So what is the dealio here, I don't get it. Are you a D-backs fan AND a Cubs fan, what is going on.

RoXer 09-27-2008 09:27 PM

What do you mean you don't get it? Dave has been a D-Backs/Cubs fan since day 1 just like I've been a D-Backs/A's fan.

It's been that way since before you joined. This can't possibly be news to you.

Cubs fan since 92...you know, before the D'Backs existed.

LoDownM 09-28-2008 01:27 PM

lol @ The Rockies not making it.

Evil Vito 09-28-2008 05:14 PM

I am completely numb right now. I can't believe it...two straight years of the EXACT same thing.

Evil Vito 09-28-2008 06:27 PM

Well, at least I won't feel as crappy once the first round ends...because I know full well the Mets wouldn't get past that point.

SammyG 09-28-2008 09:55 PM

Word.

DOODGERS GONNA BEAT THE CUUUBBSS

RBM 09-28-2008 10:53 PM

Gogo Philly and Tampa.

LOL, kinda feel the same way as a Yankees fan. I mean yeah it sucks not making the playoffs but the season is pretty much only a week shorter than it has been the past couple years.

RP 09-28-2008 11:07 PM

CUBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBIES

VonErichLives 09-29-2008 08:06 AM

Beckett was an oblique strain, may be available game 3, but good chance he wont be able to pitch round 1.

Evil Vito 09-30-2008 11:17 PM

Some predictions:

DS
Cubs over Dodgers in 3
Phillies over Brewers in 4
Rays over White Sox in 4
Angels over Red Sox in 5

CS
Cubs over Phillies in 6
Angels over Red Sox in 5

WS
Angels over Cubs in 7

OssMan 10-01-2008 12:48 AM

I like the Cubs but I hope they lose cause of DaveWadding being such a dickhead. I'm rooting for the Rays to go all the way just to take a dump on MLB

SammyG 10-01-2008 01:49 AM

lol, Cubs in 3? Come on, now. I don't think that will happen.

I think the Dodgers can take this series. Will be mad difficult, but we can do it.

And if we don't... LAAAAAAAKE SHOWWWW will win it all.

Evil Vito 10-01-2008 07:24 AM

Yeah, I was gonna do Cubs in 4 but there always seems to be at least 1 sweep because one team just doesn't show up.

Regardless of the number of games, pretty confident with the overall picks.

Loose Cannon 10-01-2008 10:00 AM

I am rooting for the Cubs all the way here. They have to do it.

FakeLaser 10-01-2008 10:03 AM

Pulling for a Brewers/Rays WS

Supreme Olajuwon 10-01-2008 12:40 PM

For sure. Definitely rooting for the Brewers and the Rays.

BCWWF 10-01-2008 05:05 PM

Damn. After the Royals series the Twins weren't going to win that last night. Pretty shitty that it was in Chicago though; Twins won the season series, the location was decided just by a coin flip.

Loose Cannon 10-01-2008 05:11 PM

god, I would hate to watch the Brewers in the WS. Everything about them is dull. Thier name, thier city, thier fans, thier team (minus CC), thier state, thier dull symbol. A fucking glove with a ball in it? come on guys

SammyG 10-01-2008 05:21 PM

Ryan Braun

MVP 10-01-2008 07:48 PM

Hoping the Red Sox repeat last year's sweep of the Angels. Gonna have a much harder time though. We're gonna need Beckett's postseason dominance, but it's not looking good.

I think the most embarrassing thing about the Brewers is that their stadium is Miller Park. Very overrated beer in my opinion.

The glove and ball logo is actually an m on top of a b (for Milwaukee Brewers). And their newer logo with the M over the piece of barley is one of my personal favorites.

Loose Cannon 10-01-2008 08:55 PM

errr, not good for the Cubbies here. and wtf is up with the sound quality here with TBS? I feel like I am watching a house show wrestling event from thr 1980's where you can barely hear the crowd.

is it shit sound or is there literally nobody making noise in that field?

DaveWadding 10-01-2008 09:21 PM

Lou is an idiot...how the fuck do you leave Dumpster in for that fucking long with such apparent control problems?

SammyG 10-01-2008 10:08 PM

WADDING, TELL ME HOW JAMES LONEY'S, MANNY RAMIREZ'S and RUSSEL MARTIN'S ASSES TASTE

MVP 10-02-2008 09:08 AM

Jason Bay reminds me of Willy Mo Pena. He can't seem to hit breaking balls, but he destroys fastballs. Not sure what the Angels were thinking throwing him a fastball when he struck out on breaking balls the last 2 at bats, but I'm OK with it.

Hanso Amore 10-02-2008 02:11 PM

James Loney is developing into a major stud.

SammyG 10-02-2008 02:15 PM

He sucked ass like for 15 games right before the playoffs, so that was awesome to see him crank that outta the park.

Evil Vito 10-02-2008 02:59 PM

Supreme Olajuwon 10-02-2008 07:21 PM

Technically a sell out but they still had a couple thousand tickets available.

LOL I can't believe how much Lou Pinella fails in the playoffs, and how much Joe Torre Succeeds. I'm pulling for a Dodgers/Rays series, myself.

The only old man I love more than Joe Torre ...is...is..there is none.

SammyG 10-03-2008 02:00 AM

Dodgers/Rays would be sexy. Freeway series would be sweet too, but I am terrified of the Angels.

RP 10-03-2008 08:32 AM

Comon Cubs seriously.

Ted Lilly is all balls so i think we'll get this one tonight.

RP 10-03-2008 08:33 AM

I cant fucking believe we're getting lit up by Manny Douchmerez

Loose Cannon 10-03-2008 09:45 AM

god, this is brutal for you Cubs fans. what the fuck. really, what the fuck?

Hanso Amore 10-03-2008 12:16 PM

its their own fault. Their team loses, big deal, alot of teams lose. but the way Cubbies fans make themselves out to be 100 year victims, well fuck them, its their own fault.

RP 10-03-2008 02:10 PM

Ted Lilly has been on fire lately. I fully expect him to get the Cubs on the board in game 3.

I catch myself saying " get us " instead of " get the Cubs " . I wanna say us, but i dont live in Chicago.

Nevermind i guess Harden is going for game 3. That actually sets up alot better. Lilly taking it on game 4 and then Zambrano for 5 I would think.

If it gets this far.

SammyG 10-03-2008 02:24 PM

Yeah, I dunno, Kuroda in game 3, kinda iffy about that. He did throw a 4 hit shutout against them at Dodger Stadium in June, but I dunno. Would rather pitch Kershaw I think. We'll see. A sweep would be fucking amazing, Dodger Stadium is gonna be rockin'.

SWEEP THE CUBS.

Evil Vito 10-03-2008 03:00 PM

I'm not comfortable saying it's over until it actually is, especially in only a 5 game series...but wow. It's amazing how many LOL-worthy teams there are this year in terms of falling short of expectations. In the regular season alone you can throw the Mets, Yankees, Tigers, Indians in there...hell you can even link the Mariners in there since most people thought they would at least finish up a few games over .500

And in the playoffs...the Cubs are definitely in that group if they are knocked out first round, ditto for the Angels. I mean obviously the Red Sox are really good, but if you win 100 games and still can't get past one round, that's awful.

Although I picked Cubs/Angels WS when the playoffs started, I'm really pulling for Rays/Cubs because I'd be happy with either result, a great story either way. Just as long as the Phucking Phils don't get there. :(

Kris P Lettus 10-03-2008 03:06 PM

Really wanted to see Cubs/BoSox in the series..

Still hope, but it's been fading fast..

We'll take care of that Phils part, don't worry. Freeway series, dude.

KingofOldSchool 10-03-2008 04:18 PM

Pssh the BoSox with whip Angel ass just like last year.

SammyG 10-03-2008 06:03 PM

Dodgers/Rays would be hot too.

Loose Cannon 10-03-2008 11:09 PM

lol Torri Hunter has got to feel stupid.

Loose Cannon 10-03-2008 11:10 PM

dam, these series are all going to be 2-0 it seems.

Evil Vito 10-04-2008 10:21 AM

Good, hopefully this lower's K-Rod's price this offseason. :shifty: Last I heard he wants 5 years, $75 million which is excessive as fuck for a closer but seeing as the Mets blew a million games once Wagner went down, he can probably demand and get what he wants.

SammyG 10-04-2008 03:10 PM

Kinda terrified of Harden tonight, not gonna lie.

YOUR Hero 10-04-2008 03:20 PM

Rays. Really rooting for them.

Hanso Amore 10-04-2008 06:07 PM

I want the Rays to win, because every time a small market team wins a WS because of a strong far msystem, Cashman has ammo to defend himself to the Steinbrenners.

Loose Cannon 10-04-2008 06:30 PM

yea, our nice little farm system really preformed this year. Not that they won't blossom and tear it up soon, but wow, what a terrible year for all of them, except Jaba.

KingofOldSchool 10-04-2008 10:41 PM

Get out your brooms Cubs fans.

....oh wait....

The Phils get it done.

East coast vs. West coast in the NLCS.

DaveWadding 10-05-2008 08:16 PM

It's the NLCS to decide who's fans are a bigger bunch of assholes!

SammyG 10-06-2008 02:12 AM

....

Evil Vito 10-06-2008 09:24 AM

Apparently Sabathia plans on making his decision on a new team as quickly in the offseason as possible. Word has it his preference is the West Coast and I hear he wants to stay in the NL.

Seems like the Dodgers might be the best suitors at this point because they fit the above criteria plus they are shedding a lot of payroll.

YOUR Hero 10-06-2008 10:21 AM

^ that would be pretty awesome. I'm a warm Padres fan but it would be nice to see the Dodgers build something if San Diego wasn't able to.

Andrew Bynum. AKA, Revenge will be sweet. Just wait. Counting down till June...

Anyway. Dodgers/Sox would be fucking sick. Torre managing against the Sox again, Manny/Lowe/Cora/Nomar against their old teams, and just how historic both ball clubs are...

Lackey is a little bitch

it's like the new Seattle Mariners.

Evil Vito 10-08-2008 02:48 PM

Hey Hero, I'm not sure what the Jays' offensive situation is, but would you be interested in getting Delgado back? Apparently the Mets are definitely exercising his option, but similar to Gary Sheffield a few years back, they might try to turn around and trade him.

It'd likely cost a bullpen guy and maybe a prospect or two...I'm not entirely sure.

I would. By nature teams with confidence or frustration are going to think that. People don't come out and say it however because its sore, sour and utterly pointless. It also makes you look like an idiot and a little bitch. Any team or athlete who has ever lost could say this, and those who are more deserving to feel so have always refrained.

But really, it's not only totally classless and uncalled for to say, even if you believe it, but it's also false in this case. I could see that sentiment if they went up in the series and blew it in game 5, or let the team come back when they had them near elimination. But the fact of the matter is they got beaten. It would be more accurate to say they're lucky they didn't get swept, again.
The entire series I think they only had a run lead on the red sox for 2 innings.
