Dublin man arrested for spamming WWE.com's message board...

Quote:

Man arrested following malicious attack on pro wrestling website

A Dublin man has been detained in accordance with the Communications Regulation Act 2002 after an alleged malicious attack on the website of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), the leading professional wrestling company based in the US.

The attacks are reported to have taken place over a period of two days last weekend. The newly created WWE Fan Nation Forum was the subject of the attack.

A WWE spokesman told RTÉ that the attacks on the forum consisted of "lewd and vile diatribes" aimed at WWE and its global fanbase. It is understood that many users were involved in the attacks but so far only one person has been charged.

AdvertisementWWE spokesman Gary Davis said, "certain postings made on the WWE Fan Nation Forum were unacceptable and against the rules set down by WWE. The users who made these postings have been traced and their information has been forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement agencies."

Mr Davis also added that WWE believe that although many of the rogue users acted independently, a certain number of them coordinated their attacks through a rival wrestling fan forum, believed to be Figure Four Online. Some form of legal action is expected to take place before the end of the week.

The postings that have created this controversy are understood to have been pornographic in nature. This is a huge concern to WWE, whose fanbase largely consists of young children.

The man arrested, known only as Dave Anchorking, is believed to be a resident of the Blanchardstown area of Dublin. Efforts made to contact the man's family were unsuccessful.

owenbrown 04-22-2008 10:47 PM

GET WITH THE FUCKING PROGRAM! NO WONDER WWE IS HATED SO MUCH! GROW UP VINCE MCMAHON! :foc::foc::foc::wtf::wtf::wtf:

Loose Cannon 04-22-2008 10:48 PM

lol, didn't know there were such rules. good to know I guess

Innovator 04-22-2008 10:49 PM

You can get arrested for spamming?...hmmmm

KingofOldSchool 04-22-2008 10:49 PM

I think most members here would be wanted if all message boards reacted the way WWE did.

DarKCentaur 04-22-2008 10:52 PM

Actually, no, you can't get arrested for that. This guy must have either hacked the website, or posted child porn or something.

He posted porn I think and WWE.com is frequented by children.

owenbrown 04-22-2008 10:58 PM

GRANTED I DIDN'T DO WHAT THIS GUY DID BY MASS POSTING THE SAME VIDEO, OR ANOTHER GUY POSTING A PICTURE OF A NAKED GUY WITH HIS DICK CENSORED OR HACKED THE HTML...ALL I DID WAS MAKE A FEW OFF-COLOR COMMENTS AND PISSED OFF THE CENA MARKS AND MARKS IN GENERAL! BUT THIS IS A WASTE OF TAX DOLLARS AND MISUSE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT IN FAVOR OF A COMPANY THAT DEALS IN SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT! FUCK THE WWE! YOU JUST LOST ANOTHER VIEWER IN ME AND POSSIBLY MUCH MORE VIEWERS AFTER THIS! NOT TO MENTION THE VIEWERS YOU POSSIBLY LOST FOR THAT ABYSMAL ATTEMPT IN INVOLVING YOURSELF IN POLITICS! GET A LIFE!

He was the one actually who posted a video from youtube repeatedly saying "WWE.com can suck my dick".

owenbrown 04-22-2008 11:06 PM

...and if they have me arrested for posting a thread on their message board (jokingly) about Cena being released, then I am gonna sue their asses.

El Fangel 04-22-2008 11:31 PM

I made a few remarks about wrestlers in general, which I believe fall under freedom of speech.

owenbrown 04-22-2008 11:55 PM

I have officially boycotted all WWE programming because of their lack of ability in some cases to take a joke.

The burden of responsibility falls on the WWE for the posts on its messageboard, not the poster.

Ruien 04-23-2008 12:10 AM

HAHAHAHA, so that was the point of the forums. Lure people in, say there are no mods, and poof we got ourselves a lawsuit. If the ppv's are not bought, money will be taken with other methods.

How so?

Jeritron 04-23-2008 12:16 AM

I made the comment "Why isn't Randy Savage on TV? I thought sleeping with the bosses daughter got you tons of tv time."
Only made 5 or 6 posts total on that place tho, and posted no attacks or porn

Jeritron 04-23-2008 12:17 AM

OH NO

If they are presenting a message board that contains pornographic posts, the WWE is at fault for either a) not censoring/moderating their board, or b) not posting a content warning or age verifier prior to logging in. Since they claim to market towards children and that kids are seeing these images, then they are guilty of A. The poster cannot be arrested for exercising free speech. Banned or censored, yes. But again, that falls under A.

U-Warrior 04-23-2008 12:21 AM

God I fucking hate wwe.

No wonder BDC loves them, they're both nazis.

DarKCentaur 04-23-2008 12:22 AM

Another example: let's say a girl flashes on live TV, during the Today Show or something. She can't be arrested for exposing herself on TV. However, the Today Show can get into trouble for allowing that to air. See what I'm getting at?

KingofOldSchool 04-23-2008 12:26 AM

That's not true, the person doing that is legally liable for doing such act. The website/show/whatever is only responsible if they knew what was happening and/or did not do anything to stop it.

So if someone posts child porn on TPWW, Triple A would be held responsible for it and not the poster who posted it? Yeah I don't see that flying.

Jeritron 04-23-2008 12:27 AM

This dude probably did something really bad. On the day they closed posting, I recalled seeing like every thread spammed with like 100 posts from the same dude

You're changing the facts.

Pornography, in and of itself, is NOT illegal. Therefore, it falls under free speech. Child porn most certainly is, and yes, the poster would be held liable then. Although Triple A would probably want to censor and report that as fast as he could.

However, merely posting porn on a public website is not a criminal charge. I'm surprised the authorities actually detained this guy (perhaps the law is different in Dublin?) The burden falls on the website to either moderate their board, or properly warn visitors about offensive content. WWE did neither, and are trying to force liability on this guy.

No, DarKCentaur posted an example where a girl flashing on live TV would not get her in trouble. Last time I check that would be violating public decency laws. Not to mention if someone under the age of 18 views said pornography then that is illegal as well.

I'm thinking the same thing, because that story wasn't clear at all.

KingofOldSchool 04-23-2008 12:38 AM

Not to mention Pornography is probably against the WWE Fan Nations TOS which probably has a line in the user agreement where they can prosecute if they break any of them.

That's what I'm getting at. It's illegal for the TV station to AIR that. That's why we have the FCC. She would get in trouble for public indecency, yes, but there is no burden of responsibility on her for any minors that might see it. That falls on the network.

rob11 04-23-2008 01:31 AM

That Dave Anchorking made like 100 threads in a row saying the same thing. I'm suprised he got arrested for it.

TerranRich 04-23-2008 02:14 AM

I agree wholeheartedly with DarKCentaur. There is nothing wrong with posting porn. It's perfectly legal. So what if WWE's major fanbase is children? That doesn't matter. If they want to get so bent out of shape over this shit, then moderate the fucking boards from the get-go. Don't leave it open. WWE are a bunch of fucktards for thinking only 12 year olds would post pro-Cena threads and discuss shit rationally. PFFT.

#BROKEN Hasney 04-23-2008 02:38 AM

In other news, Frank Trigg has been arrested for posting naked pictures of himself. :shifty:

This is even funnier considering your views on pedophilia.

NoRoolz 04-23-2008 09:31 AM

Is the guy who got arrested the one who kept posting that video?

'WWE.COM CAN SUCK.MY.DICK. SUCK.MY.DICK'

Also someone was posting scat porn on there lol and I think the thread was called 'Petition to have John Cena fired' or something

NoRoolz 04-23-2008 09:32 AM

Did anyone on TPWW post porn and stuff?

I mean EVERYONE was spamming but most people were just being stupid like pretending to be Super Eric

Londoner 04-23-2008 09:37 AM

Whoever said in the other thread 'this is a disaster waiting to happen' was spot on.

BigDaddyCool 04-23-2008 10:28 AM

owenbrown, settle the fuck down.

I think this is pretty hilarious. People thought they were all hilarious and cool by being dickheads on the WWE's message board and they got punked. Arrested is a bit harsh, but it's still *ahem* "Pretty ROFL".

TerranRich 04-24-2008 01:01 AM

It is quite ROFL.
