You'll be fired, you'll see! *More WWE Releases*

Stevie Richards, The Highlanders, Cherry, Colin Delaney, and referee Wes Adams are gone.

Xero 08-15-2008 01:27 PM

Wow, I thought for sure Stevie was pretty well protected.

KingofOldSchool 08-15-2008 01:29 PM

And I guess Cherry has joined Domino in the unemployment line.

Londoner 08-15-2008 01:29 PM

Didn't expect Richards to go.

KingofOldSchool 08-15-2008 01:29 PM

And Colin Delaney.

Xero 08-15-2008 01:33 PM

So I guess the Diva's search is just around the corner?

Probably, that's why they released Colin Delaney. They don't want one of their male wrestlers to weigh less than the Deever Search whores.

BigDaddyCool 08-15-2008 01:37 PM

Seriously, Colin Delaney? He was just starting to pick up steam. Wow. I'm not suprised by the Highlanders, they were treated like jobbers, plus the whole TNA thing. Anyhow, WWE is doing a lot of late summer cleaning.

I'm not upset by any of those releases, but I wish them all the best of luck in their future endeavors.

That pasty white jobber? Yeah, good riddance.

Surprisingly, Funaki still has a job.

Londoner 08-15-2008 01:40 PM

Delaney is a future TNA world champ.

TerranRich 08-15-2008 01:41 PM

Cherry? :'(

BigDaddyCool 08-15-2008 01:42 PM

I'm only suprised about Colin because his entire gimmick all summer long has been trying to get a WWE contract. Now that he has one, they up and realease him. I suppose he could still show up and beg for his job back...

Afterlife 08-15-2008 01:42 PM

I'm surprised by all of those. Less so the Highlanders, but Stevie? What the hell?

They were teasing him. They had him get his ass kicked to get a contract, then when he does...they turn around and fire him.

BigDaddyCool 08-15-2008 01:44 PM

At least Boogen is still gainfully employeed...I mean independently contracted :shifty:

Paranoid Rattlesnake 08-15-2008 01:45 PM

Why are so many getting fired?

Afterlife 08-15-2008 01:45 PM

They do this once every couple years.

They are sending a clear message. I mean Brenden Walker is on TV for a week, then fired. Colin gets his ass kicked for month on end for "free" only to be released after he gets his first check.

Cutting dead wieght, stream lining the company. Honestly Stevie, the Highlanders, and Colin weren't going to amount to anything. Especially Stevie, he is just a jobber as of the past 5 years.

BigDaddyCool 08-15-2008 01:48 PM

Bastard koos, you beat me to it. Did you have a happy birthday?

Afterlife 08-15-2008 01:50 PM

I love it when ppl say "he's just a jobber" in reference to Stevie. The crowds all eat him up and everybody loves him except the company. You know, the company that snubbed him every time he started gaining any momentum. But, sure, it's his fault he "wasn't going anywhere".

But unlike Not Roddy Piper 1 and 2 and pre-teen boy who wondered into a wrestling ring, Stevie was at least somewhat over.

Juan 08-15-2008 01:53 PM

Stevie Richards :(

thedamndest 08-15-2008 01:54 PM

Hardcore Holly, Val Venis, Super Crazy and Chuck Palumbo could go too. They will never amount to anything in the WWE.

thedamndest 08-15-2008 01:55 PM

Oh, and ECW should be canceled and merged with Raw and Smackdown rosters, but now we're just dreaming.

I agree on all counts, plus Hardcore is old now and had plenty of shots. Palumbo has had plenty too.

Shadow 08-15-2008 01:59 PM

Man.....I'm gonna miss the invisible Stevie Richards jokes.

Blitz 08-15-2008 02:10 PM

Nooooooooooo Stevie :'( and Cherry was hot as hell. Sucks.

Sad about Colin too, but at least he can return to Chikara now :y:

thedamndest 08-15-2008 02:24 PM

Deuce hasn't been fired yet. I wonder if they're having meetings about whether to call him Jimmy Snuka, jr. or Deuce Snuka.

Afterlife 08-15-2008 02:31 PM

He's not really "Jimmy Snuka, Jr" tho, is he?

#BROKEN Hasney 08-15-2008 02:38 PM

And Paul Wight was not the son of Andre The Giant. At least there is a connection in this case.

Loose Cannon 08-15-2008 02:41 PM

there's about 30 more guys I would like to add to this list

ClockShot 08-15-2008 03:48 PM

It was only a matter of time for The Highlanders. And here some of us in the RAW thread on monday thought were shocked to see they still working.

Never seen Cherry on tv since the draft. I guess that was a sign.

Could care less for Colin Delaney.

Stephen Richards. Yeah, I thought he had some friends in the company and thought he would be taken care of.

Oh well, how many weeks before they annouce the Diva Search of whatever plan they got cooked up?

screech 08-15-2008 04:01 PM

Sucks about Stevie, I loved watching him. He has a real passion for the business that comes out every time he's in the ring.

Highlanders getting cut doesn't surprise me at all, they really didn't do anything.

Colin's heel turn didn't go anywhere, but he was at least featured on the show so in that aspect it was surprising. It's not like he would have made it big.

Cherry was actually being used on SD so that's kind of a shock. I was interested to see how she did, but I guess I won't see it.

Of the guys thedamndest said, Super Crazy should definitely go first, with Hardcore Holly following closely behind. As for Val Venis, I've always been a fan so I'd be sad to see him go. I don't care for Chuck Palumbo one way or the other. I like watching him wrestle, but his characters always suck. I wouldn't miss him that much.

At least Funaki is still there and everyone loves Funaki.

You Taka that back! :shifty:

JT 08-15-2008 04:11 PM

Actually, if I recall, someone said that Hardcore Holly could be next on the chopping block as they don't see anymore use in him.

Xero 08-15-2008 04:13 PM

Hardcore Holly got in some trouble a while ago - which explains the lack of follow up with he and Rhodes - so there's a very good chance he's going to be gone by next weekend I'd say.

Disturbed316 08-15-2008 04:20 PM

Stevie Night Heat :(

Afterlife 08-15-2008 05:01 PM

If Stevie goes to TNA, I will actually watch TNA.

Xero 08-15-2008 05:07 PM

But you won't watch Stevie, because he's see-through*.

See? Instead of "Invisible"? Copyrights...

Loose Cannon 08-15-2008 05:20 PM

Stevie (or Steven) Richards was great in one role. The leader of the RTC. Possibly the highlight run of his career.

The MAC 08-15-2008 05:33 PM

wwe is preparing for the lawsuit.

Londoner 08-15-2008 06:00 PM

Khali should be fired, just watching his segment on smackdown with HHH and he's as shit as ever.

Xero 08-15-2008 06:05 PM

Khali: KHALI BIG! KHALI GET RAISE!?
Vince: You got it, big boy! ;)

FourFifty 08-15-2008 08:05 PM

God damn other fucker! The WWE needs more tag teams, not less! Let them work, let them do their thing. They're a solid team, and not just fodder for Snitsky, Umaga, and Cryme Tyme.

TerranRich 08-15-2008 09:26 PM

Gee, for a guy that is apparently a wrestling genius/god, Vince McMahon sure does hire a lot of people that he knows fuck all what to do with.

Lock Jaw 08-15-2008 09:53 PM

Referee Wes Adams was just on The Dirt Sheet, too! He was getting a major push!

FourFifty 08-16-2008 12:26 AM

I'm sure part of this is how Vince blew 3 million dollars on a contest that didn't boost ratings.

TerranRich 08-16-2008 02:21 AM

Oh, and yes, Deuce really is Jimmy Snuka's son, albeit adopted.

Naturally you'd make the comment out this contest, hows the money?

SammyG 08-16-2008 02:56 AM

lol Wes Adams? Isn't he the ref in the new Dirt Sheet that they interview?

I'm aware of that. I'm asking if his adoptive father had the audaccity to name his non-biological son "Jimmy Snuka, Jr."

You mean the only roll they gave him? Yes, he was fantastic in that. And he'd have been great in any subsequent rolls, had they been, you know, given to him.

Volare 08-16-2008 08:23 AM

Oh Come On!!!!! BWO!! BWO!! BWO!!

TerranRich 08-16-2008 08:40 AM

He was given the name James William Reiher, Jr. upon adoption, and is thus his official name.

Afterlife 08-16-2008 08:46 AM

That's ridiculous.

Afterlife 08-16-2008 08:46 AM

But, thank you.

Theo Dious 08-16-2008 10:00 AM

On the subject of Stevie, he could actually have a decent run in TNA.

Afterlife 08-16-2008 01:01 PM

If Christian can get fair treatment, I'm sure Stevie could, too.

Mooияakeя™ 08-16-2008 02:08 PM

I don't expect to see Venis go, more if anything moved somewhere to help with development in some way. I remember reading somewhere that he had really good relations back stage and is expected to have a job for life and has been moving to to a Road agent thing. Fuck dunno where I read that. - Hmmm, might have been Boone, so as I don't remember, yeah he could go.

Evil Vito 08-16-2008 02:19 PM

<font color=goldenrod>I don't even remember which ref Wes Adams was.

The Highlanders getting released doesn't surprise me, but now the only tag teams on Raw are Cryme Tyme and Simply Priceless. I'm guessing another team will be in there soon enough.

Cherry going isn't all that surprising because she's barely been on since the draft. I liked her, and she seemed to be doing alright in the ring, but no big loss.

Colin Delaney is only surprising because they had just turned him (and they had signed him to a 3-year contract). I figure if they wanted him off TV they'd use the beatdown Tommy gave him as an excuse to get him in FCW to develop a new character or something.

Stevie is easily the most surprising. It's weird because early in 2007, I felt that 4 jobbers had legit job security: Scotty 2 Hotty, Val Venis, Stevie Richards, and Funaki. All 4 of those guys seemed perfectly content jobbing and they'd all been around since the Attitude era...possibly office jobs or road agent jobs available to them after their wrestling career was over. Now two of them are gone.</font>

Lock Jaw 08-16-2008 02:20 PM

I hope Venis is fired. I've had a "fired pool" going with a bunch of people since 2005. Everyone picked ten wrestlers to be fired. Whoever has all ten of their picks released wins a prize of epic proportions. It is now 2008 and no one has won yet. People have been hired and fired who weren't on the original list to choose from... some people have been fired and then rehired... Shannon Moore has been fired twice...

All that remains on my list is Val Venis, Lance (then known as Garrison) Cade, and Hurricane (as he was then known).

jindrak 08-16-2008 05:58 PM

I'm a bit upset over Stevie. =(

Although he was 'enhancement talent' he did a really good putting people over strong (see CM Punk).

Anywhere other than WWE, I'd totally call this ironic.

Destor 08-17-2008 07:00 PM

I liked Colin :(

Lux 08-17-2008 07:08 PM

I'm sorry Des, he just wasn't heel material

Lux 08-17-2008 07:09 PM

Wait, how is Funaki still employed????

Mr. Nerfect 08-17-2008 10:23 PM

None of these releases are especially surprising. Val Venis still has his uber WWE loyalty going for him. Richards was liked a lot by Vince McMahon, but he also came up through other promotions, so him getting the chop doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I can't think of what I'd actually like to see Stevie do, but come to think about it, I'd love to see TNA give Michael Manna and Mike Bucci a run as a tag team.

The Highlanders were really sort of expected. They were a damn solid tag team, but no one was taking them seriously. I'd actually like to see TNA give them some sort of "we're not really related gimmick," and have both sort of do their own thing, whilst keeping them a tag team. TNA really needs some tandems, especially if they plan to break up The LAX and/or Motor City Machine Guns. Then you've got Team 3D potentially not being re-signed. I mean legit teams, and not just wrestlers stuck together.

Cherry was really hot, and a pretty likable character. She was also decent in the ring. She wasn't WWE-style, though. I'd like to see Domino and her get a crack in TNA as a couple. Didn't Domino have a new character that was "too adult" for the WWE that Russo would probably love?

Didn't know much about Wes Adams. At least he got a crack on the big stage, I guess. And then there's his appearance on The Dirt Sheet.

Colin Delaney getting the chop doesn't really surprise me. He was always sort of there as a gimmick. If the WWE wants someone to get their ass kicked, they've got Funaki, and probably Jimmy Wang Yang now. Funaki is also good friends with Stone Cold Steve Austin and worships Shawn Michaels, apparently, and has been damn solid for the WWE. I can understand why they've kept him.

Hardcore Holly and Charlie Haas are two of my guesses for who could get the chop next.
