New report states current Smackdown star has 'heat' wiithin WWE, info

According to a report by Dave Meltzer, MVP reportedly has some heat on him within WWE at the moment. While not a whole lot of details are known, his work in the ring has been criticized as of late and is said to have been told to work in the ring more like Shelton Benjamin.

MVP > Shelton by far. On the mic and in the ring.

Is this real heat, or the bi-monthly "CM Punk is in the doghouse" heat we always hear about?

IF this is true, then man, god forbid someone have his own style that slightly differs from the norm.

"Too unique" and "wrestle more like Shelton" aren't necessarily synonyms. Of course, this is WWE, so they probably are...But still.

Isn't Shelton just WWE's version of a spot monkey?

MVP's ring work is fine, but the more heat MVP has on him, the more chance The Brian Kendrick has of becoming WWE Champion at Unforgiven. :shifty:

I'd vote for the latter.

For all we know, they just meant "work a bit harder." MVP does have a style that can come across as a bit casual at times, maybe they want him to show some more visible effort.

Yes, he should emulate his ring style after maybe the most consistantly internally criticised performer in the company.

Next they will be telling him he should take a leaf out of Carlito's work ethic.

My favorite MVP match was when he slammed Yokozuna. Also, remember when MVP was knocked out and Goldust revived him with mouth to mouth and MVP got pissed?

Never claimed that was what made the matches good. Just that some good matches had these things in them.

Ever heard of Bruiser Brody? Or Stan Hansen? While they weren't prolithic choppers they would put an epic match together comprised by nothing but strikes.

Crazy, I've been on a Hansen kick here lately. He could work like a motherfucker. Also, my favorite spot of all time was him giving Kobashi a Lariat, knocking him off the top rope. It was sick.

MVP is NOT fat, his power ranger suit shrunk in the wash.

IMO, MVP has been consistent and drastically improved technically after his program with Chris B****t, then made Matt Hardy look amazing in their feud in 2007. He's survived some crappy booking in the first half of 2008, and is pretty versatile now in the ring. He's never got injured and has remained drug free.

Add to that he's awesome and is full of confidence on the mic right from his debut, MVP is someone the WWE can comfortably push and get good results from.

Yeah, I may be a little biased tho. :D

Given how similar their characters are, I think keeping MVP and Shelton Benjamin as different entities in the ring would be a good idea. Sort of like a fire and ice type of thing, and not a fire and fire deal.

MVP and Shelton Benjamin should both be allowed to decide how they work, in my opinion. You know, because they know what they are and aren't capable of? If Shelton or MVP fucks up when left to their own devices, well, maybe they aren't ready for the big time yet?

Isn't there always "newz" on how Shelton is always umotivated and sloppy?

Val Venis would make perfect sense. What really frustrates me about the WWE keeping him in the porn star gimmick, aren't the limits it puts on him, but rather that for a guy apparently obsessed with sex, he doesn't seem to do much with the Divas. He should be the guy hosting the Diva Searches, and breaking up couples, etc.

I was sure when Jamie Noble showed up on RAW that his flirting with Katie Lea was going to lead to a program with Burchill. Guess not.

MVP upset management following a recent incident in which he made a derogatory comment to one of the drug testing monitors who watches the WWE performers while they submit urine samples.

Following the implementation of the WWE Wellness policy a few years ago, some wrestlers were submitting fake urine samples to beat the drug tests. One wrestler was eventually caught cheating in WWE developmental wrestler Afa Anoa'i, Jr. As a result, Anoa'i was suspended by WWE for 30 days, on March 20, 2008, as cheating is an obvious violation of the WWE's Wellness policy. Following the incident, WWE instituted a new rule in which the performers have to be bare from their chest down to their knees while giving urine in front of a doctor to make sure they're not cheating. A number of the wrestlers are grouchy to the monitors as you would imagine. However, MVP went too far in what he said to one of them.

MVP asked the monitor if he graduated from college. The monitor said yet. MVP then insulted him, saying something along the lines of, "So you went to school for four years to watch people's (expletive)?"

The monitor promptly complained to WWE head of talent relations John Laurinaitis as well as Bruce Prichard. Soon after, Laurinaitis indirectly addressed the matter in locker room meeting, instructing talent to be respectful of the testers and to not harass them. People aware of the MVP incident felt it was obvious that the meeting was held due to it.

Since the incident, MVP has been getting the cold shoulder from a few officials. Suddenly, the word backstage is that he doesn't know how to work as a heel to get heat. At last week's SmackDown/ECW tapings in Pittsburgh, Shelton Benjamin - who's been in-and-out of favor with WWE officials for a number of years - was given high praise in that he knows to work as an effective heel. They liked his smiling facials after he laid out MVP with his "Paydirt" finisher and more so later in the show after clocking Triple H with a belt.

MVP doesn't know how to work as a heel?! WTF. Makes you wonder if these officials even watch him.

I think the whole "he can't wrestle" thing is bogus to slander MVP, Tommy Gunn. Seemed to be the point of the article.

Was it the urine tester's first day? I bet they get comments like that all the time.

I guess he considers himself a mark with more backstage knowledge and more sensibilities than most marks.

I can't imagine the WWE being too angry about this. I mean, a lot of the agents and stuff would have come from an era where they didn't have to do sissy drug-testing, and stuff was floating around the locker-rooms. There is a part of me that thinks this could be a bit of purposely leaked information to smokescreen and MVP title win at Unforgiven.

I mean, it would make sense to take the WWE Title off Triple H for so many reasons in the Scramble Match. Out of the heels, MVP is the logical pick for victory. The Brian Kendrick is too new to the main event scene, and Shelton Benjamin is already US Champion.

But then again, Shelton did beat MVP cleanly on SmackDown!.
