Official Guitar Hero: Metallica Thread

Yeah since I'm the greatest Metallica fan on TPWW I should be the one to start this.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ttuKhEbyBPA&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ttuKhEbyBPA&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Hopefully this will be full band play.

So we know that Master of Puppets is confirmed. Which songs should and should not be included.

Bo 11-01-2008 05:21 AM

Well I myself also a big 'Tallica fan am geeked up for it . It probably will be full band play as all music games will be from now on.

Kane Knight 11-01-2008 01:42 PM

Metallica sucks a bag of dicks, and so will this.

D Mac 11-01-2008 01:57 PM

NOT!

Kalyx triaD 11-01-2008 04:05 PM

I'm confident that everything I want will be in the game. That is all.

Bo 11-01-2008 04:27 PM

Kane Knight falls in the third collum.

Coming into a thread that will obviously attract 'Tallica fans and talking about how Metallica sucks is blatant Trolling. I expected more from both of you.

Kalyx triaD 11-01-2008 04:34 PM

Now apologize.

Disturbed316 11-01-2008 04:39 PM

Should be fairly decent, although I think it will probably be just guitar rather than full band.

Or, razzing D-Mac, who will take it in good humour, is just fun and games.

Not to posit another theory which might be more valid or anything...

D Mac 11-03-2008 02:34 PM

Yeah they know how to make me mad. :D

Kane Knight 11-03-2008 10:42 PM

:foc: bitch!

Funky Fly 11-03-2008 11:10 PM

If they keep strictly to the early stuff it will be great.

Kane Knight 11-03-2008 11:24 PM

I dunno. I'll give it a chance, but Battery was one of the least immersive songs I played in RB2. I felt like I was pushing buttons more than playing along, and without the whole immersive rock star fantasy is gone, I feel kind of silly fingering a large piece of plastic.

Although DMac will certainly enjoy fingering his plastic phallus and thinking of James....

Nah, there's a lot of newer stuff that would be fun to play too. From a difficulty standpoint, it's good to have them in lower sets.

Full band is the current standard now right? They will sell copies regardless, but they would make more money if they had full band sets at 189 bucks to Metallica fans who don't have RB or GH.

Kalyx triaD 11-04-2008 12:58 AM

A full band set would be over doing it. Just sell the game alone and make it compatible with the instruments. Most people who'll buy surely have past peripherals.

Kalyx triaD 11-04-2008 12:59 AM

Let's not rule out a 'Tallica exclusive guitar, though.

:shifty:

D Mac 11-04-2008 01:01 AM

I just wanna be able to get drunk and sing my ass off with this. I will regardless but I wanna do it with lyrics and star power.

It was already the "standard" when GHA was announced.

Yes, we know, it's the worst kept secret in rock-n-roll but we're here now to finally confirm that there will indeed be an all-Metallica Guitar Hero game released in the first half (!?) of 2009. Guitar Hero Metallica allows you to play as us in either single instrument or band career game modes in your choice of some famous settings (Tushino Airfield anyone?) or new venues with in the round staging. Included are 28 Metallica songs along with a few from some of our buddies like as Alice in Chains, the Foo Fighters, Slayer, Machine Head and Queen. There is also an all new Expert+ difficulty setting featuring two bass drum kick pedals (!!!) along with all the gameplay modes from Guitar Hero World Tour.

Over the next few months, we're going to be updating you with track listings, more features, of course how and when you can get the game, and some cool previews of the game right here on the site. As you've heard us say before, keep checking back for more details!

D Mac 12-28-2008 07:25 PM

28 huh. nice

D Mac 12-28-2008 07:25 PM

Hopefully some DLC too.

Funny you say that, cause I was thinking that Death Magnetic should be playable in this game. I don't think there's an interface to separate one DLC from another (but really, just have old DLC work in exclusive GH games anyway).

.44 Magdalene 12-28-2008 07:37 PM

Game Informer is claiming 28 songs straight from Metallica, 17 from their favorites and influences. They're also saying that most DLC won't be compatible with this, but Death Magnetic will be.

.44 Magdalene 12-28-2008 07:39 PM

Also from Game Informer:

"Armed and Ready" Michael Schenker Group
"Black River" The Sword
"Blood and Thunder" Mastodon
"Demon Cleaner" Kyuss
"Enter Sandman" Metallica
"For Whom the Bell Tolls" Metallica
"Fuel" Metallica
"Hell Bent for Leather" Judas Priest
"Hit the Lights" Metallica
"King Nothing" Metallica
"Master of Puppets" Metallica
"Mother of Mercy" Samhain
"No Excuses" Alice in Chains
"No Leaf Clover" Metallica
"Nothing Else Matters" Metallica
"Sad but True" Metallica
"Tuesday's Gone" Lynyrd Skynyrd
"Turn the Page" Bob Seger
"Unforgiven The Unforgiven" Metallica
"Wherever I May Roam" Metallica

D Mac 12-28-2008 07:39 PM

I got Death M when it first came out, and there's still about 8 songs I've never played of it.

HMM Bob Seger's Turn the Page
Hope the Metallica version is in there as a buyable song at least.

I can't complain about the original Tuesday's Gone, though

That's actually what I was kinda hoping for

I luv you.

D Mac 12-28-2008 07:46 PM

I just hope they change the vocal interface on this. The GH World Tour vocals were HORRIBLE.

D Mac 01-09-2009 12:54 AM

Release date: March 29, 2009

Too far away. :(

.44 Magdalene 01-09-2009 01:08 AM

Yeah, all the good shit's coming out in February/March. Resident Evil 5 and I think Street Fighter IV, too.

Kalyx triaD 01-15-2009 05:07 PM

Game drops March 29.

Also,
Quote:

The music creation mode from World Tour will also be presented, giving the player the option of using tones from Hetfields' ESP Truckster guitar and Slayer's Tom Araya's ESP Bass in addition to Metallica drum sounds.
Which basically makes World Tour obsolete.

D Mac 01-16-2009 01:02 AM

Nah if you could export songs from World Tour to this, then it would be obsolete. But it still has it's uses. Like Ozzy and The Eagles.

D Mac 01-16-2009 01:04 AM

I wonder if this will have Guitar Battle vs Kirk, Bass Battle vs Robert, and Drum Battle vs Lars? Vocal Battle vs James? lol

Also, I wonder if in No Leaf Clover they will have the symphony rendered in the game, or if it will just be the song and Met playing, or taking the symphony out alltogether.

Kalyx triaD 01-16-2009 01:07 AM

I don't think the symphony tracks would be hard to keep. It's a lot of layers (I wasn't at the mix or anything), but it could happen.

And speaking of that, why the fuck wasn't Fade To Black on that set-list? Those S&M tracks were epic. S&M Master of Puppets changed my life.

D Mac 01-16-2009 01:11 AM

There's still more Met songs to be announced. FTB will probably be one of them. Better be anyways.

Kalyx triaD 01-16-2009 01:12 AM

I was talking about the S&M CD. I wanted an S&M Fade To Black.

I'm pretty sure Fade To Black is in the game. Bet my life, even.

D Mac 01-16-2009 01:14 AM

Oh, yeah a FTB w/ symphony would have been awesome.

This apparantly is only used in the 'Expert Plus' mode....

I'm wondering about the RB Drums as well. I'd like to try getting this, then returning the unopened game to a different Gamestop. It connects via splitter.

Guitar Hero: Metallica Full Track Listing
Written Saturday, January 24, 2009 by Dan Webb

Metallica.com likes to spoil all Activision's fun these days and yesterday was no different as they broke the news of the official track listing of their upcoming Guitar Hero title. When I say the official track listing, I mean every song; both theirs and their "friends."

So here is the tracklisting in its entirety that will ship with the game on March 29th in North America and some time in May in Europe:

Metallica Tracks

All Nightmare Long
Battery
Creeping Death
Disposable Heroes
Dyers Eve
Enter Sandman
Fade To Black
Fight Fire With Fire
For Whom The Bell Tolls
Frantic
Fuel
Hit The Lights
King Nothing
Master of Puppets
Mercyful Fate (Medley)
No Leaf Clover
Nothing Else Matters
One
Orion
Sad But True
Seek And Destroy
The Memory Remains
The Shortest Straw
The Thing That Should Not Be
The Unforgiven
Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
Wherever I May Roam
Whiplash

If you downloaded the "Death Magnetic" album for Xbox and PS3, those ten songs will play in their entirety in the full game mode. PS2 and Wii versions (coming in the Spring, most likely in early May) will include "Broken Beat & Scarred," "Cyanide" and "My Apocalypse" since they are not compatible with the Death Magnetic downloadable content.

Other Artists

Alice In Chains - No Excuses
Bob Seger - Turn The Page
Corrosion of Conformity - Albatross
Diamond Head - Am I Evil?
Foo Fighters - Stacked Actors
Judas Priest - Hell Bent For Leather
Kyuss - Demon Cleaner
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Tuesdays Gone
Machine Head - Beautiful Mourning
Mastodon - Blood And Thunder
Mercyful Fate - Evil
Michael Schenker Group - Armed and Ready
Motorhead - Ace of Spades
Queen - Stone Cold Crazy
Samhain - Mother of Mercy
Slayer - War Ensemble
Social Distortion - Mommy's Little Monster
Suicidal Tendencies - War Inside My Head
System of a Down - Toxicity
The Sword - Black River
Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back in Town

Kalyx triaD 01-24-2009 03:08 PM

Too many guests, IMO. But a decent list.

G 01-24-2009 03:21 PM

LOL yeah WTF. I thought this was suppose to be a Metallica game?

D Mac 01-24-2009 04:18 PM

Figured there would be a St. Anger song on there. Hoped for The Unnamed Feeling but Frantic is ok I guess. No Until it Sleeps kinda sucks. But at least it has Fade and Sanitarium.

D Mac 01-24-2009 04:27 PM

Also was hoping for the Metallica version of Turn the Page. DLC hopefully.

Was the same way with the GH Aerosmith game, what made you think this would be any different.

First GH game I'm not gonna buy, btw. Least not right away.

D Mac 01-24-2009 06:59 PM

29 Met songs is still a good number. Along with Death Magnetic DLC And it's FULL BAND.

Gonna pre order next week.

Considering I know nothing about the Aerosmith game and the fact that it's focused around Metallica would make me think this.

QUEEN!

Please tell me Activision don't have an exclusive deal though. I would much rather see them on Rock Band

They claim there aren't any exclusive acts. I'm kinda pissed that the Metallica game gets a Queen tune, albeit this one makes sense. I just don't like the track list enough to bother.

On the plus side, if they marketed it for one band, there's an increased chance it'll appear on the other.

Vastardikai 01-26-2009 01:43 AM

COC and the Sword will both get HUGE bumps from this.

D Mac 01-26-2009 04:23 AM

WTF KK the track list is great. :foc:

I can't wait to sing ONE.

Kalyx triaD 01-26-2009 04:29 AM

My buds disowned me for buying the 'Tallica pack last year for RB (citing its difficulty as reason), so it's safe to say I'll be rocking it alone when I get the game. Damn shame, nothing beats offline all-Expert band play but it seems me and my nephew will be the only ones jamming on the thing.

FUCK. They choose now to drop that shit? I guess my hopes of future Guitar Heroes having Lead/Rhythm/Bass options on one track is shot down. And I figured this game would benefit most from it.

Time for a Hard-Worded Letter!

Kalyx triaD 01-26-2009 02:33 PM

IGN Hands On:

- "Drum Over" mode let's you play a track with no Drum Note Chart, essentially you can provide whatever beat you want using the tracks set drum effects. And this my friends should have been in Rock Band fuckin one.
- All songs are unlocked for quickplay out of the box. Personally, unlocking songs through (co-op/single) campaign play should be one convention that remains untouched. Don't get me wrong, I fuckin love the idea!
- "Metallifacts" is a non-playable mode where the band plays while pop-up facts appear on screen. Yeah, they said it was like Pop-Up Video.

D Mac 01-27-2009 12:57 AM

Cool

Dorkchop 01-27-2009 01:33 AM

The latest Guitar Hero sold more on Wii than PS3 and 360 combined, yet it's being released for Wii later.

I also don't understand why they wouldn't have lead and rhythm guitars.

The only albums I've loved are their ones from the 80s. Black album was great, but I never got too into it. I'm surprised to like Death Magnetic as much as I do. I didn't like Load or Re-Load and St. Anger can suck my shit. I think this might be the first and only Guitar Hero game I own despite hating the fact that they're releasing way too many Guitar Hero games. One game a year should be enough.

Shaggy 01-28-2009 06:01 PM

No Four Horsemen pisses me off...

But Mercyful Fate medley makes me wet myself...

D Mac 01-29-2009 01:39 AM

All Nightmare Long is a track waste IMO, they could have offered the DLC version free if you buy the game or some shit, and have another track like Turn the Page or Four Horsemen instead.

Vastardikai 01-29-2009 03:12 AM

Me and a friend had this conversation and came to the following conclusion:

If "Load" and "Re-Load" were put out by any other band, they'd be considered Good Albums. And, in reality, they ARE good albums. They're just not good METALLICA albums. If that makes any sense.

Kalyx triaD 01-29-2009 03:15 AM

IGN:

February 13, 2009 - Lars, James, Kirk and Robert are about to get some company as Activision announced today that Motorhead's lead singer and bassist, Lemmy, will be joining the group on stage in Guitar Hero Metallica. Gamers will be able to take to the stage as Lemmy and even rock out to Motorhead's 2008 version of Ace of Spades. According to Lemmy, "It's great to be in Guitar Hero with all these famous people and I'm really pleased to be in it with Metallica...but James is still taller than me."

Guitar Hero Metallica features the iconic band as well as 21 other musical acts. Gamers can play along with over 45 hits from throughout Metallica's catalog, as well as tunes from a range of other artists, including the Foo Fighters, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Queen. The venues will also reflect the titular band's albums covers and song themes.

Kalyx triaD 02-16-2009 09:34 AM

I still feel Metallica should have done a cover to "The Game", and replace the second half of the 'spit' verse with a bitchin Kirk solo.
