Lost - Season 5 - Someone get Jack a drink!

I love drunk, pain killer addicted Jack. So many questions. Thing i'm pretty positive about. 1) Jin is alive. Its just logic. He knew the freighter was blowing any second and the helicopter was already gone. There was no time to come back and get him. He surely jumped off the ship. 2) Hurley is still fat. 3) Jack really looked like a bum at the end of season 4. It was great. The slow transformation of Jack from the very first ep to now is amazing. He went from being a good guy, a savior, a guy who didnt want to let people down, but stuck to his morals, to a guy who tried to kill Locke and basically would do anything to get everyone off the island, and in doing so, going against all his morals. Now he's a drunk bum back in the states and apparently ( i forget if they showed why) really did something bad to make Kate hate him. Great stuff.

Things i gotta know. 1) The polar bear that was in the desert when Ben left the island. That was a huge wtf. 2) Is Claire dead or alive or dead and alive? WTF? 3) One thing that someone reminded me of that i went back and watched in the 1st season was the scene where the pilot got killed by the black smoke monster and Kate, Charlie and Jack ran. And Jack came out of nowhere and looked funny and Kate and Charlie wondered where he went. That was weird. I wonder if something was up with that

Also, why didnt Ben kill Widmore? I wonder if Widmore is his constant?

And the Black Rock book that Widmore won at the auction. Whats the deal there. They said no one had read it but the family that owned it.

RP 12-27-2008 08:07 AM

Jin isnt dead for this reason i think. Why else would Sun go back? She has her baby and she thinks Jin is dead. Something has to make her think Jin is alive, or else she has no reason to return to the Island with the rest of the 5. She wouldnt just go back and leave her child or bring her child for that matter.

Also, i get this sneaking feeling that Sun will be a major badass. Like kicking peoples shit in to look for Jin, type bad ass.

El Fangel 12-27-2008 08:22 AM

I personally dont care and Im sure everyone is pretty much caught up but ya might want to change the title.

MAD PUMPED.

Cant wait, this show left so many questions. I wonder honestly who is still alive. Jin is a fisherman and obviously knew how to swim
SPOILER: show
Sawyer made it back to shore from the freighter, sure Jin could do it also

Cant wait. Also RP have you read the blog in the link Req posted?

RP 12-27-2008 08:26 AM

First.. screw spoilers. If they arent caught up, then they shouldnt be clicking the Season 5 thread.

Sawyer didnt swim it out from the freighter. He jumped off less then half way because the helicopter had too much weight on it.

I read that thing Req posted a long time ago, but i forget it now. He should repost.

El Fangel 12-27-2008 09:02 AM

Well still I think Jin could make it. Cant wait to see.

Supreme Olajuwon 12-27-2008 09:55 AM

Isn't it possible that the stuff with Jin running around with the stuffed panda was a flash forward scene? I mean that's what I figured it was. Maybe he got picked up by another boat and brought back to Asia. And then since Sun and her father are going to fight, perhaps Sun's father told Jin that Sun is dead or something.

no

He was running an eron ( sp? ) for Sun's dad, aka his boss. It was for some other business guy associate.

Supreme Olajuwon 12-27-2008 10:12 AM

I know that. I'm saying perhaps he goes back to work for Sun's dad in the future. And since they foreshadowed a dispute between Sun and her father, perhaps Sun's father will manipulate Jin in some way to have him come back to work.

Errand.

Also what if Suns dad told Jin she remarried or something but he continued to work for him, without Suns knowledge.

Supreme Olajuwon 12-27-2008 10:15 AM

YEAH

RP 12-27-2008 10:17 AM

No

The whole thing is that Jin think's he has to be Sun's, dads , slave. So these errands are important not to fuck up. I dont think they were foreshadowing, now look. I cant say that for positive because this show has potential to do that, but i think you guys are thinking way outside the box here. Why would Sun not know that Jin is still working for her father even though she thinks he's dead. Wouldnt make much sense after all the stuff they went through after the island.

RP 12-27-2008 10:22 AM

Nah.

Also another thing. Charlotte could understand Jin and Sun's language. There's something to that. There is a reason she can understand there language. Meaning there is a reason the writers made it so that she understood what they could say. That wasnt just a random thing imo. There's gunna be more there. No one but Sun could translate Jin completley. Now Charlotte can. And she's still on the island. So i'm positive he's alive. No doubt.

Supreme Olajuwon 12-27-2008 10:25 AM

It's the mob, man. They have all sorts of secret connections. He could be in China or Japan for all we know.

RP 12-27-2008 10:29 AM

That would totally go against what we know about the Jin/ Sun relationship though. Plus they have a kid now. I just cant believe that Jin wouldnt even try to make contact with her.

Watch that episode again. I will. I got it on my computer. It was settled there. It was a tease episode. You were made to believe that it was scene's from after they got off the island and then at the end, it wasnt.

RP 12-27-2008 10:30 AM

The whole episode was made to believe that Jin was trying to buy a bear for HIS son, because Sun was in labor. But at the end, it turned out to be an associate of Sun's dad who he was running an errand for.

Supreme Olajuwon 12-27-2008 10:47 AM

it could've been a double swerve. Like after you watch the episode you're like oh ok Jin's actually dead and that was just a flashback to when he still worked for Sun's father when in actuality it WAS a flash forward but not a flash forward you could've predicted.

El Fangel 12-27-2008 11:08 AM

I like where that discussion is going.

What if...What if...

Suns dad made Jin get that present for his associate while Sun was in labor...

He seems the type of asshole who would do something like that.

Supreme Olajuwon 12-27-2008 11:43 AM

I'm most excited to see what happens with Linus and Sayid. Gonna be sweeeeeeeeeeet

http://www.timelooptheory.com

Still the most solid theory of this show that I've read.

RP 12-28-2008 07:54 AM

" 1. "He changed the rules" According to the theory, in Ben's original timeline, Alex didn't die. When Widmore's men killed Alex, they altered the events that had happened in Ben's original timeline. Ben was completely shocked because he didn't think that Alex could die in the new timeline, given she survived in the original timeline. Thus, he has to balance the universe by trying to make up for her death: Killing Penny."

I like this theory

RP 12-28-2008 07:57 AM

I dont think Ben even knows Desmond. I dont recall a scene with them in it together.

El Fangel 12-28-2008 11:50 AM

Your right, I cant remember one either. Also makes me wonder if Ben resetting the timeline again would cause Jin to be alive if he did die.

Optimus Bone 69 12-28-2008 04:28 PM

Its all getting a wee bit Quantum Leapish people

Dave Youell 12-28-2008 06:54 PM

Ok this whole Sun/Jin thing

As far as I was concerned, it was one in the past for Jin and one in the future for Sun.

You really think if Jin was still working for Sun's Dad that they wouldn't of crossed paths? Even just walking randomly on the streets as he was doing jobs like picking up a teddy bear?

Hanso Amore 12-29-2008 02:13 PM

That theory is pretty good.

I am so pumped for this shit.

The thing I hate about this show is that while I think they had a broad idea of the entire series in the start, but have added and dropped so many things.

Like I honestly doubt we will ever find out why there were dead people in the cave in season 1, or why there was a 4 toed statue, or what the smoke monster really is, and the numbers etc.

El Fangel 12-29-2008 02:31 PM

But the release date for teh Pilot was

Sept 24th

Add 108 days to that and see which day it lands on.

My bad, I meant the 22nd, Thats the day they crashed. Had to wiki it.

Hanso Amore 12-29-2008 03:29 PM

I am still missing the relevance of the 8th/10th

Call me retarded if I am, but I am just missing any point of it.

El Fangel 12-29-2008 03:33 PM

Write it out as

Month/Day or MM/DD

Hanso Amore 12-29-2008 03:34 PM

Also...Ben is trying to round up everyone who left.

I wonder if that means they need to find Desmond, who is on the run with Penny...

And Ben Wants to Kill penny.

Ooooooooo

What if it is all a ploy to get to Penny...

Supreme Olajuwon 12-29-2008 04:33 PM

Well 108 does have a big part in the show. As you probably already know:

4 + 8 + 15 + 16 + 23 + 42 = 108

That code must be put into the computer every 108 minutes.

Also 108 is a significant number in Hinduism which seems tied into the Dharma Initiative.

I will blow a fuse if we don't find out about the Four Toed Statue this season!!

Hanso Amore 01-01-2009 07:44 PM

I just finished watching season 4 again ( I just watched all seasons start to finish) and I have to say that Desmond and Penny and their stories have been the best TV I have seen in years. jesus, the Constant episode is so damn good, and when they finally get together it has been the best moment of this show.

God I hope they play major roles in this coming season.

RP 01-01-2009 07:55 PM

yah that episode gets me every time. I think its because the guy playing Desmond is so huggable that you're rooting for him the whole time. Hopefully there story line dont jump the shark in season 5.

El Fangel 01-01-2009 08:09 PM

Seriously was on the edge of my seat when Desmond was calling. I thought he would get a wrong number to be honest.

Lock Jaw 01-01-2009 08:37 PM

Yeah, me too. And before they finally got together, I was sure that while they were running towards each other in dramatic fashion that one or both of them would get... spontaneously mauled by a leopard or something.

Hanso Amore 01-13-2009 08:30 PM

I just re-watched the Constant, and Faraday said something that got me going!

"You cant Change the future"

The Future is set. Time is already laid out. It is destiny.

This is why Ben didnt think they would Kill Alex, and by killing Ale, time was changed, and Widmore Changed the rules.

By leaving the Island, they changed the future, which is why they need to go back. To right the timeline.

The Island is the key to time travel. Ben and the Others are protectors of the timeline. Widmore wants to change history.

How would they know they changed the future when the future hasnt happend? Unless everything that is happening is actually the past and maybe Ben traveled back in time to change something and now realized the whole future was changed. Maybe this whole thing has happend already and Ben traveled back in time to mess with something (who knows what ) and by doing so changed everything. So he's now traveled back in time again to fix things. He was confident Alex would not have been shot at that moment because he had already lived through that moment and it was a different outcome. But sense things were changed, she was shot.

I dont know if this is making sense.

You made sense. And I like it.

But to anwer your question...

Many people look at time as the 4th Dimension, and think of time as a Linear Path. Like some think you cannot change the future because it hasnt happened yet...but some say you CAN change the future, a la Terminator, because it WILL happen. Some take it further (The Book Rant) and suggest time is laid out, and everything is set in place before it happens.

Somehow Ben Knows the future, and how it is suppose to be.

Requiem 01-14-2009 12:24 PM

Lock Jaw 01-15-2009 01:35 PM

I predict that the real ending will be something silly and simple, that disappoints everybody who has all these complicated theories of time loops and aliens and whatever.

Supreme Olajuwon 01-15-2009 07:09 PM

So how does death work in this show? Is it a fulfilling your destiny thing or is it a doing the right thing redemptive kinda deal? Cause like the last episode with Michael who tried to kill himself but couldn't finally died after he saved everyone on the boat. Same thing with Charlie. They both expelled their demons by being heroic. But then Mr. Eko had already expelled his demons pretty much but still died.

What are the death theories

XL 01-16-2009 04:23 AM

I've heard theories incorporating what you're getting at (that the Island 'lets them go once they have redeemed themselves) it seems to lend itself to the pergatory theory that I believe has already been rebuffed.

Can't believe Season 5 starts NEXT WEEK!!

Worst story line of the whole show was Shannon hooking up with Syad. LOL . I'm sorry, but if i'm stranded on the island, i'm not building fires and catching fish for no hoe i just met 5 days ago or something. If she wants to go in the woods and have a fury fuck, fine. Otherwise she could go fuck herself.

Requiem 01-17-2009 06:45 AM

Watching this one scene doesnt really do the whole episode justice because you dont see the part where he tells her to answer the phone at that precise moment like 4 years earlier or something and you get the feeling that she thinks he's become a total whack job.

I think Walt will have something important to do with the story, but I'm not sure what yet.

Walt will definitely be in season 5

Maybe it has to do with the way Jack and Co. left. Ben says the island won't let Jack back without everyone who left with him, but Walt left with Michael.

But i remember the one black chick who was one of " the other's " saying somthing about how Walts has special powers and they fear him or something along those lines. And thats why they were willing to let him go with Michael. I'm wondering if Walt is a major player in this whole Island story. Maybe something to do with his mother. Remember she got a job and moved away from Michael? Did they ever elaborate on what her job was? If the Walt storyline isnt sured up in a big way before this is all over, I'll be so dissapointed with this series.

Yeah, I guess at that point they wouldn't have let Walt go if they weren't done with him. Ben (I think it was Ben that let them go) is always careful with his word choice, but at that point The Others have the situation pretty in hand, so if they needed to wait before giving Michael and Walt the ride home they probably could.

John Locke is the single greatest television character of all time.

I love watching this all again. Probably the only show I can watch from start to finish a second time and love every single bit of it. I am on episode 18 in season 1 right now, and everything about this show is amazing. Seriously, if people who don't like this show only watched one episode along the way somewhere and didn't like it, then they are doing themselves a disservice. I hate people who scoff or whatever when I mention the show, because they obviously have never watched this show from the beginning.

I remember before season 4 started, a friend was watching this and I was like "EH.. never looked interesting." and they told me I should really watch it from the beginning. So I downloaded it all, and ended up spending a few weeks watching it from the very beginning and I couldn't stop watching. Seriously the greatest show on television.

Technically, since Michael and Charlie (and possibly Jin, although obvioulsy not and if he is I will be so pissed) are dead on the bottom of the ocean and the island is gone, won't they need to go get their bodies and bring them to the island's new location?

Requiem 01-20-2009 02:58 AM

I would assume it was the island that allowed them to die (at least in micheal's situation), thus the island doesn't want them back.

I guess.

I hope Tom makes an appearance this season. He was always my favorite Other.

I think the island only wants the six that left as a group, and it's all or none.

I wonder if Widmore will use Walt to get to the island.

God, I love this show. And I know this is a great show because I watch it with a childlike anticipation and suspension of belief. Normally in shows or movies where everything coincidentally falls into place I'm like "Oh yeah whatever." But in this show where EVERYTHING is like that, even the slightest moments make me go "Holy shit no fucking way." Like even small stuff like finding out Desmond was in the the hatch is so exciting. Although a lot of that excitement may have just been because Desmond is awesome. Probably my favorite character on the show
