Bold prediction for Jack Swagger
I'll go out on a limb and say it. Jack Swagger is the next Randy Orton. They seem to be similar. He's decent in the ring, ok on the mic and actually has charisma during a match. He's got the size that WWE likes, big but not ripped. All just like Randy Orton.
I like his character. He's not quite crazy, just a little. Some people might hate that he smiles all the time but I find it a refreshing way to play a heel. Most of all his reaction to Ricky Ortiz's music playing last Tuesday was probably the best I've ever seen. He didn't just keep talking or act surprised like everyone else does. Of all the new superstars in ECW I think he's got the best chance to turn in to something big. Thoughts? |
No one will ever get to the level of success Randy Orton has achieved.

lol

I said a while ago that Swagger will be a world champ within a year. This guys has "it"

I could see Swagger being in a World Title picture in the future. He probably won't win the belt, maybe a U.S. or Intercontinental reign, but could be a part of the #1 Contender rotation. I'm trying to think of an equivalent that he could resemble, but I don't see him as the next Orton.
|

That said, I do think he has that "it" factor. I haven't seen very much of him but he seems to have a natural charisma about him, is big and has a good in-ring style. These will be the factors that will take him to the top. Very top? Maybe not, but I can see him being a big player on RAW or SmackDown! sometime in 2010. |
I don't see why people aren't digging the "All-American American" thing. It's just a witty attachment to Swagger's name to point out his amateur background and to prevent him from being "just a name." There's nothing offensive about it.
What I really like about Swagger, is the way he is actually playing a jerk. He's not just a guy we're meant to boo because Todd Grisham tells us to (for example) -- we actually have reason to want to see this guy get his ass kicked. He's making those who watch him care. He seems to be going after Matt Hardy's ECW Championship. To be honest, I think he may win it. I personally think it is too early, but I have the feeling the WWE wants to move the belt off Hardy soon. It seems they hinted William Regal, switched to Vladimir Kozlov, and are now teasing Jack Swagger for it. A suggestion for Jack Swagger: I'd like to see Swagger team up with Dolph Ziggler. They just seem quite a good fit, at the moment, and both on the rise so early into their stints. Putting them together could help slow them down and give them some great exposure. Fuck, let them hold the World Tag Team Championship on RAW and the WWE Tag Team Championship on SmackDown!. Really go all-out with them as a duo. I had this idea before I saw Ziggler on RAW, simply because he didn't seem to be heading towards anything there -- now I want to see it even more. |
Shut the fuck up noid.
|
Fuck off. Don't ruin my joy of getting TPWW back, you selfish dick.

Shut up noid

Can we get stricter spamming rules? Just to shut Xero and BDC up. They've added next to nothing relevant on Jack Swagger.

LOL, rules on TPWW. That'll be the day.
"They've added next to nothing relevant on Jack Swagger. " Really? Could have sworn I made a post up there about it. So if you're going to use that, neither have you for the past two posts. |
From what I have seen of Swagger, he is very average. And since noid likes him, that means he will go nowhere and be released some time next year after the forget to use him for like 6 months. He will either get injured or violate the wellness program after the start of his push, which will lead to him being forgot about for 6 months.
Then TNA will pick him up. He will do decent, get back in WWE and remain in midcarder hell. Shut up noid. |
I could EASILY see Swagger being a victim of the Wellness policy.

So shut the fuck up, and talk about Jack Swagger. :) |

1) Me telling someone like noid to shut up isn't a war.
2) I've been nothing but spam since day 1 and AAA loves me, I ain't going anywhere. |

Xero, you may be right, but I think Swagger is a big boy naturally. Nothing would surprise me (if Chavo and Funaki can get done for them, anyone can). I'd be more worried about Dolph Ziggler again, though. Hasney, I don't care when topics expand to cover more areas, but I am sick and tired of seeing good threads de-railed because of the same few idiots taking issue with me posting. I don't mind them disagreeing with me (hell, I'd prefer it if BDC did -- it means I'm heading on the right track), I just don't think it is fair to people who actually want to go into a thread and not have to see Noid vs. BDC/Xero/KK all the time. |
Quote:
But just for the record: Xero, you can't count. You made two posts regarding the topic. I've made two, but the rest were calling for it to go back to the topic after you made posts off-topic. We're at least on equal ground as far as "Relevant Posts" go. I beat you in the "not being a cunt" field. And just so you know -- no more "moves." I'm done with you, also. When someone is actually less funny than KK, you know they're miserable. |
1)The thread was derailed before I ever post. More often than not, your 5 page posts derail a thread because no one want to read how you think some lame wrestler should be pushed to the moon.
2) Maybe if you quit posting like an ass, people like me, xero, and kk would quit riding your ass. This is a 2 way street. |
Quote:
1) Four small paragraphs do not equate to a five-page post, moron. You are moronic. You cannot read, you cannot write...you are an idiot, BDC. That doesn't mean other people are. Show them some consideration. Some people actually read my posts, and give me positive or constructive feedback on them. If no one did that, I'd stop, and go to better wrestling forums. Unfortunately for you, some people here actually like to talk about wrestling -- deal with it. 2) Posting like an ass? You mean actually thinking and feeling something about what I post? What was "ass" about my post? Other than it was too long for you to read. Keep in mind, I do not care about the idiot demographic as much as I do the one that nurtures discussion and exchange of ideas. What's "ass" is you not being able to keep your bitter spite under control for at least one thread occasionally. If you, KK and Xero hate me so much, pretend I don't exist. I'd be more than happy to do the same to you. I'm just sick of discussions being culled off because some idiots haunt the wrestling forums. Xero and KK at least sometimes discuss things with you. I'll give you maybe one intelligent post per month -- if that? Anyway, now I am done. I couldn't give a fuck what you reply with next. Changing gears completely: What does everyone think of Jack Swagger's Gutwrench Powerbomb as a finisher? Is it too generic, or does Swagger pull it off OK? |
Know what I love about Noid? That even though we're clearly not going away, he goes off on us and does exactly what he tells us not to do. If he despised what we did so much he'd be the one ignoring us and not derailing threads even further.
|
Why would I pretend you don't exist, it is fun getting you all worked up and noided out.

To go with the next question Noid asked about Swagger's gutwrench powerbomb, I'm kinda 50-50 on it. It can work for him because of his size, I just don't like it because of how many times I've seen it in other matches and think "It's just another move they use".
|
He's banging Alicia Fox, that's all I care about.
|
Seeing as how my name's going to come up more times than Jack Swagger's anyway....
Quote:
On the topic, Swagger strikes me as utterly forgetable. He's not bad, and he might end up being one of those forgettable guys who goes somewhere for a while, but that's all I can see him. I wouldn't be shitting bricks if he got a big push (I even like the All-American-American gimmick to an extent), but I don't really expect it, either. |
This guy won't even be a Bobby Lashley.
|
I love the gutwrench powerbomb. One of the better and more unique finishing moves right now, especially of all the new ECW guys. When was the last time someone used that? I remember Wrath in WCW but there has to be someone since then.
And yes I love "The All-American American". It's somewhat comical but still has a serious feel to it. I doubt he'll still be called that if he makes it big but it shouldn't go away. |

I like him......I like him a lot. He has the "it" factor from what I see. He reminds me of a mix between Randy Orton and Kurt Angle. I don't know what his wrestling ability is like, but this guy seems to be the goods. |

As for the Gutwrench Powerbomb? I agree that it is sort of "just another move," but the last guy I remember using it on a semi-regular basis was Test. I think Swagger pulls it off well, but I don't know. I'd like to see him do something cooler. |
Just to be clear, Noid, I was repeating your own claims that you post to antagonise people like me. In fact, you named in explicitly in those claims in the past, as well as BDC and the like. I didn't say "every time," which alters the tone and intent of my post, and takes it--as you might say--"way off-centre."
As for The All-American-American, you were addressing people, which in and of itself implies more than one person. You tossed on at the end that it wasn't offensive, something nobody was really claiming, near as I can tell. You also didn't mention that you thought it was fine as a main event gimmick, you said something rather open about "digging" it. So what you meant was: Quote:

Quote:
I also continue to love the insistence that I am pissed. No, no I am not. It's just getting boring and distracting the same thing happening every thread. BDC sounds much angrier, but I'm sure he doesn't give two shits. Both Xero and Volare implied that they didn't see much long-term worth in the "All-American American" name. That is not "digging it." The point about it not being offensive? What the fuck are you on about? Is it offensive? No. Then stop arguing that I am wrong for saying so. That statement was in reference to it being perfectly fine as a main event moniker, which was in response to what Xero said about it not working at that level. I'm beginning to think you may actually be a low-level journalist somewhere. The taking of meaning, the inability to read or interpret subtext, the inability to connect A to B. I'm not going to do it for you all of the time, KK, because it's something I shouldn't have to do. If you can't gather from Xero and Volare's posts that they don't like the name "All-American American" from either a short-term or long-term perspective, and that I don't think there's anything wrong with it, there is no helping you. Also, I didn't mean what you posted. I was not just referring to Xero. I was not just referring to the main event value of the moniker. Don't speak for me. I'd rather not fill every sentence with inadvertent self-defacing irony and straw-man rhetorics. |
Jesus, Noid.

Buddha, Narc.

lol noid, you are such a douche.

Just think how important this arguing would be if wrestling was "real".
|
Just think how important it would be if we actually discussed wrestling. :p
I'm glad they've shifted Jack Swagger out of his generic tights into the black and blue wrestling singlet. And given him his own entrance theme. His aesthetics when he debuted were less than desirable. |
Personally, I'm not sold on him....yet
His wrestling is good, but the gimmick still seems forced to me, it doesn't seem natural. Plus i can't see anyone with a lisp being WWE champ any time soon |

Or Lesnar, if you want to get picky. |

LOL at Xero whinging.
It'll be interesting to see what they do with Swagger now that he seems to be going after Matt Hardy at the same time Vladimir Kozlov seems to be. I also get the feeling that Chavo Guerrero's match against Hardy on SmackDown! was a test to see how those two work together. It wouldn't surprise me to see a Fatal Four Way between them for the ECW Title at the Royal Rumble, or something. |
Quote:
|
Jim Ross is high on the guy, and reported that he has been getting a lot of positive reviews backstage, too. I think he'll be ECW Champion before too long. I'd rather see him with the IC or US Title, though. Start him off lower and work up. The ECW Title might not be the most credible belt in the WWE, but it being one by guys just a few months into their career is not going to make it look any better.
|
ECW is the equivelent of the IC or US title, Noid.
|
Let me first say that Jack Swagger's theme song is amazing. I want to listen to it all day, but unfortunately, I have to go to work sometimes.
Instead of them putting the ECW title on him right away though, I'd rather see him give Hardy a GREAT match before Ricky Ortiz runs in and costs Swagger the match. I liked the little back and forth they had before their match, and I would really like to see a feud between the two of them pan out. |
Quote:
They also include the ECW Champion in Champion of Champions Matches and the like. I'd consider it more important than both the IC and US Titles. Somewhere between the realms of legit World Title and mid-card title. |
Quote:
It's way too early to make Swagger ECW Champion, I agree. I'm looking forward to his matches with Matt Hardy, though. |
They toss in the ECW champion with the other world champions only when the feel like it. If the ECW champion is Bigshow, Bobby Lashley, or Matt Hardy they start almost treating it like a 3 world title, when someone like CM Punk or Morrison has it, then it is an opening match with no flair for a ppv.
|
Quote:
The Benoit stuff really hurt the ECW Title, I think. Before that, they were calling it the "ECW World Championship," and I'm sure that Benoit was meant to win the title at Vengeance: Night of Champions, and wrestle some matches with CM Punk, which would have been star-making stuff. I've said it before, but I think a Benoit/Punk blow-off with Punk finally winning the ECW World Title could have headlined a smaller PPV like Armageddon. As much as he is awesome, and I love him, Johnny Nitro winning the ECW Title sort of lowered it a bit, and got it stuck in a rut, of sorts. He now seems ready for something like the ECW Title, but back then, it feels like he only got the nod because they didn't want to pull the trigger with CM Punk, and Johnny Nitro was the most decorated guy on the ECW roster to fill in for Benoit. Then Punk won it, but beating John Morrison wasn't really like beating the best technical wrestler in the WWE, at the time. Then he lost it to Chavo Guerrero, and then they decided (for some reason), that the ECW Champion should compete in the Royal Rumble Match. It's an inconsistent road they've traveled, but I'm hoping Matt Hardy really raises the prestige. |
