People in Laos probably don't hate Cena.

I don't like Cena cause I can't see him, and I don't like things that I can't see, like air and the space between glass and ninjas. If he made himself more visible I might change my perspective on this Cena character.

I have to disagree.

In recent times there has been marked recognition in this forum for the work Cena does for charities, kids, troops etc.

We have also acknowledged his work ethic for the WWE.

What we "mostly" agree on is that he can't wrestle.

And that the way he's pushed is obnoxious

Really, I don't know too many people that genuinely hate Cena. I just know alot of people who are tired of seeing him. There's such thing as too much

There's no denying that he is one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) money-spinners for the WWE - in this respect, he is a HUGE success.

However, that doesn't mean I have to like him as a wrestler.

I actually hope it's real and not a sock. I just don't think socks are funny. Complete sincerity attached to this would make it a lot more amusing, not to make fun of the poor kid.

People generally dislike Cena because he's a G-rated paper-cut personality attached to a boringly rigid moveset. He's one of the most pretentious acts in the company, and although he's actually a talented wrestler, they never let him work to his in-ring strengths.

He was shoved down our throats as this do-gooder babyface, even though what made him stand-out in the first place was this "I don't give a fuck attitude." What's worse is that they still try to sell him as a guy fighting the world, what with his "controversial" crowd reactions and "beating the odds" storylines.

He's always the champion for some reason too, which is just boring. And even though he sells merchandise, Cena has not proven to be a massive draw, in the most traditional sense of the word.

Plus, he did those God-awful things to the WWE Title and US Title, for which he may never be forgiven.

Cena himself does not seem like a bad guy and he does try. However, I hate his massive push to the top and character the most. Though I also hate most of his main moves. The F-U and 5 knuckle shuffle are terrible. And I still don't know if he can correctly apply the stfu.

He doesn't even need to be a heel, but just a bad ass face, and I would actually like him. But he is really just a puppet that plays to the crowd too much, especially little kids.

Everyone says this every couple of days, but if John Cena turned heel, his whole dynamic would change. The way he spoke, the way he wrestled, even his image. Everything about him would be so fresh and new. When they do turn Cena heel, it will be fucking massive, I'll give them that.

Also, as horrible as this may be to say...I do not mind the STFU. I'm glad people shit all over Cena's execution on mere principle, but to be honest, if Cena trapped one of your legs, and then pulled back on your neck, I'm pretty sure that would fucking hurt.

Yeah I think a Cena Heel turn could put him back up there where he was when he first picked up the rapper gimmic. I just find it sad that his character has had little to no growth what so ever. I mean when you hold him up next to Batista and Orton for character growth and wrestling ablities, I think Cena comes under Batista when it comes down to it. That's sad within itself.

As for the STFU. It's ok. I was just glad he got another move.

Oh and I'm so tired of his "Oh look I'm a fan too!" BS. Ok fine, your a fan. So is Edge, but you don't see him rambling on endless about it. Also if Cean was a fan and not a http://www.sparkimg.com/emoticons/sheepish.gif he would know what the real fans think about him.

Personally, I would rather see Cena sell out and align himself with a McMahon as his heel turn. Just a way of him thanking the McMahons for selling so much of his merchandise. The McMahons then start putting his face on every kind of product. "You Can't See Me Laundry Detergent", "The Champ is Here Cereal", the list can go on and on.

The reason people hate Halo is because it was terribly over hyped and is in fact, quite an average game. The only reason Halo made it to where it was is because it came out on a system, that at the time, had no games. Thus it was championed because it was just a little above average.

They're only long cause the WWE has gotten us used to these crazy short title reigns. I'm way more pissed edge's last reign was only 30 days than I am Cena held it for like, 11 months or so.

I would say he's bland only insofar as he's pushed in a very bland fashion. The guy's charismatic and very capable of wrestling; he's just being asked to play a guy who doesn't sell and knows five moves. He showed variety and psychology early on, and I doubt he's forgotten all that recently.

So I would say his bland, but that relates to the obnoxious way he's been pushed.

I'd blame Cena just to see Destor's head explode. I wanna look inside and see what meth does to your brain.

My problem with Cena is his lack of any kind of real, intense edge to his character. He's said it before in interviews: nobody writes lines for him - they give him the basics of what they want him to say and he goes out and does his own thing. That's the problem. His "own thing" is often vanilla white icing. Yeah, it's good - tastes good, looks good - but it's bland as all fuck, and god damn it, it's on top of the cake and that's what we're going to get.

For example, "Cena is Poopy" is still fucking unforgivable to me, and I'm willing to bet that it was his fucking call to write that shit. Just awful.

Austin had edge - Rock had edge - Triple H had edge - Sting had edge - hell, even Samoa Joe has more of an edge than John Cena. I don't truly blame the guy for this - I think that edge and that "cool factor" are part of who you are as a human being, and Cena simply doesn't have that.

If cenas gimmick was the same as it was on smackdown with the "freestyles" and inuendos it would have had more steam. It seems that around the time he won his first world title he got toned down to generic grinning good guy.

Vinces's "bag o' gimmicks" must be getting pretty thin on originality, if it ever had any to begin with.

I will say again, I do not have any problem with John Cena as a person. He's a good worker with talent and has respect for the business. But, his storylines are boring, his gimmick is bland, and he needs freshened up like nobody's business. They've spent too much time making him Stone Cold 2 instead of Cena 1.

I see Cena as a hybrid of Austin, Rock and Hogan. He's got the "edge" of Austin, the "snappiness" of Rock and the "wholesome image" of 80's Hogan.

Unfortunately, it's not a good recipe.

As I've said in the past, Cena has everything he needs to be over at around an Austin or a Rock level but the writing and general image of the company is keeping him back.

No, I'm saying they spent all their time trying to build him up as the anti-authority, anti-hero odds-beater. They saw a heel that the fans were eager to get behind, like Austin had been, but they screwed up when instead of riding the wave the fans dictated, they turned him into a face while stripping him of a lot of the qualities that made him popular.

John Cena as a company man = Great.
John Cena's in-ring ability = Great. Yeah, it's debatable, but I think he's a pretty solid wrestler.
John Cena the character = Utter crap.

I still have no clue why the WWE stripped his character of all his redeeming qualities. He gives Rock-like promos where he is not funny, and his year-long title reign in 2006-2007 was one of the most ridiculous reigns I've seen. Two PPV matches with Umaga and two PPV matches with Khali? Yeah, I wonder who will win those matches...

It was obvious that at no point in his feud with Orton were the WWE going to let Orton go over him. I was actually relieved Cena went on the shelf because it forced them to use Orton. Then, in 2008, we have Jericho in his prime and what do they do? Have Cena beat him for the title on his first night back, then decisively beat him again the next PPV just to make sure we all know who's the boss.

I wish the WWE would push him like a top-level talent and give him some character rather than trying to push him as the franchise of the WWE.

They do prefer the Whopper to Cena though.

Of course the easy answer to this question is that I am not under the age of 14, nor am I a female, therefore I do not fit his demographic and will still continue to hate him.

But why hate him?

Seems most of us are in agreement that we dislike the way he has been used - his bland character, his by-the-numbers promos, endless pushes, etc.

Personally I think Cena is a blessing to an industry that the general media makes out to be populated by drug-addled, roided-out, painkiller poppers (I'm not saying that that assessment isn't true). He seems to be a nice guy, loves wrestling and can work a decent match - Vince just needs to let him.
