Better music WCW, WWE or TNA?
So which company do you think has/had the best music WWE, WCW or TNA? I think WCW had alot of take-offs of popular music like DDP's sounded like Smells like Teen Spirit, Jeff Jarrett had a take-off of Cowboy, Saturn used the entrance that sounded like the Bueatiful People. WWE and TNA has some good ones too, I like Jeff Hardy's TNA music and the old WWE Three Minute Warning.
|
WWE has always had the best music.
|
wwe no question
|
Double Double E
|
WWE. WCW had decent music, occasionally. TNA just rips off other people music.
|
WCW had a handful of great themes (Harlem Heat, Four Horsemen, nWo to name a few) but by far WWE has had the best. WCW's were too generic. WWE at least tried to match up themes with characters.
|
WWE. Not only were the themes better, but a lot of them were custom made for the wrestlers. Jim Johnston is awesome.
WCW had a few good and memorable themes. TNA is just plain terrible. For a company who shits on WWE as often as they can and takes pride in being different than them, they sure like to make generic rip offs of former WWE wrestlers' themes. |

Yeah, 3 exceptions there. Jeff Hardy did his own, so it's not TNA written. I swear I read an interview where Christian says he has had input on all his themes since he went single.
Kurt Angle was coming in so they probably used all their music creativity on Kurt signing for TNA. Also, MCMGs first theme, before they fagged it up 2 months later. |
WWE definitely has better music. The only real TNA theme I really like is The Beautiful People's, even though it is a generic rock theme.
|
I forgot about Angle's theme. Fine. TNA has had one good one.
Jeff Hardy's TNA theme would be better if it had a different singer.... or no vocals at all. The music is good for a theme. |
Jim Johnston is the best, he can write stuff that fit any caracters. And by the way, Christian's TNA theme is My last breath from Evanescence without lyrics.

WWE

WWE's music, as a whole, is superior. Sure, there's some generic-sounding shit in there, but for the most part the themes tend to go well with the characters and sound pretty good.
|
You guys can't count production library tracks that WCW or WWE used.
As far as original music goes, WWE wins out by a small margn. The few themes that Jimmy Hart did for WCW were great, but not as great as WWE's. TNA's music is just... blech. |

Kurt Angle's theme is a rip off. It's Lunatic Fringe by Red Ryder. Now it has some rapping over a remix of it.
TNA had some good music. LAX and 3LK were good. |
Oh and Christian's is a rip off too of an Evanescence song I can't remember the name too. "My Last Breath" possibly.
|
I.R.S. never used that typewriter sound effects theme. It was a common misconception that he did use it, but he never actually did.

BTW can someone tell me Jericho's theme from WCW? I recall the it was over with the fans. |
Jericho's WCW theme was a rip-off of Even Flow by Pearl Jam without lyrics.
Also, I must say that even though Booker T's TNA music is a rip-off of his old theme, I quite like it: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zAGWfkObqvM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zAGWfkObqvM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Not great quality, but I'm too lazy to find a better one. TNA messed up Christian's music by remixing it though. |

There you go. I think WCW's best original themes are Raven's and DDP's. There weren't many non-outsourced themes that I can think of, but those stick out. |
Yea, same as the rest here...I think WWE is the best. There is really no doubt about it, as they've made original music for their wrestlers for years, and can't recall a wrestler using a remix theme song since the 80's.
Most of WCW and TNA's theme songs were generic remixes of better song with exception to stuff like nWo, AJ Styles, and 4 Horsemen. |
WCW was the best by quite a while, alot were admittedly redone songs but they still kicked alot of ass. TNA music is usually awful by comparison.
|
WWE by a mile.
This really shouldn't even be a discussion... |
WWE's music since Jim Johnson left the company has been mega shit though. Probably the worst of the 3.
|
When did Johnston leave the company?

Yes, and Raven's was a rip-off of Come As You Are. Hopefully, he was joking.
Jericho's was a rip-off of Evenflow. |
Jim Johnston never left WWE. It was rumored, but was never true.
And yeah, DDP's was a rip-off (as was Raven's) but they were still pretty good. Jericho's 2nd was a rip-off of "Evenflow" by Pearl Jam, but that's the production library's fault, not WCW's ;) |
There is one WCW theme that I really liked, its Satan's sister, many wrestlers used it and it was a great riff.

Rollin' wasn't a remix. And it came out in 2000.

Also, if he had been gone for just the past three months, honestly, how many new themes have been produced in that short time period? lol |
Well, they DID reuse a Jamie Noble theme for Swagger...
|
Jim Johnston did not leave WWE.
And that theme, Xero, was also used for U.S. Express's one-time appearance at the RAW 15th Anniversary show. |

And... it just goes to show you how much that theme has been re-used. I was furthering your point.

Maybe paying those artists explains part of the reason for Paul Heyman going bankrupt.

They always used cover versions in ECW.
And Raven used Offspring's Come Out And Play to the best of my memory, Rollermacka. |
They used cover versions for Video releases and maybe for TV (I'm not 100% sure on TV). They did use at least some real songs live.
I believe I heard they don't need to pay royalties for live performances, only for releases and possibly pretapes. Which is how WWE used Enter Sandman and then cut it from the DVD. Then again, maybe they just slipped under the radar. Doesn't ROH use real music? |
Yeah, I guess ECW may have used the real versions live and dubbed the cover versions over it for DVD releases back in the day. I have a few ECW DVDs that are noticably dubbed.
|
Ah, so that's how they managed to circumvent paying royalties. Thanks, CAC & Xero.
ROH used real music, but is starting to use stock production music as well now. That shows promise. TNA doesn't even do that. Perhaps they should. |
Has anyone got Jarrett's or Angle's themes on mp3 clear and complete?
|
yea WWE, but I haven't liked to many themes the past couple years. They've been on this Rock/Punk Rock kick for the past couple years and a lof of themes sound the same to me. They even use these type songs for thier PPV "themes"
|
Maria's song makes me wanna rip my ears off.

They were ripoffs, bot WCW did have some great ones. They're more memorable to me. The Artist's, M.I. Smooth, 3 Count. Basically the qirky undercard themes were better imo.
|
TNA does do mostly ripped-off themes but at least a few are good for laughs, such as Lethal, Shark Boy, Eric Young (since he is "afraid" of his pyro and it always catches him "off-guard"), and a couple others.
|
As a rule, WWF/E always has the best songs. Part of that is simply that they have a better budget, but mostly, it's because most of their songs fit the characters. Even when it's a production theme, they are usually fairly appropriate (The Hardy Boys, for example).

^ This man knows his stuff. I'm just now adding ROH themes to Xylot Themes, and he's right.
