FIELD GOAL!! *Spoilers*

So Orton punts Vince's head off.

Where do we go from here?

BobBitchen 01-19-2009 11:28 PM

it is 1027 here you posted at 1023 arter raw ended and you got spoilers?:wtf:

Nark Order 01-19-2009 11:31 PM

Try posting news like this without a spoiler warning and see what happens. *Cue Gohan*

The obvious choice here is for Orton to have to deal with Shane but I'm wondering if Vince is actually up to the challenge for Mania. Not like he hasn't done it before.

James Steele 01-19-2009 11:34 PM

Randy Orton becomes a monotonous vicious killing machine.

Nark Order 01-19-2009 11:36 PM

They are really making the THE monster heel now.

HTrain90 01-19-2009 11:45 PM

All I can say is that Randy Orton's character now is the best in the business. Bar none.

RGWhat316 01-20-2009 12:01 AM

That was a mark out moment. I actually cheered when that happened.

Lock Jaw 01-20-2009 12:23 AM

Where do we go from here?

Next week, Vince McMahon returns and the microwave explodes while he is warming up a Pillsbury Pizza Pop.

The next week, Vinnie Mac returns to get mauled by a leopard while walking the hallway.

The following week he accidentally drowns in the bathtub.

And so on.

I thought this now played live overseas (granted that's still 2AM, but still live).

Anyway, definitely a mark out moment...wrestling has been so predictable to me, that something out of the ordinary is awesome.

Destor 01-20-2009 12:43 AM

The optimist negged repped me for my Buffy posting. Know this Mr.Optimist: there is no greater insult than what you have done, and this means war.

The Optimist 01-20-2009 12:45 AM

I evened it out, you vile beast.

Destor 01-20-2009 12:47 AM

The notion of neggin Buffy is the issue here, not the red dot itself. I will forgive you, just this once, simply based on the fact you raised the white flag in such haste. Nut you're on thin ice pal.

The Optimist 01-20-2009 12:50 AM

It was Buffy Sims, dude. That made the difference. If it had been the song by itself I would have laughed and left it at that. But it was a video made from Sims about the song, choreographed to their movements with pretty damn accurate faces and everything. You knew what you were doing and where you were going with that.

KYR 01-20-2009 12:52 AM

I'd quit while I was ahead here TO.

Destor 01-20-2009 12:54 AM

ITS BACK ON

Dorkchop 01-20-2009 12:59 AM

Orton's immediate reaction after the punt is what made me mark out. The slap, light kick, and then punt were all awesome, but his acting was so well done.

Seriously though..... the slap was amazing on its own. I was like "what's going to happen now" then he bitch kicked him and punted him.

Orton has the potential to be one of the best characters for years. If he can pick up the pace in the ring just a little bit he'll be one of the only things I look forward to every week.

Now I'm excited for next week's Raw. He's probably going to win the Rumble. I hope he doesn't. I'd love for a surprise winner this year.

My theory was the Shane thing in the Raw thread. I am still comfortable with that.

The Optimist 01-20-2009 01:08 AM

Randy apparently has some critical hit powers even for non-fans because I usually can't give him the time of day, but the whole kicking scene was too good.

Dorkchop 01-20-2009 01:11 AM

The slow motion replay was great.

James Steele 01-20-2009 01:16 AM

Randy Orton wins the Rumble and the McMahons will go through hell to make sure he doesn't headline WrestleMania. This could be an awesome rehash of the whole angle from 1999 only with the heel/face roles switched.

The Optimist 01-20-2009 01:32 AM

Awesome and Rehash don't work together.

James Steele 01-20-2009 01:32 AM

Jim Cornette Rule

Johnny Vegas 01-20-2009 02:14 AM

That RKO chant he got told me something right then and there...a legend is born.

hitman23 01-20-2009 02:34 AM

What if Shane comes back aligned with Legacy? He fits right in considering they are all second or third generation stars. He could be the reason Orton doesnt get fired. He can feud against dad and sis. Either way it goes Orton broke through the glass ceiling on raw tonight in my opinion.

Bingo. I'm not thinking that they'll do it, but we're way past the Cornette Rule expirary date on the whole Austin/McMahon thing.

I am yet to actually see the segment, but just looking at the pictures, I thought it would be stupid, but reading reports, it sounds chilling. "You don't want to do that, sir." Orton is far from a great actor, but he's got this character down pat, and is only getting more and more in tune with it.

I'm starting to see what Paul Heyman sees in Randy Orton. I'm just wondering if The Legacy is the best thing for Orton right now, or whether he'd be better off as a lone wolf type character.

Some people have guessed that Shane McMahon will join The Legacy, and give them backing, which I think would be very cool. I've seen some say that Randy Orton is in cahoots with Stephanie McMahon, and she wanted him to take out her dad. Either way, I think we'll see a McMahon stand by Orton's side to make sure he gets into the Rumble Match. And to be honest, after RAW, he'll probably win.

.44 Magdalene 01-20-2009 06:31 AM

Yeah, I marked out for both Mike Knox and Randy Orton tonight. I feel... unclean.

Impact! 01-20-2009 08:26 AM

First time in at least 6 months I'm actually making sure I watch RAW...

PorkSoda 01-20-2009 09:07 AM

Orton punted Vince's head off?

Another Vince is dead angle...,.

Hanso Amore 01-20-2009 10:09 AM

That kick was the hotness, it looked like he really caught Vince GOOD.

I loved it all...its like Orton slapped him, then lost it and coudnt stop himself from punting Vince, then his reaction afterward was great. LIke "What did I do!?!?!"

I loved it,.

The problem here is it looks like they are trying to make him a heel by beating down the biggest heel of them all...He is going to end up as SCSA part 2. Or HBK/DX part 2.

I see what they did with jericho, take the top heel, make the McMahons fuck with him to put them in the Face light, but it just doesnt work with that.

The Mcmahons cannot be faces anymore, except Linda.

Sometimes, but he also can be the heel, which has has been more recently (Against DX).

No one will root for him unless he is up against Vince or defending his mom.

Impact! 01-20-2009 10:34 AM

The McMahons are like Kane, they can switch between face and heel every week and still be accepted by the fans.

Xero 01-20-2009 10:44 AM

Calling it now, it's going to be Vince or Shave vs Jericho at Mania.

The Optimist 01-20-2009 10:50 AM

Shave, lol.

I wonder how they would expect face-Vince to work.

Impact! 01-20-2009 11:02 AM

I would like to see Shave Vs Jericho

Legend Killer 01-20-2009 11:05 AM

Orton's Punt= Ratings.

That

Jordan 01-20-2009 11:58 AM

Shave vs. Jericho with Mike Knox as special guest ref.

Jeritron 01-20-2009 12:41 PM

I called Shane vs Jericho a while ago, but I'm not going to make a stink. Believe it or not I was suggesting before the "firing" stuff even came up

Jeritron 01-20-2009 12:42 PM

Shave vs Jericho would be far better tho

Sepholio 01-20-2009 12:54 PM

Orton has come a long way from bland mainevent heel #3.

BigDaddyCool 01-20-2009 01:14 PM

Oddly enough, this teaches me, that in WWE, if you knock out Vince before he can finish his sentence, you get to keep your job for at least another week.

Evolution001 01-20-2009 01:49 PM

I hope this angle doesnt keep orton out of the mainevent at wrestlemania, I can see vince or shave facing him if thats the way they want to go.

Hanso Amore 01-20-2009 02:07 PM

Goddamn, how fucking Bad Ass was that shit.

You're Fir...... *SLAP*

Afterlife 01-20-2009 04:02 PM

He's still nothing special to me. I don't see anything great about him.

NeanderCarl 01-20-2009 05:03 PM

NeanderCarl 01-20-2009 08:04 PM

If Sgt Slaughter had been there, that never would have happened.

Vince fucked up.

Hanso Amore 01-20-2009 08:17 PM

Actually, this could have been better.

After the Punt, had orton done his whole "Coil up" thing and just stared at vince's unconscious face like an inch away. Just total Ice.

Nark Order 01-20-2009 08:32 PM

MAH, YOU GREEDY FUCK!

Hanso Amore 01-20-2009 08:58 PM

WHAT?!?! I just think it could have made Orton the craziest fuck ever. Instead he might get face pops.

thedamndest 01-21-2009 12:23 AM

That's what they're trying to prevent now though. That don't want Stone Cold Randy Orton. He's already getting RKO chants when Cena is supposed to be the face. I'm actually starting to think it may be Steph that he aligns with. She's more hateable than Shane.

That's what I'm sayin'

thedamndest 01-21-2009 12:28 AM

I don't see you sayin' that.

thedamndest 01-21-2009 12:29 AM

Oh, yes I do.

Jeritron 01-21-2009 12:31 AM

I agree that Steph's more hateable, if you will, but I still don't think that makes her the better fit. Shane's not far behind when it comes to getting heat, and he has the whole "son of a legend" thing going on. He can also wrestle.

Shane can't wrestle...he just happens to be as crazy of a spot monkey as Jeff Hardy. However, guess that's more than Steph still.

thedamndest 01-21-2009 12:49 AM

I think there is potential that they will both join for the purpose of Shane taking bumps. Double McMahon heat for Orton would cancel out any face pops for him for a bit while the Legacy acts a second-gen Corporation. Cena would probably nab Kofi and CM. Eventually they do the Hart/Austin switch somehow during a match after Orton becomes a tweener and has dropped DiBiases/Rhodes.

Jeritron 01-21-2009 12:52 AM

First of all he's a promoters son. He's not a wrestler. I simply mean that he winds up in a lot of good matches. Sure, they're 'spotfests', but they're well worked spotfests. He's not CZW shit, they're actually well put together matches. Some people call Mick Foley and Raven spot monkeys.
He's a lot of fun to watch, and as far as promoters sons go he's much better to watch than Greg Gagne.

Jeritron 01-21-2009 12:53 AM

I should have phrased it "Shane can have matches"

Juan 01-21-2009 01:04 AM

Fuck whoever calls Raven a spot monkey

Jeritron 01-21-2009 01:12 AM

......oh Orton...

Afterlife 01-21-2009 05:56 AM

Nah. Sorry. Orton has virtually no entertainment value as a person. The segment was fine, except that Steph has the ability to kill the energy in any given room and for Randy's completely nonsensical "freakout" after the punt. But Randy as a person? He's still a fence post, to me.

Anybody Thrilla 01-23-2009 01:56 PM

In kayfabe terms, Orton would almost HAVE to align with Stephanie. With Vince being out of commission RIGHT after announcing that he and Stephanie would run Raw together, that should leave Stephanie as the sole person in charge of Raw. If she would fire Jericho just for saying that she sucked at her job, why would she not fire Orton for murdering her father? Stephanie being in cahoots with Orton is actually the only thing that would make sense here. Even Shane wouldn't have the power to save Orton's job, I don't think.
