A demo went up on marketplace today, haven't had a chance to go through it yet though.

Pretty good tbh. It's abit weird... can't describe it. It feels like its the game to a movie. but there's no movie, if that makes sense...

You're about right on, buddy. This is the Lucas approved story of what happens between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. So yeah, the game is sort of a movie.

TBH I wasn't all that impressed.

That AT or w/e they are called, at the end of the demo is a beast on the hardest demo difficulty. Physics system is amazing. I love holding RT and then pressing x. Throws lightsaber at them while they are in the air :D.

While the game looks extremely fun (watched DS play it but didn't actually give it a try myself), it admittedly looks like a tech demo for the capabilities of the Euphoria engine. Not to say the game isn't capable on its own.. just saying it seems sort of what FarCry was to Crytek.

Could get repetitive if that's all there is to the game.

I can see me getting it and getting rid of it after completing it. No multiplayer, after story is done it's over IMO

Not really, they aren't. Most games are usually a product of an engine. The company behind the Euphoria engine has yet to really have a product showcase what the engine is possible. GTA IV touched on it, and did some cool things. But Force Unleashed seems to really showcase the features, and was focused on greatly before the game was even at this point. I still remember watching the tech videos of the company behind Force Unleashed showing off destructible parts, and how the AI grabbed onto each other or objects because of the Euphoria engine.

Euphoria is not middleware. It's a product made by a company that works in conjunction with the companies that want to use it in order to get the best out of it.

FarCry was a game created for the purpose of showcasing their made from scratch engine. Hell, it came for free with a number of PC hardware products. Again, not to say it wasn't a good game on its own.. but it was certainly a demo for the purpose of selling their engine. I wouldn't doubt if they've made more money off licensing the engine than they have the actual game.

So basically, Force Unleashed 'feels' like a tech demo, because of all the focus they put on the engine prior to now. Regardless, it still looks like a fun as hell game.

The DMM concept seems to be what they showcased the most. Euphoria is sweet, but it hardly seems the focus of the demos, let alone the game.

It's not bad but it's not something I would pay full price for. Yeah, it's pretty cool to see how some things get destroyed, but I was getting bored before the end even happened.

I do love the Euphoria engine.

Loved the demo, didn't last long enough though. Will be getting this when it comes out.

Thats my the only thing keeping me from getting it. Im really pumped but I have a fear that this is one of those games that can be completed in two - three sittings.

After that I dont really know if there is any replay value other than to just fuck around with throwing people.

Still had assassins creed tho... That turned out great. No sarcasm in that if it sounds like it... Really was a good game.

Glad I have Gamepass at Blockbuster. I can keep it as long as I want. :cool:

A few Holy Shit moments for me in the demo....

1. Throwing the bombs back at the rebel guards who throw them.

2. In the first big room area when the platform rises with a bunch of troopers on it I took one of the Tie Fighters from the ceiling and smashed it on them killing them all.

3. In the outside bridge area I was waiting for a tie fighter to come by. When I saw him off in the distance. I grabbed one of the bridge supports and force pushed it out nailing the tie fighter.

so it's half life 2 with the extra gravity gun effects always on, and instead of scenarios and stuff you have jedi's.

Seeing a stormtrooper flying through the air and right into the path of a TIE fighter makes me smile.

You can compare any game with half life 2... Runescape is half life 2 with worse graphics, no guns and no cars and pretty much a hell of alot shitty

Force Unleashed isn't geting any love from reviewers. IGN gives it a 7.4 or something and EGM gave it a C+. Not looking good and I really had my hopes up for this one :/

Yeah save your money, you can beat this in a rental. It only takes about 7-8 hours to beat.

If you must get it, get it at Toys R Us as you will get a $20 giftcard with purchase.

Well I bought it anyways and.....it is greatness. The things you can pull off with the force are worth the price alone. The story is also impressive as it fills in the gaps between 3 and 4 and makes sense doing it. Loving this so far. Now to find that ultra sexy black light sabre crystal....

Only about 10 people at my store for midnight. Either the game length or reviews scared them away.

I'll be opening this up sometime today. But I'm juggling Yakuza 2 and Mercs 2 right now.

Fucking awesome game.

Meh.

The gameplay is okay, but not anything particularly special. All that hype about the new physics engine (which is impressive, don't get me wrong), but it's basically a half-assed God of War combined with a half-assed Psi Ops.

And it's probably just because I'm an original-Trilogy purist, but I absolutely hated the story. And the fact that it's getting declared canon by Lucas and KotOR didn't just makes me hate it even more.

Overall, it was worth renting, but I'm glad I didn't cough up the money to buy it.

Actually, I read somewhere that Kotor 1 and 2's Light side endings are canon. I'll have to look and see if I can find it again.

Yeah, the controls aren't as polished as god of war or devil may cry, and other similar action titles, but its not bad by any means, imo. Still mad fun.

Throwing wookies hundreds of feet off a cliff side never gets old.

I have to say, the story here is really good so far. Way better than I thought it would be. It definitely feels like star wars, and not like some random EU story. And the voice acting is perhaps the best I've ever heard in a game.

Just really cool and interesting characters, as well as some neat and unexpected plot twists.

So far I really like this.

Dude, black lightsabre for the fucking win. That shit is so sexy. Finished the game last night and am going back through again just to use the force in more imaginitive ways. So many incredible things you can do, only started to scratch some of the more amazing combos near the very end. For people who are far in the game, all I can say is STAR DESTROYER. OMG that shit was amazing.

My little cousin started playing yesterday and ended up beating it this morning. I havnt been able to play yet due to people over at the apt but first chance I get I will be playing it.

You won't be dissappointed.

I cannot say enough good things about the story, and how it's presented. The characters and their repoire with eachother are very reminicent of the original trilogy. I seriously enjoyed this story more than the first two prequel movies.

And again, Voicework is ridiculously good compared to other games. As are the facial animations.

Just on the last battle, sweet baby Jesus its so awesome.

Man, Starkiller wearing the sith stalker armor with a black lightsabre....is godly. They should have made a villain in one of the movies look EXACTLY like that.

Agreed. When you know who showed up, I was like YYYEEESSSSS. The only gripe I had was that the fight didn't last long enough.

After some of the reviews and responses, I wasn't sure I wanted to get this. Figured maybe I'd wait for it to come down in price or get it news.

So a friend of mine picked it up, and played the shit out of it. He brought it over so I could try it, and I am fucking hooked.

Yeah, personally, I think the reviews are a bit harsh. It has flaws, but I think it at least deserves an 8.0

I dunno, the hype around this game everyone was expecting something on a whole other level. And to be honest we got a God of War clone. A kick ass game no doubt, but it's got a ton of glitches and outside of the force grab mechanics doesn't really do anything new. I really dig this game, 7.0's is pretty fair.

I actually hope they make another game like this. I want to use these force mechanics again on other unsuspecting people.

I want a game that's more RPG-Y. I understand that this is telling a story, but I want a game where you can choose your appearance and fighting style and shit while doing some of the epic shit like throwing around TIE fighter wings.

Bought this for Wii because KK liked it and he hates everything.

I was not disappointed. It's so fun with the Wii. Just for the second time and stopped playing because I knew I'd keep playing forever and I eventually need sleep.

Played some awesome Duels with some friends who came over. ftw.

The Duel Mode on the Wii is my new addiction. I need to unlock more Jedis. My brother and I threw each others around this afternoon for hours with our force powers. It's awesome.

Rented it and got bored with it.

September 30, 2008 - Can't get enough of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed? LucasArts has you covered. The latest addition to the Star Wars universe will see two rounds of downloadable content before the end of the year on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network.

The first available download will feature additional costumes and character models for use in the single-player campaign, including Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Kit Fisto. The second round, due later this year, will include a new single-player mission, set in the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant. The Secret Apprentice turns to the Jedi Temple to learn more about his father, and "while searching through the rubble of the destroyed building he must confront his inner demons," LucasArts said in a news release announcing the upcoming content.

The camera angles in boss fights can really piss me off. I was fighting the last of the Jedi you have to take out, and not only can she go offscreen, but so can you.

When I was fighting Vader I kept losing him because of the camera angles. Took forever to beat him.

Then I chose to fight and I have yet to beat his quick, force lightning using ass.

Okay, so the scene is annoying as fuck and evidently glitched. In fact, during the whole bit, it wouldn't pop the final sequence up several times in a row. The scene would otherwise be pretty easy--I didn't know what was wrong until I knew what SHOULD be happening.

Still, this game is a complete blast.

Had the same issue, only had to see it once to realize what was going on, but it was shitty. Lots of glitches in the game though. Falling through the floors, tracers, etc.

He must have used some sort of Jedi Mind trick, to make me not see it.

I have yet to encounter a glitch.

I didn't know that, either. Probably would help if I had access to the manual. I thought there was only one way to block.

Targeting is ass. One of the things that should have been a lot better. When it works, it's great. When it doesn't, it blows more than Hanso in a tranny bar.

Beat it, was fun. Solid 8, but it really didn't have any replay value for me.
