Threre is a clear division therein, which allows men to show a broader scale of themselves. Cruiser go for heavyweight titles, giants go for US titles, and any combination imaginable can go for tag. But chicks only get the chick title. And, with the exception of "girly fights", ie. lumberjills and lingerie matches -- which is actually sexist -- they can't really show us what they've got. Saying "they're wrestlers, too" is an accurate claim; saying they have equality in career comparisson is way off.

Jeritron 04-06-2008 01:08 AM

What are you talking about with titles? Non issue. That's a whole other thing. Chyna won a second tier title, Matt Hardy never has. Doesn't stop him from being more of a favorite round these parts

Khalis been a world champ and Piper and Hennig never have. The fuck do titles got to do with anything?

Destor 04-06-2008 01:09 AM

Women can and have gone for and won male titles. they just don't make a habit of it.

and I think you're judging female wrestling as if the WWE image of female wrestling is the only one that exist which is really depressing.

The title logic is a bit pointless cause I'm not a mark but by that logic people who only work for weight class titles shouldn't be in this contest.

They're not from different areas fully. They're both performers. "Favorite wrestler". Trish is a better wrestler than Khali. Fuck what titles have to do with anything. There are boundaries and different criteria, but on the broader scale of greatest performers and how good they are at their job/over with fans, you are dead wrong my friend.
Nobody denied that there was differences. You need to see the broader picture

Yeah they are from different areas, but the thing about wrestling is there are A LOT of different areas. if you watch Megumi Kudo vs Mother-in-law Toyoda and say they aren't every bit as good as the men in every way then I'll be shocked. Women can go in the exact same way the men do, unfortunately the WWE has decided thats a myth and the WWE follows suit in this logic. But there have been some female wrestlers that are just leagues above a lot of men. But thats the beauty of wrestling. It's not about actual physical superiority. Saying the women can be as good as the men is the same as saying women cant be as good stunt men or actors. They can. and some are.

Destor 04-06-2008 01:20 AM

Besides this is about who you like more, not who is technically supirior.

Afterlife 04-06-2008 01:20 AM

I'm not talking about who wins titles. I'm saying the men -- at least in the WWE -- have an incredibly wider range in which to perform. That means they have more opportunity and more variety in their ability to win the crowd. THat also means they'll have a more storied history and a more developed character/persona with which to relate vto the crowds.

I understand the concept of favoritism, I just don't think female wreatlers have the same opportunities that males do in obtaining that popularity. In that aspect, I think it's unfair to compare them.

However, I've been wrong on a plethera of topics and occassions, so I don't expect to be surprised if everyone concurs against me.

Jeritron 04-06-2008 01:23 AM

Which is why Kevin Nash has more votes than Lesnar or such. Why can't Trish have more votes than a man? By nature of the thread title, the votes can't lie

I can agree with that. The women in the WWE don't get their fair chance to shine to the level of the men. But to me thats a testiment to how awesome the women who made this must be. Given half the opportunity and still they beat out a load of male competitors to get in this compitition.

It's pretty impressive.

Matches are matches and the ring is a ring. Time and freedom given and compettitors is what matters, and match type. The title at stake means very little. Rock and HHH matches aren't in some different artform depending on what title they are for.
If Vince gives HHH and Jericho 20 minutes in the main event for the world title it's not going to be a different match than if they're given 20 minutes in the main event for the IC title. Only in storyline.

If Big Show faced Rey for the cruiserweight title it wouldn't be some different area of performance than if it were for the US title

You say they have a wider variety to perform. You act like wrestling for different titles suddenly makes it a different activity or something.

I suppose you could say it about the hardcore title, but what else? It's not like they get booked in a program for a different title and suddenly it's like, "oh now I can try this"

Dude! I said the titles don't matter! But having 4 damn titles as opposed to one gives more guys more action. I also mentioned that there are a variety of match forms that the chicks aren't allowed to do.

Different titles lead to different matches, with different opponents and different stipulations. That is what I'm talking about. Not the "meaning" behind the belt.

I have to state that there are companies that have several belts for girls. From mid-card belts to cruiser belts to tag belts. There are places where the women have the opportunity to shine and be just as impactful as the men. I think your acting like the WWE is the only wrestling in existance.

Jeritron 04-06-2008 01:37 AM

That's because theres more men. That doesn't mean the women are worse performers or not comparible in the broader spectrum of talent.

It gives guys more action, but not more levels on which to perform.

Jeritron 04-06-2008 01:39 AM

Say theres 4 mens titles on the show and 40 men. And 1 womens belt and 10 women. What's the difference?

The men aren't trying their hand at 4 different sports

I'm not acting like it, it's what I'm talking about. That's why I've been saying "in the WWE", etc. THat's the mainstream medium we have to work with here, so that's what I'm focussing on.

Jeritron 04-06-2008 01:41 AM

I use the word sport loosely. But I mean it like, it's not like the world title is basketball and now the men can prove their athleticism by going for the IC title which is baseball. It's all the same stuff, wrestling bell to bell.

I'll give you that the womens belt isn't given the time of a men's belt, but that isn't their fault

Jeritron 04-06-2008 01:44 AM

But Trish is still better at her job and more of a favorite than men who have won multiple titles in different divisions

I need you to place really close attention to this.

Please.

I have not said anything about the female wrestlers being of inferior quality.

I'm saying the men have more advantage in a Favorites Contest, because they are the ones used on tv in a serious, in-depth manner. The girls are eye candy, and sometimes they put on a watchable match.

I'm not talking about the universe of pro wrestling, I'm talking about the WWE. Because the majority of that list Destor put up is WWE and the only two girls thereupon are also WWE.

Jeritron 04-06-2008 01:49 AM

Women can apply their art in bra and panties matches and mud wrestling, are male wrestlers lesser because they haven't worked in these match types?

I'm just fuckin around, but it's not like women can't have tag matches, cage matches, hardocre matches. They have.

Ftr, this is a case were both parties are right.

Jeritron 04-06-2008 01:56 AM

Okay, world of WWE only. Still. Trish and Mickie have put on matches and worked on a level that could make them favorites. They were named and voted on in here. This is a democratic contest for favorite, which makes the voting infallible.

Trish and Mickie had a fued and match far superior and well done than most of the male ones.

I also didn't know we were arguing who had more of an advantage, but rather thought we were arguing whether or not they should be involved in the contest or judged as performers in the same broad sense as the men, which is how much of a favorite and how good are they at their job.

Jeritron 04-06-2008 01:58 AM

Afterlife 04-06-2008 02:08 AM

I'm not swerving anything. In fact, I'm fighting the urge to pull my hair out.

The advantage I'm talking about is the exposure for popularity. Nobody's said this list was rigged. I just think it's silly. In fact, when I said "Mickie. That's ridiculous," I was actually commenting on the fact that she's anybody's favorite. That is one seriously goofy broad.

But, as I was called on being sexist, yes, I brought up the idea that male and female favorites should be judged categoically because men get a lot more exposure to the crowd than the women.
