Looks cool. Hopefully the game itself is good.

I take it it's based off the Arkham Asylum graphic novel, which might be my favorite Batman gn.
Only difference is that at the beginning this says Joker is apprehended, and springs a trap. As I remember, Joker isn't captive but is rather holding a nurse hostage at Arkham and that's what lures Batman in.

Either way, looks cool.

Well if it's an original story, it's not entirely original. We shall see how it unfoulds, but the basic idea is the exact same as the graphic novel of the same name.

Batman ends up chasing Joker through Arkham in a trap, where all the nuts are running the nuthouse.
The beginning with Batman and Gordon meeting, and the depiction of Joker seem the same too. Visually it's the same as well. Tone, design, color, etc.
You name it, it matches up.

This is shaping up to be the best batman game ever. It also brings back memories of old Batman show from the 90's with Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, glad there voicing them in this.

Its seems Marks Jokers voice has changed some . But still awesome that hes doing it.

Batman: Arkham Asylum's collector's edition could be a bittersweet proposition, if a GameStop listing is any indication. Bitter in its ridiculous $100 price of admission, sweet in the fact that it includes a 12" batarang. Sure, there are other items in this supposed collector's edition version of the game, such as a DC custom encyclopedia, DLC Pack 1, soundtrack, and behind-the-scenes DVD, but all of that pales in comparison to being able to literally fight crime. Just rent a costume from your local shop, paint your car black, and you, dear friend, are a superhero. Then it's only a matter of finding Falcone ...

Has anybody else played the demo of this? God fucking damn that shit's enjoyable. I'll be fucking some dude up, and another goon will roll up behind me and try to kick me in the ribs. I'll catch his fucking leg in mid-move, elbow him in the face, then turn around and be like WHAT BITCH I'M BATMAN.

Bane's a monster. Not really his character but I don't mind. Harley's creepy.

I think the "cut me down" at the beginning was subtley alluding to him being mostly sane until... well... OHSHITTHAT'SALOTOFVENOM. OVERDOSEONROIDJUICEIT'SCRAZYTIME

I just found out this morning that the Sony rep put the demo in our PS3 at work and I played it the first chance I got. The controls seemed alright and the motions of Batman and his moves alone are awesome and seem exactly what Batman would do. My favorite thing about the game so far though has got to be the reversals. I had a blast just waiting for guys to punch me so I could grab their arms and throw them or knock their legs out from under them.

The demo is some sort of Challenge thing where you have to take on like four criminals at once...then five...then so on and so forth. I only got to play the first two rounds before I had to go back to work but it was pretty funny. Would love if that demo would pop on XBL this week.

Yeah, the game actually gets funnier and funnier as they add more goons, because then you get to go fucking crazy with reversals.

Fuckin' Gamestop. Hopefully when I go to trade in a bunch of shit they'll have the demo. I'll be so pissed if we're not getting a demo because of an America only in store demo.

Pretty cool.
It was the challenge mode or whatever.
The combat alone looks like it could get repetitive though..there is more to the game tho.

Go to a Toys R Us...and now thats where I have seen the demo the most. It should be in all their PS3 demo systems.

There are 2 Toys R Us stores within a reasonable distance of me and neither has a big enough space to stick a demo stand in their vg section. Gonna trade a bunch of shit in on Tuesday or Thursday since I'll be in the area and can drop by Gamestop. I'll try it then if they have it.

Release date has slipped to "late summer 2009". Sigh.

The Dark Knight is finally ready examine the bats in Arkham Asylum's belfry on August 25 in North America and August 28 in Europa. The game had previously been delayed to "late summer" from its June 23 release date, so the wait doesn't appear to be much longer, but it's already felt like a Ra's al Ghul lifetime.

Remember that if you're not looking to play so seriously, that the Joker will be an "exclusive" character in the PS3 version of the game. Batman: Arkham Asylum will be playable at E3 next week and we'll be sure to give our updated hands-on impressions of the game that might actually do Batman justice.

My time with the PS3 demo was fun. It seemed as though Bats was over-powered, but that idea pretty much nailed the character. And it does look better the more guys try to attack you. Hopefully harder difficulties make goons more aggressive.

Sweet trailer. I'd be all "I NEEDS A PS TRIPLE RITE NOWS!" but these days, "exclusive" means "timed exclusive" We'll get Joker eventually on 360.

Ugh the wait is killing me.

PC users gotta wait. It's getting pushed back to Sept. 13th North America, Sept. 18th in Europe. However, for those with an Nvidia GeForce card, the wait is worth it because PhysX tech will be put to good use.

I got GamesMaster magazine today to read the review, they gave it 96%.

The demo is kind of short, but I like it.

Yeah, I was disappointed when the Demo ended. A friend of mine spent a couple hours doing multiple ways of handling the baddies in the final area. Playing up to that point time and again is not something I could see myself doing, so I settled for one playthrough. I love the "drop down" predator style "kills."

And I think I got one of the baddies to hose another baddy for the kill. Not entirely sure if that's what happened though.

Could well have done. When I got down to the last 2 they stayed together for ages, one of them was moving around by the boiler and got freaked out by something, started shooting randomly.

My little cousin and I were screwing around with that final area in the demo and our favorite thing we did was when we tied one of the baddies up on the Gargoyle thing we would wait till someone was underneath it and then cut the rope with the batarang. The guy fell and would knock out the other one.

Not a huge Batman fan, but the demo was pretty awesome. Graphics are sweet as hell. Digging Harley's new costume to :naughty:

I watched my cousin play this yesterday on his PS3 and I really can't wait for it to come out.

I'm not a Batman fan but I'm enjoying the demo. I might pick up the full game.

I like the combat system quite alot and the graphic are really impressive, to me.
The final part of the demo is cool. I like trying out different things to. Just now, I hid ontop of one of the stone gargoyles and waited for an enemy to pass by underneath. I press Y and Batman did the "Predator style kill" KK mentioned and leaves him hanging by his foot before swinging to another gargoyle. Two other enemies come to see whats going on and, when they reach the hanging enemy, I cut the rope with a Batarang and he falls to the ground, landing on and killing the two enemies bellow.
I've also found a spot in the "Office" type section of final area lat lets you hide in the floor and come up behind enemies.

I've not been keeping up with the development of the game but I'm guessing they are allowing creativity with the combat and kills. I hope there is more of this kind of freedom to be creative in the full game.

In Canada on The 25th, it's available at Walmart for $38.83

just beat this game, loved every freakin' moment of it. No question its the greatest comic book gamer ever made and is in the running for Game of the Year (which it wont get cuz of COD:MW2, but still)

Yeah, the armoured batsuit is for completing the game. It can only be used in challenge mode so you'll have to complete a bit of them game before you can try it out!

...I've been playing that game for damn near 5 hours, and it felt like 5 minutes.... This might be the greatest game EVER!
