Spoilers: RAW... IS....

ADAMLE!

DarKCentaur 07-28-2008 11:09 PM

Mike Adamle, heel GM. That is umm, AWESOME

KingofOldSchool 07-28-2008 11:10 PM

All Hail...The Ayatollah of Jamaican Me Crazy!

KingofOldSchool 07-28-2008 11:16 PM

Seriously, they could have gone the straight up GM route. But with Adamle they give the dimension of "Adamle tries to be evil and have power, yet he just causes more anarchy".

It's perfect.

KingofOldSchool 07-28-2008 11:17 PM

The Age of Adamle is here!

Xero 07-28-2008 11:19 PM

For some strange reason, during that pause Paul Heyman was going through my mind. I was expecting the original ECW theme for a second there.

SammyG 07-28-2008 11:22 PM

I was just expecting Shane to point to himself, or just rush to the back, have his theme play again, and come out.

Xero 07-28-2008 11:23 PM

Honestly, in terms of storyline quality, the only way this could have been worse is if it were Vince himself.

Of course, we all know that he's going to be the one to break up the "anarchy" eventually. It's so obvious even the biggest marks could see it.

Shadow 07-28-2008 11:29 PM

I would like some poor slub to get blasted by Snitksy becasue Adamel was talking to him and Snitksy couldn't understand him.

that'd be sweet

Theo Dious 07-28-2008 11:34 PM

Finally, a GM who will elevate us some dick.

Theo Dious 07-28-2008 11:39 PM

Incidentally, does this mean that the ECW booth is going to be Taz and Styles again?

Johnny Vegas 07-28-2008 11:42 PM

Like i said in the RAW thread, this is gold is the making. Adamle can arrive to the arena in nice cars, have women coming in and out of his office, wear smooth clothes like blazers, open neck button-down collar shirts and true religion jeans with Aviators or Oakleys. Like, that "Burn Notice" look. Be the asshole who is so "fly" that you can't really say shit to him. He can turn real "edgy", which fans eat up anyway.

Plus, he could just come down some RAWs and enter himself in the commentating booth just to add more heat, sitting next to Michael Cole and King. Kind of like that "I dare you MFs to say something while i'm out here or i'll fire your ass.." I love what RAW/WWE is doing since the draft. All RAW needs right now is a MEGA heel like HHH/Rock was that can hang around him backstage. BTW, it wouild be fucking BOSS if in front of his office he had a security dude who has to let everyone in before they can talk to him.

Lock Jaw 07-28-2008 11:58 PM

I can see a whole "Mayor from Buffy" thing going on. Adamle acts all wholesome and corny and acts like he likes everybody and everyone likes him but at the same time he does evil things.

Executioner 07-29-2008 12:17 AM

WAHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH......this is freakin sweet!

Shaggy 07-29-2008 12:20 AM

The whole night I was telling my cousin that it was going to be Adamle....

I just kinew it was gonna be him the minute he showed up earlier on in the show.

I cant wait for the upcomming weeks.

Volare 07-29-2008 12:25 AM

Sure as hell gonna be a twist.

Fox 07-29-2008 12:57 AM

He needs to do his best Steve Jobs impersonation, or at least Noah Wyle pretending to be Steve Jobs impersonation.

"This WWE RAW... is the future!"

Volare 07-29-2008 12:58 AM

I got a feeling he's gonna show favoritism towards Kofi.

That'd be too awesome. We'll get Todd Grisham and Tazz.

Dorkchop 07-29-2008 01:10 AM

He got little reaction. I like the idea of him doing more damage to Raw as GM than Raw GMless. He could be a typical boss where he plays Mr. Nice Guy, but is oblivious to the fact that he's doing a terrible job and everyone hates him.

It would be a nice change from the self admitting assholes like Vince, Heyman, and Bischoff.

It's ridiculous, but I'm excited to tune in next week.

Ninti the Mad 07-29-2008 01:32 AM

It COULD work but it probably wont.

If he keeps his robot voice, it could be pretty ROFL.

Mayor Wilson, awesome.

Juan 07-29-2008 02:08 AM

I held back from reading spoilers on this for about 4 hours, and it's fuckin' ADAMLE?!?

Gotta say, I'm a little disappointed.

screech 07-29-2008 02:26 AM

I'm excited. If nothing else, it gives him something to do that isn't trying to call a match. On another note, I'd like to see Josh Matthews head to ECW.

That's because the WWE fucked up the actual announcing of the new GM. They had him go at the apron before Shane even came out (which was fucking retarded). It was more of a "we kind of knew that was going to happen an hour ago" more than anything.

KingofOldSchool 07-29-2008 09:46 AM

I ROFL at Shane announcing Adamle and Adamle is already in the ring and goes "Hi guys, Batsita...John Cena..." with a shit eating grin.

Innovator 07-29-2008 09:48 AM

He tried to touch Cena and Cena moved away...amazing

Sebastian 07-29-2008 10:45 AM

This is a stupid choice I think.

Adamle does have what it takes to be a GM and I think maybe WWE just did this for laughs and hopefully the real GM is revealed later.

Adamle lacks the charisma to be a GM, he sucks ass!

I know a good choice for GM and I was kinda hoping maybe WWE would see it. I think Stone Cold is not doing anything right now and I'm pretty sure he and the WWE are cool and I dont think he would mind a paycheck. Austin would have been an AMAZING choice for GM and the best possible it would be so cool.

I mean, it would be way better what they did. If Shane said, "Here comes the new GM..." and Austin's music hit, the crowd would have EXPLODED instead when Adamle was announced the crowd was quiet because they were like "WTF" and thats not good.

I mean, if u think of it in storyline terms, who better to restore order than Austin? Even better, they should have had Cena and Batista brawl and GM Austin walks down the ring and stunners them both taking them both out, grabs the mic and says that he is starting to put order in place starting right NOW.

Seriously I dunno why the WWE sometimes doesn't do the obvious money maker best choice!

Adamle? COME ON! I KNOW wwe can do better, I hope they jus kidding around.

BigDaddyCool 07-29-2008 10:55 AM

Personally I like it. The only better choice would have been Adam West.

Mr. Monday Morning 07-29-2008 11:44 AM

Seriously, jesus christ, give it a chance at least.

"OMG THIS SUX IT SHULD BE STONE COLD OR REGAL OR THE ROCK"

Yeah because they haven't done that before. This has pretty neat potential if you think about it. Come on, idiot savant Mike Adamle is fucking gold.

Mayor Adam West? Or Batman

addy2hotty 07-29-2008 12:58 PM

You know what, I actually love this. I'm actually looking forward to next week, and I may even watch ECW.

'How you doing Dave...' straight after the annoucement was pure gold.

Can't it be a combination? Plus, it is the same guy.

Hanso Amore 07-29-2008 01:25 PM

Honestly, this good be amazing, or it could be shitty.

If they play it off like he is pissed at the fans for giving him shit, and the guys in the back for making him a backstage joke ( a little shoot) and now he is going to make them pay.

He can start screwing the faces to piss off the fans. Make a degree that the Refs much now count Uno Dos Adios instead of 1-2-3 and fire anyone who says no. He will degree that moves will have new names of his choosing, no longer will there be Sweet Chin music, there will only be a Elevated Foot Kick. German Suplex, only a Backwards Throw Toss. He will book jobbers into the main event not knowing who they are.

"Oh Man, this Super Crazy guy is what Raw is all about, get out there and win the Lombardi Title Belt."

It could be amazing.

instead he will just be incompetent or something, like he will book people for matches that make no sense and mess a bunch of names up.

We will get to see the First ever Jamaican Me Crazy in a Cell match though.

RGWhat316 07-29-2008 01:39 PM

That dumass gave away that he was the GM last night, LOL.

According to a report at PWInsider.com, at last night's Raw tapings in Washington, DC, Mike Adamle pretty much gave it away to the fans in live attendance that he was the new General Manager. As soon as Shane McMahon's music hit, Mike left the announcers booth and grabbed a ring mic but was told to go back to the announcing booth. Once Shane McMahon teased the new GM was backstage, Adamle quickly jumped into the ring.

Way to contradict yourself there, chief. He's making way too much money to suck at the broadcast table, so why not give him something else to do?

They [pretty much] did that already when they made him Linda's "assistant" back in '99 (or somewhere around that time). And again in 2003 when he was co-GM of RAW with Eric. He did the same thing he always does: stun people, drink beer and do the exact opposite of his counterpart (Vince/Eric). Would you really want to see that again? He'd have no one to combat over power unless Shane-O sticks around, and it's not as much fun unless he's shitting on somebody.

The crowd was quiet because they already knew. Mike jumped up from the announce table too soon, so the crowd knew who it was before Shane even opened his mouth.

Again, he does that every time he's given some kind of power. It's pretty much the exact same thing over and over again. Were you not paying attention when they did this?

You still haven't figured this out? Really? Even so, RAW has been a lot better lately due to unpredictability. Ratings have been up and it's been quite entertaining. You want to risk throwing that away by doing something that's been done twice already just because you don't like Adamle?

They have been doing better recently and it shows. Jesus Christ, kid give this a chance. It's something different and it could be entertaining. It will be interesting to see where they go with this and how Mike does in the role. And at least we won't see Dave get his 2000th title shot at SummerSlam. That's something to be happy about right off the bat.

Adamle is gonna rule as a GM

Shaggy 07-29-2008 04:46 PM

I enjoy the choice because I was hoping that they would pick someone no one would really expect.

I was gonna be pissed if it was Stone Cold because I hate the guy...

Shaggy 07-29-2008 04:47 PM

Also....was I the only person hoping that the end of Raw would have gone something like this...

*Adamle is revealed as GM*

Adamle: "Hello guys, well I would like to inform you that at Summerslam it will be you John Cena.....Vs Batista......In the ELIMINATOR!!!!"

Hanso Amore 07-29-2008 05:48 PM

LOL

Even better, he makes matches where they need to use pugil sticks, roll around the ring in a ball cage and shit.

LOL

PullMyFinger 07-29-2008 06:07 PM

I'm gonna give it a week or two before I declare this THE GREATEST MOMENT IN THE HISTORY OF OUR SPORT

Anybody Thrilla 07-30-2008 04:59 PM

If Vickie Guerrero works as a GM, the sky's the limit for Adamle. He's actually a pretty funny guy from some of the backstage skits I've seen. I look forward to this.

MCEazy 07-30-2008 05:18 PM

Well this will ether be the most genius decision the writers have ever made or the shittiest... I'm leaning toward the latter.

NeanderCarl 07-30-2008 06:08 PM

Mike Adamle, oblivious smarmy bastard, the Michael Scott/ David Brent of the WWE management office... the potential is endless.

NeanderCarl 07-30-2008 06:10 PM

Anyway, to those reporting that Adamle RUINED the GM announcement by standing up when Shane came out, and hopping in the ring with a mic... he's an announcer. Announcers do that all the time, particularly during big moments. Fans watching Adamle enter the ring with the mic may well have said "shit! Adamle's the GM!"... or on the other hand they may have just thought that the broadcaster entering the ring with a mic was just doing his normal job. Where's the beef?

Xero 07-30-2008 06:16 PM

An announcer going into the ring, especially mid-segment, is very rare in WWE. Announcers are used for either backstage segments, bikini contests or storylines. They weren't backstage and I'm damn sure nobody was expecting to see Batista and Cena in bikinis.

Stickman 07-30-2008 06:53 PM

Yep, it's gunna suck some more.

KingofOldSchool 07-30-2008 08:07 PM

I think Kofi Kingston's going to be given the Contra Code by Adamle.

Punk vs. Kingston at every PPV until Kofi wins the World Title.

All I'm saying is it was possible that a few or maybe many people instantly assumed it was him, but it would have been nothing out of the ordinary for an announcer to hop into the ring to conduct an interview. If they DID expect him straight away, they were actively looking for the swerve.

Xero 07-30-2008 08:17 PM

Considering it's a rare occurrence, yes, it WOULD be out of the ordinary.

Anyway, let's be realistic here, most people probably didn't even notice anyway, and no, it wouldn't have "ruined" it, it was going to be a mixture of confusion, boos and silence once they made the announcement any way you look at it. I agree it's an over reaction, but not for the reasons you state.

NeanderCarl 07-30-2008 09:37 PM

Just because it doesn't happen as often as it once did doesn't mean that next time you see Michael Cole climb the steps, mic in hand, you're going to suddenly think "OMG! Cole's gonna turn fuckin' heel!" Doesn't mean the next time the new number one contender is going to be announced and Jim Ross stands up, you're gonna think "No Freakin' Way! Good old JR is going to challenge the champion!!"... and it shouldn't mean that you'd assume Mike Adamle is going to be named GM just because he approached the ring as an announcement was about to made. If ever a mic man is required, it's when a big angle is going down.

But then, maybe these same people thought Mean Gene Okerlund was going to be the third Outsider at Bash at the Beach '96 too.

Anybody Thrilla 07-30-2008 10:22 PM

Who the fuck cares? It's not like he said he was the GM at the top of the show. Close enough.

darkpower 07-31-2008 02:31 AM

There was a TON of that kind of thing in 1997, actually (when watching the MNW shows they play on WWE 24/7, wish they would post new ones of them more often, though). Especially on WCW, you ALWAYS seemed to see Mean Gene going to the ring for an interview on Nitro or something like that. So yeah, I do think it was overreaction there.

Well, that and how don't we know that it was Vince McMahon or someone else that told him to go to the ringside apron at that point before the show or in his headset at that point?

Nonetheless, this will be an awesome reign. I can see Vicki and Adamle feuding over stars and that and trying to be the bigger asshole or something, or Adamle could REALLY cause mayhem by having Raw invade ECW or SD and fuck with someone else's show. There's a ton of potential with this thing.
