Is anyone else tried of Rey v hosses and monsters?

Not only that Rey can take a million times more punishment than they can, it looks so unrealistic. And here is the thing that really gets me, how can Rey take all this and still win, while Jamie Noble gets utterly destroyed in seconds by the exact same monsters Rey faced the week before?

Volare 02-17-2009 11:01 AM

He's da batman!

Londoner 02-17-2009 11:02 AM

I don't give a shit about Rey atm, tbh.

Volare 02-17-2009 11:04 AM

Now that I think about it, every PG show needs its Superhero! Hurricane Helms just turned down the job to Rey.

6to1 02-17-2009 11:25 AM

yea i was sick of that back in wcw days, i think that is all that ray wants to wrestle. i wish vince would bring back the light weight div or let all the small guys go to tna or roh.

Afterlife 02-17-2009 11:28 AM

Rey the biggest little guy they've got. And Noble's not allowed to be popular.

Maluco 02-17-2009 11:30 AM

Its strange, because the hosses, like Knox, seem to man handle him in the build up to matches, and thewn come match time, like you say, he seems to win everytime.

As adult watchers it is difficult to suspend belief, but the kids love Rey and as long as they do, he will continue to prosper, although with the state of his knees etc... they should maybe be looking at him to put over more cruiserweights in his place rather than stand alone against these hosses.

Novaman 02-17-2009 11:41 AM

Yes im sick of it, i miss the days of cruiserweight matchs at least they were watchable

Hanso Amore 02-17-2009 11:50 AM

I dont need to see him in a lightweight match, but would like to see him with a normal sized opponent. Kane, Knox, JBL, Khali, Henry etc are all big dudes. Why can we see like a program with someone like Jericho? That match could be killer.

Hanso Amore 02-17-2009 11:51 AM

The Big Man little man dynamic only goes so far, and they over do it constantly.

BigDaddyCool 02-17-2009 11:53 AM

I wouldn't mind seeing Rey against Orton or the Hardies or Edge or whatever. His moves would look more effective.

wwe2222 02-17-2009 11:59 AM

Im tired of Rey period.

Why does RAW need two, though?

Xero 02-17-2009 12:10 PM

Have they done Michaels/Rey yet? That could be a decent feud for SummerSlam, or at least the downtime between Mania and SummerSlam.

BigDaddyCool 02-17-2009 12:11 PM

I don't think so. But would it be face v face? Cause those are gay.

Kane86 02-17-2009 12:13 PM

Rey should got back to Mexico there is no room for him left............

Doesn't need to be. Heel Rey would be a nice change of pace.

Of course, WWE wouldn't do that because Rey sells merch. And heel Shawn would be terrible if the JBL storyline is any indication of his "alternate" gimmicks.

So yeah, without a Rey turn I don't want to see the feud.

BigDaddyCool 02-17-2009 12:15 PM

He could go back to being a selfish prick (HBM).

Agreed. I fucking hate Rey.

He should go backt o mexico it would not be hard to replace him. Take in an example Evan Bourne. Hell fuck that he is better

Yeah, Rey's moves look terrible on big guys. He's too injured to be a cruiser now, so that leaves middle ground. He's not TOO crippled to work with them yet, and it still won't look as terrible.

Still, I'd as soon have him off my TV. I know it won't happen, but....

Dorkchop 02-17-2009 04:27 PM

I don't mind it every now and then. He's had a good match or two with Kane when Kane isn't being booked to be Barry Horowitz. At this stage in his career, I find his best matches are with guys average sized guys.

Juan 02-17-2009 04:28 PM

That Kofi/Rey vs. Kane/Knox tag match from a few weeks ago was pretty damn good.

Afterlife 02-17-2009 04:30 PM

Heel Rey is something I would welcome happily. That vs. HBM would be grand.

Savio 02-17-2009 04:59 PM

I remember back when he won the title he jobbed to every monster in the WWE.

BigDaddyCool 02-17-2009 05:21 PM

Which title?

Xero 02-17-2009 05:27 PM

Must be talking about the Cruiserweight.

I'm not the biggest Rey Mysterio fan in the world, but to deny that he's had some good matches recently is pretty ignorant. His stuff with Kane and Mike Knox has been pretty high-end stuff. It's not everyone that can get that out of those men.

What I'd really like to see, is a Rey Mysterio vs. Umaga feud. They teased it back when Umaga was Vince McMahon's hired gun, and I like what they teased. Some stuff with Shelton Benjamin would be cool, too.

BigDaddyCool 02-17-2009 05:51 PM

Shut up noid.

Xero 02-17-2009 05:51 PM

Rey is the definition of a cliche.

He's a Mexican, mask wearing wrestling midget.

I won't even think about shutting up until you start using proper grammar. You're not fucking e.e. cummings.

Supreme Olajuwon 02-17-2009 07:04 PM

I think Rey would work best as a tag wrestler. At least then it'd be more believable because he'd be a change of pace that would catch opponents off guard. One on one I can't buy half the stuff he does.

I've been tired of Rey for years but yeah I definitely agree with that. I'd actually rather see Noble go over than Rey. But yeah it's stupid how Rey can take so much and somehow overcome the odds and defeat the bigger and stronger man every freakin time.

Mr. Nerfect 02-17-2009 07:37 PM

Jamie Noble should get a freakin' big push, if you ask me. I'm still trying to work out if he is meant to be a face or a heel, though. That he is consistently entertaining is one thing that I know.

Just wait until the debut Dos Caras. He's a masked Mexican, so what's the bet they stick him with Rey Mysterio?

Oh, and BDC, that doesn't mean I want them to do it.

thedamndest 02-17-2009 08:27 PM

I thought Two Caras ended up not signing with WWE.

thedamndest 02-17-2009 08:49 PM

MMA? This guy would murder Rey so fast he would be able to feed Rey his own beating heart while Rey was still alive.

Fox 02-17-2009 09:01 PM

Rey Mysterio had a great showing in the main event at No Way Out, and proved to me that he can still pull off some wild ass, entertaining shit. I agree that he needs to stay away from the hosses (Umaga is just more of the same, Noid) and wrestle average sized people. There are so many combinations that would just be amazing: Mysterio vs. Punk, Mysterio vs. Jericho, Mysterio vs. HBM, Mysterio vs. Benjamin, vs. MVP, vs. Killings, vs. Orton. He proved with Kurt Angle that he can put on an awesome match with an averagely sized opponent; they just have some weird thing about having him face Mike Knox every fucking week.

The Optimist 02-17-2009 10:03 PM

It's not shitty within itself to be complete, but since we've been fed this sort of thing for ten years now it's pretty weak.

Stickman 02-18-2009 12:04 AM

I've been tired of Rey for like 10 years.

Hornicane 02-18-2009 03:03 AM

Rey should go back to Smackdown. He could be very effective in the midcard/US title picture that's been shaping up with Shelton, MVP, and Killings. Bouncing him from big guy to big guy got old years ago.

Anybody Thrilla 02-18-2009 03:17 AM

I don't completely hate Rey, but I REALLY want Mike Knox to go over him clean at least once.

I do agree. The casual fans absolutely adore Rey Rey. I am not a big Rey Mysterio fan but I cannot deny the fact that he brings loads of excitement. I do like the idea of Mysterio vs. Benjamin btw. :)

You can flip that arouns also though. How come Snitsky is so good he can smash Noble one week, then loose to Rey the next. He must suck. 2 sides to every angle.

But yeah, see where you're coming from.

Jeritron 02-18-2009 03:29 PM

I'd rather see Rey in a tag team with a hoss, rather than beating them.

I do like Rey, I just think he needs to be used better. He has star power, but that doesn't mean he has to win matches the same way as other stars.
I'd rather see him on ECW fueding with guys like Bourne. Either that or in the IC title division. I'd much rather see him facing guys like Kofi and Morrison, than Knox and Kane.

BigDaddyCool 02-18-2009 03:44 PM

Here is another thing. On Raw, Rey won when Knox speared himself into the ring post and was dazed, then Rey went for a quick roll up. Cole mentioned Rey was waiting for the right opportunity to pick up the win in a positive voice. Now when Edge waits for the right opportunity it is always in a negative voice. Rey, against the monsters and hosses is wait if not forcing mistakes and opportunities for him to capitalize on, yet that is good? I know he is a face and Edge is a heel. It just pisses me off.

Jeritron 02-18-2009 03:50 PM

Well, it's one thing to seize the oppurtunity legally in the match. It's another to find loopholes in the rules, employ body doubles, use money in the bank after the most grueling match possible, etc.

But yea, I guess I get what you're saying.

Juan 02-18-2009 03:52 PM

That's how it works. When Finlay cheats and uses the shaleighleigh, the commentators love it, but when a heel uses a foreign object to win, it's "despicable"

BigDaddyCool 02-18-2009 03:53 PM

To Edge's credit he went through 2 Elimination Chambers Sunday. When he took the title off Cena with the MITB contract, Cena had only gone through 1. Edge > Cena in Elimination chambers. Plus Edge has been through some grueling matches and still has what it takes to win, even if he has to cheat. Sure Edge's means are questionable, but you cannot deny he gets results and is a lot more dangerous than the announcers like to give him credit for.

BigDaddyCool 02-18-2009 03:54 PM

Same thing when a woman is hit. If a male face hits a female heel, she is a jeezabell and has it coming, while if a male heel hits a female face he is a low down scum bag.

Jeritron 02-18-2009 03:55 PM

You're employing too much logic and expecting too much BDC. Are you just picking up on this now? It's the beauty of wrestling.

Jeritron 02-18-2009 03:56 PM

I watched a youtube clip the other night where Steiner was going to hit Stacy Kiebler with a chair. The crowd and announcers were giving him a tremendous amount of heat.
Austin came to the rescue, and everyone approved of his chivalry.

Then, he stunned her. After all of that. And guess what? The crowd loved it. So did I. That's the way it works.

BigDaddyCool 02-18-2009 03:58 PM

I've known this for a long time, but it still bothers me today.

Afterlife 02-18-2009 04:06 PM

Did we have Rey vs. Khali yet?

Jeritron 02-18-2009 04:06 PM

I wouldn't let it. Whats the point? I have a hard time taking some of the "this has been bothering me for a while" threads seriously. It's one thing when it's dealing with real life creative aspects, but grappling with plot holes and inconsistencies with the logic of kayfabe is a dead end.

Jeritron 02-18-2009 04:06 PM

Rey and Khali should be a tag team

thedamndest 02-18-2009 04:07 PM

Khali was one of the hosses Rey jobbed to during his epic title run.

Afterlife 02-18-2009 04:57 PM

I just find bitching about "little guy vs. big guy" feuds to be moot to begin with.

Batsu 02-19-2009 09:32 PM

I'm just tired of the hosses and monsters outside of the ones who really do their job (has WWE had a real decent big since the Big Show?). Rey on the other hand is just whatever now... but him fighting Vince McMahon's favorite children is not how he's best utilized.
