No word on whether the songs transfer, eh? I really don't dig these stand alone "big name band games" because I am the kind of dude who digs variety. I don't wanna play just Aerosmith or just Metallica or just The Beatles.

They'd be better off just exporting them. I've been spoiled by Rock Band. Fuck switching Discs every 5 or 6 songs.
|
Rock Band 2 has spoiled me and it's unacceptable for any new music game to not have backwards compatibility with it's own series DLC (>>> GHWT).
|
That's what I just said, basically.
|
$250???? Are the fucking instruments gold plated???
|
No, the finish is made of LSD.
|
They said when the deal was announced that it wouldn't export to Rock Band as it would be a completly different game.
However, they also said it would not have the Rock Band brand on it so fuck knows now. |
Is there any Rock Band version that doesn't transfer to RB2?
|
Quote:
I didn't do it for Metallica, I didn't even do it for Aerosmith, but for the Beatles? I could see it. STILL, I would rather have transferrable content, because Rock Band has set a precedent, and Harmonix would be retarded to go backward. |
I have been wanting this ever since I first started playing Rock Band.
|
Harmonix have said that despite the bolting of the RB name on it, It is still a brand new experience and are not talking about exporting or DLC just yet.
|
title was bugging me
|
I wish it was Metallica Rock Band but oh well. GH: Metallica > this

Probably be a good way for me to get to know The Beatles' music.

Because they suck! :shifty:

at this point i think it would be cheaper and easier to buy a guitar and learn to play the beatles.

|
What? How dare you. I can beat Battery on expert. Surely I could play the beatles on a real guitar.
|
If it's got Tomorrow Never Knows, I am A Walrus and the like I'll go for it. Not a big fan of their earlier pop sound, bar HELP which I think is awesome.

It's one of those rare albums where you can listen to every track knowing they are all good. No fillers. |

I cannot freaking wait for this. I'm more excited for this than anything else coming out this year. So far.

HOT Not getting the game, but grabbing one of those axes is now a mission priority. Suppose this Beetles thing isn't a total waste for me! |
^ Me too. Those look awesome.
|
I am under the assumption that Michael Jackson still owns the publishing rights to the Beetles' catalog.
Under which case it's a definite pass. |

Why would that even matter? |
Those guitars looks awesome, btw.

If it's anything like DLC, he/they were already paid a flat fee, and not based on per copy sold. |

I would bet that The Beatles get a special exception and get a flat fee and revenue sharing. |
Anyway, didn't Jackson sell on the publishing rights to Sony?

McCartney's replica Rock Band bass looks awesome, backwardsby Griffin McElroy { 4 hours ago } http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...001xbox001.png http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...intendo001.png http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...station001.png
Regardless of your feelings towards the mop-topped British rock sensation upon which the next Rock Band game is based, you have to admit -- The Beatles had them some lovely instruments. Two of these six-strings, Lennon and Harrison's Rickenbacker 325 and Gretsch Duo Jet, will be coming as $99 add-ons to The Beatles: Rock Band -- however, a third replica guitar will be coming in the game's Limited Edition Premium Bundle: Paul McCartney's Höfner bass guitar, pictured above. According to a recent Harmonix press release, this wireless periph will work with all versions of Rock Band. It certainly looks gorgeous, but as our well-read colleagues at Engadget point out, this Höfner controller was designed for a right-handed player. McCartney, of course, was a Southpaw. Man, the game isn't even out yet, and already Harmonix is taking outrageous liberties with history. Unbelievable. A THIRD guitar. |
Do they have a single guitar/game bundle? I want one of those so I can trade in my wired stratocaster.
|
Judging from Gamestop.com, doesn't look like it. Have to buy the game plus a $100 guitar separately.
|
That's a sweet bass controller. Probably gonna go for all three Beetles' axes. For fashion reasons, of course.
|
Quote:
Suppose I could always just stroll into Gamestop and pick up a used wireless strat. Really don't wanna tho. |
Wasn't really feeling those first two guitars, but damn this third one is nice.
|
|
XBLive also has a decent length trailer of the game that's nothing but gameplay and cutscenes. I admit it was a charming presentation. I like the harmonizing integration, and having DLC makes a fool out of GH band exclusives.
|
I thought making pointless spin-offs was the Guitar Hero way of things. Isn't Rock Band above this?
crossrine |
There is no rockband 3 this year, so this is somewhat of a substitute for that.
|
A little research hurts no one...
|
I don't particularly care if I'm uninformed about the latest music game moneysink, so I guess you got me good there!
crossrine |
Pfft, you cared enough to inquire with aim to degrade.
|
I feel a sharp pain in my duodenum when I do research.
So RDD wins. |
Just stating what many "uninformed" people are probably thinking as well. The mass appeal of these games is what makes them so successful, and I'm pretty certain not every Rock Band owner is "in the know" with everything going on, so probably think similar things.
crossrine |
But you would know Harmonix isn't pulling an Activision because it's common knowledge Beetles is the only RB announced for this year. Every three months a new GH game is hyped.
This isn't "in the know", "let me look up some sites" information. Hell, this board has enough info itself, so you wouldn't even be websurfing. |

Maybe not Walmart Mom common, but certainly readily available here.
|
Not everyone here is a follow-every-bit-of-news gamer, kalyx.
|
I'm willing to bet Doggy had some passing knowledge that there were leagues more GHs floating around than RBs. He knew enough to point it out, in fact. Post #50. Go look. He sees one Rock Band spin-off and immediately finds it comparable to GHs strategy. And we are here.
|
He is also likes GH a lot more than RB, so that's why.
BUT YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT WITH A LITTLE BIT OF RESEARCH. |
Also, I'm done.
Not gonna argue about something so dumb for any longer. |
I win.
|
Good job on completely failing to grasp the point I was going to make.
crossrine |
Your point was weak sauce and your mom knows it.
|
She put it on your fail fries today.
|
And hand fed them to me.
|
Tasted like shame.
|
You remind me of that faggot from Grandma's Boy.
crossrine |
...Okay. Must have been a cool guy.

The Beatles: Rock Band, DLC not compatible with other Rock Band games by Alexander Sliwinski { 22 minutes ago } http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...reaking001.png http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...001xbox001.png http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...station001.png Harmonix Creative Director Josh Randall confirmed to us today that we should think of the Rock Band platform and The Beatles: Rock Band as two totally separate entities. Meaning, that The Beatles: Rock Band tracks and DLC will not be playable with any other Rock Band songs and vice versa. So, only owners of The Beatles: Rock Band will be able to download the Abbey Road album when its released as DLC later. There will also be no export feature for The Beatles: Rock Band into Rock Band. It's really a shame and one we hope that some licensing agreement in the future can fix. |
It is a dick move, but it makes sense business-wise that they would want to force people to buy Beatles Rock Band if they wanted any chance of playing the Beatles.
Maybe...just maybe after the game is out for a while, they will give us an export option. |
I don't think this was a Harmonix-MTV decsion, I think it was a Beatles one.

Rumor: The Beatles: Rock Band track list leaked by Ben Gilbert { Jun 14th 2009 at 10:00PM } http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...001xbox001.png http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...intendo001.png http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...station001.png <!-- sphereit start --> It reads like so many rhythm/music game releases in the past -- the ubiquitous track list leak. The Beatles: Rock Band is still a few months off from its September 9 release date but Ripten has gotten its hands on a leaked list of the possible tracks from the game (found after the break). The list does include the three tracks we checked out in our hands-on with the game at E3, though it also looks an awful lot like a list of Beatles singles across their career. Ripten notes that the ten tracks found in the glorious opening to the game are all included in its leaked list -- and it is approximately the same amount of tracks we know the game will be shipping with -- though we've yet to receive any official confirmation or denial from MTV Games, Harmonix, or EA. That's an immense track list, soooo getting this game
|
No clue what any of those songs are.

That's a very strange list. Including Boys and Twist and Shout, which aren't originally Beatles songs and leaving out:
A Day In The Life Strawberry Fields Forever Let It Be Yesterday All You Need Is Love Hey Jude In My Life Penny Lane Nowhere Man She Loves You Here, There And Everywhere Blackbird Martha My Dear The Long And Winding Road Happiness Is A Warm Gun Free As A Bird Help! Eleanor Rigby I Will I could go on and on with the omissions. That said, I'm still very excited to play this game, as I am a huge Beatlefan and will no doubt play this until I've got blisters on my fingers. I just hope DLC comes quickly for this. I know some has been announced, but there's a ton I want to be able to play ASAP. |
i think we will be pleased:
Beatles music will be presented in the form of the band’s complete albums (although people will still be able to buy individual songs from the records). The first three albums scheduled for release are “Rubber Soul,” “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and “Abbey Road.” |

Basically a boon for fans only. I don't mind, GH:Met being around and all.
|
Was planning on getting this tomorrow along with a guitar, but that is being put on hold. I've watched some videos of songs being played on Youtube and it looks pretty cool. Might be able to get the game Friday and the guitar for my birthday at the end of the month. :-\
|
let me ask you guys a question for those who play instruments. To me, if you play an instrument, it kind of seems like something like this or all the other music games wouldn't be much fun because you're not really playing the song.
Like I play piano and if a "keyboard" came out for this game, I don't think I would find playing Let It Be on the WII Keyboard much fun. does it keep your interest even if you play real instruments? |
