I want to rejuvenate TPWW (main page)
 

Serious about it this time. I am going to re-design the site probably and try to add new features and whatnot. The main thing I want to do, though, is integrate it with the forum. Like hook it up with vbulletin somehow so that members of the forum can post comments on everything posted right on the page and things like that. Does anyone know of a good program or system or whatever for that?

Also want to set up a big video library section that can just be things from YouTube basically, but like categorized. Like a section that is "The Best Of" a specific topic or "Top 10 ______ Videos" or whatever, you know.

The themes section is also gonna be rejuvenated with the help of TerranRich probably and Xylot themes. Talked to him about it a couple months ago.

Also want to update the information database. The real names section, heights/weights, birthdays, all that stuff needs to be made current.

Perhaps a trivia section can be added, maybe guess the wrestler again, or anything else you guys can think of.

Also hopefully want to get the help of some of you guys to keep the newsboard up to date so we can have exclusive news.

TPWW still somehow gets like 2,500 unique visitors a day to the main page which is weird, so I feel like it's worth being revived and made into a decent site again. Only problem is I haven't really watched wrestling in like 5 years so I have no idea what is going on. So that is why I want the help of you guys.

Does anyone have any other ideas to make the site better? Would anyone be willing to help keep the newsboard regularly updated? Would anyone be willing to help update the info section? Or set up YouTube video compilations. Stuff like that. Obviously not going to be a one man job and it will and should be a collaborative effort.

I am just throwing this out for now to see what kind of response it'll get. Depending on that, probably won't have the site re-designed and completely updated for another month or two. I'll keep this thread stickied for a few days.

Official recognition of the TPWW Kliq as an organ of power, with modship to BDC, would be a definite improvement.

Probably should include the Better Wrestler HOF.

Quick TV results (aside from blog-like updates) for those who missed an event but rather not read an essay about it.

I have alot of WWE theme music tracks, so however you wanna use them is cool.

Sections for various wrestling related media (games, music). Fallen Angel has this game reviews thing that can be integrated (I did one review if you wanna see an example of how that can work). Same for music - ratings, reviews.

And we should be alot nicer to new members, even if we are not, to increase traffic and recognition. These forums are scary. Cheesy as it sounds those 'Introduction Threads' not only spares newbs on creating an entirely new thread, but its a nice spot for us regs to say yo to the kids.

Those are the main things I look for in a wrestling site. TPWW already has the last one down. Perhaps you could get even more returning visitors by highlighting current discussion in the forums and make how good these forums are, the main draw for the site.

Then there are all those forum features that could be emphasised on the site that people have mentioned before: Better Wrestler, Rate the..., TPWW Hall of Fame, etc.

I don't know how important stuff like 'real name' or 'weight', etc. is. I certainly would be looking elsewhere (wikipedia) for that stuff before I ever think about going to a website.

Not that I disagree with this, but the site looks like shit if all the info is out of date, so there's definitely a reason to get someone on it.

Also Terran getting theme section up to form would rock, after all that was the draw the brought most of us here. (At least the people from before the email...)

Better wrestler could be a poll on the main page, although I like getting the feedback in the forums as to why they voted, it's my reason for doing them. We could have a little section for the better wrestler hall of fame with some article about the career of said wrestler. Dunno. Or we could say fuck the HoF and just have kick ass in depth bios that would put OWW to shame.

Noid writing some of his fantasy bookings but make him make them even more out there and detailed than usual. Could honestly be hilarious if he was trying to book something outlandish.

Or just articles in general. (Provided they go through a screening process.) I think there's something to having regular interesting colums though.

Seems like it was mentioned but daily trivia would be cool.

DVD reviews would be a good thing, they release alot of them now and they aren't always good. I bet mrslackalack would dig that idea.

While I hate Kane Knight his Ruse Reports have always been over and would likely be a hit on the main page as he is the typical smark, hates everything no matter what, thinks he's better than those in charge, etc.

New banners is a must. They're way outdated.

Photo galleries would be nice, particularly of the divas/knockouts, seems to be over on other sites anyway. And considering most wrestling fans are prepubescent I can see why.

Indy themes, bios, and pics (RoH at least) would make the site appear cool and trendy. Underground even, which can never hurt. IMAGE. Same way having ECW coverage did back in the day.

MMA might also be something to consider. I think all the wrestling sites cover MMA now a days. Dont frequent them often so I'm not positive.

As far as you wanting youtube's made or whatever I dunno who could do that. I know Jabba CAN but I dunno if he would be into it, I find it doubtful. We could definitlyfind random vids to post though. You could also post multimedia links, like megaupload links and stuff. I've suggested it several times but a multimedia forum would be awesome and would attract more members to the forum, but it should be to where you have to have 1,000 posts to get in or something. The problem is your going to have people trying to spam their way to that number so the mods would be banning more people. DUNNO.

Not much of a brainstorm, just the obvious really but I don't htink any of these things would be a bad idea.

And as I said before I'll help with as much of this as you're willing to green light.

What about doing some more info on indy shows? - I dunno how or what, but I know, USA wise, indy shows have good wrestlers but we know jack about them, specially here in the UK. I'm sure someone here could put some info up about some shows here too. Like a schedule for shows, and when u clcik the link, the info about it / review etc.

Not at my computer now so I'll respond more in depth later, but one other idea I had is like... sort of a "Digg" system. Like if there is a good thread or someone posts a good opinion thread or whatever, people can "digg" it and if it gets enough, it'll be moved to the main page or whatever. Only problem is I have no idea how to set any of this shit up.

I was thinking about this and instead of post it could be done through the rep system so people would have to focus on being quility and not quanity.
Forum front page interactivity is definitly a hot idea.

But I don't know much about coding. I've never been able to play around with it to see what's possible, so I dunno. Gonna go research this though.

There should be a creative section for sure. Maybe a section dedicated to users who create wrestling graphics and wrestling music videos?

I figure that would be nice and interactive? Get some nice exposure of there graphical/video works and get feedback/star ratings or something like that? Just a thought.

I remember LC put together a TPWW 50 greatest/memorable moments in wrestling, with input from the forum but didn't finish. I could do something like that. My idea for the main page? Id have some people tour the gossip and headline pages every day, and post all the news on here. Right or wrong, If you can advertise having all the wrestling news on one site, it can't fail surely.

I dont think having all the wrestling news on one site is a possible because u will have to copy news from other sites and u can get in trouble for plagirarism. I think u can get more traffic if u get ring tones and temes rolling here because ppl like them and get a divas section with pics because we all know sexy divas = ratings.

Coming to the site to read up on wrestler's real names only gets you in once really, regular updates will keep them coming back. I like reading Loose Cannon's stuff and enjoyed Kapoutman and I think CoE did something as well. Then to completely blow everyone out of the water, bring back Harvey and Adam Kirk. Even if Rob is writing about UFC and Kirk about RoH, at least it is something.

Oh yeah and why does a team of people not do a serious all out tipsters on the main page where people can join, gain points in a league system each month etc.

Well even if it was something less time consuming about UFC maybe getting some of the other UFC fans on the forums involved. Even if it's results being posteed or something and then maybe a review posted every so often etc.

I'd love TPWW to have PPV results right after each match. I went through a period where I didn't see a ppv live for a few years. All I wanted to do was fine results right after the PPV was done, but I always got shitty sites with crap loads of pop ups. Sometimes I wouldn't even be able to find results right after the PPV easily. Didn't TPWW used to have PPV results?

I've just started to watch them regularly again, but sometimes don't care enough to watch ones. I'll usually read through the threads created in this forum when I'm not doing anything, but I won't read through the whole thread if I'm out while the ppv is on(too many damn pages).

Something fairly small... I'd like it set so that changing your forum color scheme preferences also reaches to the TPWW.net main page. Red and yellow hurts my eyes and offends my soul.

I used to love the Play by Plays that ya did back in the day, Trips. Maybe someone could take up doing that. I'd do it, but I haven't watched a RAW live in years because of my work hours. :(

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you lately about themes, Triple A.

On Xylot Themes, I have a Theme of the Week, updated every Monday morning. Maybe you could also add that to your site? I could provide you with some PHP code that you could ease in gently, and it would call up the Theme of the Week info from my site, and display it on yours in whatever format you want.

Then there could be a Themes of the Week archive that has all of the previous TOTW entries in list form.

I know you told me, however, that you would want to stick to themes not owned by WWE or TNA (like production themes, commercial songs used as themes, etc.), and that's wise. I could either (1) force my Themes of the Week to be non-WWE/TNA-owned, or (2) I could make a separate Theme of the Week specifically for TPWW. I think the latter option is the better one.

I will find time in the next few days to compile a list of all of the themes that neither WWE nor TNA own, and then maybe you could even choose from that list every week, or give me a list of what each Theme of the Week could be.

Let me know.

Finally, being a web designer & developer, I can help out with some of the coding involved in revamping the main site. I do good work. :)

Dude... absolutely on all counts. I love the theme of the week idea. It could even be a WWE theme if it's just every week, I think that would def be fine. But if you could make a list of all the non-WWE owned themes that would also be awesome. TNA is actually fine too.

And I am definitely going to take you up on that web development help offer. :) That is one thing I think I am definitely going to need.

Do you have any suggestions on any specific software I could use for news and features posting and stuff? I want to scrap the current system because I personally hate it and it constantly screws up and I am thinking of just using Wordpress but I never have so I'm not sure if it's fully customizable like I want it to be or whatever. Anything you know of that's better?

For the record I am reading all the suggestions on here!!!!!!!! I will go more into detail about stuff soon. The first/main thing I want to do is set up some sort of re-design/re-programming of the site and once that's in place and if everything is working like I want it to work in my head, we can get individual features and stuff integrated into the site in a good way.
