HBM Injured

From PWInsider:

Shawn Michaels has suffered what is believed to be a triceps tear at tonight's Raw taping. That is the current word making it's way around backstage at the show. We hope to have more on this story later.

MCEazy 09-01-2008 01:00 AM

Ah man, whats gonna happen with the angle with jericho now? :(

#1-norm-fan 09-01-2008 01:01 AM

As the worlds biggest Shawn Michaels fan, this sucks ass.

I feel kinda bad though that the first thought that crossed my mind was "If he's injured, he can't wrestle... meaning the Jericho storyline has to continue at least until he can put on a match... YES!!!!"

Destor 09-01-2008 01:02 AM

Fuck'n hell

Mercury Bullet 09-01-2008 01:43 AM

Lock Jaw 09-01-2008 01:51 AM

This wouldn't have happened if they put Jericho in the scramble!

AKin3D 09-01-2008 02:49 AM

Fuck!

I wonder what they writers will do. They can't send him to hell with everyone else.

Splaya 09-01-2008 03:01 AM

Oh man, this is killer.

Well knowing Michaels he is going to go through the un-sanctioned match. In fact, if I were WWE, I would have Jericho just destroy Michaels body. Chair shots to the legs, arms, etc. That way you can write him off for a few months.

Hopefully HBK will be good to go for WM

Xerzes 09-01-2008 04:37 AM

This will end badly.

Just like MaceZe has earned the name Prince by using cream as his custom title.

:p

Indifferent Clox 09-01-2008 05:32 AM

Jericho is the only man I endorse winning the title from Punk besides HBM.

Pretty much what they have been doing I suppose. TBH I suspected that HBM actually was injured and most of this storyline was written around keeping him on screen without getting in the ring much. Out of all the storylines this has to be one of the easiest to rewrite a bit and keep him involved.

Fabien Barthez 09-01-2008 09:39 AM

How exactly did this happen when all he did at Raw was sign a piece of paper and have another crappy promo and little scuffle?

Afterlife 09-01-2008 10:27 AM

Them pens is heavy, yo.

NeanderCarl 09-01-2008 11:45 AM

Guys have worked matches with the same injury before, right? I'm almost sure Taker, Edge, Mysterio and Batista have all continued to wrestle with the same injury during the last year alone. If he sucks it up and wrestles Jericho at Unforgiven, then they will probably bring the feud to a close while they can.

How long do guys usually end up on the shelf with a triceps tear?

CSL 09-01-2008 12:32 PM

I can't see him not working the Unforgiven match. He wrestled Austin with a destroyed back and Triple H with a blown out knee so I think he'll get through this. Plus there is precedent with guys working with tricep tears. He'll be gone for a few months afterwards though

3-6 months, if memory serves. Depends on the severity, of course. Also, any addition trauma brought on during his Unforgiven match won't help things.

Londoner 09-01-2008 02:59 PM

Oh fuck sake.

Innovator 09-01-2008 08:26 PM

He should lay off the roids

NYDon 09-01-2008 08:29 PM

HBM is just taking a well-deserved vacation. Vince wants a midcarder as champ so why should the main eventers toil around for nothing. Cena and HBK have the right idea.

Afterlife 09-01-2008 09:31 PM

Sick burn.

#1-norm-fan 09-01-2008 11:39 PM

Yeah... front page says 4 to 6 months.

So assuming the worst, he would still be able to wrestle at Mania....

This is writing itself. Jericho puts Michaels down for good at Unforgiven and the storyline is just kinda let go until Michaels makes his triumphant return for a match at Mania.

Please WWE... I don't ask for much... but PLEASE let this happen. :'(

Mr. Nerfect 09-02-2008 03:02 AM

This could be a blessing in disguise. Look, I love HBK, but the time he has left in the ring is precious. He shouldn't burn himself out. This injury will allow him to rest up things like his knees.

Also, it means that the logical path to take is Chris Jericho destroying Michaels at Unforgiven, and getting himself some nuclear heat. It also means that, logically, the Jericho/HBK feud will not end here, and will continue to build and go on. Maybe Jericho can ride this momentum into the World Heavyweight Championship scene, and maybe HBK can return to win the 2009 Royal Rumble? Is that asking too much?

Juan 09-02-2008 03:05 AM

Nasty little spill he took at the end of Raw.

HBK winning the Rumble and then winning the world title at WrestleMania makes my penis explode.

... just sayin'

Juan 09-02-2008 06:14 AM

It sucks when guys get injured during "segments" instead of actual matches.

Mr. Nerfect 09-02-2008 06:44 AM

Jericho vs. Michaels should have been the WWE Championship main event at WrestleMania this year. Just sayin'.

#1-norm-fan 09-02-2008 04:20 PM

But then we wouldn't have had Michaels vs. Flair which was fan-freakin'-tastic as well as the amazing Michaels vs. Jericho feud that has followed leading up to possibly one of the best built WrestleMania matches off all time.

Afterlife 09-02-2008 05:41 PM

If they do go to Mania with this, what kind of match do you, the general populus, want them to have?

Linkbowler 09-02-2008 05:48 PM

That's easy.

Iron man. 60 minutes.

#1-norm-fan 09-02-2008 06:13 PM

I'd love to see a 1 hour Iron man match but I don't think they would be given THAT much time at WrestleMania.

I'd say 2 out of 3 falls is more realistic. Maybe have the match push 40 minutes.

NYDon 09-02-2008 07:58 PM

-- While it has not been made official, the word going around is that Michaels suffered a minor tear of his triceps and will not need surgery. The match Sunday appears to be a go and Michaels may not even need any time off. Tremendously good news for all involved.

:)

Mooияakeя™ 09-02-2008 09:14 PM

So Jericho is gonna destory him so he can take time off?

Mr. Nerfect 09-02-2008 09:14 PM

I'd actually like to see Shawn Michaels take some time off, anyway. Look, if he keeps going full throttle, the tear is not going to get better, surely. Just have Jericho own Michaels, put him out for a bit, and build to Michaels' returning "from retirement."

As for what sort of match they could have at WrestleMania, believe it or not, I think a Ladder Match would be appropriate. The only problem, of course, is that there will be a Money in the Bank Ladder Match on the card. It's just that I think the match would really suit the feud. Michaels really seems to be jabbing in that Jericho will never be Shawn Michaels, and Jericho always did idolize HBK. Throwing the stipulation that helped make HBK "Mr. WrestleMania" at them would be an effective thing to do at Mania.

More realistically, though, they could do some kind of reverse stipulation of what Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair had at Mania this year: If Jericho beats HBK (again), then HBK will be forced to retire for good.

Afterlife 09-02-2008 09:18 PM

I do agree, finally, that HBM should take time off. Even just a month or two. But I would also suggest that Jericho not "own" HBM too much. Make it an evenly brutal match, and then Jericho wraps his knees in barbed wire for the final Codebreaker that ends the match.

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing that (the match would fucking rule). I just don't want to see HBO (Heart Break Octogenarian ) make things worse for himself. A really violent match like that might also cause the WWE to call it closed on the feud. It'd be awesome with Jericho winning, and they have had a lot of input in the story, so if they want to keep it going, I'm sure they'd be allowed to, but I don't know...I just really want to see this keep going.

Afterlife 09-02-2008 09:28 PM

Well, I just meant as the put-him-out match. HBM could definitley come back two months later and whip the shit out of him.

Mr. Nerfect 09-02-2008 09:31 PM

Yeah, I got that. Ideally that would be great, but I'm not sure if the WWE would remember why Michaels was out in the first place.

Afterlife 09-02-2008 09:33 PM

Oh, sure they would. Because the whole time that Jericho is making his case for the Title, he's citing "The Destruction of HBM" as his greatest accomplishment. He brags about it, week after week.

Champion of Europa 09-02-2008 09:35 PM

Apparently the injury is minor and he doesn't need surgery, and may not even need time off.

Afterlife 09-02-2008 09:38 PM

Yes, but not needing it and not wanting it are two different things. If my muscle were to rip, I"d want a few weeks to heal it up, especially if it could benefit the story as well.

NYDon 09-02-2008 10:54 PM

It's a pretty safe bet that he will be taking some time off after this match. It just won't be 4-6 months.

Oh, sure, you would be able to right it as such, no doubt. But come on, it's a classic WWE thing to do for Shawn Michaels to return during a Santino Marella promo, and the WWE forget that anything between Michaels and Jericho ever happened. :p

Afterlife 09-02-2008 11:45 PM

Oh, come on with the cynicism. You're supposed to be the Voice of Hope around here.

#1-norm-fan 09-03-2008 01:23 AM

I want to see Lance Cade get involved and attack Michaels while Jericho is able to make a getaway. Then Michaels does some sort of crazy spot on Cade ala 'Taker to Edge @ Summer Slam. After that, as Shawn looks down at Cade and the damage he has caused, Jericho sneaks up behind Michaels and takes him out somehow in a similar manner.

Then Cade can threaten to sue Adamle for allowing this to happen to him despite him not signing any releases, but he will drop the suit if Jericho receives a title shot. And there's your Jericho title reign leading to the Mania match.
