If the action looks familiar its because the original creator of Devil May Cry is creating it. The over the top moves, over the top acting, an over the top character. This... may sway me from DMC! Yes, she's shooting from her heels. And yes, her clothes are made up of her hair and she gets increasingly naked as her hair-based moves get more elaborate. Just thought I should point that out.

The music reminds me waaaay too much of Final Fantasy X-2. They need to change the soundtrack or ....no.

I've been following the development of this game for a while now, not bringing it up here because it was nigh above vaporware having nearly no coverage since it was announced a long time ago. But now that there's some hard media I can divulge what I know now:

- Bayonetta is the creation of Hideki Kamiya, who created Devil May Cry (1, not any of the sequels). He also did Viewtiful Joe and Okami. He's making Bayonetta for two reasons; he feels nobody expanded on the groundwork laid out with DMC1 - including its own sequels (Burn!), and one of his team members merely wanted him to make another action game.
- Bayonetta is a witch who fights angels. She uses her guns (on hands and feet), but will have other weapons to dish pain with. Her hair-based powers allow her manifest things created from her hair, including that dog-beast at the end of the trailer.

It'll be interesting to see what the female gamer response to this game will be. She's an action capable chick with her game, but her presentation is almost completely fanservice. Anyway, I'm betting this game will come out swinging for a piece of the action genre pie, challenging DMC4, NG2, and eventually GoW3.

I dunno, kinda on the fence about this title. On the one hand the gameplay seems really cool, but on the other hand, it's like, what's with this concept of having more of her skin show as she loses more health? It just kind of seems like a cheap way to sucker people in to buying a game just for a semblance of nudity. I just hope it doesn't turn out like BMX XXX a few years ago...

All I know is that I'm totally fucking getting this game.

And Hell yeah at Yuji Shim. doing the cutscenes. I marked out when his name came up. Marked out like a little girl. With the father of DMC working with modern DMC's presentation man, all I need to here is Shootie G doing music and I'm sold. Like Limited Edition sold.

Yeah, the developers are definitely trying to appeal to a certain demographic with all the partial nudity.

But you obviously have no idea what you're talking about if you think that's all the game is about.

Definitely about cheap thrills, but more about over-the-top, devil may cry-style action cheap thrills, than the sex appeal.

If they wanted to just make a game that was all about the sex, they would have gotten a shitty developer to make it.

Point is, I agree with you that the sexual content is being targeted towards a certain sad, niche crowd that gets off on that shit, but it's still possible to play the game and enjoy it, even if you don't give a shit about cg boobs.

Bayonetta is being crafted by Kayima, a badass developer who created Devil May Cry - basically creating the modern 3D 'Action' genre while he was at it. He left DMC to others and later found the action genre lacking without his input. He, by his own admission, decided to give the action genre a kick in the balls with Bayonetta. Will Bayonetta redefine action games? I think so. But I digress (however reluctantly), if you think Bayonetta is some T&A vehicle that has little else to offer... You're. Fucking. Crazy. And ignorant. Best be silent and do some research.

You don't have to like Bayonetta, as a concept, character, or game - but if you don't know the historical context behind the 'hype', GTFO.

I can fully understand just why people think it's a T&A vehicle regardless of if the game is actually good. The game might be great and everything but I do feel it's not exactly a great way to go about things by crafting a main character that's naked for most of the game save for hair wrapped around her, it doesn't really make it look like it wants to be taken seriously or as anything but pure T&A.

Like I said it might be a great game, the score from Famitsu says it's worth checking out but I can see where some people are coming from when they think the games just being made to appeal to perverted shut ins.

I think this is what most people are missing. It's not meant to be taken seriously. It is purposely over the top.

Why would I do that? For one whether you play it or not does shit for my well being, and secondly I'd wager the "main selling point" is it being helmed by Devil May Cry creator, Kayima - who knows what the fuck he's doing.

But I'm concluding you can't tell the difference between Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Blade, or rather; a quality action game compared to 'a game with action in it'. So telling you the DMC creator is making this game means shit to you. And then there's your attitude toward it from the jump.

You see; a meteorology major can talk to a lay man about the weather, but it doesn't help if the normal guy starts with, "Fucking stupid, useless weather man gets nothing right. So what do you think next week will look like?"

This is a subject I feel passionate about, and while I held back in the past, these days I'll go all out. So after nearly quitting this spot for good, I figure I just keep posting and a) Really type what's on my mind no matter how long and drawn out it gets, b) Promote the idea that it's not that I take the message boards seriously, it's that I take my hobbies and subjects seriously and c) Not worry about people calling me on making things "Serious Business" (this has actually restrained me for a long time).
